When we arrived, we were escorted by the hotel staff to the spa, and from that moment on I knew we were in great hands. Rebekah greeted us with such warmth and kindness. She was genuinely friendly, thoughtful, and attentive to our needs, making us feel welcome from start to finish. Before my visit, I had read reviews mentioning that the spa's layout was awkward because you walk through the gym in your robe to get between the locker room and relaxation area. Honestly, I didn't find it to be an issue at all. The gym was clean, uncrowded, and the short walk didn't detract from the experience in the slightest. The massage itself was absolutely fantastic. I feel terrible that I can't remember my massage therapist's name because they truly did an incredible job. I left feeling completely relaxed, refreshed, and pampered. What really made this visit stand out was the outstanding customer service. Rebekah went above and beyond to make my birthday feel special, and her genuine care made all the difference. I have no problem with paying for a service but was not happy there was no service recovery for something I did not request, and put me behind schedule for the rest of the day. I was told yes. Before we even reached the spa, there were red flags. They took my credit card over the phone, then called me back later saying they had taken the information incorrectly and asked for it again. I declined and said I would pay when I arrived. The elevator going up to the spa also had a very strong body-odor smell. Once inside, the steam room was not working properly. I waited about 15 minutes, reported it, was told it would be working within another 15 minutes, and it still did not work. I was frustrated because this was the exact amenity I had called to confirm before booking. Instead of simply apologizing and offering a solution, a male manager came into the locker room while I was partially undressed, told me I was being rude, refused to continue the conversation, and would not give me his name. Shortly afterward, a female manager also refused to identify herself and told my wife and me to leave. My wife was already preparing for her massage and had to be called out, get dressed, and leave. Yes, I was frustrated but I did not threaten anyone. I was later told a manager felt "intimidated" by me while I was standing partially dressed in a locker room trying to explain the problem. The whole situation felt unnecessarily hostile, embarrassing, and completely below the level of service I expected from Waldorf Astoria and La Prairie. I also felt we were treated differently because we were not hotel guests and because of how I was perceived. I cannot prove anyone's motivation, but that is genuinely how the interaction felt. One final caution: I personally would not give them a credit card over the phone just to hold a reservation. After seeing how quickly this situation escalated, I was glad I had decided to pay in person instead. Very disappointing experience, especially at this price point.

It made a good first impression - I think their West LA location is relatively new and it's modern, sleek and zen. The guy working the front desk was nice and friendly. My head spa therapist came to get me and she didn't introduce herself. At other head spas I've been to, they've asked me about my hair type and about any hair concerns I have. There was zero dialogue and customization whatsoever which I thought was a little odd for the price point, but I didn't read too much into it at the time. The treatment started off with a 10-15 minute facial which I wasn't expecting but I will say was probably the best part of the experience. Once the scalp treatment started, it unfortunately went downhill. It felt rushed and the therapist was extremely rough throughout the whole treatment, digging her nails into my head and roughly yanking my hair to get tangles out. When I've gone to head spas in the past, I've been so relaxed that I've fallen asleep and this was honestly painful enough that l was on the verge of tears. I kept hoping it would get better and unfortunately it never did. It did include a blow dry which was appreciated, but the therapist only half dried my hair so it ended up drying awkwardly. I honestly would've just preferred to leave it wet or blow dry it myself. My husband spent a lot on this experience and I'm really bummed it was so disappointing. I do think/hope it was just a fluke as this spa generally has good reviews, and I did overhear another customer and her therapist engaging in conversation so maybe this is just an issue with the specific therapist I had (again, I don't know her name since she didn't introduce herself). I did end up calling the spa after the fact to share this feedback, and the person I spoke to was apologetic and offered for me to come back for 50% off the service. I appreciated that, but I also don't really want to spend over $100 to come back when I already spent over $200 for a disappointing experience - I would've preferred to receive that in the form of a refund to be honest. This head spa is the closest one I've found to where I live and it is a nice location, but sadly I'm not sure I'll come back.

I have visited countless spas all over the country, so I write this review with plenty of other good experiences to compare it to. The good: Scheduling was a breeze. I thought it seemed a little unorthodox to not provide a phone number (it seems that appointments are only scheduled via an online form), but I was able to secure the services I wanted on the date/time requested. My husband and I scheduled 90-minute deep tissue massages and facials (60-minute gentleman's for him and 90-minute oxygen for me). Just before we began our massages, a staff member let us know that the esthetician who was supposed to perform my husband's facial called in sick. We were disappointed, but they offered us some products to make up for the last minute cancellation. This was unnecessary and unexpected, but we were touched by the gesture. Additionally, my massage therapist was very sweet. It was an effective and relaxing service. The bad: The spa as a whole simply does not meet the standards of the rest of the hotel (the spa is located inside of the Casa Del Mar). In fact, it feels like the spa was a complete afterthought. The space is super tiny. The relaxation lounge is so small that it feels like you're walking into a closet. The locker room situation - absolutely embarrassing. There is only one restroom, one shower, and no designated area for changing, unless you want to change right in front of the door that could swing open at any moment. Because of this poor locker room design, another guest was changing in the restroom, which just so happened to be the only women's restroom on site. I needed to use the restroom, so I asked a staff member if there were any other ladies' rooms nearby. The only option presented to me was to enter the men's locker room and use the men's restroom. Gross. It probably goes without saying that all of the other basic spa amenities you'd expect to find at a hotel of this caliber, (such as a steam room and sauna, hot tea and so on) are also missing from this establishment. I could've overlooked these issues if the rest of my experience on site was top-notch, and as previously mentioned, my massage was very nice. However, my facial can only be described as hellacious. The esthetician was so aggressive during extractions that I actually burst into tears when I couldn't take the pain anymore. Keep in mind that I receive facials regularly, and have done so for many years. I am familiar with the process. I have NEVER experienced extractions so forceful, and an esthetician so unsympathetic. My skin was unbelievably irritated and inflamed afterwards. Two days post-treatment, and I am still experiencing not only redness and inflammation, but also scabs from the extractions. Unacceptable. I'm shocked and disappointed. I don't want a refund. I don't want or expect anything from the spa or Casa Del Mar in an attempt to make up for this terrible experience. I just wish I hadn't scheduled anything with Sea Wellness Spa in the first place, and believe that other guests should know what they're getting themselves into before visiting.

A Facial That Turned Into a High-Pressure Sales Pitch. The offer seemed to demonstrate promising results , especially since my usual laser facials had plateaued, and the spa was conveniently located near my former residence. I was excited to try something new and get to visit the neighborhood again on top of what appeared to be something I'd really like to subscribe to because it was none invasive self care. The Good: * Upon arrival, the exterior of the building appeared dated like it was 30 years ago, with windows that hadn't been cleaned in a long while, bars and old paint. My first impression was this was a dingy back alley. However, the interior was a pleasant surprise--clean and spa-like. I felt really good about this. * Dr. Mark, the owner and a dermatologist, introduced himself and conducted a thorough skin analysis using advanced imaging technology, providing insights into moisture levels, sun damage, and more. * The facial itself, administered by Clair, (who had magic hands), was relaxing and enjoyable. The red light therapy session was particularly soothing. The Not-So-Good: * Post-treatment, the experience took an unexpected turn. It felt like a roller coaster with this place. Dr. Mark introduced a red light therapy machine priced at $6,995.99, suggesting I purchase it for home use. Despite my reservations, he offered a discounted price of $5,000 with 18% interest financing. When I declined, he became passive-aggressive, emphasizing that he usually doesn't come in to his 38 spas and took time with me, and that he wouldn't discuss the offer again and that the price would increase to $15,000 in the future, which he said I likely would not be able to afford. He basically said that regardless of my decision, whatever it was would not make or break him and he did not care. . This was a real up down conversation of sales no-nos , which I could not believe was happening. When I went to pay I felt like I was being dismissed. I felt like Pretty Woman. Seriously? Well we know the ending of that * The high-pressure sales tactics overshadowed my initial negative then positive experience and it felt like the death spiral with the sales pitch. It felt less and less like a spa visit and more like a sales pitch. Why would I want one of these machines at home and what amounts to car payments on something that would be obsolete in 90 days but I had 2 more years and 9 months remaining in payments? This did not make sense to me. Nor did the 18% interest. Final Thoughts: While the facial treatment was satisfactory, except for the white crumbs from the facial paste all over my face falling like dandruff because he interrupted the finish and it was not washed off, the aggressive sales approach was completely off-putting. A spa should be a place of relaxation, not a venue for high-pressure sales. I won't be returning to Bliss Spa or any of its affiliated locations.
