La Prairie Spa at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills was my first La Prairie spa experience, and it delivered. The spa is located on the second floor of the Waldorf Astoria. It's on the smaller side, with a max occupancy of 34, but honestly, it feels best when there are far fewer guests. The space is beautifully maintained with a very refined, high-end feel. I booked a 90-minute Relax massage using a gift card. Justin was my therapist, and he was excellent. I shared a few areas to focus on, and he not only addressed them, but worked on them in ways I hadn't experienced before. I added hot stones to the treatment, and he incorporated them into the massage itself rather than just placing them on my back, which made a noticeable difference. The massage table also stood out. It adjusts in a way that supports your body throughout the treatment, especially when you're face down. It made the entire experience even more comfortable. My experience here was beyond disappointing for myriad reasons. I had a ResortPass gift card and decided to use it toward a 60-minute massage, which costs $345. Here's why it wasn't worth it. 1) The Waldorf-Astoria and La Prairie are prestige, top-of-the-line brands. I expected way more from the spa itself. The locker room has lockers, bathrooms, showers, and a steam room. No sauna, hot tub, any other amenities besides some bottles of water and a few products and Dyson blowdryers on the countertop. There are a few snacks in the lounge, 2 chairs and a couch. It just doesn't feel fancy or upscale, especially for the price point. There were also glasses left behind and stains on countertops that were never cleaned up, even after two hours. 2) My massage started late and ended on time. I came over an hour early to enjoy relaxing in the lounge, so it's not because I wasn't on time. My appointment was at 11:45. I was greeted by my massage therapist at 11:52. By the time we walked back to the treatment room, discussed the treatment, and I disrobed, at least 10 minutes had passed. My massage ended at 12:51. 3) The massage itself was not good. We discussed spending time on my lower back and also on my right wrist. Neither were really paid attention to. My hands and feet were never even touched. He spent about 15 minutes kind of massaging around my lower back but never actually making it there, never got to the glutes at all. It felt very routine and not customized or personalized. The pressure was basically nonexistent. I was so underwhelmed. 4) When my massage was over, he told me I have a lot of pressure in my mid-back from wearing a bra. Um, what? I've never heard this before. Also, what do you expect me to do about that, not wear a bra? It was such a weird and kind of accusatory thing to say. 5) My service was supposed to come with a glass of free champagne. I never received that. I waited in the lounge for 10 minutes after my service and it never came. I told the person at checkout about it and they said "oh your therapist was supposed to bring that to you, sorry." No offer to make it right. Also, the people at valet were mainly very rude. (Except for Steven, who was an utter delight!) When I pulled up, a row of three men at valet all stared at me disapprovingly and wouldn't even walk toward my car. I'm sorry I wasn't in a Lamborghini or Rolls-Royce, maybe then I would have gotten better treatment from them. This was a very disappointing experience. If I'd actually paid $345 and not had a gift card to cover most of it, I'd be even more upset -- but, still, what a waste of my gift card. I would never recommend this spa to anyone. read more

Spa is living off the la Prairie name; they do not care how your experience is and (to their credit) do not even feign caring. This is my second time at this spa and it definitely does not match Waldorf Astoria standards. I had a gift certificate my second time around and I was bringing a friend for her birthday, I called multiple times ahead of time to try to ensure it would be a nice experience. The day of I called to make sure they wouldn't discuss form of payment infront of my friend which the manager Samantha assured me. Then she told me to email her the gift certificate to make sure it wasn't expired. Which then I had to explain to her gift certificates in California do not expire it's against the law. We had a back and forth. When we got there the first thing that happened infront of my guest was them asking to see my gift certificate after multiple times of discussing not to do that. Fast forward to the actual massage. Neither my friend nor I had a great experience. The masseuse I had had ice cold hands which would make me jump every time she touched me. They shorted the massage by 8 minutes to be exact and there was a lot of talking. They have minimal Amenities (just a steam room which is off until you attempt find someone to turn it on, good luck). I emailed them about the experience and how the first thing they did was ask for the payment infront of my guest and about the massage which then the new manager said "maybe this is not the right spa for you for future visits". She was so unprofessional and also divulged information about how the last spa director was terminated and they are not sure what she did with the money that the gift certificate was paid for, as a customer coming to an expensive spa, is this something you need to share? THIS IS A WALDORF ESTABLISHMENT, I'm truly shocked at the service level. Go to the Four Seasons or even the Maybourne, stay far away from this establishment. Also if someone higher up is reading I would highly recommend reevaluating who you hire as a spa director. read more

As someone who visits regularly - about once a quarter - I can confidently say that Waldorf Astoria's La Prairie consistently delivers a fantastic spa experience. Massage experience: The masseuses are friendly, skilled, and always make each massage enjoyable and relaxing. Parking: Complimentary valet parking with a spa treatment, as long as you remember to get your ticket stamped. They also add a 20% gratuity to your bill, which takes the stress out of tipping. Reservation: While I've usually been able to snag same-day bookings, it's still a good idea to call ahead just in case. The spa facilities are excellent - clean showers, a sauna, a steam room, Dyson hairdryers Overall, Waldorf Astoria's La Prairie is my go-to spot. One of the worst massages I've ever been to. Very disappointed. I want my money back. I was very much looking forward to experiencing the well-known Waldorf Astoria signature massage. I read that it originated here and soon after became the staple of Astoria massages, so it HAD to be life changing. Of course, the service was impeccable, just like what the Waldorf Astoria collection is known for. But the facilities were quite small and it didn't feel as "cozy". I was led to my service room, and laid down on the table. The face cradle was too low, so I asked to lift it. Once she lifted it, it was too high. I decided to leave it be. Then the service started. My first reaction: "ow ow ow ow, is this how it's supposed to be? Ow ow ow ow, why is she going so fast? Ow ow ow ow. This can't be right. I asked her to lower the pressure, but soon realized it wasn't the pressure, it's the massage itself that was so terrible. There were no long, slow, relaxing strokes that I was used to in a massage. No focusing on parts of my body that needed work. It's like she was racing to the finish. I felt like a piece of clay she was trying to knead. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt, and believe that she was maybe the daughter of someone who worked here, and got to work here through connections and it was her first day. But man, that's me being an optimist. I feel I need to go back to my masseuse at Massage Envy for half the price and fix the damage she did to my body. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Natasha, Natasha, Natasha! The trek and price were worth it because of Natasha my massage therapist. I will be here twice a month to be able to heal from my knee surgery. I've not had a massage in over seven months because I was afraid of the pain. Natasha knew exact ly what to do in my situation and let me know what she was doing every step of the way. Her touch was exactly correct and healing and not to mention therapeutic! She is now my favorite and I will be back often. The spa is beautiful. The massage tables are heated and can be made to incline. Yes! Great for my knee! The champagne was a lovely touch and the snacks were on point. I came here for the white caviar facial and the facial was very nice. The most painless extractions I've ever had and I loved the gentle microdermabrasion. The spa itself is very disappointing - considering it's at a Waldorf, I thought it would be pretty fancy with nice amenities, but it was very tight and cramped and ... dare I say it, basic. Here's the short of it: I had an amazing experience here and aren't sure why there are so many poor reviews. I booked a 60 min Massage and a 60 min Caviar Facial back to back for my friend and I. I showed up about 10 minutes before my Facial (I was doing my Facial first - I would do this second but someone had to) and I went into a very clean locker room. I changed into the softest robe ever and moved myself into the lounge, which I had to myself. There were teas, bites, water - nothing too crazy but I don't understand what the bad reviews were expecting out of the lounge. It was perfectly fine and I was also offered champagne (I don't drink so I didn't have any). I had my facial with Lanore and she was amazing, I can't really say anything bad about it other than I had some product left in my hairline so a headband would be great for treatments even on men. I will be honest and I already have pretty good skin but she did ask me about whether I wanted one extraction and I went forward with it. SUPER IMPORTANT I get facials all the time and this was the first facial that actually relaxed me like crazy. I wanted to fall asleep during it but didn't want to accidentally snore or anything so I just enjoyed the experience. 4.5/5 stars Now the massage I had with Natasha and firstly the treatment I was in was so beautiful - I was actually shocked. The bed was comfy and I decided to opt for a non-heated bed since I tend to sweat during massages. You have a choice of three massage oils - not sure what the difference is with these since I really couldn't smell mine much at all. But probably for the better as some people are really sensitive to scents. The massage was lovely, she really had me melting fully into the bed. I really had no complaints other than maybe needing to book the 90 min next time. 4.8/5 Now I did book these appointments then read the reviews and almost cancelled my appointments but decided to just take a chance. I am glad I did, I had a lovely time at this spa. Now, it is on the pricier side but honestly there are spas that are way more expensive in LA. My friend whom I treated also was super happy with her experience too. We both left refreshed and relaxed. Def will be booking treatments here again. read more

I wish I can give them 0 star. One of my eyes was irritated after the facial. It was so red and swelling. I can barely open my eye and there is always tears coming down. I called them to ask and the answer that I got from them is just suggesting me to see a dermatologist. And they said my eye irritation was caused by my trip a week ago and the pimple above my eyes. I did mention that I came in to do a facial because I just came back from Miami a week ago. And then they are using my trip as an excuse to against me，they literally were saying " maybe because you were having so much fun and enjoying your time in Miami，that's why your eye has irritation." I couldn't believe what I heard. Of course after a trip you want to do facial to treat dehydrated skin. Then it becomes their excuse to be irresponsible. After that they told me，"what do you want us to do？I'm not doctor that I can't treat your eye." Then you should tell all your customers that we are not responsible for any bad results，your skin is not perfect enough for this facial treatment，you should go see a dermatologist before you come in. It's really not professional and disappointed. It's the worst experience I've ever had. They didn't apologize at all. All I heard is just arrogant excuse and attitude. read more

My husband and I drove 1.5 hours to get a 75 minute couples massage. My husband's therapist asked him if he had any allergies, and he made the grave error of commenting that his hay fever has been terrible this year. Upon hearing the word, "fever", his therapist refused to do his massage. No amount of explanation about seasonal allergies to the spa manager could change the mind of the therapist, and we got off of the massage tables, dressed, and drove the 1.5 hours home without getting our services. I booked a spa day at La Prairie Spa on Tuesday 7/25 which is my sister's birthday. La Prairie Spa is located inside of the Waldorf Astoria which is considered a 5 star Hotel & Spa. The purpose of this detailed experience is that the 3 necklaces I wore that day disappeared and have not been returned since. My sister and I went into this SPA around noon to 1pm. Our appointments for a facial and a massage were booked for 2:30 pm that afternoon. We were serviced by Mahbuba Nasibova, who is titled as the SPA manager. We started our afternoon by spending an hour at the Pool area on the roof for an hour and headed down to the SPA on the 2nd floor at 2pm to change for our appointments. Both my sister and I headed our separate ways to our appointments. I received a facial by a technician who advised me to remove my jewelry for a thorough treatment, which makes sense. Naturally after my appointment I was relaxed and tired since I am 2 and half months pregnant. My hands were moisturized and I knew that I couldn't put on my my 3 gold necklaces back on by myself so I proceeded to put my necklaces on the right hand side pocket of my robe, with the intention of putting them on when I walked back to the main SPA area. The technician left 2 pieces of chocolate the shape of a small square as a courtesy after my treatment. I grabbed those 2 pieces of chocolate and placed them on the left hand side of my pocket. After walking back to the SPA, I spent some time with my sister in the relaxation room. At this point I had completely forgotten about these necklaces sitting in my right hand side pocket. We relax, joke around, and have tea. We intended to go back to the pool area and the manager advised that the pool area closes at 5pm. So we started to pack up and change to go home. Instead of placing my robe inside of the laundry basket, I placed my robe back inside of the locker I was using (locker 4). I took out all of my things; we both changed and headed out. We realized we forgot to get our parking tickets validated. So I went back up to the spa. The manager which I presumed was the last person at the spa was not there. I waited at the front desk lobby area of the spa between 5-10 minutes until I called the spa to see if anyone would come to the front and validate our parking pass. The manager finally came out and validated my parking pass. Throughout this time I am sure that she had plenty of time to look through all of the lockers. I would think that it is a good opportunity to mention that I forgot something. At a spa like this, I would imagine that things get left all of the time therefore staff take initiative to look through anything left behind thoroughly. This would include lockers and all items in it. Yes, I feel like it would include the robes as well, as many are required to take off their jewelry for treatment. She proceeded to give me a validation and I left back downstairs to valet parking. That evening around 7pm I realized I did not have my necklaces on me. I immediately called the spa and emailed the spa about my missing items. The director replied and said she would look first thing in the morning. The following morning I called and she simply said that unfortunately they did not find anything after thoroughly looking through the spa. It honestly felt like they brushed it off and emailed me a vague "no". So I called again and spoke to Mahbuba over the phone. She told me that all the robes were revised and that they only found the chocolates in my robe. That immediately sparked a red flag for me. The robes are cotton material. The chocolate covers are silky smooth to the point that they could slip out of anything. My rope chains up against cotton are more likely to get stuck onto cloth material that they probably wouldn't come out even if you flipped that robe upside down. The chains also bunch up together in a small corner of the robe. Over all I had a hard time believing they were able to find the two pieces of chocolate but not my necklaces. I nicely asked them to thoroughly look through the spa and they did not even look through the relaxation room sofa couch/pillows until day two because I pressed for them to look. They reimbursed me for what I spent there that day as a courtesy, however I felt the need to file a police report because there is something that has never sat well with me since that day. Since nobody ever did much about it I figured I could share my experience to save other people from getting their jewelry or personal valuable items stolen. I could imagine how many people this has happened to at this SPA. I would absolutely never go to this SPA and spend money there again. Not because their technicians weren't good but for the lack of care and lack of security within the SPA. All together this has made me look at the hotel itself differently. This SPA in particular was very deceiving and a highly regretful experience for me to say the least. read more

I did the Diamond Day experience which was amazing. Vanessa was just wonderful and she did the scrub. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Then I met with Kathy for incredible hot stone massage. unbelievable. took a break and had a spectacular lunch on the roof. Jay the server was very friendly. The lambchops were delicious! Back to the spa for 90 minute facial. Apologies but I forgot her name. She was extremely knowledgable and friendly and a joy. If you are a fan of luxury and relaxation, don't come here! I booked a couples massage for myself and my husband and I wished I went somewhere else. I was greeted by a male attendant, who walked me to the women's lounge and stopped at the door. He provided me an oversight of the facility and was gesturing where the showers and lockers were from the door. This was so confusing as it was to other spa guests since everyone was looking for the showers and opening closets trying to find their way around the spa. Normally a female attendant greets you and walks you to the lounge and provides an oversight of the facility and directions. Not at this spa. Upon entering the spa, I noticed wet bath mats, tea packets left on the counter as well as mugs and other trash. I was surprised at how dirty it was. I asked an attendant to replace the bath mat and she did but again you do not normally need to ask for this type of service. My husband said the men's lounge was not any different. He noticed trash and used towels all over the counter as well. We made our way to the relaxation lounge where our massage therapist took us back to the "couples suite." The massage was nice but we ended our massage eight minutes early. I don't know why the therapists ended early but we walked back to the lounge and got ready to leave. I called the spa the following morning to provide some feedback about our experience but was only greeted by the front desk staff flippant attitude towards my experience. Overall, don't waste your time or money at this spa! I wished someone would have told me how horrible this place is. So, thank you, Waldorf Astoria for making it so easy to support the Four Seasons in BH and Hotel Bel Air for my future celebrations!! read more

The front desk was very welcoming, the lounge luxurious & the snacks AMAZING!!! The massage with Cecile totally exceeding my expectations. Pressure was deep but not too deep ,she added some stretching and also did some scalp and face massage. I was in heaven! She then guided me back to the lounge where I enjoyed more delicious snacks, went to the steam room and finished with a cold shower . Coming from a service culture, my expectations were top notch specially when you are paying for 725 usd for one day! I totally feel that products and the service given was great but unfortunately I can not tell the same thing for the front desk ( except the Iranian Lady) and management. We had a 12 year old and because of our English, we had some miscommunications. Through this and change of people on the front desk and management during the day, we have to tell our story from the scratch to non smiling, inattentive management team. Every time we feel that we are starting from the beginning... First we disagreed, then agreed for 60 min facial for 12 year old (!) then paid her lunch because she did not take the diamond day then we were charged the same amount of diamond day for her with no pedicure- manicure plus lunch!! No logic exist and no customer service so sorry! Then they agreed again to reduce the amount we agreed! Such a stressful deal when you are having your la prairie spa day right! The ladies doing their job were amazing, but i do not think anyone knows what they are doing at the front desk ( except the Iranian lady) and in management team! Specially the last manager, she ruined my whole appetite and I did not want to tip at all because of her attitude. This is not my first spa experience not even the first one in la prairie spa after Monaco, nyc and in Switzerland! I got a great facial. The locker room was designed well -- luxurious with the amenities one expects and nowhere bombastic or tucking away "pop up ads", easy on the mind. The facialist offered me lots of ways to tune the facial to my preferences (light, heat, sound, degree-of-scrubbing). Caviar as an ingredient in a skin product strikes my fancy; caviar makes the experience supremely special. I like the look that my skin had after we got done and I expect the boon to my skin and overall health to last. read more

If I could give this spa 10 stars, I would. I came upon this place after I had heard the spa at The Beverly Hotel had closed, and to my surprise it's just as good if not even better. I am a huge fan of La Prairie skincare, and I have been using their products religiously and they do work. I typically get my products from my girl at Nordstrom Topanga, who is equally as amazing. The whole experience of this place is just spectacular, from the amenities, lounge, and facial itself. My esthetician I believe her name is Lauren, did a fantastic job.
