The technician who did my treatment was very apologetic and checked in on me, which I appreciated, but that is where the positives end. I was told I would receive a refund and that any treatments to fix this would be comped, but I have not received a refund. They have also stopped checking in on me. I have called multiple times and emailed with no response, while still being charged the monthly fee. At this point, I have paid $1,352 to be left with burns and no resolution. The lack of follow through from management is unacceptable. I would not recommend coming here.

The woman at the front desk was very kind and luckily my nail tech was ready when I arrived. They have a beautiful room facing the street specifically designed for their nail salon. The Healthy Gel Manicure is meant to avoid any harsh chemicals and, instead, they use formulas that promote nail health with reduced amounts of chemicals. I was very surprised that my manicure lasted about three week. The color and shine was always there, so yes, this manicure is indeed long-lasting and chip-resistant, as advertised. My only complaint is that my nail tech left a bit more space between my cuticle and the nail polish. I understand that it is customary to leave a small gap, but comparing this manicure to previous manicures I've had, the gap was definitely bigger. Within one week, it looked like my manicure was much older, and after three weeks, my nails were long overdue for a manicure. I wasn't expecting a Russian manicure, where the nail polish gets closer to the cuticle, but please don't leave so much spacing.

I live on the Westside, so Santa Monica is my home spa and where I go at the end of every month. I usually spend four or five hours there, have a couple of services, relax in the quiet room, and give myself an afternoon to completely decompress. I genuinely love this spa. The facilities are beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the people who provide my services are consistently wonderful. That said, after coming here month after month, there are two things that drive me absolutely crazy. First: THE PHONES. There are signs throughout the locker room/spa area stating that cell phone use is not allowed, yet every single time I'm there, women are on their phones. This is a LOCKER ROOM. Women are changing, showering, getting dressed, and walking around completely naked. Nobody should have to wonder whether someone nearby has a phone with a camera pointed in their direction. Almost every visit, I end up going to the front desk and asking an employee to come back and remind grown adults to put their phones away. Burke Williams really needs to find a better way to enforce this policy because, at this point, the signs clearly aren't enough. This isn't simply about maintaining a peaceful spa environment it's about the privacy of every woman using that locker room. My second complaint isn't really about Burke Williams at all. It's about some of the guests: PLEASE TIP YOUR SERVICE PROVIDERS APPROPRIATELY. I am continually shocked by what I hear people leaving as tips. A $250 massage and a $15 or $20 tip? A $350 facial and a $20 tip? On my most recent visit, I watched someone check out after receiving more than $700 worth of services from two different providers and leave each of them a $20 tip. These massage therapists and estheticians are skilled professionals providing services at a high-end Southern California spa. They work hard and take wonderful care of their clients. If you can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on luxury spa services, please budget enough to appropriately tip the people providing them. I regularly see the same providers, appreciate them tremendously, and tip them accordingly usually $50-$60 per service. And yes, I am treated exceedingly well. There's a reason for that: I value the people who take care of me, and I make sure they know it. Despite these frustrations, I love Burke Williams Santa Monica. It remains one of my favorite places to relax and recharge, and I'll continue being a Deluxe member and coming every month. I just wish this location would get much more serious about enforcing its own no-phone policy. And to my fellow spa-goers: put your phone away, respect other women's privacy, and for goodness' sake, tip your service provider properly. The experience starts with a 15 min foot soak/massage, and that already was divine. For the body massage part, the masseuse asks you what parts you want focused on and how much pressure you would like. They are also really good at checking in at various parts of the massage to make sure you are completely satisfied. I really appreciated how thorough they are with the massage and also how proactive they are in making sure you are enjoying the experience. I still showed up because I wanted to find a way to figure it out, whether that meant rescheduling or possibly receiving a shorter service. The staff checked me in under another client's name, brought me into a private treatment room, and had me undress before realizing they had confused me with someone else. My identification was in my hand and available to be checked the entire time. The mistake was only discovered when the actual client arrived. I was then interrupted, told to get dressed, taken back to reception, and ultimately told that they could not accommodate me. Being placed in that situation was embarrassing, invasive, and deeply uncomfortable. What made the experience worse was the receptionist telling me that the situation was my fault. Rather than acknowledging the check-in error and apologizing, they attempted to suggest that I was responsible for the confusion. I accept responsibility for arriving late, but I do not accept responsibility for being checked in under another person's name. If there was any uncertainty about my identity, the staff could have simply checked my ID before bringing me into a private treatment room and asking me to undress. A business handling private appointments should have a reliable process for verifying clients before bringing them into a treatment room. This experience showed a serious lack of attention to basic identification, privacy, and professionalism. I would not return or recommend this spa.
