Such a unique and amazing experience! I came in for the Gua Sha facial and absolutely loved it. She used a combination of Gua Sha, deep meridian hammer therapy, massage, and oxygen infusion. I could immediately see how much less puffy my face looked afterward. I also carry a lot of tension in my jaw from TMJ, and my jaw felt SO relaxed after the facial. She was incredibly thorough and you can tell she really knows what she's doing. They offer a ton of other traditional Chinese massage treatments too, including full-body deep fascia release, which I definitely want to come back and try with my fiancé! read more

I am not a newbie to head spas. I've had multiple services at other places to have a basic understanding and expectations. I expect deep relaxation, calming scents and music are nice but not mandatory, super soft and clean hair, and I do not expect a luscious silky blow-out on my curly/wavy hair; It's usually a quick/rough dry. I made an appointment a couple days ahead to do something nice in my last stretch of pregnancy. I wasn't expecting this to be a glamorous place; rather a nice, practical spa with good service based on the reviews. And I would say the general vibe matches that description. A very nice woman greeted me, checked me in and took me into one of the rooms with two beds. The beds are not adjustable, and I can't lay on my back (at 37 weeks pregnant). Most places would try to accommodate with pillows, but I don't think the woman understood what I was getting it. She wasn't fluent in english (which is fine), but I would expect a spa to know the basics when catering to pregnant women. She was laying thin blankets down which made no difference, and in the end she helped me adjust my lower body with pillows so I was partially on my side/ twisted with a pillow under next to my hip with flat upper back. I re-positioned multiple times through out my appointment to be somewhat comfortable. They had my eyes covered with a folded towel, so I couldn't see, but I think the door to the room was open. I could hear other patrons outside and general chatter. I would have preferred a closed door service, especially since I was a little exposed. (Unlike some of the reviews here, I was not given a shirt or robe. I slipped my bra straps off and kept my shirt on my chest + their light blanket, which btw had a musty smell). The little shoulder and head massage was okay. It felt nice, and basic. The hair wash was also quite typical... it felt more like a salon wash than a therapeutic/relaxing treatment, even though it was quite long. She could have been gentler. I think they shampooed my hair twice, and did a quick conditioner rinse. I feel like the conditioner was put right on my scalp and not really dispersed properly to the ends and quickly rinsed off. Then the final rinse involved the curved shower head on my scalp directly in one position for a few minutes, which felt like a torture. I moved my head around a lot during this time to get some relief and movement. Lastly she tried drying my hair while I was still laying down, with no product and I had to stop her. My hair on top felt super frizzy and dried out, while very wet underneath. I also don't think they have water filters since my hair felt rough, a bit sticky, and smelled a bit musty. I had to rinse my hair at home and condition the ends. Final outcome - Yes, my hair felt very clean. However there were too many misses that I cannot recommend this place. read more

Bestie and I decided to check out a Head Spa for the 1st time and chose A+ for the location. Bestie has naturally blonde, fine hair about bra-strap length and I have blonde, processed fine hair that is not as long. We arrived on time and were taken to our room, our spa beds waited for us. We changed into button up shirts which were provided and laid down, face up. The neck, shoulder, upper arm light massage was nice. The took a microscopic pic of our scalp before in which she said "oily" on both of our photos, we replied "Oh". As they started with the water Bestie said "the temperature is too high" repeatedly, the ladies were silent, so I said "too hot" and they replied "oh, oh, too hot". I get the impression that their English is limited so we kept our words simple going forward. They scrub your scalp until its nearly bloody and then they raked through our hair before they finally use the half halo sprinklers on your head, which felt really nice. At the end they were raking through my hair again and I asked them to stop which she did. She then took pics of our scalps again and said "look...clean", we could not tell the difference. We will not be back. It will take a year for us to replace the hair we lost that day. My hair felt dry and tacky the next day and my scalp had been violated. read more

Serena & Steven would get 10 stars if that was available! At first glance, you might not think much of A+ Spa, but don't let appearances deceive you! Street parking was free, and the inside of the spa was welcoming, peaceful, and very clean. I had the best head spa experience of my life! The two experts switched off during my 90-min scalp therapy session that included a facial cleanse, head/neck/shoulder/upper back/arm massage, hair mask/steam ($15 add on), with hot towels and essential oils. Trust me! You will sleep like a baby afterwards! read more

The 1 hour head spa experience was nice. My friend and I went for her birthday, we were placed in a private room together and the experience was very relaxing. The girl who provided my service was nice but didn't speak a word of English so there was no real communication between us. The head massage was nice. The head spa machine felt good. The pricing seemed reasonable for the fact that their location was in West LA, no need to drive out to SGV. The appointment making process was easy. I went online and booked it. Once you are confirmed, they will send you a text. No need to call to make an appointment which makes life easier. I think my biggest issue on why I knocked off a star is because at the end, when we were settling the payment in a very tight space upfront the two employees, the manager lady and a man (maybe the owner) all stood there and stared at us while they waited for the tip. It was the most awkward situation in a very suffocating way. I also noticed they post a recommended tip amount which seems to be a regular thing at these types of businesses now. I think it's because Americans are used to tipping 15% on the cost of services but when service is priced very low, 15% just isn't enough. There is an etiquette amongst Asians that you pay $10-$15/an hr tip no matter the cost of service. If this is an issue for you, I would suggest you go elsewhere. If you are cheap, or you don't have enough money for extra tip, you probably shouldn't be getting treatments like a head spa. Parking was pretty easy. We found a meter right in front. I believe you can park in the neighborhood as well. read more

So glad the spot opened up! Came here on a Friday evening with my friend and got a couples treatment. It was super easy to make an appointment. The scalp analysis was so insightful. The treatment was very relaxing and would totally come back soon! After, they offer you ginger tea, and refreshments, which I thought was such a nice touch at the end. read more

I had a Gua Sha facial, foot treatment and Meridian hammer. It was Lovely. My facial turned out beautiful. Moreover, Serena did an amazing job at my foot treatment/ Meridian hammer. She explained and demonstrated how the meridian hammer can help my poor circulation in my legs. I was amazed to see and feel real results!! .. I was blown away to learn all of rhe benefits of Meridian hammer. Overall, the customer service was great. I can't wait to try the head spa treatment. I will definitely come back for more facial/ meridian hammer. read more

Loved my Headspa experience here! I got the 90 minutes which comes with a mini facial or a back massage. I opted for the back massage since I enjoyed a facial recently at my regular spa. It was awesome I just wish I would have spoke up about too much pressure sooner. After my male therapist got the pressure softer it was awesome for the rest of the way. Compared to other Headspa services I've had, I like that they spend time massaging and combing your head with different combs, instead of pressing pressure points and just washing the hair for a long time! I only wish they would run the rainbow multi-stream rinsing machine a couple more times (rather than just once) and it will be a perfect Headspa treatment. I'll be back with my Mom and daughter for sure! read more

I loooooove coming here! I have tried their head spa (amazing value esp in West LA), Tuina (TCM) massage and deep meridian massage. All were relaxing and loosened my muscles. I especially enjoy the deep meridian massage. It is so hard to find and I can't believe we have it on the Westside. Facilities are very clean and love the ginger tea at the end! read more

I have so many good things to say about this spot. I got the signature 60 minute service and it was nothing short of amazing. I was in a pretty sour mood today, and my experience at A+ quite literally changed the trajectory of my entire day. I went in not really knowing what to expect and came out deciding I'll be coming here once a month for the foreseeable future. I'm normally not compelled to write reviews, and they didn't ask me to, but I have to shout out Cici for her gentle touch and demeanor and for setting the most relaxing, soothing atmosphere. I feel like my inner child was healed. Thank you to A+ spa! You just gained a new regular customer. read more

Absolutely Fabulous!! :) I booked 2 of the 60 minute scalp massages for me and my friend. As you walk in you are greeted by amazing staff. The ambiance is calming, clean and cute. We walked into their scalp room and we were given tops to wear before they began. The second step is having a scalp image before your session. You will receive a small shoulder massage leading to your head/ scalp. It's so relaxing and comfortable. After your message m, your hair gets dried and another image is taken to compare the results. Parking was easy to locate ( I found street parking not sure if they have parking in the rear). We both enjoyed the experience and will definitely return. Thanks again A+ Spa and to the Ladies that assisted us. See you soon . read more

Happy to see that a scalp/head spa has opened in west LA. However, I will be traveling to east LA in the future for this type of treatment. I've been to several similar places in LA, this was not my favorite... First of all my 90 minute treatment was not 90. And each time any customer entered the door, my guy left the room and I just laid there. For a scalp spa there was very little to no scalp massage, mostly scalp scratching which is still nice. My 90minute treatment did include a body massage but I'm really here for the scalp massage which I got hardly any to none of. He also wore gloves and it pulled and tucked on my hair so so much. Definitely felt a bunch of them get pulled out from the gloves. Also it just felt haphazard the sequence of the treatment.. it just is not half as good as the scalp spas in San Gabriel Valley. Sadly won't be returning. read more

This is a hidden gem 100 %. Everyone here is so sweet and genuine. Based off my needs I changed what I originally came for not because any services was pushed on me but because that's what I truly needed. The place is so clean and well organized! Very nicely designed. Not sure if there was in parking in the back I just parked on the street :) I was very relaxed throughout my treatment! I definitely will be coming in again! My hair feels so nice and smooth. Thank you everyone :) read more

Absolutely Incredible Head Spa Experience! I had the most amazing head spa experience and can't recommend it enough. From start to finish, everything felt thoughtful, relaxing, and incredibly luxurious. The scalp viewing was so informative and eye-opening. I loved seeing exactly what my scalp needed before the treatment began. The scalp treatment, shampoo, and scrub were all done with so much care and attention, and my hair and scalp felt unbelievably clean and refreshed afterward. What truly took it to the next level was the upper shoulder and arms massage. It was deeply relaxing and melted away so much tension. I didn't realize how much I needed it until I was there. The entire experience felt calming, professional, and indulgent. I left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and completely pampered. If you're considering a head spa, do yourself a favor and book. It's 100% worth it. I will absolutely be back. Highly recommend Serena and CiCi! Thank you, ladies! read more

I've been wanting to try a head/scalp treatment spa experience for a while now, so I came to A+ Spa. It exceeded my expectations! I had a 90-min session, starting with a back massage for 20 min, then the scalp treatment. Wow! The head, neck and shoulder massage was wonderful. The water temperature was perfect and my scalp feels invigorated. What a lovely experience. My hair has so much volume! Jojo did a fantastic job. read more

Didn't know what to expect with a scalp treatment, but saw this on Groupon. Very easy to make an appointment through the phone and was scheduled the same day! Easy street parking out front. Upon entrance, was greeted pleasantly and was impressed with the clean, relaxing atmosphere. They did not make me feel bad for having a Groupon as some places do. They graciously honored it as I had mentioned at the time of booking. They didn't try to up-sale me at all. They immediately took me back for a brief scalp analysis. They don't go into depth and took me back to the treatment room. They have you change into a different top robe so you don't get your shirt wet. The scalp massage and hair conditioning itself was so relaxing and heavenly. The initial female technician was gentle in her washing of my hair and scalp massage, and then the gentleman who did the neck and shoulder massage expertly hit pressure points. I only wish he did the scalp massage also as I appreciate strong pressure on my scalp too! They blow dried my hair and combed my hair out, revealing shiny hair with more volume! My scalp feels great, and I would definitely consider coming back for an extended spa treatment for another self care day! read more

!!! AVOID!!! This is by far the worst experience (I don't even want to call it head spa experience) because it was literally the most intense hard scratching 25 round of shampooing and ghetto bowl rinsing I've ever had in my entire life. The massage was her rubbing her arms all over my back for 30 minutes with no actual intention to relax any muscle. The lights were on the entire time. She used boiling hot water each time and my hair felt Fried at the end and it was so tangled someone else had to come in to fix it. The person doing my hair is named Cindy and Serena came to fix my hair at the end because it was so bad and so much kept falling out at the end. Seems like the only ounce of good here comes from her. DO NOT COME AND IF YOU DO AVOID CINDY. read more

I have had the most amazing experience. I had the head spa, massage and facial done. I will definitely be going back.

My mom and I just had the absolute WORST spa/salon experience in our entire lives! My mom purchased us Groupons to try Head Spa treatments for my birthday. We had a man and a woman. The man did the scalp analysis on us and took about 30 seconds on each of us. As soon as he put it to my head, he said "DRY! DRY! LOOK HOW DRY!" He then said "You need this hair mask." And pointed at the hair mask on the counter and said "$10". He put the tool on my mom's head and said the same thing before the image even popped up and told me to feel my mom's hair to feel "how horrible and dry" it feels. I have no problem being told I may have a dry scalp, but his entire demeanor and the way he spoke to us was so rude and inconsiderate -- it set a bad tone right off the bat. The woman did my treatment. The water went back and forth between extremely hot and extremely cold as she vigorously scraped my scalp over and over. The "head/neck/shoulder massage" portion I wouldn't really call a massage at all- she stood and pushed on my arms and tried to crack my fingers for 5 minutes. I received no neck/shoulder massage and about 3 minutes of head massage (mentioned later) The blow drying was absolutely INSANE. She blowdried my hair while I was still laying down on the table. Not only did she not put ANY heat protection on my hair, the dryer was on full blast full heat! She didn't use a brush and just kept roughly gripping my hair and flipping it around -- tangling it while it dried. She blew hot air into my ears and eyes several times. The man was finished with my mom's treatment by then so the woman left my hair half damp and tried to catch up by rubbing my head for a couple minutes. She then tried to continue blow drying my hair while I'm sitting on the bed -- after telling us to change out of our shirts. We could tell that they knew the service was horrible because they were scrambling around telling us "It's okay! It's okay! Don't worry! Relax!" After we changed back into our shirts, we came out and they told us to sit on small stools. There seemed to be no real procedure for what they were doing because she kept grabbing random products to spray into our hair with no real rhyme or reason. She then hurt my mom when she got the high frequency wand tangled in her hair (which was knotted from the same aggressive blow dry treatment). When that happened, we asked that she stop treatment and we will just leave. She kept interrupting my mom saying "it's okay, don't worry!" and WOULDN'T LET GO OF HER HAIR while she FORCIBLY untangled it. We kept telling her to stop and leave her hair alone, but she kept trying to untangle it. The man came out from another treatment room (where I think he had been going back and forth doing double treatments during my moms treatment) and told us to "Relax" and started pulling out the scalp analysis to try to "prove our hair is healthy now". He also kept loudly saying to my mom "Lady, relax, feel your hair! It's soft! Feel your hair, lady!" because she was ignoring him at this point. We finally told them we are leaving and got up and rushed out before they could try to force us to stay again. I have never in my entire life had such a jarring and uncomfortable experience in what should be a professional setting. I have NO IDEA how they have as many stars as they do -- I'm assuming due to the low number of reviews. I would recommend anyone on the fence -- DO NOT GO TO THIS SPA! read more

Steven and Serena went above and beyond! The headspa was wonderful and my hair felt clean and shiny afterwards. Appreciated how clean everything was. The head and shoulder massage was also a highlight. They went above and beyond when they noticed my frozen shoulder and even spent extra time giving that area TLC. Will definitely be coming back for a massage too. 10/10 recommend! read more

This was my first head spa and I have thick Asian hair with a lot of dandruff. The employees were very nice (and gave me ginger tea while waiting ) and the experience was amazingly relaxing. First, I bought two sessions for myself and my daughter because it was her birthday. It wasn't cheap. Our appointment was at 2pm. We sat in lobby for 30 minutes because it was obvious they were under-staffed. She put me in one room and my daughter in another, while she ran back and forth between us. I told her I did not want that kind of service and if she didn't have someone to stay with my daughter she could just work on her and I'd come another time. She said someone was on their way. She then put a moisturizer on my hair and I sat for another 15 minutes. I think she was trying to kill time while the other person arrived. Meanwhile, I was getting annoyed, ruining the relaxation I was intending to have. The other person arrived but my original tech kept the door open to the room I was in, I think to hear if anyone came in the front door because she didn't have anyone manning the front. That was also annoying. She kept leaving. At one time an older gentleman came in for his appointment and he walked right past my room as I lay there semi-exposed. She told him she couldn't take him at his scheduled time and he was NOT happy and walked back past my room complaining about their lack of professionalism, which I didn't blame him. She finished my session in a rush and I felt tense. My daughter enjoyed her session, which was the main point, so I didn't complain in front of her. But what made it even more annoying was my technician had the nerve to ask me if I was going to tip her, just as I was heading into my wallet. I didn't make a fuss because I didn't want to ruin my daughter's experience but if it wasn't her birthday I would have told the technician exactly how I felt and that I didn't think she deserved a 20% tip (what I usually would tip) and the fact that she had the nerve after such mediocre service...caused me to really tense up. And because she took us late, I had to run out and move my car and my daughter's car before I could even get myself together after getting up from the table. It was horrible. I give it two stars instead of one is because my daughter enjoyed her session and I feel if they had the correct amount of staff, my experience would have been better. She should have just rescheduled me. I will not recommend or return. read more

I recently took a trip to Santa Monica with a few friends, and after a long day of exploring, we were all feeling pretty worn out. We decided to treat ourselves to some relaxation and stumbled upon this head spa that had great reviews. I opted for a one-hour head massage and shoulder-neck relaxation package, and honestly, from the moment I stepped inside, I knew it was going to be worth it. First Impression: The Atmosphere Was Perfect As soon as I walked in, I was immediately drawn to the calming vibe of the place. The lighting was soft and warm--not too bright or harsh--and there was this gentle background music, kind of like a mix of flowing water and soft piano notes, that instantly made me feel at ease. The air had a subtle scent of lavender and lemon--not overpowering at all, just natural and soothing. I remember thinking, "Wow, they really know how to set the mood here." The receptionist was super friendly too, greeting me with a smile and handing me a cup of warm herbal tea. It was such a nice, welcoming touch. The Service: Professional and So Relaxing Once I was settled in, the therapist came over and had a quick chat with me. She asked if there were any areas that were particularly sore or if I had any specific concerns. I mentioned that I spend a lot of time hunched over at work, so my shoulders and neck are always stiff. She nodded and said she'd focus on those areas. Her technique was spot-on--not too light, not too heavy. During the scalp massage, it felt like my head was "breathing" as she gently worked her fingers over my temples and the back of my head. I was so relaxed that I almost dozed off! For my shoulders and neck, she used a warm towel first, which felt amazing, and then massaged the area, loosening up all the tension. My muscles felt like they were melting. One thing that really stood out was how attentive she was. Midway through, she softly asked, "Is the pressure okay? Would you like it lighter?" I told her it was perfect, and she smiled and said, "Just relax, and let me know if you need anything." It felt so personal and caring--not like a standard, robotic service at all. Afterward: I Felt Like a New Person When the hour was up, I stood up and genuinely felt lighter, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders--literally. That heavy, sluggish feeling I had before was gone, replaced by this refreshing sense of relaxation. Even my mood was better. I glanced in the mirror and noticed my face looked a bit brighter, probably from the improved circulation. My friend joked, "You look like a different person after that hour--your eyes are sparkling!" As we left, I looked back at the spa and felt so content. It was exactly what I needed. Final Thoughts: Highly Recommend Overall, this head spa experience exceeded my expectations. It wasn't the cheapest option, but for the quality of the service and the results, it was totally worth it. If you're in Santa Monica and feeling tired from sightseeing or just need a break from everyday stress, I can't recommend this place enough. The atmosphere, the service, and the way I felt afterward were all top-notch. I'm already planning to go back and try their other services, like the head massage with a hair wash--my friend said it's amazing too! read more
