Massage for Moms is not just for moms; I recommend her for everyone! Lori has very strong hands and is so intuitive when she works on your body. I've had intermittent issues with stiff neck and shoulders that other massage therapists have called "rocks", as well as other body aches from hard exercise. Lori asks before each appointment how your body is to understand what your needs are. She then pinpoints the problem areas, and knows just the right amount of pressure and areas to work to break up knots. Thanks to her, I have gone from being chronically stiff and sore to loose and flexible again. Throughout the years, I have had many massages from massage therapists and Lori is truly one of the best! I treated myself to several postpartum massage sessions at home after a long and tough natural birth. It was the best decision I could have made for my body, sanity and recovery. Lori is highly attuned to the needs of mommas and had a deep pressure that truly helped release tension spots. She makes her own oil made from chamomile that feels and works divinely. She also explained my body's healing process and where she felt I was holding stress/tension that was spot on to what I was feeling. Her added suggestions to complement my massage treatment (e.g. epsom salt bath) were helpful in making me release some of what my body was holding. I can't emphasize enough how much I recommend ALL new moms treat themselves to postpartum massage at home after birth. With all the demands of raising a newborn, this will be your saving grace! I purchased a massage for moms during a mamapedia special and received it during my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Lori was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, adept and kept checking in about the amount of pressure I needed. She didn't have a special table or pillow that allowed me to lie face down, but was able to give me a therapeutic massage on each side from a side-lying position. I highly recommend Lori for postpartum massage, especially if you had a difficult labor and delivery. Seeing her was a turning point in my recovery from a traumatic birthing experience. Due to health issues, I have had numerous massages over the past 15+ years, including orthopedic bodywork, and I agree that Lori is among the best. She has natural palpations skills that lead her hands to the exact areas that need attention, and consistently provides the right amount of pressure to leave your muscles feeling released and rejuvenated. First, I am not a newcomer to massages - and have had many different kinds of massages. With Lori, so far I have had a full massage, and two shorter massages . All three were incredible. Lori's awareness and understanding of the human body is apparent and her intuition and sensitivity are excellent. Somehow she is able to be both strong and gentle. She is competent and caring. She is also very professional, asks questions and invites feedback. I have had shoulder and lower back issues for quite a while and with the first massage she got me in touch with how I was moving, where I was tight, etc. I felt not only relaxed after the massage but encouraged that I could and would be able to heal myself. The second massage was in a massage chair and she did so much for my shoulders that i was completely pain free for a couple of days afterwards - first time in a long time. The third massage was mostly upper body and the result was incredible relaxation and a sense of well-being. I invited Lori to do massage at a reunion I hosted in August. She did 8 or 9 massages and EVERYONE came out looking completely blissed out. These are also people who have had many massages... they said she was excellent! I asked some of them if they talked with her during the massages much, and some said that they prefer quiet during massages for complete relaxation and she was totally respectful of that. I like a combination of both, myself. Besides massage, Lori is very knowledgable about a wide range of health related subjects, including western herbs and nutrition.
