I have been to the oakland one but not this one. There was one last slot before closing at 7pm with Neeya. Usually when I book later in the night I expect that the masseuse is tired because it is the end of the day but I was so wrong with Neeya! She gave her 110% which i was so impressed because I like pressure super strong and it was the end of the day. You could also tell she cared about getting the knots out and whenever she found a tight spot. She also checked in with me a lot to make sure she wasn't hurting me because she is really strong and I like pressure more than the average person I would say. She also really stretched me to the fullest extent! Anyways I was so impressed and that night I could actually sleep without being in pain from my back, neck, and head. I am so grateful and definitely will be going back!

That's alright though since the Thai massage itself was great. I made an appointment for a 90 minute Thai herbal massage. I've had other Thai massages in the past, so I decided to try the one with the herbal pouch to see how that would be. I filled on the intake paperwork and you can point out areas you want more focus on and areas you want them to avoid. Cayla was my assigned masseuse, and she was really attentive and made sure the pressure and such was alright. She checked to make sure I was okay being stepped on, and I was like oh yes please. I absolutely loved how much more stepping and stretching there was at this place compared to the other places I've tried. I didn't get "beat up" as bad in comparison, but it was still really nice. The herbal portion was a heated herbal pouch and she'd tap that at various areas during a portion of the massage. The heat felt pretty great. There were times where she had to step out to talk to someone or someone needed to talk to her, but the massage itself was excellent. If I had unlimited funds and was closer to Malai Thai Massage, I'd be getting these a lot more often!

Why choose Rachel?…read more Massage therapy should be a holistic experience that benefits both the mind and body. While massage helps promote relaxation and the release of endorphins, that experience can be diminished if the therapist appears disengaged or unhappy in their work. Whether you prefer conversation or silence, feeling comfortable and cared for is essential. Rachel consistently provides that experience through her warm personality, professionalism, intelligence, and genuine care for her clients. I specifically asked her to address my chronic shoulder pain, and she was able to identify and work on the muscles that were triggering my symptoms. The treatment was targeted, effective, and left me feeling significantly better. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I understand the importance of patient experience and quality care. It's easy to see why people appreciate Rachel's work ethic and the positive environment she creates. Good vibes overall. Thank you, Rachel!

Berkeley has a few great Thai massage places but therapists rarely speak English and they never seem to honor the specific therapist you book. I was looking for someone who will retain information on what I like and what my muscles need, and Rachel is exactly that kind of massage therapist.

I also received an incredible massage, in the same room as my daughter, which was really nice to be together. We both loved the ambiance of the spa, which is calm and peaceful. I am supposed to have the hip replaced in October. I decided to try a massage just to see if it would help me walk better. I went in for an hour massage and was lucky enough to get Lina. She concentrated on the knee and hip, as requested, but did the full body massage so I was totally relaxed. When she was finished my leg felt 100% better and my limp was almost gone. The results were amazing, so good I booked 90 minutes a week later. Once again, Lina did her magic and my hip and knee pain continued to decrease. My limp getting better and the aches at night diminishing. Today was my 4th time with Lina, this time 2 hours. I am walking without a limp and considering canceling the hip replacement surgery. Lina is a true professional. If you need/want a truly great massage do your self a favor and book 60-90 minutes with Lina. You'll be glad you did.

Unfortunately, the massage itself was just average and didn't stand out. What really left a bad impression was what happened afterward. As I was checking out, the employee stood at the front asking about a tip. I was honestly surprised. I had already paid significantly more than the advertised online price, and now I was being asked to tip on top of that. Businesses need to honor the prices they advertise or clearly update them online before customers book. Charging one price online and another price when the customer arrives is frustrating and misleading. The experience wasn't worth what I ended up paying.
