I was completely caught by surprise when I was booking a couples massage for me and my partner and I was met with disinterest, and was rushed by the representative helping me 2/5/2026 over the phone. Although she saw my fiancée had a package and I told her we would both use it, she still insisted I had to put my card information down. Not only is this private and secure information, but it was also unnecessary. I called back to cancel 2/6/2026 and was met with a different representative, when I asked clarifying questions about the policies the representative was argumentative, and defended the rep. who made my appointment in the first place. I am completely turned off, and will not be going to Merrick location or any Massage Envy anytime soon. This was completely disgraceful and unacceptable. Shame on Merrick location! read more

Let me start off by saying my masssge was actually quite good. What I didn't appreciate was the pressure from the staff to join their membership. I was here because I had received a gift card and I had not had a massage in a while so I made an appointment on a day that I was off from work. They book up very quickly especially on the weekends in fact the appointment that I made was made 2 months in advance. I'm not going to pay for a membership if I'm not going to be able to get frequent massages. I had a prenatal massage last summer while I was pregnant and it was pretty great. I forgot the name of the massage therapist but she was fantastic and the only reason why I can't bring myself to give this place fewer than 3 stars. Hoping got lightening to strike twice, I returned last week and used a gift card to get another massage- this time a 60 minute one....or so I thought. My massage was at 9. I was completely dressed by 9:45. For $125 plus tip, call me crazy but I was expecting to get massaged for the entire hour, or at least 55 minutes of it. My other gripe is- I feel like the massage therapist didn't even listen to what I wanted. I said my problem areas were my arms and legs (on account of my infant who refuses to ever be put down, like ever...) yet she spent most of the massage working on my back. The worst part is, the massage wasn't even that good. They use so much oil! And then save the scalp massage for when their hands are buttered up just right?! Do they do that on purpose?? I left 15 minutes ahead of schedule (again, I paid for 60 minutes and got 45), all greased up and not very relaxed. I have a two month old baby with severe colic. I had a membership and never had a problem with the therapist. However, there was a great deal of conversation outside of the room, making it difficult to relax.This happened on more than one occasion. Not only that, but when I said I wanted to cancel my membership, they challenged me and took a long time to provide me with the paperwork necessary to make that happen. I had a credit of a massage coming to me, and they never notified me that it had an expiration date. I always received a text prior to the other appointments. I was told there was nothing they could do to credit me for the massage. They withdrew money from my account for the massage as per the agreement. So I've had massages in the past and they've left me with pain that lasts for up to 3 days or I'd have to go to my chiropractor and have him readjust my neck and back! Well I get facials in many places - massages and facials are a must needed to do for my problem skin on my face and sore muscles in my back!!!! I wasn't that happy for the policy of still charging if you need to reschedule or cancel. It also would have been nice if they could have waived the fee and scheduled me later that day so I could get the full time. That way the esthetician still fills her time. Nope it was $60 down the drain. I was a bit late and the esthetician could only do half the time. Even that half hour was pretty wasted. She attempted to do some extractions but it wasn't much effective. She also moved slowly (which would be normal for a 60-90 min one). I have had 1/2 quick facials before that still left my skin glowing. Or at least extractions. She was extremely nice though and I would not deny going to her again for another shot. I an a massage enthusiast and enjoy getting them at least once a month to fine tune or when I have an aching problem. I had a sore back and decided to cash in a gift card to Massage Envy. I heard this was not the best chain and my experience proved them right. First, someone sat with me and went over each iPad form with personal information whilst other customers sat in the same area. Either let me do it on my own in private or take me to a private area. How uncomfortable of someone to ask me what spots hurt and my medical history in the middle of the waiting room. I will say the facility is clean but that is the only positive. My masseuse was friendly but it was the most amateur and debilitating experience. I asked her to be firm (I prefer deep tissue and have a high pain tolerance) but it was light. On top of this it caused me severe pain the next few days. She massaged my back in such an awkward way she ended up severely hurting me. My back was inflamed, it hurt to stand or walk for long periods of time. One night it was so severe I was awoken by the pain, I had to lay flat on the ground for the pain to subside. The next day I had to stop in the super market isle to sit because the pain was unmanageable. I took Advil for 2 days to help with the pain and inflammation, drank an excessive amount of water and stretched. I have never had a massage that put me out the way this one did. Had an unfortunate first time visit. My massage started late to begin with. Told Susan that I wanted most of my massage to be on my lower back because I've been having pain. My back was only worked on for 5 minutes before she told me that it was over and I could get changed. Also jabbing me in the lower back and butt doesn't count as a massage. Me and my husband always get couples massage. Best thing ever. When we get there they greet us nicely and our last name, and within minutes we getting our massage. I so relaxing I fall asleep. For my birthday I got a greeting card with a free upgrade for a Deep Muscle Massage or Aromatherapy. I picked Aromatherapy and now lavender is my favorite smell. I purchased myself a gift card to ensure I went to treat myself during covid. I went with my friend and we were both able to get a same time appointment which was nice. Everyone there was super friendly which was a plus. My masseuse was super nice but the massage was not great. I requested a firm massage and for more pressure. I feel like I was literally just being rubbed with oil the whole time. I usually prefer quiet time during massages so I can relax but we talk the whole time (which was ok because she was nice) but I kept emphasizing I liked firm massages and she said ok but there was no improvement in pressure whatsoever. My friend and I also paid for a 60 mins massage but only got 50 mins. My friend and I like the same type of massages and she said she got Peggy and she was good and firm. My friend also said she had a hot towel placed on her back and Peggy also massaged her hands, feet and scalp as well. I literally only got a rub down on my back with oil. My arms and legs were also lightly done. I'm extremely upset and disappointed with in my experience. My body had aches which is why I wanted to get a massage here, but it was pointless for me to go. This was absolutely my worst experience ever getting a massage. First off, it was supposed to be for myself and a friend as a Christmas gift. They canceled our original session together and ended up giving us consecutive sessions back to back, which was a major inconvenience. They then proceeded to ask us questions about the focal points that we wanted the masseuse to hone in on in which she never touched. The massage therapist talks way too much. She would not shut up the entire time I was in there relaxed NO! I was more stressed when I left there then when I came in. It is supposed to be a quiet calming experience. How are you supposed to relax when your masseuse won't shut up. She spent a good 20 minutes on my upper back. Never touching my lower back when I specifically asked for it and then I felt like my grandma was rubbing my legs and arms down with oil, this wasn't a massage it was a gentle rub down. I don't care where she got trained. She should not be doing this job and as I was sitting in the lobby, it felt like they had the geriatric staff waiting to serve everybody and let me mention this is my second time going the first time I went with my husband, and he complain that the old lady that gave him a massage. Disgusted him and her hands were dry and very uncomfortable. Not to mention she never gave him an appropriate massage. I can't for the life of me even understand how this place is still in business in Merrick I hope the rest of their facilities are not like this, but this place is the worst, and should be shut down. read more

I have visited this location twice and both times, I've had an "okay" experience. I don't believe the masseuses are actually trained professionally. Each session I've had felt like a very gentle back rub from my grandma. Which brings me to the point that the "masseuses" I've seen and interacted with are mainly senior citizens. The front desk is nice and the walls in the rooms are very thin leaving external conversations and sounds to echo into the rooms.. not relaxation to be had. In my opinion, this spa is over priced for a mediocre experience. I should have demanded a refund but I knew from my first visit not to expect much. The whole experience could have been extremely better. From the second I walked in, the receptionists were really unprofessional- loud, taking personal phone calls, and if you work at a "spa" I don't think ugg slippers are the appropriate attire, I found that very strange. After the masseuse named Janet brought me in and told me to change, she asked what I do for a living and I said that I was a nurse and she replied ok I know exactly what you need. Paying $150 for a massage I was really looking forward to feeling relief since I'm on my feet a lot and have lot of tension in my neck/back which I had explained. She talked for about 25 minutes into the massage which I thought was a little excessive but fine. That wasn't even close to the worst part. Instead of a nice firm massage that I requested and was looking forward to, I was soaked in oil and RUBBED for 80 (not 90) minutes...she never asked me if I was okay with the intensity or if using oil was okay. I hate having oil on my skin and at every spa I've been to they always ask me if oil is fine to use. On top of that she didn't even give me a towel to wipe it off so my clothes were all gross after. To end it, she only "massaged" me for 80 minutes and I paid for 90 minutes which I find completely ridiculous. I was so fed up to even argue and just walked out. I don't know who thinks that that is okay but it's so wrong and unfair to customers. I usually buy Groupons for massages because chain spas are usually so overpriced and not worth it but this time I figured why not try it because I was in need of a really nice massage and decided to splurge, and I became even more disappointed than I've ever been at a cheap no-name spa. I'm absolutely appalled by this experience and I definitely will not be coming back or recommending this location to anyone. On that note, enjoy! :) I was so incredibly grateful when a friend gave me a certificate to get a massage at Envy. He goes on the regular (to the one in Oceanside) and raves about it. So I called to make my appointment and got a snarky attitude from the receptionist but figured they were just having a bad day and scheduled a Hot Stone Massage. I showed up for the appointment and was greeted with "kindness" (a little fake) and hot tea (so far so good!). This was my first time at a spa so I didn't really know how things worked. My masseuse was OK. Talked a little too much, the bird noises weren't really my thing but whatever. After an hour, she stops and tells me to meet her outside when I'm done getting dressed. I was confused and asked if I needed to go to another room for the hot stone to where she delivered a blank stare. Apparently, the receptionist messed up my appointment and scheduled a Swedish massage for an hour. They weren't really too apologetic and didn't offer any way to make up the mistake (and the excruciating pain they caused). All they did was try to push a package on me which, of course I totally wanted! lol I really hate stupid sales people, you know the ones who don't know when to cut their loses. To sum it up, I had a bruise on my back, I left with a swollen knee and leg cramp and more pain than I had felt in weeks. I would NEVER go back to the Merrick location nor advise anyone else to. And I am not the only person who has had an experience like this. Seeing as that this place keeps your credit card on file, it seems a bit unfair and unprofessional to hold me responsible for possibly missing an appointment, yet offer no perks when one of their masseuses cannot make a couples massage that was scheduled two weeks in advance....TWICE. I was basically pushed into a package deal which I regret bc if you don't use all your massages they can accumulate and then expire 30 days after you cancel your membership. Oh and another stupid act they have going is they will continue your member ship onto the next year and won't tell you about it. How nice! A**ho! So if you have a job and responsibilities u probably are like me and can't always have the luxury to use up all your massages, but they don't care. I really wanted to love Merrick Massage Envy as the price is right and the location is right around the corner from my house but unfortunately everything about this location deserves 1 star. I had my massage cancelled 4 times in a row. Once because my masseuse was sick (understandable), then because my masseuse had a schedule change, then because my masseuse quit, and finally because my masseuse changed her schedule again. I actually laughed the last time they called. All in all, it is an unreliable branch and caused me way more stress than they did relaxation! The quality of massage is 5/10 at best and scheduling is very difficult. I highly recommend you look elsewhere. To be completely transparent, after the 4th cancellation I turned around and cancelled my membership leaving 2 massages in my bank...lost money but I was actually so relieved to be done with the company that I didn't even care. read more

In order to book a massage they want you to hold the massage with a credit card. Why should I keep my credit card on their file when my wife already paid with a gift card. If you don't use the credit card you loose your spot, which happened to me, and I had to return an hour and half later. On the 2nd round I gave them my card, which the manager was kind enough to remove from their system when I showed up for the massage. They want you there 15 minutes early so they can customized your massage. The customization includes a long list of questions that is marketing material. The questions include asking if you have a flex spending account for your medical. The massage started 4 minutes after the hour and ended 4 minutes early. I made appointments for two massages at different times two months in advance. For the first massage I was informed that the massage therapist would not be there. Okay--I can deal with that. Rescheduled and then was called again to say she wouldn't be in at all--and would have to be canceled. Had to talk to a manager to get another therapist for a hot stone massage. I have never experienced a bad massage at Massage Envy. Some therapists are more intuitive than others and some are more professional than others but the massages they are trained to perform are satisfactory. I only had one therapist than I wouldn't go back to because of a lack in professionalism. I felt vulnerable when asked to turn over from face down to face up because the sheet was removed completely and I felt nervous that when I turned over face up that I had been exposed. No one has ever done that there before, usually they tell you which direction to roll and keep you comfortably covered. This was a no no. I was embarrassed and also chilly! You also need to share how much pressure you want them to use. i have had mostly therapists with heavy hands which is good for some areas but I have to instruct them to be lighter in other areas that are more sensitive. It's a no frills massage that is worth the money. It's clean, runs on time, and everyone is friendly. I won't mention my favorite because then they might book up too fast! I do find it hard to book massages with short notice. I have trouble with my back and shoulder and when it acts up I try to get a massage but most times I can't get one that same day. I still would recommend it because the positive outways the negative. read more
