With mounting stress from work and school, I needed a quick, but reasonably priced fix to relieve the tension that I was carrying in my neck and shoulder area. Per doctors orders, I took a break from kickboxing, started my yoga practice again, and decided to buy the 3 month membership to ME. The Crofton location is well kept and the staff is always polite. I've had 2 massages there and my masseuse really did a good job working out the knots. During my initial visit, he said my back felt lumpy like peanut brittle. LOL. Grateful it no longer feels like that. I returned last week to try ME's facial service. It was a basic facial, but not very enjoyable. Twenty minutes into the facial I inquired about the room's temperature. It was cold, which prevented me from relaxing. The esthetician said the lady before you was comfortable... I said maybe she is a warm natured woman, but can you adjust the temperature in this room and heat the bed please (and thank you). She obliged and I eventually felt warmer. The other issue I had was the smell of some of the products. I appreciate rich, luscious products that smell nice too. Technically my regular full service spa caters to a different higher end market, but I do enjoy all my senses being stimulated. Despite my minor issues, I would recommend this location for 60 or 90 min massages and basic facials. Also, visit if you would like to buy Murad products. They stay well stocked, offer late appointments, and accept walk-ins as well. read more

This is my first time having a professional massage. Came here on a Saturday morning with my mom. She got some stretch thing (can't remember what it's called), but she said she loved it. Renee was my masseuse and she was AMAZING!! Omg that massage was so awesome I didn't want to leave. She frequently asked if everything was ok, which I appreciate. After the massage, she gave me some water and offered some recommendations for my next visit. I'll def be back and I will be requesting Renee!! I can't remember the guy at the front desk who helped us (sorry!), but he was bald and so friendly and helpful! He made sure we understood everything that we were filling out and asked us questions specific to our personal needs. He somehow was able to get my mom to become a member, which is outstanding in itself because she never signs up for anything! Good job!! The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. I had 2 terrible experiences with the massues at the Severna Park location - 1 telling me not to do yoga or I will let the devil in and another body shaming me and giving unsolicited medical advice. DO NOT go to the massage envy in Waugh chapel. I received a massage there on Saturday by Celia, which was SO painful. The therapist told me word for word "just breathe I just need to hear the crunch." I was saying ouch ouch.. and asked her to go lighter. I asked for her to just do a normal massage because it was all stretches that were extremely painful which did not happen and I was told we only have five minutes left. Then when checking out they added $10 to the total of what they originally told me because the girl who scheduled me was confused and told me the wrong amount. I called to get a refund because this was so wrong how the appointment went and the pricing. I was told by Shannon, I still received a service despite it not being what I asked for so I won't be receiving a refund. The best they can do is a 30 min massage to make up for the 60 min massage I paid for and didn't get. Why would I want to come back to receive a service less than what I paid for at a place with such bad service?? Who knows if they will actually stick to that when I'm done like the changed the price on me. The therapist also tried to promote her coming to my house and gave me her personal info. The whole place is unprofessional and a scam. The manager, Shannon, is rude, the staff is not knowledgeable of their own prices, and the massage therapist will lie to cover their own self. Still, it doesn't seem like it will ever be fixed, so I thought I would bring this to the attention of potential clients wanting to receive service at Massage Envy at the Waugh Chapel location. I had service done there on January 12th, my son and I. I got a massage first and completely forgot to take off my necklace because we were running behind time, and then a facial and my son got a facial done. During my massage, my necklace went missing. When my esthetician came to the same room where I got my massage done, I brought it to her attention. She said that maybe it fell and she would ask the masseuse when we were done. To make a long story short, my necklace was never found, and the manager was no help. I called her several times, sent her an email, and showed up there several times, and she wasn't any help at all. What I noticed she was good at was blowing hot smoke up your butt. She stated that she had to get the general manager to pull the camera; she couldn't access it her inself. She noted that the general manager said that it was a new camera system but that they would pull the footage off of it. I called Anne Arundel County Police and complained that someone had stolen my necklace. The manager told me to contact the 1-800 number she gave me because she stated that she could not give me the general manager's email address or anybody over her email address so I could email them directly instead of emailing her what she requested. She gave me a 1-800 number. No one ever answers, and no one ever calls you back. The manager there does not have customer service etiquette at all, and you can tell that she is not a happy person. I sat in the parking lot and called, looking at her not answer the phone, and then walked in, and she said oh, I was on another call when she was lying, but I didn't want to go back and forth with her she never answers the phone, and she doesn't follow up with you. I would suggest if anyone wants a massage, then go to Robert Andrews, which is nearby, or any other Massage Envy. You get what you pay for. read more

I had a lot of expetation for this place. Unfortunately it was one of my worst experience and I had alot massages all over the world. The ligth was on very bright in my face the whole time. No music played in the room. Actually the AC motor was very loud. The message was supposed to be 1hr but it felt like it was only 30 minutes. From a full body message service (which i paid full price for) it end up being a wired leg stretching message. This is one of the worst places I have ever dealt with. They have terrible customer service. They don't have managers to help on the weekends and they try to screw you over even though you pay on time every month. The customer service is horrible. They didn't used to be so bad but I'm guessing they have changed their employees. I've been hung up on multiple times or left on hold for over 20 mins. They have canceled my scheduled massages four times with no notice and calling day of. Then not able to reschedule for over a month. I have been very unhappy with Massage Envy Crofton for awhile. I can NEVER get appointments so I thought well I'll just go to Massage Envy in Annapolis which was fine. I recently decided I don't want to continue my agreement and I've had it longer than the year (actually almost two years now) so I didn't think it would be an issue. Even cancelling is an issue. I have gone by the Crofton location and they always give me the run around and seem clueless on how to terminate my contract. So I emailed and called them, they finally emailed me back, I sent my part of the cancellation portion back and stated I would do sign it after they return it with their portion filled out. Now they are telling me I have to sign it before they can fill it out. Excuse me? Who signs a document before it is completely filled out? Not me. Now they're telling me I have to come in on certain times/days because there is only one person able to cancel my agreement. Unfortunately, Massage Envy Crofton is a franchise and I cannot cancel in Annapolis. Absolutely ridiculous getting the run around and so much rudeness from them. read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy for years and I have always used the Crofton location. My experience at this location was always positive but in the past year it has drastically changed. This location is under staffed and it makes it very difficult to schedule any appointments. Every time I try to schedule an appointment the receptionist informs me they don't have enough therapist and to try again next month. They offer to put me on a waiting list but never call me for the services that I utilize. During the last year I have accumulated 18 sessions by pay my monthly fee but haven't been able use them. This has become very frustrating to me as a customer. I have asked for some assistance from the management team and they have been less then helpful. It doesn't make sense for me to continue to pay my month fee and accumulate more sessions if I am not able to use the lesions that I already have. The problem is Message Envy traps you because they will not allow you to use the sessions that you have already paid for if you don't continue to pay their monthly fee. I feel that they have over sold their services and can nolonger meet the customers needs. I would highly recommend that you spend your time and money with a massage therapist that relives your stress and doesn't provides you with more stress in your life. read more

They did not offer any add on services that I often get (example hot towels, oil, with bio freeze). My appointment was at 3:30pm. I arrived a few minutes early. My massage therapist was friendly and nice however, he never asked if I would like the heat turned on for the massage table, if the pressure he was applying was ok before or during the massage. He started me face down. When he got to my feet when I was face down at times it appeared if maybe he was dozing off/falling asleep due to his brief slow stops when he was rubbing extremely slow on my feet..(3 second stops when rubbing my feet) . To his credit he did ask how was I feeling towards the end of the massage and also after the massage. He did focus on a problem area in my neck. Although he was a nice guy, I would say the massage in general was a "lazy massage service". (A mild rub down service with occasionally some forearm techniques. Also I would have preferred the massage therapist flip flop sliders be kept on not off when providing service to clients. Even though my head was face down in the neck rest, my eyes were open and I could still see. The room was a little stuffy. Again, he was a nice guy but I'm keeping it honest with my opinion. (Massage Therapist first Name I purposely decided not to provide out of respect, only first initial "J". I also would like to suggest that the start and end times of the massage be verbalized. This was a 90 minute service and I question if I even received 75 minutes. I was walked back at 3:38pm. It took 1) 20 seconds to arrive to the massage room; 2 minutes for follow up briefing during which I asked for a breast pillow; 3 minutes for therapist to return with breast pillow; 1 minute for me to undress; it took quite a while 6 minutes before the therapist returned my massage actually began. All and all the location is clean. I have received much better front desk customer service at the Arundel Mills, Columbia, and Elliott City locations. This was my first time visiting this location. This massage envy location is privately owed so they don't honor the free birthday add on service if they are not your home office. read more

I've had a ME membership for about two years now. I have not been disappointed with any of the massages I've had at the Crofton location. Sure, some therapists are not a great fit - for me. I generally like to bounce around, because all the therapists give a different massage. It only took 2 or 3 massages to find my person. I've had positive experiences with all the people at the front desk - no complaints. I was wary of a chain place and the quality, but so far so good. I have been on this mission for complete wellness and Massage Envy Crofton is now a permanent part of my mission. My first visit today was because of a gift card given to me on my birthday. I didn't know at the time that it would literally change my life. Welcoming environment from my initial call to set up my appointment through signing up for membership at checkout. As I filled out my initial paperwork I watched several clients move in and out with ease. Checking in members were welcomed and headed to the "Tranquility Room" while those checking out scheduled future appointments. No one was pressured into buying a membership but rather offered the opportunity to do something for themselves. Which seems to work in their favor. Once my massage therapist was ready he came out to greet me ready to get started. Jake was awesome from beginning to end. He walked me through everything made sure I was comfortable and once he started the massage I was literally transported to peaceful place. The room was tranquil, lighting and sounds were appropriate. The only negative I had was the room I was in was near the restroom and during my massage you could hear the door opening and closing over the ambient soundtrack, which somewhat disturbed the peace I believe they truly try to achieve for clients(which is really the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars) After massage was over, Jake reviewed the session and identified my stress areas and his recommendations for future massages. Last year, my husband and I decided to get a membership, at first the front desk receptionists were friendly and professional, but after a few months they gave attitude, were very rude and it seemed that they need customer service training. They need some more knowledge of the company's policy, and they need to have communication between them. I have never been to a chain massage spa before but thought, wth, let's try it. You can't beat the price - $49 for an hour massage. Actually it's $49 for your first massage. I decided to try this place out because of the great review that my boss gave for Massage Envy. Also, I know it's not a groupon special where every Tom, Dick and Harry are going to book all the good time slots. I called for an appointment today and they took a credit card over the phone to book for an appointment scheduled for the same day. If you didn't come to your appointment, they will charge you. At first I was kind of skeptical giving my credit card over the phone that wasn't a pizza or Chinese food joint, but I was in need of a massage. I booked a couples massage and the receptionist told me over the phone that if it was okay that one massage therapist was a dude and the other a female. Of course not because I had first dibs on the male therapist! Initially, my husband didn't want to go because he wanted to watch the AT&T National on the tube (Go Tiger!) because of his obsessiveness for Billy Hurley. I told him to dvr it and get over it. Anyway, we ended up listening to it on the PGA channel on our way there. I was really glad that we went to to the massage because on our way there, he was freaking out about not finding that channel on Sirius. Then he said that he gets first dibs on the male massage therapist and I get the female one. I know it sounds weird, but I guess we both like firm, hard pressure when it comes to massages. I know females can give good massages but I guess we didn't want to be the test dummy if she couldn't. You fill out a questionnaire about your health, what kind of pressure do you want, do you want your belly, ass and torso massaged? Any health problems or problem spots? Scored parking in front, check. Clean, sterile front office, check. Bathrooms were clean, check. Staff, nice and sweet, check. My massage - holyfuckingbatshit Robin! Off. the. chain. I felt like jello after. Check. Needless to say, I ended up with the dude and my husband got the female. They probably made that decision prior or what I was thinking was that poor dude didn't want to massage another hairy guys back, lol. Prior to the massage, they asked you if you had any concerns... Do you work at a desk job, sit on your ass all day? You undress where you want your therapist to massage you. So if you didn't take your bra off, he won't massage your back. Y'all know I was naked under the sheets! He gave me a full body swedish massage and he was wonderful. The massage table was heated comfortably. He massaged me from head to toe! Literally! I felt sooo relaxed. In fact so relaxed, we bought the membership. When the massage ended, my hair was disheveled, my eyeliner was smudged and I said loudly, I wish this was a 90 minute massage! If I was a smoker, I would probably have puffed on one after, lol. Yes, it was THAT good. You won't be disappointed with Massage Envy in Crofton. I called on Friday and was given an appointment for Saturday, perfect! I went in for the 90-minute facial with Denise, who was very friendly and informative, explaining the process and all of the products she was using. She made some recommendations on products available for purchase (as they always do in every salon I've ever been to), but there was no pressure to buy anything. Even after the explanation of what happened, they still charged him for a service that didn't happen. We went back through his email to ensure if there were any email confirmation for the appointment. He never got the email confirmation(s). He was nice enough to schedule a new appointment at the location we ended up at. They basically gave us the spa's protocol on what they do when someone has an upcoming appointment and what happens when a client is late. As far as I'm concerned, he never got the email confirmation as they told us or the reminder phone call the day before, not days before. The front desk was warm and welcoming. The massage was umm, different. I didn't realize the elbow technique was something therapists actually used. The digging of an elbow in my back for a deep pressure massage was not really what I was expecting. Needless to say, I am bruised from the "deep pressure" elbow my back was subjected to. There were times I felt like the therapist was scraping the skin off of my back, it felt like a rub burn. I must admit, the massage was subpar. I received a gift card for Valentine's Day. I had never received a legitimate massage before, and I was pretty excited. The receptionist was welcoming. I filled out way too many things. I filled out a form online of what I wanted, I filled out a questionnaire on what I wanted when I arrived, and then the receptionist asked me again what I wanted. Now I don't know if someone ruined this for everyone, but I felt completely ignored. I walked into the room, and the vent above me literally dropped dust on me. The technician watched this happen and just said "oh I'll let them know." We didn't switch rooms. My technician didn't actually address the parts of my body I told her to take more time on (which was clearly emphasized after filling out forms multiple times as stated before). I was supposed to have an hour and only received 45-50 mins or so. There's literally a clock in the room. All around terrible experience. I finally was finished, and went to pay, and the receptionist literally wouldn't stop mentioning gratuity. I've worked in the service industry for years so I was planning to tip 20% regardless. I recently had my first professional massage in over 20 years at Elements Massage, in Crofton, Maryland. My first contact with Elements was when I called to schedule an appointment. I was trying to figure out how to go about requesting a female vs. a male therapist without sounding like a pervert when the receptionist ask, "What would you prefer, a male or female?" Now that the question was asked and answered, we had to find a convenient appointment time for both a female therapist and myself. Amanda was available so she became my therapist for the day. Arriving at the facility, I was greeted by a receptionist at the front desk who was welcoming, pleasant and professional. I immediately was made to feel at ease. After completing the paperwork, I browsed though an Element's binder that displayed information and background on each therapist who worked there. I immediately looked up Amanda's background and experience. Amanda was very good. She made me feel comfortable. She asked if I had any areas of concern and she paid particular attention to the areas that I identified. The atmosphere in the massage room was clean and comfortable. The lights were dimmed and the music was soft relaxing. The massage table was warm and comfortable. Not only did I enjoy the 55 minute massage, but also I enjoyed talking with Amanda. Our talk mostly centered around the information obtained about her in the Element's binder and her questions about me. I asked her what type of massage I was going to get and asked if it was Swedish? She indicated that it was not going to be Swedish but closer to a deep tissue massage. I enjoyed the deep tissue massage much more than the Swedish massage that I had experience 20 years earlier. She indicated that my muscles were very tight and that I needed to stretch more and get regular massages. She also recommended drinking plenty of water after the massage was completed.
