Massage was fine although I thought my shoulder was being dislocated at one point. My main beef with this place is after my massage I got cornered into hearing about the membership options for about 10 minutes. To start, this was my first experience in any Massage Envy chain and my first time in Bellevue from Texas. Judging by the low rating, this experience was everything but relaxing. I was assigned to Sharon as my "masseuse" if she even is deserving of that title. She started off with a quick consultation for what was supposed to be a full body 60 minute massage. I let her know most of my tension was in my shoulder and neck area. She then proceeds to use the MOST FIRM ELBOW pressure in these regions, to which I quickly let her know hurt and if she can readjust. She kept switching from elbow pressure to forearm in the same spots over and over again, each time adding more pressure. Again, I had to ask her to lighten the pressure as it was causing more pain than anything. Out of the 60 minute massage, I would say about 45 minutes was on my upper back and the last 15 minutes being for my arms and legs. All she did for my legs was stretch and wiggle them. I don't know to what standard Massage Envy holds their masseuses to, but this was so sub-par that I didn't even know what to say. Coming back from the massage, I noticed a hot and tight pain on my left shoulder. I went to check it out and found the whole region red, swollen and bruising (pictures were taken to document this and add to this review). The only reason I'm leaving any stars at all is for Dillon at the front desk, who deserves infinite stars for his kindness and helpfulness. This would have been a five star until they changed the legacy package and made us who were grandfathered in to pay what the new members are paying. The massage therapists and the front desk staff are great. I have been a member for over 10plus years! I used to come 2-3 x month, but now I see my LMT 1x a month and esthetician 1x every 6 months. It takes a while to find the correct LMT for you. I love my person. She can tell what muscles need work on and I always am feeling relaxed, stretched and less painful. I joined ME in La Quinta, Ca, where I spend the winter. The Bellevue/Eastgate location charges over $20 more for the same 90 minute service due to a "cost of living charge" (which makes no sense because the desert in Ca is not cheaper than Eastgate). In addition they make you use a seperate credit card for the tip, and add a service charge for using it (the California location will let you use the credit card on file at no additional charge). Also, they suggest you tip on the non member price, which seems pretty inflated (see photo attached). Some of the massages are pretty good and I had a bad one by a guy once-asked at the front desk if they review my file as I want firm pressure and he barely touched me-to which they said "no they don't". One therapist years ago lectured me/talked the whole time about what I should be doing differently, which totally ruined the relaxation part of the experience (although I am not sure she is there anymore). I tried a facial once and she tried to sell me all kinds of things I don't need. In general I just feel like this location nickel and dimed me and I am considering freezing my membership for the rest of the summer. Great service, everyone is extremely nice and welcoming, from my experience all of the massage envy I have been to in more than one state have always been clean and nice. But more than that, I easily had the best massage that I've ever had here at this Massage Envy. I have had multiple orthopedic surgeries, so I have to have regular massages and I, well, flexible, I'm pretty specific about what I want in terms of pressure and focus. I've never had a masseuse that was so attentive and responsive to what I requested. Not to mention he was just absolutely wonderful at what he does. I wish I remembered his name and I'm gonna try and figure it out so I can add it to this review because I can't recommend this place and this masseuse enough!!! read more

The massage service I received today was unacceptable and the worst massage I have received in years. I don't know what type of qualifications are required to be a masseuse here, but they should be revised. I signed up for a 60min massage and stated I wanted medium pressure. After this lady rubs my back for 10minutes with no pressure whatsover, I ask her to increase the pressure. She then proceeds to dig her elbow so incredibly hard onto my back causing me a piercing pain. I don't understand if she did that on purpose or it was due to her lack of training. I had a very negative experience for something that should be relaxing, I left in pain and $100 wasted for a mediocre service. I recommend you go somewhere else. I will not be back here. read more

This location's front of house staff made me feel so uncomfortable. The staff is condescending, snarky, and gives no direction after you check in. If this is not your home membership location then you have to pay a fee on top of your credit, "because their services are more expensive than the other locations." For an extra 10 minutes of driving, I'm going to Issaquah. They are more welcoming, offer more services like hot stones, and the actual massage services are just as good, if not better. The extra fee Bellevue charges just feels like a slap in the face. read more

Update May 2013: After a full year as a member and for my last massage, I was given the SHAFT as a going away gift. I scheduled my last massage session and they did not have my regular therapist available during that time so they had to push out the appointment date a few weeks. This caused my session to be outside of the membership time frame which they said should not be an issue. After my session, they charged me non-member prices for my final massage price. I tried unsuccessfully to contact Cathy, the owner, on numerous occasions and could not reach her directly and kept getting the runaround from their staff folks and manager (several weeks of excuses like "she is on vacation" and "we will leave her a message to call you back"). I am forced to accepted the bill for a charge for at least $100 over what I normally would pay. A warning to members that are down to their last massage on their membership, be careful on this or face the same fate. I am so irate I had to take a minute to do an update on my experience; is this how you want to run a business? read more

I had a 60 minute massage here that left a lot to be desired. The staff was really nice but the massage itself was super disappointing. I filled out a survey at the beginning of my massage indicating I wanted my shoulders, glutes and feet rubbed. And it was pretty much a 60 minute arm massage. As far as Massage Envy locations go, this is one of the better ones (which, I'm sorry, isn't saying a ton). The staff are polite, professional and helpful. They have a larger location than the Issaquah one and with that comes more massage therapists, so scheduling an appointment isn't quite as much of a challenge. However, what prevents me from giving them a higher rating is that they don't always pick up the phone. The last time I had an appointment scheduled, I tried to call beforehand multiple times and the phone just continued to ring. I called back a few hours later and finally someone picked up. I've had some issues with scheduling an appointment online and was recommended to call in to make sure I was paired with a therapist who best suited my needs, and yet ironically, can't get through half the time. read more

Discrimination or Miscommunication?? I have been going here for over 2 years. Jeff is one of the best massage therapists I have ever gone to. So great in fact, I booked him out for all of 2020 to have weekly massages. On my last massage of 2020, an extreme miscommunication happened during the first 10 minutes of my massage, where I was told that I was being singled out and not allowed to have weekly appointments anymore. I was told that it was because I was not a member at that location. Logic told me this couldn't be true, but nevertheless, my mind spiraled and I left in tears 30 minutes into my 90 minute appointment. I have a health condition that has no cure and no treatment and have been disabled now for a year. My massages made each week bearable, so the thought of losing this made me a bit frantic. This was over a month ago now, and despite my numerous attempts (text, email, phone) to have someone say "oh my gosh, we are so sorry about the miscommunication" or have someone at least validate that there was a miscommunication - crickets. I even reached out to corporate and after one email response....nothing. I'm left thinking that it must have been discrimination???? I have cancelled my membership as of today and will never frequent a Massage Envy ever again. Communication and treating people with respect is so important. Trying for a month in giving them a chance to make it right with a validation, is more than enough time, am I wrong? read more

I was having a hard day and was very tight and was having a hard time walking and hurting a lot because of the stress of my job and my disability. I called Massage Envy at Eastgate and spoke with an amazing woman who was able to get me in that same day. When I got there, the clinic was so clean and peaceful. I was given a tour, as it was my first time and was seated in the tranquility room. My therapist then brought me to the massage room. The therapist was very respectful and gave a great deep tissue massage and checked on me but did not talk to much. The bed was warm and the whole experience was great. When he was done, he had warm water for me to drink when I got out of the room. What a great experience and I will be back! read more

I have never felt so uncomfortable in a place, let alone a place that's supposed to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I received a gift card for massage envy from a friend to help me feel a little better after experiencing a miscarriage and a death of a family member in the same week. I had never been to massage envy, and was hopeful that this might alleviate some stress. I booked my appointment online for 12:45, and was due to arrive a little early. Right before I arrived I received a phone call from the receptionist who was rude and snarky, telling me that I was already late and that I should have been there at 12:30 and the text message (that I never received) told me so. When I arrived he mentioned again that I was late (even though I was actually early for the appointment that I had scheduled). I felt shamed and uncomfortable right of the bat. When my massage therapist brought me back to the room, he also reminded me that that I was very late, and that this was going to be a short massage. At that point I felt horrible and decided that I wanted to leave. When I walked to the front desk the two receptionists and my therapist were all talking about me. I told the women at the front desk that I wasn't feeling well and I would be happy to pay for my session anyways. She then went on to tell me that if I had an illness that I should have called that morning and told them, because "getting a massage would intensify the illness". I'm disturbed by the lack of professionalism, and the effort that they put forward to purposely make me feel discomfort. Scheduling took awhile since the phone was constantly engaged and I had to kept calling back until someone finally answered. They are short staffed on female therapists which I prefer so scheduling atleast a week out will be your best option. Staff was friendly and I was able to book an appointment for the next afternoon for a medium pressure massage. When I arrived the place was clean and I was welcomed and had to sign some forms and then was led into the "tranquility room" where they had a fireplace, some comfy sofas, water and hot tea while you waited for your masseuse to arrive.I was early for my 3:45pm appoint but my therapist didn't arrive until 3:50pm with no apology for being late. I was led to my room and given 10mins to change when it only takes me 2mins since I wear a t-shirt and leggings. The massage itself was alright could have been better. I agree with the other review that this place is more commercialized so they don't give you the personal care to actually work on the areas that you want. And then my massaged ended abruptly at 4:40pm so basically they cut out 20mins of the "real" massage time which is absurd since you're still paying the full price of $70 for an hour massage. I wouldn't return here again unless I was given another gift card or perhaps another location. *Plenty of parking in the lot outside. Mylea is a wonderful therapist. I went to her every time and although she is young, she really knows how to work out a knot and made me feel wonderful. The price was nothing special and nothing that my insurance would cover. I don't really see it as a deal for $60 a month/session.. Then there is the whole front desk staff. I went in one month a little later than usual and for some reason they thought I had already had my allotted massage for that month and so they charged me double. They said I could get a massage that day and then they would fix my account. Then after a few days it was still there so I went back in to talk with them (not get another massage). They were confused and gave me the number of their billing specialist and told me to call the next day. I did and it took about 10 minutes on the phone for her to finally get things figured out. So I had to go in twice and then call them to get this thing figured out. It was a real pain in the butt and although I expressed my disappointment, they didn't really care. After reading other reviews I was very skeptical about coming here. In fact the only reason I had done so was because I had a giftcard but from start to finish everyone has been polite, professional and even gave me a 24 hour reminder call. This was my very first time getting a massage and I was so pleased - granted I was late because I was at the wrong Bellevue location (my bad). Over the phone the rep said it would cut into my massage time which was supposed to be 60 minutes (I still got 40-45). I got Kim who ended up being amazing - perfect pressure and would constantly ask if she should go lighter/ harder. After the massage I ended up getting a membership because of how great my experience had been. I see others on here commenting about paying more than they should have or not seeing the same person and it's a lesser experience (my tip going forward) talk to them! They advocate communication and would rather waive fees/ work with you than have one of their members or new clients have a bad experience and never want to come back (I'm sure since I work a similar ish industry). "Out of sight, out of mind"! I've been a member of this location since June of last year. Due to my hectic schedule, I called in a couple of months ago and cancelled my membership. I was told that I have two more prepaid sessions that must be used by 12/31/16. I booked one of those sessions for today. When I arrived, I was asked to fill out some personal information. I asked why? This is not my first time. "We only have your facial information". I went ahead and obligated but only after I spent time explaining my closing request and I am a regular client. Finally, escorted to the quite room where I waited, waited, waited and waited. 15 minutes passed my scheduled time, I was finally told my massage therapist was in a car accident. I stood there waited for an offer to have someone else, or even perhaps another appointment at a later time. Nothing. So I asked then can I reschedule? In fact, could I gift the two prepaid sessions to my daughter? Yes. I could. Fingers on keyboard, then I was told I have no prepaid sessions and she wasn't sure so.....I went over for third time my closing request, two prepaid sessions left yadiya ya. I even stated I have documentation when and who I called. The response "I can have my manager contact you". Nothing else was offered. It is as if .... If you are an active client.... then we will be on it.... If you will be existing well then.... out of sight ... out of customer service. It was a good thing that my appointment didn't go through otherwise, I would have to pay the full price and not a member's price. As of right now, no follow up calls. No service is not great service at all. I have been going to this location for well over a year now. Usually to the same person, I could tell you who but she books up so fast I'd have to kill you so you don't take my spot. I have had massages from several of the therapists there but only if my regular therapist is on vacation. I only go to Eastgate for facials because my usual Massage Envy doesn't have this option. I see Larika and absolutely love her. She is gentle and talks to me throughout my session about what she is doing and what is happening to my face. I had thought about cancelling my membership because it was difficult to get in for massages with my usual therapist in Renton, but after finding Larika and enjoying her facials I may just keep my membership going. read more

So I just got off the phone from another collections call related to this place. It is a club and you have a contract to pay them every month. You have to let them know 30 days in advance that you want to cancel, even if your contract has expired, because it is self renewing. I, on the other hand, got in early and had a non-renewing contract. Unfortunately I didn't realize this. I had put my account on hold since I was broke. They called me the morning that my account became active again to tell me that because my debit card on file was had no money in the account, I was now late. And it would now incur a fee. How can it be late if it is 9am? So I tell her I want to cancel my account. I understand about the 30 days notice. I would have paid for a month of service even though I had now moved 3000 miles away with no Massage Envys anywhere near me. Turns out you can't cancel your account if it is not current. So in order to close my account, I would have had to pay the current month in advance- which was now "late" at 9am the day it was due, pay the late fee, and pay for an additional month, even tho I would never have a chance to use the service. I ended up closing my bank account so they couldn't take any more out before I realized that I don't even have an auto-renewing contract! They forwarded me to collections, and even though I mailed them a copy of the original contract which states they do not have the right to keep pulling money out of my account because it is not auto-renewing, I got another call from collections today. I had an appointment set up for two weeks for a 2:30pm massage. They waited until 11:15am the day of my massage to tell me they messed up and my therapist would not be there at the time of my appointment. They didn't offer any help rescheduling me. This Newcastle location is just a name now - it should be renamed Eastgate. Sometime in February or even January 2015, you picked up and left the Coal Creek location. Not a letter/postcard/phone call/email or word of warning, NOTHING from the management! WHY??? I signed up with you because of the location. I visited a different location since and I might find myself going there from now on. In regards to the therapists, the 2 that I've tried were highly disappointing. A deep tissue massage lasted less than 45' between the therapist being late and then wrapping up minutes early because she had to reset the room. No apology on this from her. This place is such a scam. We got duped into a year long membership. The front desk told us explicitly that it was a any time cancel deal...but nope, that wasn't true. Anyhow, we kept the membership for a year. There's only 1 therapist there I like, who was hard to book. Finally, they are making it incredibly hard for us to cancel the membership! We have massages there that we have prepaid for. The front desk keeps telling us that a manager needs to call us to finalize the paperwork before we can use them. THE MANAGER NEVER CALLS. This place is great. Super affordable. I followed my massage therapist from their last location in Newcastle to this one in Eastgate and honestly I think it's fantastic. They seem to have some new staff too who are super sweet and very personable. Always going to get a good massage? Check. Great staff? Check. No issues with scheduling? Check. Ambiance relaxing? Check. And honestly, if someone is going to have problems with scheduling sooner than later, it's probably because the therapist is that good and actually busy. Duh. ;) read more
