Her homecoming and final resting place was entrusted to Grace Funeral Home in the care of Vincent Brown, Vanassa Cooper and their staff. They provided an exceptional, memorable service. Fast forward to 2015. Due to my mother's decline in her health, I relocated her from her home in Miami, Fl to MD where I was to take care of her. My mom's only request was when she passed, I get her back to Miami and have Grace take care of her and get her to Vista Memorial Gardens where my sister was laid to rest. As I saw my mom decline, all I could think about was how I was going to get her back to Miami in the event she passed away unexpectedly. Although I kept it in the back of my mind, it wasn't a priority as her health and quality of life was at the forefront. Over the last three years, her health declined demanding round the clock care. At some point, I knew I had to keep my promise to my mom to get her back to Miami in the event of her passing. I reached out to Mr. Brown, he assured me that everything would be okay, he would take me through the process, "it'll be okay!" We started the process of getting the paperwork done. Unfortunately, within a matter of a few weeks, my mom rapidly declined. On October 1, 2023, my mother passed away peacefully at home in NC. I immediately contacted Mr. Brown. From the moment I reached out to Mr Brown, he kept his word and made the process seem seamless. Since he took care of everything in the background, I was able to focus on getting to Miami and grieve without having to worry about her arrangements. At some point, I started working with Ms Cooper to provide her with what was needed for my mom, clothing, etc..... She is one of the most kind, loving and personable people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She made me feel like she was part of the family and wanted nothing but the best for mom. She will forever be my sister-friend! Upon my arrival to the funeral home for the service, I was greeted by Kevin and Bill. Kevin guided me to my mom to view her for approval prior to family and guest arriving. Not only did they capture mom's natural beauty but they laid her to rest so beautifully, she looked like she was sleeping not overly made up. She just looked like herself. As the service was coming to an end, suddenly an angelic, amazing, beautiful sound came out of nowhere and my God, let me tell you, as I lifted my head up and saw that Bill was kind enough to bless us with a song, it felt like the heavy feeling in the room was lightened. I had to keep myself from begging him to keep singing. While I knew I'd done the right thing by getting mom home and entrusting Grace, at that very moment, it solidified that mom, me and my family were right where we were supposed to be. As we left the funeral home to head to the cemetery, I had the pleasure of having a moment with Kevin. His words of comfort, warmth and genuine demeanor gave me the peace of mind not even my family could've given me. I could go on and on about the exceptional service and experience they provided but I'd be at a loss for words. From the owner to whoever maintains the facility and its grounds, that had anything to do with getting my mom to her final resting place, I am eternally grateful and appreciate them handling her with dignity, respect, compassion and GRACE! At no point did I feel like I was dealing with a business rather than a family that was there during my most difficult time of need. I wish I could give them more stars but there would never be enough to truly capture the quality of the service they provide. I am grateful and humble to have worked with them! I have mixed feelings about this business. I'll walk you through my experience. My brother…read moreunfortunately passed out of state and I immediately started the process of making his arrangements. I initially started working with a different funeral home and unfortunately due to how sudden and unexpected the passing of my brother was we were simply unprepared financially for this situation. There were a lot of blurred lines surrounding his death and well when you're in a vulnerable position and you put your trust into a business that's supposed to alleviate your stress when you're already grieving you expect a different level of care and professionalism. I found Graceland through Catholic Charities, and although Felipe was at first very kind and seemed like he genuinely cared there were a lot of things that just didn't sit right with me. For example my brothers body had to be shipped from out of state, that in itself took about two weeks. My brother passed away in May and we did not receive the body until June 27th and the viewing took place on the 28th. We were denied access to viewing the body despite repeated requests, although a funeral director can make the suggestion I believe it's up to the family to make the final determination. We never had the opportunity to identify the body and when I requested pictures, identifying information such as tattoos, or finger prints etc I was denied every single suggestion that I had in order to receive the closure that was needed. There was a constant back and forth with National Mortuary which is the company that ships, the funeral home in the state in which he passed said they preformed the embalming and the then I was told by the shipping company that THEY had preformed the embalming. The office staff seemed to laugh at me every chance they had, in particular Samuel. My brother was cremated on the 29th and unfortunately I couldn't attend the cremation which I truly believe was their end game. Although they were very gracious in understanding our financial situation and did give us a discount I don't believe that entitled them to behave in certain ways. I for one felt extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the whole thing. I repeatedly went to pick up my brothers ashes and they apparently have a policy where you can only pick up from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM despite Felipe being there. When I initially went to pick up his remains the staff told my husband that we still owed money which of course wasn't true we paid cash the moment we signed the contract and so apparently that was an accounting oversight. I have never felt so humiliated, embarrassed, and ashamed. This was terrible what was done to us and I hope it doesn't happen to any other family out there during the most difficult time in their lives. While we appreciate the discount we would've appreciated empathy a lot more. Felipe is extremely professional in his communications and the way he accommodates families but I just felt extremely frustrated and lost throughout the process.

I searched several companies before choosing this one to assist with my father's burial service…read more The location was good being that it is across the street from a restaurant. Everything went fine up until cremation. My husband and I arrived around 7:45 AM to ID the body. My mother chose a photo urn from the company. I told Tony that morning that I purchased something to hold some ashes also, and I wanted them to put a small amount aside for me. I told him to write it down so it would be done. He said he would tell the person doing the cremation. Today I was told his name is Lazaro. This past Saturday my mother went to pick up the ashes and she was only given the photo urn. My request for ashes for my necklace was not completed. I am deeply saddened by this issue because I thought I was going to have a piece of him to keep with me forever. My dad died in a span of five days. So far the only solution offered was bringing my mom's urn back. They mentioned it wasn't written in the contract. I bought the necklace after I decided to use the company. Also whether I bought the necklace before or after is irrelevant as the cremation had not taken place yet. I even inquired about a necklace purchase from Maspons. Maybe my request was not completed because I didn't buy it from them. Again, I asked Tony to notate it at 7:45 AM. How is the family supposed to move forward by making me come back to the funeral home and dealing with an past hurdle? I am a teacher and finally decided to come back to work because I thought I was past the next difficult thing and could remain composed for my students. Apparently not, because although my father died on October 11th, still is still no peace, not even for him. This is unacceptable.

The police suggested I call this place which I did. The first person Diane, who answered the phone was initially nice but then it became the worst nightmare! They issued a death certificate for the 20th instead of the 21st. When I called back they were RUDE and wanted me to pay for the mistake. Then they sent an email to someone else instead of me to pick the urn for my mother and laughingly said she would understand. I couldn't believe the INCOMPETENCE and INSENSITIVITY of all the staff. Terrible service and attitude. When I asked for an apology, nothing was done! To this day I have never heard from them! Unfortunately my mothers estate paid the bill which was way overpriced. Such incredibly Insensitive funeral directors should have their licenses pulled, if they have any. If your Loved one dies, Go to another funeral home NOT THIS ONE!!!! A Very Unhappy Customer
