A close friend of ours passed and the nursing home offered us the number to this funeral. the person that answered was named Ruben and he was very belligerent. He kept going on about how he was part owner. Given our circumstances he was really disrespectful repeating the same things over and over. he showed no compassion for our situation and refused to offer their services. a truly rude person to someone having just suffered a loss. We used Allen and Shaw for my Dads cremation and they offered the ashes to be taken to sea ,and that is what we did for an additional fee.My mother has died and we are using the same company and sea service ,hopefully their ashes will drift back to the south current and go back to their country. Allen and Shaw is a professional company and very nice people working for them ,all my paper work was done rapidly and easily. I would like to begin by saying that Isaac is a wonderful man. However, I must express my concern regarding a discrepancy in information provided by Jen, with whom I had several phone conversations prior to collecting our father. At no point during these discussions did Jen mention that only two individuals would be permitted to enter the office to pick him up. Consequently, when we arrived with our mother, she was unexpectedly required to wait in the car. Furthermore, upon opening the door, Jen informed us of a mandatory mask requirement and stated that she could only provide one mask. This information was also omitted during our previous conversations. I found her lack of empathy, particularly towards those who are grieving, to be quite disheartening. I think she is in the wrong line of work, she may be better working at a call center where she doesn't interact with grieving family members. read more

My father passed away several years ago and we used Allen & Shaw for his cremation. With so much on my mind at that time, I didn't think to do a review back then, but after finding this page saved on my computer, I remembered my experience and thought that I would write one now. In short, they were great. The woman I dealt with was kind, understanding and professional. After I called them, they took care of everything and made the the whole process easy. I remember the cost being very reasonable and the cremation was finished in a timely manner. Also, they had a friendly black cat in the office and since I am a cat lover, it provided comfort in what was a very difficult time in my life. As I said, this was a few years ago, so I don't know if the cat is still there, but everything else in my review stands. Great place, great people. Highly recommend. read more

Okay. Writing a review for a cremation service is...well, unexpected for me, but after the outstanding experience with Allen & Shaw, I had to write one. Allen & Shaw provides very affordable cremation services. While funeral homes in Miami were quoting $1400-$1500 for a direct cremation with no extra services, Allen & Shaw cost $495' including pickup. What was the difference? $1000! My mother had demanded that no extravagant expenses should be made in dealing with her remains. Thankfully, Allen & Shaw provided us an alternative to the high markup big-money industry that funeral services has become. We called Allen & Shaw once my mother had passed (she had been in the care of home hospice), they arrived to pick up her remains within two hours (we were 45 minutes away at least). They arrived and very respectfully took her remains away. "Respectful" is a word that is constantly in place with Allen & Shaw. They know they cater to a low cost market for their services, and while their facilities are no- frills, and in the commercial/ industrial district of Opa-Locka, they seem to do their best to deal with their customers professionally and treat the remains of their loved one's respectfully. We opted for paying an additional $100 for expedited handling of the paperwork with the State and the hospice doctors, so the cremation could be done without much delay (a couple days, in our case), an option the funeral homes claimed was impossible to deliver. Allen & Shaw is a family owned and operated business. Patty, who, I think runs the office, was absolutely fantastic and efficient. You couldn't ask for better service and professionalism. One caveat though, if you choose to pick up the cremains of your loved one in person, remember that their facility is not fancy and is primarily designed to do the business end of dealing with cremation. The cremains will normally come in a plastic, decent looking container, but if you purchase an urn you can take it there and they will transfer the cremains to your container for you (which we did). (We had purchased a nice urn at Perfectmemorials.com, a good recommendation by Allen & Shaw. Bottom line: why spend more, when professional, respectful (and possibly more efficient) service is available for less from a family run business? Big recommend. read more
