Will be doing my 3rd funeral here. It's a good price and it's straight and to the point.

I stopped by Caballero Rivero Southern because of an unusual section of the cemetery. Standing…read moreguard over the carnival workers of the Miami Showmen's Association Rest at Southern Memorial Park is the life sized statues of an elephant and two lions imported from Italy. A motto on the elephant's blanket reads "Show folks. May they always be right, but right or wrong, Show folks." This is the final resting place of many of south Florida's carnival workers who follow the fair from place to place. In life they drove the trucks, guessed peoples weight, operated the rides, and manned the concessions. These nomads are now together in one place for final rest. People interred here include David Endy, the first president of the Miami Showmen's Association. He died in 1982 after more than 50 years of living the carnival life. There are 1,000 graves in all divided by peoples faith, Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant. Many of the markers contain peoples nicknames. "Peanuts", "Lively", "Porky", and "Duke". The first Showmen's Association of circus and carnival workers was founded in Chicago in 1913 as the Showmen's League of America. They organized to fight for insurance and health benefits for workers. The tradition of associations selling burial plots started after a deadly train wreck in 1918 killed more than 100 people from the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. The Miami Showmen's Association was formed in 1944 by Endy as a social and benevolent organization. There are three showmen's groups in Florida, but this one is oldest. Through the years it's membership has dwindled. In the 1950's cemetery plots were sold to members for $50 to make sure that no one was buried in a potter's field. The elephant can be seen from just about everywhere in the cemetery. I love the story of this place and how everyone took care of each other. Carnival workers stick together and support each other. It is definitely an of the beaten track stop if you are in the area.

Caballero Rivero Cemeteries & Funeral Homes. - North Miami…read more My husband and I had been avoiding the topic of pre- planning our funerals but we finally decided it's too important to put on the back burner. From the first exchange of emails between me and Pre-Plan Advisors , Joe Jimenez and Marta Gonzalez, I noticed there was no pressure to follow through with them. The plans available were presented. We chose cremation and had many questions (especially me). Patiently, Joe or Marta would promptly get back to me with an answer. They both acknowledged that it was a difficult decision for us. When I was apprehensive about certain points they tried to clarify as clearly as possible. I felt they took a personal interest in our decision and I truly appreciated their patience and empathy. We chose Caballero Rivero and have not regretted our decision I would recommend - Caballero Rivero and Pre- Plan Advisors Joe Jimenez and Marta Gonzalez

I was told it would be completed in three months and it took GIGI 5 months just to send me a printed sketch which had my mothers name spelled wrong. Which I corrected over 3 times, clearly nobody can read at this place. She told me this pathetic paper would be sent to me two weeks after my payment...5 MONTHS FOR SOMETHING DONE INCORRECT and the stone wasn't even started, I had to approve this paper first. I have called and texted her non stop. I have no problem taking them to court for breach of contract and fraud since a 3 month job has taken almost a year and I still haven't received a response on an ETA for this stone. I will trash this name until I get answers for my mother to rest. If your family member passed and you and your grieving family want a smooth process stay as FAR AWAY FROM HERE AS POSSIBLE.

We opted to be present for his trip out to sea and New Choice offers a very affordable option for sea scattering the cremains in a safe, comfortable setting. The boat was clean, crew was knowledgeable and everything ran on time. Capt. Dawn also had a backup plan if the weather didn't cooperate. They helped us put together a makeshift "altar," and she advised us ahead of time to bring flowers/rose petals... we couldn't have asked for anything more. As we pushed through one of the toughest moments of our lives, it was so important that we worked with experienced professionals, and New Choice Burials was amazing with this and made the process as seamless as possible. They exceeded our expectations and truly made it a beautiful day, despite the heaviness of the occasion. Thank you to Capt. Dawn for guiding us in our devastation and sorrow. It's sad to say as my mother was brought to this funeral home, her final wishes was not honored. I…read moreunderstand that Helena, thought she was honoring the wishes of my mother saying that she was going to have a meeting with the entire family, which she failed to do so by not including me in the decisions for my mother. I told her the funeral colors are pink, white and gold, and she said the casket flowers would be just that and it wasn't. Which is a lie to me. It is such a GREAT disappointment when having conversations with her saying that she honoring the wishes of the family and asking me questions about certain things, for a week, and still choose to do something completely different from a aunt who have already burried her mother and a younger sister who doesn't have any money. She is not event the oldest sibling. This was our opportunity to bury our mother and honor her wishes in the best way we can and I feel like I was robbed of trying to do so. I understand that she may be a busy woman, but the importance of putting a service together is to have that conversation with all parties of the family involved to come to a final decision. The result of that, my name is incorrect in the Obituary, my mother did not have a husband and a husband is listed. The hair my mother was styled in was dry and flaky, the press on nails were done but her hands still was ashy. She was supposed to be in a white dress, but she was in a COPPER/GOLD dress...ugh...And a few other things. This Obituary is the last piece of paper that friends and family have to remember my mothers life and the information is incorrect. I'll be forever scared by the horrors of how things was handled with our mom. I pray that this can be a lesson for her with future families to do better!

What an embarrassment that my uncle's burial paperwork was not completed nor paid to the cemetery. We had the church service nearby, hundreds made a procession through the rain to the cemetery, and to be turned back around because they didn't have a plot nor tomb ready for us. The cemetery didn't get paid by the funeral home and they wanted their money. We took everyone back to their office and had a VERY unprofessional conversation with the manager and owner(s). They expected us to pay again because someone in their office didn't document payment properly and didn't reserve a spot for my uncles body. Shouldn't someone have called or at least tell us at the church? It was pouring down rain and we had my parents along with many other elderly family members dangerously wading through water in their parking lot. Some had been sitting for hours and needed to use the restrooms and I ordered refreshments to hold us over (additional unexpected expenses). My father was the last living sibling of my uncle and all we wanted was to give my uncle a good farewell. Hours later we were able to get things worked out but it was not a pretty scene. I've complained with the BBB and governing bodies, however, people need to know what kind of business practices they're up against. There are many other classy and decent funeral homes in the area such St. Forts Funeral Home.
