Real down home cooking and service. Nothing fancy in a comfortable environment and friendly folks. Little more pricey than Jacksonville but worth it.

Great little diner!!! All the staff were amazing. The food was amazing and came out fast!! Would totally stop in again if I'm in the area again. Chicken fried steak was thick and very tender. Biscuit was very fluffy and delicious. Eggs were a perfect over medium, and home fries with skins on had a nice crisp to a side.

Breakfast

We haven't been to Masons for a long while and decided to go for breakfast. I was very surprised at the prices for the items in the menu. We ordered the least expensive items we could find, along with coffee. My breakfast biscuit was tasty and the 2 pancakes were generous in size but the total bill came to $22...and the $2.75 for a cup of coffee was a shock. I have always liked Masons but as seniors, we have to watch our pennies.

Breakfast was amazing! Good sized portions, we went for breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's a hidden gem, a small town "greasy spoon" type of place. Nothing fancy but everything is good!

Well executed home cooking. Go to spot when family is in town. If you're craving a country style meal then this is your spot.

Blackwater Bistro - Fillet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes

Blackwater Bistro

(454 reviews)

$$

We were visiting some friends in Milton and wanted to get a bite for lunch before heading out…read more They suggested Blackwater Bistro. The place is really quaint with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu includes a great variety of different items. The soup of the day was a green chili chicken stew that sounded too good to pass on, so I ordered that along with a side of Gouda grits and a side of sautéed green beans. The grits were delicious! The green beans were very good; and the soup was good. My wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with sweet potato criss-cut fries. The fries were bomb! The sandwich was okay, she was trying to figure out what was missing. On the way home she realized it was missing cheese. A cheesesteak without cheese?!?! Service was very good. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. This bistro is not cheap by any stretch, but it is good and I'm sure we'll return.

Growing up in Pea Ridge, I've heard of the illustrious Blackwater Bistro my whole childhood. This…read morewas the fancy place in town to go to if you had a hot date, or for before you go to prom. I never made it out, though, until I moved away, got a job, and then came back to visit recently. I went out to explore downtown Milton some, checked out Blackwater State Park, and got hungry and decided to finally come check this place out for lunch. So we drove up, got a table, and started browsing the pamphlet they gave us of the history of the building. It was a quaint little read. The restaurant is in an old house that had many different lives over the course of its existence. It was wooden, comfortable, had a nice bar built into it. Very cozy and rustically upscale. The service was also very good. A nice lady that tended to all of our drink needs. Very pleasant. And the food came out in a timely fashion. As for the food, we started with the The Sampler (A mixture of our house favorites: Artichoke cheesecake, Baguette, Loaded Brussel Sprouts with Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Chutney). This was nice. I love a good savory cheesecake, you don't see that very often. It was very interesting loading the sprouts with shrimp, but I've never said no to a shrimp. And the coconut shrimp were pretty standard. It was a good plate, but not mind-blowing, if you wanna try a different app. My main was the Creole Crawfish & Andouille Pot Pie (Louisiana Crawfish, Savory Vegetables, Andouille, Cajun Cheese Cream, Puff Pastry). This is a loose-leaf pot pie. So basically a gumbo with a puffy piece of puff pastry on top. So it's a lot of fun, but don't expect a lot of crust with each bite. Super creamy, super Cajun in the seasoning, no regrets getting this. I also got to try the The Blue Salad (Filet of Beef. Signature Assorted Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Cucumber, Bleu Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese Dressing). This was a good salad! Nice and tender strips of filet, funky bleu cheese, sweet and crunchy pecans. I love a nice interesting salad like this. Nothing boring involved. And a ton of that delicious dressing. Overall, the Bistro was well worth the wait. Good vibes, good food. I'd come back.

Ace's Hanger catered two private parties at our home in the past two weeks and both were perfect!…read more The prices were reasonable and the quantity and quality was spot on! The service and attention to detail pleased all of our guests and owner, Scott, delivered and prepared everything perfectly. First party was a younger crowd and they enjoyed the Taco Bar, the lasagna and charcuterie. Second party was for our retired or mostly retired friends and we loved the Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp cocktail, more lasagna, and Spinach and artichoke dip! It was nice not to have to worry about cooking and I was able to relax and enjoy the party rather than being tied to the kitchen! Scott was great working with my dietary restriction too. He even made me a separate batch of Oysters that were yummy and keto! Plenty of leftovers and everyone was happy to take them home.

We were just about the only family in there and our service reflected that. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and was able to answer all our questions about the menu. Our food was delicious, and I especially enjoyed my fried shrimp and grilled shrimp. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well, although the coleslaw was a little bland. The decor was neat, with lots of airplane and flying memorabilia. I would definitely say check them out if you're looking for a good meal with a decent price prices and friendly service!

Andy D's was the venue for the performance and provided the food that was included with the ticket. The service was fantastic. Friendly staff working hard with the timing of the play. The food was ok. We had a set menu to choose from. The bang bang shrimp and buffalo chicken dip with spicy crackers were really good. The grouper nuggets were ok, a bit chewy. The chicken Alfredo was also ok. The sauce wasn't very flavorful and the chicken a bit chewy as well. The garlic knots had a strange after taste. The pulled pork sandwich didn't have any bbq sauce on it. The onion rings were excellent. Dessert was a chocolate cake cup that was yummy! I have to say I have never had a worse margarita in my life. It was loaded with tequila, which is awesome, but it had sour mix and some strange lime syrup in it. It almost tasted like something you'd put on a snow cone. It was terrible. Also, the acoustics in this place are horrible. Sound carries so bad, it is very difficult to hear anyone even right next to you. I would say this is much more of a party spot than a good place to take the family out to eat. I would come back for that type of vibe and not order a margarita :)

I had viewed the menu online ahead of time and noticed they have great lunch specials. I had decided I would try the buffalo chicken wrap with a ceasar salad. This was on the menu as a half sandwich and soup or salad for $9.99. We got off on the wrong foot, since the waitress gave me the dinner menu as I was being seated. When I asked about the lunch specials I had seen online, she disappeared for a minute and then came back saying something about the other people like to hide the lunch menus from her and handed me a lunch menu. I'm thinking that was pretty disingenuous since if you are a server you know when lunch hours are, and she was fishing for a larger tip by getting me to order from the more expensive dinner menu. I will say the caesar salad was huge, quite a bit larger than I was expecting, and the salad was crisp, the dressing was well mixed in, and it had a nice amount os shaved parmesan cheese. The croutons unfortunately were stale and chewy, but otherwise a very nice salad as part of a lunch sandwich special. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap blackened, and the other options were fried or grilled. Honestly, I could not detect any blackening. I will say the wrap was quite good with a nice hot sauce and a fair amount of chicken and other ingredients. When the bill came I noticed they had charged me an additional $2 for the caesar salad. There was no mention of any additional charge when I placed the order, so again I felt like the waitress was being nice to my face, but playing tricks on my bill. They also have an up-charge if you use a credit card, but I paid in cash. Overall, just an OK experience. I think as an evening hangout there is a lot of potential, but nothing on the menu would bring me back.
