This is a small cafe with lots of "small town vibes" I liked how cute the decor was and all the different pies they have for sale by slice. We went for breakfast. The food itself was ok. Not bad but nothing unique or notable. I didn't like the sausage patties though. They were too salty for my taste. It did take a bit for our food to come out and they didn't come out all at once so it was kind of uncomfortable to eat while others at our table are hungry and their food hasn't come out yet. This is a little locals place. We decided to try it out. Every table filled. This is one of those places that everyone seems to know each other and if they don't know you the service is not the same. Food was just ok. Nothing to brag about. 3 of us for $50 lunch for being a casual place. Nothing fancy. They have been there for awhile and they close early. All 3 of us agreed we would not go back. A piece of peanut butter pie $5.75 and it was a small piece with a couple of squirts of whipped cream if you even want to say a couple. We got it to go for my Dad and I was shocked they could charge that much. They stop serving breakfast and do just a lunch menu even though they close early, we probably would have enjoyed the breakfast more maybe. Definitely not a fan of this place. I live out of town but I come through Milton, FL regularly. I have a friend that lives in Milton that swears by this little hole in the wall restaurant (Masons) that I've seen the sign too for years but didn't know it was even a restaurant. After hearing how epic their Hamburger Steak was I stopped in on my way through, very excited to get one to-go. I went in and ordered a Hamburger Steak Dinner To-Go but was told I couldn't order that to go but I could order it and eat it there.. I was a little confused to say the least and it appeared to be the only thing I couldn't order to-go.. Extremely disappointed and running short on time I just ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and fries to-go. They got my order out fairly fast but then I found out that they don't put any condiments on the burger so after getting out to my vehicle I've gotta kill more time having to prep my burger.. Again I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED that I couldn't get the ONE THING I went in there to get. With that rant out of the way it's only fair to tell you how great the Burger was and I imagine from what I saw I'm willing to bet everything there is great. The bacon they used on my burger was top shelf bacon and freshly cooked. I would recommend everyone to try this place but maybe not so much if you want your order to go. My husband and I decided to dine at Mason's, as we have many times before. We asked about the military discount and were told that it's only offered when in uniform. This was surprising because every time we've dined there previously, we've always received the discount, so we wondered if the policy had changed. Upon checkout, we asked again to confirm if the policy had changed, as we've always been given the discount in the past. The cashier, who has personally applied the discount for us before, looked us in the face and said they have never done that. We both knew this wasn't true. I would have completely understood if the policy had changed, but being told that something that has consistently happened "never" happened felt dismissive and disrespectful. As a military family, we've always appreciated businesses that honor service members -- not just through discounts, but through honesty and integrity. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling disheartened and discriminated against. As an African American couple, the way the situation was handled made us feel slighted and unwelcome. Mason's has been our favorite breakfast spot for a while, but after today, we've decided to find another place to dine. I hope management will review this situation and clarify the policy to ensure that all guests are treated with fairness, consistency, and respect. read more

Haven't written a review in awhile but felt that need to talk about my family's experience yesterday for lunch. First of all, when you walk in, it would be nice if the waitresses did a warm greeting by saying "Hello, have a seat anywhere you like" which takes about 5 seconds. None of them did that. How about teach your waitresses common courtesy in your training? We found an empty table to sit in and received menus 5 minutes later. This place is filled with retired old time folks. The middle aged non-degree holding waitresses rely on them for their bread and butter -- you get my drift. Proceeded to order our food and then noticed a table of old timers getting their food before us after coming in after us. Ok fine, maybe they ordered something that was easy to make. So after awhile, we are looking around and wondering what the issue is. Then two other tables that came in AFTER us received their plates of food, we are talking 40 minutes in at this point. I had to flag down another waitress to check on our food and it finally came. Food was blah and my daughter's tomato basil tasted like it came out of a can of Chef Boyardee. There was never an explanation as to why the food took so long. If she informed us the reasoning on why, we would have been understanding and let it go. It's such a shame. I really wanted to like this place. It was obvious by the waitress's attitude she rolled out the red carpet for locals and didn't care for any "out-of-towners" coming into this restaurant. (We live in this area) A patron came in with a young child and the waitresses proceeding to ask about his snow day, but she didn't say a word to my daughter. Seems real bias to me. By all means, if you're over 65, white and crippled, this really is the place for you. They will roll out the red carpet, give you a discount and make SURE you get your food in less than 20 minutes. The rest of the peons that come in will get 40 minute waits and unfriendly glares. Choose wisely and don't say you haven't been warned. This place is officially exiled off our list permanently. read more

Had breakfast at Mason's this morning. Busy little place that we enjoyed very much. I got to try tomato gravy, which I have been wanting to try for years. It was great. My husband had biscuits with sausage and gravy. It was a nice serving and excellent. But the bacon topped cast iron cinnamon bun was the best thing we have had in long time. It's the type of food you think about and want again. Service was good and everyone was friendly and quick. We are so glad we finally made it there and are hoping to go back to try some more delicious, made from scratch meals. read more

Very local, great staff, kitschy decor. When staff wasn't busy with guests-they were cleaning. Great senior citizen hotspot! Grandpa loved it. I found the food fair, however, I was under the impression they had Weinie Winks. I was looking forward to that juicy dog triangulated with melty cheese and golden brown toast with the toothpicks to bring it all together. We ordered the least expensive items we could find, along with coffee. My breakfast biscuit was tasty and the 2 pancakes were generous in size but the total bill came to $22...and the $2.75 for a cup of coffee was a shock. New place to eat in Milton, so I figured that I'd stop in and see what's going on. You could drive right by this place on the bypass and easily miss it. I drove right in front of it and knew it was somewhere in the strip, but I wasn't sure until I parked and walked up. They have breakfast, hamburgers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. I got a cheeseburger (with American cheese, but provolone and "cheddar blend" are also available. Hold the lettuce and onions. Appeared to be and had the texture of a hand-made patty, maybe 1/3 pound. Nice bun that was lightly toasted. I think it was $5.95, plus $1 for a side of fries instead of chips. That $1 buys a goodly portion of fries. I also got a fried bologna sandwich. For $2.50. It was two pieces of toast with a single thick-ish (thicker than a regular slice, but might have been as thick as Oscar Meyer thick-sliced...might)slice of bologna, and that solitary slice was lightly fried. I wouldn't get that again. I was expected something like a grilled cheese, except with fried bologna instead of cheese. But, hey, it was $2.50. Maybe I just have unreasonable expectations. Sandwiches come with wide-ruffled potato chips by default, and you also get a nice dill pickle spear. Very clean place, incredibly nice and cheerful staff. I didn't check out the loo, because my hands were clean enough, but they have to be immaculate, like the dining room itself. I would definitely recommend Masons (no apostrophe) as a place to get your grub on. I'll go back and, if the other sandwiches are as good as the burger, I'll kick my score up to five stars. I had the B&G Special with both bacon and sausage. My sister had the Philly. It's Halloween, so our server was dressed as the wicked witch. The service was wickedly sour. The gentleman dressed as a farmer/mechanic/scarecrow nicely helped us with a drink refill and our takeaway box because our wicked witch server neglected us 95% of our time there (which actually resulted in us staying way longer than I would have preferred). My sister's Philly looked delicious while my own food was good but salty. The sausage was dry. The bacon arrived about 15 minutes after my plate of everything else did. When we finally made it to the register, I wanted to pay $20 cash and my sister wanted to pay the rest on her card. This made the wicked witch visibly frustrated due to having to recalculate the taxes apparently? I've never been slapped with that kind of issue at any type of checkout before and I've traveled the world. I like to explore new places and support family-owned businesses; however, this was a waste of $26.25. read more
