Everything we tried was very flavorful, made so well, and the presentation was beautiful with edible flower and glitter a top all the dishes we ordered. She was looking for advice from me, but I was very happy when the owner came by and said he could select our food and we trusted him.He asked us a few questions about spice level, proteins, etc. He said he would bring us an appetizer, a chicken entree and a vegetable entree. He also brought us 2 hot chai drinks. We agreed it was the best chai we've ever had....it was mildly sweet and the spices were perfect. We were brought as an appetizer...fried cauliflower with a Manchurian sauce which was sweet, mildly spicy and a touch sour..... perfect. We got 4 beautiful veggie balls..... finely minced veggies with paneer in a very creamy sauce. The taste was a little sweet and when eaten on the super hot and fresh naan it was delicious. Our last dish was chicken kebabs, I believe made in the tandoori oven with spices and served with a beautiful sweet, creamy tomato sauce. We didn't ask for dessert but we're brought a complementary rice pudding to share... heavenly! We were checked on several times and water glasses were kept filled. We are both big water drinkers. I was so impressed with both service and food. If I could rate it more than 5 stars, I would do it!!

So, they called me and instead of stopping on my way home, I wasted some time until the food was ready. As for the food, it was very good. I ordered the lamb saag which came with rice. Dining In-Person: 5 Stars Take-Out: 3 stars (0 for service,…read more5 for food) The food is really good, and if you're a regular they are always welcoming and remember you. It's been awhile since we've sat in the restaurant but whenever we do it's always a great experience. Take-out is a different story. When we've ordered on GrubHub we never get a notification stating the food is ready so we just go a little after the specified time it's expected to be ready. I don't know how orders come in from GrubHub but it seems like they don't always see them. There have been numerous times when the food isn't ready and based on the extensive time we have to wait to get the food it it's clear they hadn't even seen the order come in. This certainly isn't every time but it's happened multiple times. Recently we tried using GrubHub and but were having issues with spotty wifi so we called it in instead. They said we could pay when we arrived. I was quite shocked that the order which totaled $40 on Grubhub rang up as $53 in person (see receipts attached). I stated my surprise but their response was to try DoorDash instead next time. If you compare the receipts each main dish rang up about $2 more expensive in person than it did on Grubhub and each appetizer or dessert was $3 more. The quantity of food we received was no different than when we order via Grubhub and when called out for this I would have expected a better response. So if you're interested in picking up take out, NEVER order direct. But if you order through a third party always call to check the food is ready before picking it up so you don't waste your time waiting.

The food took about 15 to 20 minutes and was hot, fresh and flavorful with requests to us on our spice level which I went spicy and didnt regret it (but my body might have) lol. The Biryani portion for $17 was definetly enough for 2 meals and I felt full from about half of it thought that might have been the capsacin. The garlic chili Nana was very interesting because in one bite it cut the heat from my biryani but then hit me with chili and the spice came back. About $50 for 2 people w/ 2 entrees, naan, and water. A little pricier than what you might want for just 2 people but the food's taste and size make up for it. Would definetly go back.

So much Indian food outside major metropolitan centers in the US is either terribly underflavored, in a sad attempt to level down to provincial palates, or by contrast overspiced, in the equally ridiculous assumption that you convey authenticity via sheer capsicum, that one approaches a place like this warily. And yet what you have here is delicately-calibrated sauces, food in which you can actually taste individual seasonings and savor their interactions, the way it's supposed to be! Samosas are fresh, crunchy crispy crust rather than the doughy glop for which we so frequently settle, and rice is perfectly fluffy. Lunch servings are just the right size - not the gargantuan american portions that let you know how dubious is the quality of the meat (margins can only be maintained on those stupid portion sizes by sacrificing quality). I won't say this place would get 5 stars in London or Chicago but it's well worth your time if you're in Cooperstown instead.

When my order came, it only had the paneer. The receipt on the bag had only the paneer on it, so I'm assuming it was on the restaurant's end. I can understand if they were out of that item, but they made no attempt to contact me and let me know and ask if I wanted to substitute something else. I later called the delivery service and they refunded me, no hassle, but still, this was a major bummer. By the time my food came, I was headed into a meeting and it was too late to order something else-- plus, I wasn't about to pay double delivery fees. I was really looking forward to this meal so it was a bummer that it wasn't what I was expecting, and there seemed to be no attempt at contact. The paneer was ok, but the flavor was a bit on the sour side and I wouldn't call it the best Indian food I've ever had. I'd be willing to give this spot a second try eventually but I'm not running back here after a bit of a letdown.

If you live near Syracuse University or work in the area near Upstate University Hospital, the VA…read moreor Crouse Hospital then you must be familiar with the Royal Indian Grill on 147 Marshall Street. Most notably, they serve a lunch buffet during the week that costs less than $13 and is bar none the best value for your money. I often partake in the take-out buffet during the weekdays and can't deny that its the best option for when I am really hungry and want a satisfying meal. The staff are associated with other well known Indian restaurants in the area (The Clay Oven and the Dosa Grill to name a couple) as denoted by their various polo shirts with the named establishments screen printed on the chest. On various days, I have experienced questionable attitudes from the wait staff but, most of time, I don't dine-in so my experience in this regard is not very reliable. But, be forewarned that some previous reviews have criticized the customer service of the staff and called it into question on more than a few occasions. The buffet has a wide variety of options available and they try to mix up the entrees beyond the usual Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry and Tandoori Chicken. On Fridays, they sometimes serve Fish Masala which is a personal favorite of mine. There are also a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan options as well beyond the salad bar. In fact, if you ever consider converting to a vegetarian diet, Indian cuisine is the way to go. The variety of options consisting of chick peas, cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes, eggplant, okra, lentils and cheese are so expertly prepared with herbs and spices that make any traditional Indian dishes absolutely delicious. If you are new to Indian cuisine you can feel confident in the knowledge that the spice levels are very mild (unless you specifically request a certain level of spiciness). Overall, its a great and affordable experience for any foodie who enjoys fragrant cuisine highlighted by herbs and spices that aren't overbearing. The buffet is all-you-can-eat and the to-go option is very filling. This is my go-to option for anytime I am famished and just want something delicious that always leaves me satisfied. You owe it to yourself to try this out. And the price point will never disappoint. What have you got to lose?
