Look at all the one stars and take heed! Wish I had. My family made a West to East coast move in Oct, 2023 with M.A.S. Let me summarize by saying the move itself went pretty well. There were hiccups and changes in what we were told from time to time but overall no serious damages. I would have given a 3 or 4 star rating had at the very end the owner not added on an $850 charge "just because". He stated it was a "fuel surcharge", but I reviewed federal data during the 3 months prior to our move and diesel fuel dropped by over a gallon in that period. What really happened was his employees damaged the tailgate of his trailer and he was looking for someone to pay for it. I normally would not have, but given the trail of little lies he gave us over the course of the move (we lost all trust in him) and his arrogance, I just wanted him out of our hair. I was also concerned he would hold our possessions hostage until I paid. He's arrogant, hardened and cheap enough to do that. Looking back I wish I had gotten a couple of quotes from nationally known movers to compare. I was looking to save a few dollars and thought this would be a better overall approach. Given what the move ended up costing I believe I could have located a high quality mover for about the same price and not have to spend time now trying to chase down a refund with the USDOT/FMCSA, California BBB and CA PUC - all of which I have filed complaints with. FMCSA and CA BBB are now investigating. I hope to hear from the CA PUC in the near future. read more

Luis and team at MAS moving have moved me twice. Once they moved our 50,000 square foot office and once they moved our 1,200 sq ft home. Each time their crew showed up on time, finished on time, communicated well. Consistently their prices have been good and the service excellent. I love the fact that they supply re-usable plastic boxes for moving and storage, rather than cardboard boxes that you have to buy, often break and end up in the trash. I'm going to start this review off with a TLDR... Stay away from MAS Moving at all costs. Apologies in advance, but this review is 3 months in the making. What started as a pleasant experience with good service turned into a nightmare move. I first found MAS by searching for plastic, reusable moving boxes. I filled out a form and got a call with 12 hours. Spoke with Luis and he explained to me that if I want to rent his boxes, I will either need to use them for moving or pay a fee per box. (hindsight, I should have just paid the rental fee.) I asked about his moving fees and he explained very clearly that there is an hourly, per man charge, a truck fee, and everything else was included. Also the boxes would be free of charge. I requested 50 boxes and he said he could deliver the next day. I explained to Luis that in order for someone to deliver boxes, he must have a driver's license on him in order to enter our gated community. Day of the delivery, guy shows up with no license. Luckily, I lived near another gate, so I made him park his truck and hand carry the boxes (4 trips) to my home. Minor crisis, averted. FFWD 2 weeks. I needed more boxes. Called Luis, no problem, he will send tomorrow. I reiterated, "You driver MUST have a license on him." "Yes sir, he replied, my guys are required to carry their license when driving on the job." Guess what happens next...NO FUCKING LICENSE!!" I made him walk again. Move date arrives, guys are 15 min late. Not a problem, I am a reasonable person. They arrive in a pick up truck, 5 guys in total (4 movers, one driver). They were polite and all spoke English. I asked where the 50 foot moving truck was, they said that the driver was going to pick it up down the road. Fine. They start unloading their gear and begin packing up my furniture. Not 15 minutes go by, my bathroom turns into a revolving door of a public bathroom. I swear each and everyone of those guys dropped major heat in my toilet. I don't know about you all, but I try to handle my business before going to work. They absolutely destroyed my bathroom (figuratively). It was so disgusting. I try to get over this and do. Hour goes by, no truck. Two hours go by, no truck. I ask often and get lots of "I dunno's" At this point, they are humming along, wrapping, packing, hauling furniture out of my home onto the driveway (since they don't have a truck to load up!) I find the main guy outside talking on the phone...in Spanish (thankfully, I understand enough to be dangerous) so I asked what happened, since I knew something was wrong. He said everything was fine. I called him out and said, that's not what you told your boss. Turns out they snapped a leg off of my very expensive buffet. Spoke to Luis, he rudely told me that shit happens, but they will fix it to like new condition. Ok, no time dwell, we have a house to move. I told them to be more careful. 4 hours pass, no truck. 5 hours pass, I call Luis and get a little more heated, which causes him to get very aggressive, rude, and condescending. Finally the truck arrives (reason it took so long is, yep you guessed, the DRIVER FORGOT HIS FUCKING LICENSE AT HOME!! ARGHHHH. Not only was this truck now 5 hours late, it was 15 feet, no 50. I had a 2500 sq ft house, this shit did not add up. I will FFWD some less important details here... it took them 4 trips back and forth (wasting and clocking time) to move my home. Thankfully the drive was 1/4 mile down the street. We moved into our brand new house which before we got there, I told the guys, that if they will be walking on carpet they must wear shoe covers. They obliged. They also kept the shoe covers on while walking outside!! How stupid and dense can you be?? I will FFWD some more, less important details here... Finally, time to settle up. Here's where the scam begins. *What I was told I would be charged for: -4 men (per hour) -1 truck (flat fee) -all materials included *What they tried charging me for: -4 men (per hour) -1 driver (per hour) -truck (per hour) -all packing materials (which they used with no abandon) -rental fee for boxes -2x delivery fee for boxes I called Luis and Lupe and spoke to both. We got into a shouting match, they telling me, this is the norm. I yelled some more and finally, wanting them to get the fuck out of my home, we settled on no charge for the packing materials. (I knew in the back of mind that I was going to fight the charge on my Amex.) I read over the agreement (which clearly states, must be signed before commencing work), I signed and time stamped hoping that it would help my case. It took them about a week, but they returned my buffet in very acceptable condition. Thankfully the break was hidden to the eye. I tried twice to fight the charge with Amex and finally gave up. I learned my lesson to do more research and will educate all my friends to stay the fuck away from MAS Moving. read more

From the very outset of my first call, you guys were responsive to my request for a bid to move my piano from a home in the bay area 600 miles away to our home in the Las Vegas area. The lady answering the phone answered my every question and did an excellent job coordinating between the movers and me. They were professional, they were responsive and they were highly competent and skilled movers. The driver of the giant moving van navigated the truck into my driveway with near surgical precision. Watching him park and position this giant truck to get my piano out of it was comparable to watching ballet. My last move with this company was a big disaster from start to finish. They do not tell the truth about anything. Their incompetence and dishonesty cost me an arm and a leg, not to mention the stress of dealing with people who will not take responsibility for anything but lie instead about everything. I had moved two other times with MAS very successfully (and my Aunt's business had also arranged numerous successful moves for their clients.) This last move, however, was and continues to be a nightmare. Starting with arriving with one two guys over six hours late, it went downhill. They had not informed me that a cashier's check for the balance would be due (rather than a personal check), they had unprofessional and inexperienced packers from a rehab center help with the packing, they were over nine hours late on the other end of the move. While loading and unloading there was breakage, damage and destruction. Items were, literally, thrown into boxes with no wrapping with things like metal horseshoes, so glass picture frames, office equipment, etc. were broken. The boxes were not labeled with the rooms they were to be placed in and if they were labeled, the information was incorrect (eg: "kitchen" items were from the Master Bathroom.) Antique furniture was broken and damaged and there are items missing, entirely. In addition, items that should have remained and that they were instructed to leave behind, were brought to the new house...leaving the leased old house without things like garden houses...bathroom mirrors (yes, they took them right off the walls!), etc. They sent people out to see the damage and take pictures...all a result of negligence, carelessness and unprofessionalism. There was zero damage or issues of concern from the items that were packed by four 8-16 year olds (over 30 boxes.) And the crowning insult...they are refusing any culpability and after five weeks are blaming the allergies the packers and movers had as a result of cat hair, dust and dirt at the move site (which was a ranch with six indoor cats...all of which they knew in advance.) It has been an aggravating and disappointing slap in the face, to say the least. Unpacking, as a result of unmarked boxes and having to constantly take photos of damage, etc., has been more than just difficult and time consuming. I know it is the same ownership as when I had positive experiences, but there is a world of difference as to who they are now. If the above sounds nightmarish...it is just the tip of the iceberg and the run-a-round, after five weeks, is still continuing. Irresponsible & very sketchy!!! Terrible way to run a business! I spoke to Lupe who was nice & then spoke to Luis, when asking questions before booking. I was asked if I have hard-wood floors, yes -- brand new! I was told the movers would put down some kind plastic protective mat to keep the floors nice. Great! Moving day: they were over an hour late. I requested 3 guys to make the move faster. They were friendly enough. We began the move. I started my timer on my phone to be certain of how long it took because I knew I was being charged by the hour (I had figured it would be about 3 hours). The move out of my storage unit went fine. I checked their paper to be sure the "to" address was correct, yes. I'm there waiting... I called and they went to a different address. The paperwork was correct! Afterward, I think they were trying to run the clock, because the drive was less than 10 minutes. When they actually show up, he apologized saying he punched the 4 instead of the 6... those numbers aren't close to each other on the number-pad to make sense for the error, and it's not like a 4 could be confused for a 6. They parked the truck half-way between the sensor gate, blocking it from closing. I asked why they don't pull the truck in so the gate can close!? The main guy said, "I'll just put my glove over the sensor, it'll keep it from closing. We do this all the time. It'll be fine." Yes, that's a direct quote. I was too naive and accepted this statement. They started unloading and I asked where the floor cover thingys were. The main guy told me it would take too much time to put them down. After looking inside their truck, I didn't see any anyway, I didn't think they had even brought them. The first piece of furniture in the bedroom was a tall dresser. I went in there after they brought it in just to see where they had put it. I immediately noticed scratches on the mirrored-closet doors, exactly the position of the corner of the dresser as it would be carried in. These mirrored doors were brand new! No prior scratches. I pointed it out to the guy, he said, "No, those were there." He insisted he did not scratch the mirror, which I knew was a lie. I watched them like a hawk as they moved in everything else! When they finished I checked my timer, about 3 1/4 hrs. They charged me 4 1/4, and Lupe told me they had surcharges for drive time, they can "legally" charge min. 30 mins for driving. The extra hour cost me +$100! (please refer to review from Tal A. on 7/23/15 about their fees) They left and the sensor gate never closed. We have security camera images before, during and after they came. It's clear that the their keeping the gate open that long damaged the sensor, it never closed until a repairman had to come the next day. Luis was fighting on the phone with me and the building manager. He said to me that if they didn't touch the building, they are not liable and won't pay for any damages. He also said they would have to send out their insurance estimator to check out the sensor before proving the fault was theirs. !!For the security of all who live there, the gate had to be fixed asap... no time to schedule an appointment for the estimator to review it in a damaged state!! The repair cost $75, still yet to be reimbursed by them. (please refer to review from Tal A. on 7/23/15 about Luis) I did schedule an appointment for the estimator to come look at the scratched mirrored doors. Lupe said I had to give a 4 hour window: 9-1 or 2-6. I asked for an exact appointment, a 4 hour window is ridiculous. She went back and forth with me for a week, finally I made the appointment and just took the afternoon off from work. Day of: I waited for them until 5:15pm, I called the office with no answer. Lupe emailed me at 5:30pm, informing me that the estimator can't make it because he was in Torrence (I'm in Hollywood), and sorry for any inconvenience. I replied that this was not ok, I had made an appointment expecting to have that time slot reserved, and waited the requested 4 hours, and that I had to take time off work for this. She said, "if I took time off work, that was my choice to do so." WHAT?! She also said that she had given me an option and asked what worked for me: 9-1 or 2-6. WHAT?! She said the estimator would have to be rescheduled for the following week, but that they do need a 4 hour window. It's been a week following and she has still not responded to me about making that appointment, when I have emailed 3 times asking to confirm an appointment. I can understand mistakes happen. But they should own up to them and just pay for the repairs instead of lying and dodging. Also ridiculous to over charge an entire hour! What a sketchy group of people! DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!! read more

My boss and Luis agreed on an amount to move 5 very large items. At the time my boss was contemplating moving 2 of the items himself and got a SECOND price to do that in case he decided to go that route. He ended up only having them move 3 items because we picked up the other two ourselves. When they arrived, A DAY LATE, the guys who were there to deliver the items said that it would be $500 which was the original amount to move 5 ITEMS. My boss called they office and explained to the woman that answered the phone what he and Luis had agreed upon and she was extremely RUDE and refused to honor the agreement the my boss and Luis made. She basically stated that if we didn't pay the $500, they would not take the items off of the truck and would take them back to their location.....essentially, stealing them because they were our property. The woman he talked to REFUSED to let him talk to Luis. THEN, the woman said that we had to pay in cash and that we could not pay with a company check. We ultimately needed the items and ended up paying the $500 on a credit card. Without our knowledge, they also added a $20 processing fee. Nothing about how they handled this was professional. They are clearly NOT trustworthy, have no interest in honoring deals made with Luis, force you to pay them what they want by holding your possessions hostage and don't even arrive on the day they are supposed to. The woman who answers the phone, should be fired for how she treated a customer. We will NEVER again use this company and will be sure to let the auction house that provided their information to us know how we were treated. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and Los Angeles is a small world. read more
