Omg! Their pastries are the best. Not a huge selection but the quality and size of them. My mom's favorite is the Boston cream. It looks like an eclair but actually isn't. My dad's is the half moon, or black and white as we call it. Huge and fluffy. I had the apple lattice pastry, not sure on real name. But it was light and flaky. Just enough apple and sauce. The don't have a huge staff due to size of space but they make up for it in kindness and smiles. An ABSOLUTE MUST if you're in the area! We got 3 different donuts that were MASSIVE and an everything bagel toasted and LOADED with cream cheese and our total was only $10 and some change! The filled donuts were FILLED whether it was raspberry or Bavarian cream. Service was extremely friendly and welcoming, but expect to wait in line as their pastries are sought after and employees are few. have been coming to the Adirondacks for the past few summers and without fail, we always have to stop at Mary's. get there early because there will always be a line, but it typically moves fairly quickly and the staff inside is super helpful in recommending pastries for you to buy. It is cash only so definitely make sure to bring some cash with you and seriously every pastry is so fresh and delicious - my favorites are the raspberry twist and the maple glazed doughnut. It's pretty small inside, which is why there's typically a line forming outdoors, but they have really cute seating on the outside that you can eat your pastries at or take it to arrowhead park and eat it along the water ! read more

Joel makes wonderful baked goods from scratch, the really good way. The donuts and chocolate eclairs, the fry cakes - so delicious. When I learned that they don't make cakes, I improvised, and bought his fabulous Bavarian Cream, which for him is a 3 day process and involves a lot of egg yolks and slow cooking. They sell all that goodness in large coffee cups, ready to eat (or use!) and it's totally amazing. If you do not mind waiting on line, the bakery has first class fry-cakes, doughnuts and calorie-loaded pastry. My favorite is the scones. Bagels and bread are also available. Pies should be pre-ordered. The scones vary by day. Cranberry and Blueberry are my favorites. People leave with boxes of goodies for their camps. read more

However, the chocolate eclairs with literally shift your worldview about 30-degrees toward happiness. This place is amazing!! The selection is out of this world and the service is... adorable. Things in Inlet run a little differently than I am typically used to; the pace of things is slow and schedules are hard to come by. But the people here will bend over backwards to help you out. My husband bought half a dozen bagels and asked if they sold cream cheese, too. The man working said that he could sell him cream cheese but it would be cheaper to go to the grocery across the street. When my husband asked when the grocery store opened, the bakery employee/owner replied, "I don't know. Things usually open when people show up." So he gave my husband a Styrofoam cup filled with cream cheese. We (of course) got a dozen donuts. My father-in-law said that it was the best jelly doughnut he's ever had. My kids loved the half-moon donuts. I think some people might prefer less frosting, but the staff would be happy to make it however you want. This place is a real gem. The attention to their customers and attention to detail is something that is hard to come by. If you are in the Adirondacks and can easily make the trip, I highly recommend this place. read more

Walked in to purchase and was told to go outside and read the sign I walked past saying I couldn't bring my beverage in. I get it that I didn't read it but all you have to say is "sorry, no outside beverages allowed" and I'd get it no problem. Saying "guess you didn't read the sign" then after I apologized and asked what it said saying "you can go outside and read it" is probably not the right thing to say. This place is great! I love pastries and doughnuts and Mary's does not disappoint. I have been to two of the top 10 doughnut shops in the nation in the past 3 weeks and I must say that Mary's is better then both! The cake doughnuts "fry cakes" are not dry like most shops, including SF and NYC. Aside from the pastries, the bagels are the best I have ever had. They are light and non-dense. This place has THE BEST doughnuts I have ever had. It's a tiny little place with only two people running the operation. The guy that works up front is so friendly & maintains a positive attitude even when they are slammed with customers. We were in town this past 4th of July & it was so busy the line literally was out the door & down the sidewalk. These guys work really long hours - come in very early in the morning & stay until late afternoon. If you're in or near Inlet grab a doughnut or two & head over to Arrowhead Park to eat! Only negative is sometimes you have to wait for more product to be made, but trust me these guys are working their butts off so give em a break! This is also probably only on the busy holiday weekends. read more

Customer service was awful we were waiting in line and the man working inside came out and yelled at two young couples drinking coffee(from across the street) and eating the donuts that they bought from inside. He yelled at them and said they couldn't have their coffee and eat their donuts there since the coffee was purchased across the street, even slammed down the sign that said it. I felt bad, they didn't know what to say. I would have understood if they hadn't bought anything from the donut shop but they did. Sad to see. There was a better way of going about that. read more

I'm a little spoiled living in NYC where I can get some of the best baked goods money can buy. I liked Mary's but wasn't nearly as enthusiastic as the other reviewer. Mary's is a tiny bakery in the heart of the town of Inlet. They don't have the biggest variety of items and if you need to use a card (unluckily as everything is dirt cheap) the guy has to run next door to the gift shop to run it. They had one or two types of donuts, one type of cookie, 3 or 4 types of pastries, 2 types of cupcakes, and a couple other items available. I got one of their giant eclairs which was full of a ton of filling with very little cake. I thought there was too much filling and what was there was too thin and watery but I really enjoyed how fresh it was (maybe the filling needed to chill or set a little more). The raspberry jam cookie was very thin and maybe a little too soft but the flavor was great and again, extremely fresh. Overall I'd say that if you're in the area you really ought to stop on by Mary's for a baked good or two as the service is friendly, everything is fresh, they have a few tables outside, and the prices are right. read more

In area for a week and went there twice. A great find. Loved the size of the small donuts (they called them something else). These are perfect size for kids, my kids anyway, who don't need donuts the size of my birthday cakes when I was their age. Staff was very friendly.
