I have read the reviews here and the negatives seem to be about how the new business is being run and NOT about Ian's ability as a trainer. Hopefully Ian reads the reviews and fixes those parts of the business that are causing negative reviews. MY STORY: We adopted a rescue dog (a 80 lbs. Chow) and gets overly excited and therefore no one else wanted it. When we first got her it was difficult for me and impossible for my wife to walk the dog. Although it was funny to watch the dog pull my wife around the neighborhood, something had to be done. We called a company and Ian came over and spent about 15 minutes talking with us about the dog and about us. He asked us what we wanted to accomplish. He then took the dog on a 10 minute walk by himself. When he came back we all went for a walk and I was amazed we had a new dog. Our dog was walking behind him and was constantly looking at Ian for direction. Ian then let us walk the dog and show us how to hold the leash and to correct the dog. Within a couple more visits our dog was exercising on a treadmill and retrieving beers from the fridge for me (kidding on this one.) I will say you will have to continue to be consistent with the dog. Dogs are very smart and will want to follow a leader, the problem is when we forget to be that leader. We would always book an extra large suite with patio access allowing the dogs to go in and out of a doggie door all day long and they had plenty of room within the suite and would have some yard/playtime, depending on their temperament. Every suite door has a paper with all the details about your animal and any special dietary restrictions or temperament issues so anybody dealing with your dog knows what's up before they even approach them. Our dogs were always happy when we picked them up.

They called when something was right with his poop when there was extra medication in his bag and to inquire about his toys. I appreciated the ongoing communication, and judging by the report card, he loved the team. Stand away from this dog. etc. etc." I want to be understanding, but the last visit it got downright rude. Perhaps there is not enough space? Maybe there is a more conducive location? Recently our boy Finn dislocated his hip and needed surgery to fix it. We called every VCA around and everyone was booked, it was also a Saturday so that was understandable. Aurora was the last VCA on our list because it's an hour and a half southeast of our home. So we called to see if we could get him in, we were told yes but it was a 2-3 hour wait because they were packed as well. We waited because our Finn is worth the wait. Finn got in to see a doctor, they ran all of their tests/X-rays and kept us informed every step of the way. We eventually got into a room and were given the results along with all the options and costs, they were very professional and informative. We decided to wait until Monday to make an appointment for surgery, otherwise we would have had to pay the "weekend fees/rates. We called Monday to schedule an appointment for surgery. Surgery was scheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday morning we dropped off Finn and his food; we were told they would call us before and after surgery and again before bedtime, and they did. We arrived Wednesday afternoon to pick Finn up and we were given all of his paperwork and meds, then we instructed on what to look out for during the healing process and how to use his meds and to call if we needed anything and to schedule an appointment with our VCA for a follow up. From beginning to end Aurora Animal Hospital crushed it!, Knocked it out of the park!, and exceeded our expectations!!!! Great Job Aurora VCA Staff and Thank You!!
