Bait and switch at its finest. I've had my dogs there twice, which is two times too many. I should have learned my lesson the first time when I was quoted one price and paid another 2 days later at pick-up. This time, I asked for one night and a bath/cut, quoted at $325 and charged $576. My directions were to cut the dogs as short as the groomer was comfortable with, knowing that my Australian Shepherds are double coat dogs and every groomer I've taken them too refuses to go any shorter than 2". They shaved my dogs down to the skin, and then sent a picture asking if they took off enough....as if I'm able to say "please put some back on". They fought with me every step of the way and lie about their service and pricing. I'd be amazed if they were actually licensed to groom dogs. They are rude, insulting, and refuse to apologize for any of their absurd actions. For the safety of all pets in the area, they should close shop and find something new to do. 1 star because I can't put 0. read more

They groom there dogs out side in the yard. I spent $80.00 for my dog to be washed out side hooked to a fence. Was told by a former employee she said ( it was easier ) That was 60.00 for the wash 10.00 for an extra conditioner, then was asked to give a tip. There self taught by the owner. I was told he needed 2 nail trims because they were so long. His nails looked like little daggers on the ends when they were finished. read more

Do not recommend to others. Called this service and initially felt very confident and comfortable with our pup going to daycare. The experience itself is the cause of the one star review. I showed up to drop our girl off for her first day of daycare and Laura was taking the leash at the front door and pulling her into the home and closing the door on me without any discussion. The front yard and house itself seemed a bit unkempt. Obviously I wanted to see where our dog was going to spend the day and that was outright refused. I wanted to make sure that our dog wasn't placed with large dogs day one due to her young age and size and while making the request Laura just kept saying she would be fine and that the other dogs were all friendly. I was also concerned that there was rain in the forecast and wanted to know if the outdoor area was covered. I felt like Laura did not want me to see the space and it made me very uncomfortable to leave. Only the fact that my pups tail was wagging and she seemed OK and I was worried that I was being a new pet parent and being overly sensitive drove me to give it a try. Fast forward to the end of day one. No updates nor feedback on how the day went or how our girl did. Not even a note that she had been dropped back at our house as agreed upon . Very disconcerting. We will not be using this service again. read more

we made or first and last trip to a pets home. we took our 2 Aussi's to have them groomed 6 1/2 hours and $345 later we picked up our pets didn't even look like they cut their hair at all we paid extra to have their paws done didn't even trim the hair on their feet. before I even saw a bill I was asked how much of a tip I was leaving I ask for the bill again she asked how much the tip was I told her I wanted a receipt had to ask for that. never again and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

First off - Laura Mae will tell you that she's certified in pet first aid, and that will be a big selling point. It was for me. Secondly, she will tell you that she is a professional trainer and your dog will learn SO much. That too will be a big selling point - it was for me, too. But all that means nothing if NO ONE is HOME and that's what this place is - it should be called "The Pet's Home....But No One Else Is!" because that is exactly what it is. We dropped our puppy off at Laura Mae's Oswego house (they have two) on Saturday afternoon for an overnight stay - picking up on Sunday afternoon. When we got there Sunday, NO ONE WAS HOME - but our puppy was, and we heard at least three other barks. We thought nothing of it at first, there have been times Laura Mae couldn't get to the door right away. 5 minutes go by and I send a text....no reply.....5 more minutes and another customer arrives to pick up their dog. They text Laura Mae, they call, no answer. 20 minutes go by and now I'm concerned - did something happen to her? My dog is scratching at the window because it can't understand why I won't come in and take it home, and I'm wondering if Laura Mae is okay. Reluctantly we drive to Laura Mae's other house in Plainfield(about 10 minutes away) to see if her husband knows if something's going on. There are two cars in the driveway INCLUDING LAURA MAE'S!!! Still no answer by phone or text!! No answer when I knock on the door, except for numerous barks and at least two dogs visible. My wife and I stop by our house for a minute, sit in the driveway to cool off (at this point we are furious), and we decide to go get our dog and call the police if there is no answer when we get to the Oswego house. As we're leaving, Laura Mae texts that she is on her way to her Oswego house and will be there shortly. No "sorry", no apology, no explanation for why she wasn't watching our dog and the others that were freely roaming the Oswego house. This is HALF AN HOUR after we first arrived to pick up our dog!! I look in my rear view mirror and she's behind us and driving her car - obviously she was at her Plainfield house and didn't answer the door....or texts....or calls....and from multiple customers!! But was now she was high tailing it to Oswego. She pulls up to the house right after us, gets our dog without any apology or reason for not being there. It was like nothing happened!!!! As my dog is coming out, there is a small dog half its size barking at me - it was roaming FREE with larger dogs with NO ONE HOME!!! We were so upset we left quietly, but in hindsight should have stayed and called the police. This place is pure negligence and does not deserve to operate!!!! read more

Terra has been going to The pets home since the day we got her. We picked her up on a Sunday and dropped her off at The pets home on Monday. She loves It there. Sometimes I think too much. She doesn't want to leave. She's now a year old, we could probably leave her at home by herself while we work but we won't do that. She loves it there too much. They even trim her nails when we ask . My dog needed to go to the vet and Laura offered to take her if we couldn't. I would highly recommend them if you're looking for someone to watch your dog. read more

I'm so thankful for The Pet's Home! I got a new puppy last year and forgot how much work it is. I love Daisy so much, but I also have a full-time career and I love to travel. Laura and Jessica have saved my life! They are so kind and sweet to my dog! They accommodate my crazy work schedule and provide daycare sometimes throughout the week and take her overnight if I'll be out of town. They are very responsive, kind and I totally feel comfortable when Daisy is with them! They even send me pictures to let me know Daisy is having fun. She loves being with all the other dogs, running around and going swimming! Laura has even helped me with a few behavioral problems that come with all puppies. This was our third visit and I came back to an empty house with 4-5 other dogs. I rang the doorbell numerous times..(Thought maybe she was in the powder room) checked the back of the house and then looked in the garage to NO ONE HOME! I immediately called her and it went directly to vm. She text back stating "that she was dropping off dogs". Number 1...this is a PUPPY that requires care! I tried calling..and then text ..and received a text back stating she was at an appt. If you knew about the appt..then TELL ME so I can make arrangements...not to mention my PUPPY is left with other LARGE dogs ALONE! Can not state how unprofessional this is...not my idea of any kind of DAYCARE! read more

We have used The Pet's Home about 3 times when we've gone on vacation. The first time, we had to unfortunately leave a ill dog that was taking almost ten pills a day. Laura Mae was in touch every evening with texts and pictures, and, when we got back, we could clearly tell that the dog had been given her medication. The next two times, The Pet's Home cared for our 2 dogs while we were on vacation--once for a week, and once for 5 days. I needed someone to watch my dog while my house was being shown to prospective buyers. I called Laura Mae at 6am (which is when I got the call from my realtor) and she didn't even hesitate! She took such good care of my dog - I brought her there about 6 times and each and every time she helped me out! I don't know what I would have done without her! She is a gem! She truly loves her clients! From the minute she met my dog, you could tell she just loved her! She would text me throughout the day with updates and pictures to reassure me that everything was going well and that my dog was adjusting just fine to her strange surroundings. In addition, I was going from a house with a yard to a townhouse and knew it would be difficult to bring the dog with so I wanted to find a good home for my her. Well, Laura Mae helped me with that too. One of her clients was looking for another dog. She handled the introductions and it workout out!!! I filled out the form on the website for a vacation we were taking the end of June. I didn't get a response to confirm whether or not someone would be able to watch our dog for a week. I had to email them back. They confirmed we were "on the calendar". I emailed back asking more questions in regards to our time away. I never received a response to various questions I asked. I had to email again. I asked if she had received my email once again and the response I got was "yes I emailed you saying that I did". But still, none of my questions were answered. My husband and I did not feel comfortable leaving our dog under these circumstances, so I sent another email canceling the service. We found someone to watch our dog at their home instead. Well, to my horror and surprise, I received phone calls while on vacation from LauraMae asking where our dog was. I could not accept these calls because we were out of the country. She then started texting me. I can't even begin to tell you how disturbing it was knowing someone is in your home without your permission going from room to room looking for a dog that isn't even there. LauraMae claims she received all of my emails but if she did, she would've known we canceled her services and she would not have been in my home looking for a dog that was not there! Very very poor communication. Very upsetting to deal with on the first day of our vacation! read more

I used this company last July (2011) for a 2 week period while on vacation in Florida. Kathleen came to care for our cat, watered flowers, took out garbage and retrieved the mail for us. She send daily updates and several pics! She went above and beyond for us and we were so very impressed with her!! I was so impressed I called again to us the service for approx 4 days over the July 4th weekend. Laura Mae called back from a message left, indicated Kathleen was no longer with her but she'd be happy to take care of things while we were away. I indicated the same things to be taken care of as the previous year, Laura Mae indicated it was no problem at all that she personally would be coming by as she already has a client in the Oswego area she's caring for so it would work out just fine. I emailed her the list of things to do, and left a copy at my home for her as well. The list was very detailed as to make sure the outdoor potted plants were specified so they were watered due to the hot weather conditions, garbage day indicated, cat box location and all the food and treats were left out on the kitchen counter. Day one came, didn't hear from Laura Mae til 6 pm ish with a text that everything was fine, she "forgot to message me, got in, everything is fine." A few other messages came, late evening 10pm ish and the final early 6 am ish....saying "your place looks great!" We would be returning home this day early evening so assumed everything was great! Then........we pulled in the driveway around 8pm, and noticed all of the potted plants were dried out and wilted, 2 had dried up and died. The dirt in the pots was so dry, it had suck away from the edges of the pots...that's BONE DRY!! The garbage had no been taken out either. Laura Mae did call about the garbage but the point is, I paid for this to be completed and it wasn't. Came into the house and the cat practically swarmed us! He was loving as usual, went to get him some treats and noticed his food bowl was completely empty! I instructed the dry food bowl be left with food in it. It takes the cat days to eat the whole bowl and it was empty! I immediately called Laura Mae, left her a voice mail asking for a call back as I was beyond disappointed! She did call back, a short while later.....She indicated she watered everything as I requested, admitted to forgetting the garbage but said she did everything else. She did not know, but my mother in law came by to check the plants while we were gone, and found them bone dry as well...she watered them for us, otherwise all would have been lost I'm sure. Laura Mae indicated that she had several other animals to get to and she was busy, that the priority was my cat and he was well taken care of! My response to her was...."If, only he could talk!" Had she indicated that she were too busy, I would have found someone else, but she did not , and indicated what I requested was everything normally done for the fee. Complete and total disappointment in every aspect of service is an understatement! Canceled the check for payment of "lack of services" used the $$ to replace flowers destroyed. Too bad my cat can not talk, I'm sure he'd have some choice words. read more

The Pets Home has done a nice job with our three pets (2 cats and a dog). 2 of the pets require medication and Laura Mae does great with them. We have asked that mail be brought in and garbage cans be taken out/in=all done without a problem. We will continue to use this efficient and friendly company. read more

As first-time dog owners, we were a bit apprehensive about leaving our new goldendoodle puppy home alone all day after spending two weeks at home with her. We called several dog-walking services in the Plainfield area but Laura Mae was the only provider who offered to transport her to and from her home for a four-hour midday stay at a price that was actually lower than having a dog walker come twice a day. We thought that we would use her services until Gracie was old enough to stay alone all day. Well, almost two years later, Laura Mae or Jessica continue to pick up Gracie approximately three days a week. She loves going to "Grandma Laura Mae's" to play with her friends. Gracie has stayed overnight at her home when we travel for days at a time or a weekend or when going downtown for the day. When we are out of town, Laura Mae keeps in close contact and sends pictures. We know she loves Gracie as much as we do! Laura Mae is very trustworthy and always provides the best care to our "children." In fact, during our most recent vacation my dog became extremely frightened during the big storms impacting the Chicagoland area. My dog chewed out of her wire crate and created a bloody and poopy mess around the house. Not only did Laura Mae do her best to clean up the mess BUT she provided extra measures to take care of my dog the remainder of our trip. She did all of this without us even having to ask her. My dog actually seemed sad to have us home from our trip because of the great time she had with Laura Mae. The Pet's Home is someone I would NOT use ever again! This was the first time I used this business and it requires you to fill out many detailed forms, which I did. Sad to say the owner which was to care for my dog did not follow the instructions. I paid for 3 visits per day which my dog needed medicine ( a pill ) for an injured paw.This owner not only FAILED to give her the medicine , she took her on a walk that was in the instructions not to do. Common sense would tell you to comfort a swollen paw not add pain to injury. May I add We came home from our trip a few hours early only to find my dog hiding in a corner, NO water ( she doesn't even drink a bowl a day and upon giving her water she drank 5 ! ), dried old food in her bowl that has ants that have now entered the house! The smell in the house was horrible from accidents left behind. Later I found out from a watchful neighbor that the owner was there on Saturday morning and never came back until we arrived home Sunday evening!!! She did manage to cash the check for $15 per visit for 3 times a day. Needless to say I had to take my pet to the vet and miss a day of work. I can only hope this has not happened to other fur babies. read more
