I just adopted Daisy from PAWS Chicago and quickly learned she was a picky princess. Knowing she had to grow quickly as she had a litter of puppies at only 11 months old, I was happy to spoil her. The kibble the shelter provided remained untouched for three meals in a row, and mixing in wet food meant she was picking out just the wet food. I also tried to start training her with treats I got at PetCo but she ignored the treats, and I began to think she wasn't food motivated. Since I'm a new pet owner, I was hoping there was a pet shop close to home in Andersonville and I came across Jameson Loves Danger. I came in and the guy at the counter helped me navigate the dog food options after I explained Daisy does not like dry food. I found some dry food toppers Daisy absolutely loves (Stella and Chewys meal mixers and Stella's Stew). Daisy at her whole bowl including the kibble! She didn't like the bacon flavored treat but was glad to hear of their 100% guarantee which meant I could exchange the treat for something else. We tried a few samples and the recommended freeze dried chicken (VitalEssentials) was a home run. Daisy is definitely food motivated now! I went ahead and booked a grooming appointment but recommend making them in advance since the earliest available was 3 weeks out. She also looks really cute in her new collar. I know she is getting a new toy from her next time since she wants already going crazy at some of the toys just walking by them in the store. I will definitely be back to spoil this perfect baby! Such a neighborhood gem.

When we first adopted Meowth and Persian, "Felines and Canines," the animal shelter near Devon and Clark, referred us to "Jameson Loves Danger" with a 10% off coupon. We bought a bag of cat litter and a litter tray soon after the adoption paperwork was completed. Our first impression of this local pet store was very positive. The workers there were very helpful, seemed to like what they do, and invited us to come back. Andersonville is one of the neighborhoods in the city hubby and I constantly poke around on our days off. Since we needed a few thing for our feline sons, we made a trip to JLD on the way back home. Prices for cat essentials, such as cat litter, dry food, can treats, and toys were reasonable. I could see there were different "grades" of cat foods, and prices could vary by up to $5. Well, we consumers would make decisions based on our budgets and needs. Even though JLD is a relatively small shop, selections on this category were impressive. My "Meowth" loved the b.f.f. (best feline friend) can treat. He went a bit bonkers. They signed us up with the loyalty program. It certainly didn't hurt to be rewarded for the items we had to purchase on a regular basis.

1.89 10 cents cheaper down the street at krisers and better service there.

This place is hot or miss as far as customer service. Sometimes outstanding sometimes non existent. Not always stocked as far as cat food. When prices go up they dont change the price on the shelf. They do have extended hours. Hence 2 stars. Its also quite small for bring your dog with if they arent so great around other dogs.

Brandon and my sweet boi, Tiny.

At other groomers, I've been told that Tiny was so stressed and cranky and hard to groom, but Brandon said grooming him was so easy and that Tiny did very well. I'm not going to any other groomer ever again. Brandon is my #1. Tiny is so soft now and his nails are all trimmed. This place is also super affordable and it's obvious that they love animals.

Do this shop offer doggy training classes?

Hi Alice! No, Jameson Loves Danger does not offer doggy training classes. However we do offer local delivery options, online shopping, and full time grooming options. Thank you!

Does this business sell Tea Cup yorkie puppies?

Hi Nanette! We do not carry any animals available for adoption. It isn't legal in the state of Illinois to commercially sell dogs and cats. I would recommend reaching out to a breeder or checking out the many adoptable animals at local shelters!

One of the true pleasures of living in a big city it to discover treasures in the most unexpected of places. Who would think that dog grooming would be one such place but I consider CleanDog to be a treasure in Chicago. John brings a rare combination of pride or work and some kind of genius for dog grooming that is ineffable; he just has a feel and an incredible talent for working with dogs. What brought me in the door for our Maltipoo Bailey is that I was looking for someone who would not immediately resort to shears to deal with some matting (admittedly, we had let Bailey go and she was very matted). I know that taking her to our prior groomer would result in her coming home shivering and looking like a short-haired chihuahua. Reading the reviews here led us to CleanDog. In short, John did not disappoint. He is so kind and helpful and went the extra mile (and then another extra mile and then another after that). As others have experienced, we could not believe how wonderful she looked. In fact, it was the best she has ever looked, hands down. John patiently brushed her out, gave her a much needed bath, and then working his own unique magic, brought out the scissors and turned her into a show dog. I can't imagine taking her for grooming anywhere else in Chicago.
