I should've have looked at the reviews before I went for my office visit. The bad reviews are spot on! Waited over an hour to see the doctor. The doctor was really nice super knowledgeable, but the staff is the worst. Had an issue and called the office and was told doctor would get back to me. I had to go to urgent care and they were even shocked the doctor didn't call me. I blame the doctor with these horrible reviews. I've gotta think the doctor knows how horrible her staff is. I would not go there. I would avoid her at all costs. They' are so many better doctors out there. I already found one. You don't get quality care here. They just pack people in!!! As many others have mentioned, no one ever picks up the phone. I called multiple times across a few days to schedule my annual exam and the calls all went straight to voicemail. After another unanswered call during business hours, I decided to drive to their office. Guess what? There were THREE staff members sitting at the front desk chit chatting away. I asked to make an appointment and they quickly scheduled one. I guess they shut off their phone lines and wish the best of luck to their patients. Once I did go to my appointment, I overheard yet another patient asking to schedule an appointment in-person because she couldn't get through via phone. I then waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seen for 10 minutes. They appeared to be very overbooked. If you care about your health and don't want to spend hours just trying to schedule a standard appointment, avoid this place. read more

I've seen her for about four years for regular check ups but when a real fearful situation pops up I couldn't be more disappointed. after having a pap and ultrasound, I called over 7 times and left messages each time to find out the results. no one ever called back. I never got the results of the ultrasound and was told 5 weeks or so after that " the doctor hasn't opened them yet" this is horrible and I have since found another gynecologist to help me understand what is going on with my body. this is honestly shameful and the staff should be replaced if they cannot return calls or ensure that the doctor gets them. if it's the doctor that's taking on too many clients for a big payday that she can't take care of them properly, well, shame on her. read more

Will absolutely never be coming back to this practice. I had an appointment scheduled for 4:30 and was not brought back into a room until 5:58. A NP student came in to see me prior to the doctor and didn't knock until AFTER she had already opened the door. Finally at 6:23 the doctor came in for my visit. Almost TWO HOURS later than my appointment time. I completely understand that not all appointments run on time, and sometimes there is a wait, but an hour and a half just to be roomed is ridiculous. I was one of those unfortunate pregnant women whose insurance gets changed in the middle of her complicated pregnancy. For that I blame my employers who are trying to save money. She picked up my prenatal care without a problem. She took very good care of me and my daughter was born at 36 weeks - small but healthy. For that I will always be grateful to Dr. Olender! She is my kind of doctor- direct, no B.S. and tells you how it is. I appreciate that. She and I don't have time to deal with pretty words to tell you bad news. I delivered at West Hills Hospital which also had its pros and cons. Either way they have decided to close their OB floor effective 11/2020. Office is tiny so don't bring your large stroller. In fact, I would carry my car seat when I went for my postpartum visits. It has recently been redecorated so it does look nicer. She is very busy and it takes weeks to get on her schedule so definitely schedule visits ahead of time. If you have a late apportionment, you will be waiting a long time as she gets backed up. Make your appointments early in the day or bring reading material. The one thing I wished that she would have guided me a little more on was breastfeeding. She wouldn't order my breast pump before week 37 and guess what I had my daughter at week 36! The pump came late and by then, I wasn't producing milk. read more

I did my appointment a 3 months an advance to this doctor. First of all it was hard to make an appointment with her as there no one picking up the phone , I left my voice mail a few times but no one returned my call. After trying a few weeks I was finally able to reach them. They scheduled me for 10 am.I arrived at 9.50 to have an additional time as i am a new patient and thought I have to fill and sign some paperwork. The reception ladies were there but they did not let me come in and told me wait behind the door since they open only at 10. It was a little bit strange for me especially there no chairs in the hallway but I patiently waited. At 10 am there they let me in and 2 more customers arrived as well. I noticed that they have been scheduled for 10 as well. I spend about 5-10 min to fill out new patient forms. After that nurse called me to the room. After measure my blood pressure she told me that doctor is not there yet and she don't know how long to wait. It was already 10.25 by that time. She explained that doctor might be at the other city doing surgery or something else and that she did not notify them. They refuse to call her to found out her eta. When I asked them why they did not call me and reschedule my appointment in this case and they just did not know what to say and even did not apologize. I just left that office right away! This is so ridiculous that neither doctor herself or her staff have any respect to the customers and their time. This office sending messages prior visit that they will charge $50 if customer will not show up on the appointment or notify before 24 hours. After trying calling hundreds times without any responds, I had to go to the office in person. The front desk girl can't explain why no one pick up or return phone calls. I pointed out I need help with the bill. The girl doesn't know what to do. I said Cigna told me to put correct codes for my blood tests. Since I got a lot of blood test these few months, even I knows a lot of different codes. I said what's about try Xxxx. She said she submitted again... After 1 month long waiting, a new bill came back, sill the same amount $241.84. At the end, I called my insurance company again. My insurance company helped connect Quest diagnostics. Turned out my responsibility was $0. The main root is still doctor didn't clarify vitamin D is for medical necessary which I do a vitamin D deficiency. I was struggling with pain due to ovarian cyst and possible endometriosis, my husband found Dr. Olender online, after reading reviews and information about her we decided to go for a consultation as previous experiences with gynecologists for me were horrible. The best decision I ever made, doctor was incredibly knowledgeable, she listened to every concern I had, she was the first gynecologist in the US that truly cared about my well being and not just prescribed me birth control and sent me home! Thanks to her I finally got diagnosed with endometriosis, I had my surgery and painful ovarian cyst was finally removed! Now I can start my healing journey as of before when I wasn't heard or payed attention when I was bringing up all of my pains and symptoms. You can see that she treats each patient with care and attention they deserve. And yes, maybe there is a little bit of a wait when you come for an appointment, but so with almost every doctor I've seen, its absolutely normal, at least she is worth waiting for, and when she sees you she gives you her full undivided attention! After searching for a good gynecologist for years and dealing with horrible doctors I can fully appreciate having Dr. Olender as my doctor now! Despite calling multiple times every day, her office never picks up the phone. Despite a family history of breast cancer and having four lumps in each breast, I underwent an MRI recommended by the imaging center 13 days ago. When I contacted the imaging center for my results, they informed me they were sent to my doctor's office and would be available on the portal in 7 days. However, the doctor didn't bother to discuss the MRI results with me. Even after obtaining my results in person, the doctor still hadn't contacted me. But over 2 hours late multiple times. And no, she wasn't delivering someones baby. She was just overbooking herself. It was frustrating and a blatant disregard for patients time. Problem two, results. It took her over 2 months to relay my lab results to me. In that interim, I was suffering w pain and severely distressed. I contacted her multiple times, but was not a priority. I visited to Dr. Olender in fall of 2020. I had to take 2 tests, I got a bill for those right after my visit. In June 2021, I got a derogatory mark on my credit and found out that I have 2 more bills to pay. I called the lab and they stated that I took 6 different tests, and my bill is over $400!!!. Dr.Olender's office reported that I had 6 tests when I only had 2. I have tried calling them 20 times a day since I found out about those unexpected charges. No one has ever picked up the phone or returned my call. I do understand that mistakes happen but my credit is destroyed now and they would never contact me. If anyone from Dr. Olender's office is reading this right now, please contact me immediately. I had to pay for the test that I never took in order to get rid of derogatory marks. THIS IS NOT OKAY! I am very very disappointed. I m writing this detailed review because I am frustrated to say the least and I do agree with some of the other feedbacks . 1. You can never ever reach the front desk . Every single time you call the office it goes straight to voicemail. No matter what time of day or week you call. 2. When you leave a voicemail , you should be lucky enough to get a call back from them. the doctors assistant who never picks up by the way . I went round and round with 2 separate billing departments. Each of each would say call the other billing department. I paid with my AMX card. They billed card a second time without my approval. I've seen Dr. Olender on two occasions. Both visits have been great for me. I got all my questions answered and I feel great to be under her care. She is a very nice and pleasant doctor. She put me at ease by addressing all my options and then leaving it up to me to decide what is best for my body. Dr Olender is a fantastic doctor. She delivered my first child and was my doctor from the second I found out I'm pregnant until post partum and now for routine care. She is honest, up to date on research, caring, funny, and a pleasure to spend time with in what can be uncomfortable situations. Yes, there can be a long wait, but what obgyn doesn't have a long wait? It's a result of her not rushing you when you're in the patient room and answering every single question you have. She never makes you feel like you're asking stupid questions or like you're a burden. She LISTENS to what you want and respects you and your preferences. She saved my life post partum when I felt anxious and depressed. I've cried in front of her so much and she makes me feel understood and cared for. I truly love her and recommend her to everyone. Yes, although this is true, however if people were to think about why and actually observe her you would understand that she's making you wait not because she's sitting down in her office doing nothing.....this is because she gives each and every patient a lot of attention and answers questions until the patient feels comfortable. My health insurance was a complete disaster last year... Of course, THE YEAR I GET PREGNANT! After figuring out the whole situation though, I wound up in the care of Mary Olender. I was nervous at first about switching doctors because I was so comfortable with the one I had been going to for quite some time (and paying out of pocket for), however when I realized that my insurance wouldn't cover the hospital bills (for delivery) that my old doctor worked at, I knew I had to say goodbye to her! Honestly, despite the obnoxious crap I went through with my insurance, it all worked out in the end because I wound up really liking Mary, and in fact, dare I say, I'm a tad bit bummed that I'm not longer one of her patients (I changed insurance companies). Mary's style is very straight forward yet weirdly comforting. Some might find her demeanor slightly harsh but I loved it because I love REAL TALK and ZERO SUGAR COATING! Also, I could genuinely tell that Mary truly cared about my health as well as my baby's health. I won't go into much detail about that because it's a long story but let's just say that I have a blood disorder that could have been potentially fatal yet Mary watched it like a hawk! I could tell Mary is an insanely busy and in demand OBGYN yet whenever I met with her (and when she finally delivered my baby on Dec 29), I always felt like we were close personal friends... I mean, after all, she did venture down stairs a lot to check out the SITUATION- if that doesn't make you CLOSE, then I don't know what will! Ha! Over all, I am thrilled with my experience with Mary, and believe you will be as well, as long as you don't like being sugar coated. I will always remember when I was changing OBGYNs and before I met Mary, I got my blood drawn and was talking to the woman taking my blood about my whole health insurance issue... She asked me who my new doctor was going to be as she used to work for one up in West Hills (where my insurance assigned me) and when I said Mary Olender, the woman grew a huge smile saying THAT is who she used to work for and loves her and knew I would too! Dr. Olender is the real deal. I travel 15+ miles to see her, without a flinch. She is insanely busy, but she always seems to make me feel like I'm her only patient. She is extremely thorough when explaining options, she listens intently, and encourages you to ask as many questions until you feel comfortable. She provides information and does not judge or push decisions; she gives her detailed advice and recommendations, and lets you decide what is best for you and your body. Dr. Olender makes uncomfortable treatments/procedures a breeze, because she is personable and friendly. It's a shame that all of the one-star reviews here are about making appointments. Dr. Olender should have five stars. My tip if you're trying to make an appointment: call Monday morning at 9am, or any morning at 9am. Her staff seems to be the most attentive right when the office opens. Also, call at night after the office has closed and leave a message. I am writing this review because my daughter is a patient of Dr. Orlender. My daughter has PCOS & has a high level of prolactin. Now according to the doctor, this hormone level is typically high for 2 reasons: (1) you are pregnant or (2) you are breastfeeding. She is neither. So per the doc, if neither of these are present, it means that she may have a prolactinoma. Which is a brain tumor. She has done blood work (multi times) ultra sound and MRI. Doc called once left a message and has not returned the 15 calls my kid has left her. By the way, my daughter, 18 years old. How on earth does someone lay that out to an 18 year old and not follow up. We are in the process of moving to another doctor but the lack of care from her is unreal. I WOULD NEVER want her to be the person to help deliver my babies. For that you need a heart and actually care about people. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER OB. They are plenty of really great ones out there. read more

Dr. Olender and all the staff at this office are wonderful. I came in yesterday during the workday, and the front desk told me that they accepted Aetna, but weren't part of the group listed on my card. Barbara was very helpful in walking me through the process of calling member services and getting it so that I could be seen that day right there in that office instead of turning me away and saying, "Sorry, we just don't accept that here. Good luck." She even went so far as to talk to the woman (who was a shame of a Customer Service Representative, coming from someone who has an embarrassingly-long history of Customer Service Experience) on the phone herself, and outlining all the details for her so I could be seen that day. As soon as all the details were ironed out, I was seen as soon as humanly possible. Dr. Olender was very friendly and funny. When going through the routine pre-examination questions, she said, "You're annoyingly healthy". Anyway, everyone here is great and I'm so glad that I will be able to continue coming back thanks to everyone's help here! read more
