I went to Dr. Silberstein as a college student and had a terrible experience. First of all, she was quite rude and condescending. For example, while taking down my medical history, she asked "are you healthy?" and I said yes. Later I mentioned that I have been on levothyroxine for 10 years for Hashimoto's. She passive agressively told me in a snarky tone, "When someone asks if you have any medical conditions, you need to mention that." However, she had NOT asked me if I had any medical conditions -- she asked me if I was HEALTHY, and I was indeed because my hypothyroidism is being appropriately managed by an endocrinologist. I did not appreciate her acting as though I am an idiot when I was a STEM major at a top university that Taaly frankly would not have been accepted to. In addition to her poor bedside manner, I was highly dissatisfied with her medical care. When I asked her to put me on birth control for acne, she simply handed me a pack of pills and began to walk out. "Wait!" I exclaimed. "Is this the best one for acne? Can you explain to me why?" She dismissively replied "all birth control is good for acne" and left the room. This is the reason I have come back to share a review today: I struggled with worsening acne for years after that visit, only to be told by a dermatologist this week that the birth control I had been prescribed by the brilliant Taaly was androgenic and actually can WORSEN acne. If you are looking to be treated with respect and receive high quality medical care, I would not go here. read more

I had the worst experience of my 55 years on this earth today with Dr Silberstein. I was referred by my primary care doctor and was told she was great. From the minute we walked into the reception, the staff were hostile and unfriendly. After reading the reviews we now realize that this office is very NOT LGBtQ friendly, my partner and are LGBTQ and had our two year old daughter with us. Usually people at least say hi to our kid but nothing from these horrible staff. I have been suffering from extreme fatigue caused by severe anemia for years and it curtails any kind of consistency with working out. This 'Dr' insisted on fat shaming me over and over again, telling me I have to lose weight, I'm 60 pounds max over weight and as I said before I can't stay consistent with working out because of my severe anemia. I'm also in perimenopause and have some other issues which are all caused by anemia. The doctor was so rude and uncaring, so not understanding at all. I was in tears all the way home and I'm not that easy to bring to tears. Wow, all I can say is find another doctor and never ever go back. Doctors like this put people off getting health care and are detrimental to health. read more

5 stars Dr. Taaly Silberstein is honestly the best OB-GYN I've ever had. Her staff is so kind and welcoming -- they somehow manage to make even the most awkward appointments feel comfortable (and that's saying something!). I never feel rushed; Dr. Silberstein always takes her time, really listens, and answers all my questions -- even the random ones I found on Google at 2 a.m. What really sets her apart is how affordable her care is -- I don't have insurance, and her prices are incredibly reasonable, which is such a relief. On top of that, the parking is super easy (a small miracle in L.A.!), so every visit is low-stress from start to finish. It's rare to find a doctor who is both thorough, compassionate, and budget-friendly, but she checks all the boxes. I'm so grateful I found her. read more

This doctor does not follow updated medical guidelines. She performs unnecessary paps on teenagers with no medical reason to do so. All major medical organizations like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists changed guidelines in 2012 saying women under the age of 21 do not need a pap. This doctor alienates young women by performing this test far too early with no reason, or as she put it: "it's never a bad idea." Yes, actually it is a bad idea. read more

Dr. Silberstein has been taking care of me for 25 years. She listens, is compassionate, gentle, quick to handle any needs that I have and never judges. She has been with me through some tough times and held my hand through it all. Her office staff are also amazing.... I love Jill and Carla so much!!!! Thank you all for taking such excellent care of me throughout the years. read more

Doctor Silberstein literally saved my life. I am 20 years old and have been having really bad issues with bleeding. In the beginning of the year, I bled for four months straight and had two surgeries done by another doctor, which I believe made my bleeding worse and didn't fix anything. A literal month ago I went to see Dr. Silberstein and she performed surgery on me and took my whole fibroid out and now I am fibroid and blood free. I was going through severe depression and anxiety and so much pain during this time because I'm literally 20 and couldn't do anything. Everytime i seen her, she was so kind and attentive to whatever concerns I had. She is truly an angel and I pray she can deliver my babies one day. read more

I waited a long time to post. For many years, I really liked this office and Dr. but when I had an emergency, they chose not to provide care. I have been seeing Dr Silberstein since around 2016. I was only a patient who comes for my annual exam and occasional irregularities. My annual exam I believe was in May 2023. In November, 2023, I called because I was experiencing an issue and needed to get tested and a medication. Super run of the mill and urgent. This was my provider. The front desk told me I couldn't come in unless I paid an administrative fee. It was not cheap and would've been out of pocket (despite my already meeting my insurance out of pocket), yet I don't use any concierge services and pay for all my appointments. I'd never received a letter either, though they seemed to send to some, but regardless this was my provider and for the 2023 year, I should've been able to get emergency support there for a gynecological issue. Instead, I ended up at planned parenthood and another gynecologist. It took two weeks to fix what should've happened in a day had my doctor I'd seen for nearly a decade cared about my health. I understand the costs of practicing are high, but then you offer concierge or round the clock availability to those who want to pay and continue providing care during regular business hours at negotiated costs with healthcare companies to all others. It's not this difficult. I'm really disgusted to be honest. It makes me sad, too, but it has become quite clear that money matters more than patients. read more

I saw this provider because she was recommended by another provider. Not all recommendations are good ones. I only saw her for a Pap smear. I feel like she was very judgmental and rude. She rushed through my appointment. Recently I received a letter that she is charging her patients an annual $250 administrative fee and I just want to warn people because not only do you have insurance fees, co pays, deductibles, lab fees, now you also have to pay for Dr Silbersteins electronic prescription services and to write a doctors note, it's almost comical. It's very reasonable to charge a fee if you USE her services outside of business hrs but to charge all your patients this just screams privilege. If you only want to be accessible to a certain demographic just say that it will save you money on ink and time. read more

Taaly Silberstein, MD - Obstetricians & Gynecologists Near Me - Tarzana, California

Body shaming, judgmental attitude and more. I will never be returning - I hope this provider has read through the negative comments and truly takes them to heart to practice more compassionate, progressive medicine. If you're looking for a positive and pleasant experience, as well as a longterm relationship with you doctor that you feel good about, I would not recommend. read more

I hope Silberstein gets what she deserves in this upcoming "New Year." Godspeed. I doubt that she remembers when she wanted to perform a hysterectomy on me at the same time I was getting a lumpectomy. I distinctly recall her saying that she needed the money for her daughter's wedding. Unbelievable! My wonderful surgeon, Dr. Douglas Morrow was absolutely against doing the two surgeries at the same time due to the shock it would inflict on my body, both mentally and physically. Imagine - a respectable doctor and surgeon without a GOD Complex - what a concept! Did I get better care from James Danielzadeh? Absolutely not! I have been a victim of severe gaslighting and trauma by the terrible three, whom I believe are supposed to be medical doctors - Taaly Silberstein, James Danielzadeh, and Raymond Bailey. They have tried to shut me up with their cruel and unusual behavior. I now, however, feel more empowered than ever to speak up for myself so that this never happens to other women (although, I know, unfortunately, that it will). For further reading and information, I will post separately about James Danielzadeh (along with his haughty office staff) and Raymond Bailey. I implore all of you - especially if you are a woman, an individual of color, are highly sensitive and/or have anxiety, or are overweight (and unfortunately, the pool is growing) to be aware of Medical Gaslighting. If possible, bring a trustworthy friend with you to all appointments and take notes. Unfortunately, recording is illegal but gaslighting is okay? The American healthcare system is deeply flawed, to say the least. read more

I was referred by my primary doctor. At our initial sit down "get acquainted" in her office, she asked if I wanted to get vaginal tightening surgery. I had never given any indication of anything related to such a procedure and have no interest. I was shocked. Why would she suggest that unsolicited? I had been having some vaginal pain and was there for an annual exam and to get my pain diagnosed. After the exam, she said I was fine. I felt she had some slight disgust during the medical exam, which are always difficult for me and probably for many women. For months after that I kept having pain so went to see a specialist a UCLA. She immediately diagnosed me with two issues and gave me medication. The pain went away. I did not go back to Dr. Silberstein. read more

This woman humiliated me and made me feel awful about myself when I was young and naive... Told her I had breast implants (had a corrective surgery done) and she responded "I can tell" in an extremely passive aggressive tone I also opened up to her about having anal sex and she shamed me about that I thought doctors were supposed to be compassionate and caring but she was the complete opposite read more

Just when you thought you found a decent doctor, she sends you a letter in the mail telling you you need to pay $250 on top of your office co-pay and any lab fees for an "administrative fee". So now we need to pay extra just so your staff will do their job? As someone who has worked in doctor's offices, this is insane to me! Not one single thing on her list of reasons for charging extra was relevant to me. Not. A. Single. One. Taaly isn't in the OB/GYN profession to help women, she's in it to make a quick buck off of them. Oh, and if you're a part of the LGBTQ+ community, you should know her staff will discriminate and not award you and your partner the same treatment as a straight couple. Find another doctor. read more

Had an appointment with Dr. Silberstein a couple of weeks ago and she is the sweetest and most compassionate doctor I've ever had. She listened to all of my concerns, took her time during our consult and made me feel comfortable. The office staff - Carla and Jill were also super friendly- I felt like I'd known them for years. I will definitely recommend Dr. Silberstein to all my friends read more

Now that she's charging an extra $250 annually per patient, which is ridiculous, I cannot recommend her anymore. I go to her once a year for a check up and Pap smear that's it. My insurance pays the entire bill. And she dares to ask for an additional $250 annually from me. shameful. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about Dr Silberstein and her office staff! I had such an easy time getting appointments during my pregnancy. Yes they have a $250 yearly fee but most offices are doing this now AND it's usually higher. My delivery went very smooth with her and she was incredibly involved in all aspects of my recovery. We were referred to her by a friend and I have also referred a friend to her, who was also impressed. read more

I WISH THERE WAS A NEGATIVE STAR RATING, less than a one. My experience in two visits were: spread em', and pay me. If you want me to talk to you or explain anything that is an extra $200. I'm not exaggerating, she is hustling the insurance companies. RUN AWAY FAST - she is GOING to charge you an ADDITIONAL FEE of $200 just to EXPLAIN anything, including TEST RESULTS. She did this to me TWICE. A PHONE CALL that lasted less than 5 minutes. She NEVER called to give me my results! She had an office assistant call to say I need to have a BIOPSY (no explanation why) and when I wanted someone to explain to me what is going on she finally called me - spoke to me for 5 minutes and charged $200 for the conversation. She expects you to open you legs with no questions asked. If you have questions or want to make an informed it will cost you. I regret ever letting this woman touch me. Thank God, I had this experience twice before sending my teenage daughter to her. I thought the first time was a mishap, twice let's me know that it is her protocol - she will NOT get the opportunity to put my daughter on her money conveyor belt. RUN AWAY FROM THIS WOMAN. Oh and don't be fooled by the nice website EVERYTHING in the office is old and outdated. UPDATE: I called my insurance company and they confirmed that this is NOT ok and the first time she did it she was not paid because you can NOT charge for an office visit and service SEPARATELY when the patient is there for the service. She found the loop hole and the second time charged it on separate days. I called her office and spoke to Jill an office assistant and shared with her they have the option to fix this or be reported and with hesitation she "report it". read more

I made an appointment to see this doctor awhile ago, because of a good recommendation. They took my insurance info over the phone, which was Medicare and LA Care. When I arrived at the office and gave the staff my insurance cards, the 1st women exclaimed that's medi-medi.. we won't take this insurance. I protested ... then why did you make the appointment. The women I was directed to speak to next, insinuated that it was my fault - that I had given my insurance incorrectly on the phone. She blamed me right away. When I said I would pay cash for my co-pay, she insinuated that I couldn't afford it because I had medi-medi. They kept referring to medi - medi in a condescending way. What a load of bullshit. Such judgemental and shaming behavior. I left in tears. Looking at it tonight, I believe the doctor knows very well how her front staff gets rid of patients who don't have big $$$. And for this reason I do not recommend this doctor to anyone. read more

This is a review for the doctor. The staff is lovely, kind and good at their jobs. I was a patient of Dr. Silberstein's for 2.5 years and I should have listened to my gut after our first meeting when she scoffed at how seriously I was taking Covid (this was back in 2020). But, alas, she took my insurance and was close to my house so I figured I could handle her once a year. She is fine clinically but gynecology is a field in which bedside manner is incredibly important. Women are at their most vulnerable while in a gynecological office and need someone to actually listen and care. This is something she lacks. She is harsh in her words, her tone is dismissive and her attitude is highly judgmental and steeped in misogyny. She seems completely unevolved in her approach to discussing mental health, weight gain/loss and does not seem to consider the patient when making seemingly blanket statements about these topics. She does not seem to even consider that her words have impact and can cause incredible harm to the patients she so quickly shuffles out her door. She also has Botox and fat melting pamphlets all over her office as well as on the television in her waiting room, if that tells you anything about her regard for the overall emotional health of her patients. There are so many kind progressive practitioners out there who will treat you as an individual and a whole person. No need to roll the dice and waste your time with this doctor. read more

Doctor was referred to me. First & only visit, waited like another person, about an hour past my scheduled time to be seen. Doctor referred me for an ultrasound & mammogram. Hospital never sent the doctor my results for the ultrasound, and I looked into it. The doctor returned my call to discuss the results as I was walking into an oral surgeons office for surgery. I Called back 2 days later to discuss the results with the doctor. I was informed I had to come in for a consult, although it sure seemed the doctor was going to discuss things when she called 2 days earlier. First time she could see me was the first day of the next month...but I had been laid off. COBRA was close to $900 a month, so I opted to use Kaiser. The front desk showed ABSOLUTELY no compassion towards my loss of insurance, and did NOTHING to get me in ONE DAY EARLIER so I had insurance. So much for compassion. read more

I used this gynecologist for many years. Now I just received a letter in the mail from her office saying they are going to charge a $250 administrative fee per year starting May 1, 2023 to cover the various services she offers that are not covered by insurance. This is ridiculous! I don't use all the services she offers. Why should I fork over $250 per year for services I don't use? Save your money and don't go to this gynecologist! read more

Dr. Silberstein came highly recommended and having been with her and her staff since the second trimester of my high-risk pregnancy it's easy to understand why. She is very knowledgeable and gets straight to the point with concerns that need to be acknowledged while welcoming questions and offering explanations to help put anxious emotions at rest. Her staff...really, I can't say how wonderful they all are. So very kind and supportive with every visit, they have made me feel more like a friend or family member and not just a patient. I am so grateful to have come across this practice and now have a beautiful baby girl that came into the world with their help. read more

I was referred by my primary doctor to this incompetent doctor and now he knows not to refer anymore. I am in my sixties and never have I experienced being pinched when getting a Pap smear. This doc is careless, I've had better experiences from a physician assistant. She is disconnected when I told her about previous health crisis I had through surgeries she was uninterested. Plus, I had to endure the nasty face and rudeness of the receptionist. She acts like she hates her job. To make things worse they HIDE the $250 CHARGE in a stack of papers to fill out. They don't tell you about it but after your appointment is done they tell you if you ever want to come back you agreed to pay the $250 by signing it. Well when you go into an office you just want to get through all the paperwork so l was shocked, and asked why don't you highlight or at least underline the $250? No answer. Seems that this yearly fee should be illegal. I pay a high monthly for my PPO INS and don't expect to pay more. read more

Be aware that this doctor requires an open-ended financial commitment from you, because she requires you to sign an agreement to pay all charges--and those charges are not disclosed up front. I have high-deductible health insurance and other financial responsibilities, but the doctor insisted on multiple tests and procedures, just for an exam. I don't know if she lacks empathy or is just greedy. read more

Based on a recommendation from my primary doctor, I saw Dr. Silberstein for an exam this year. My exam was routine. The one thing that stood out was the literature in her office for body fat melting procedure. I did find that strange for a Gynecologist to offer body-enhancing services. 6 months after my exam, I was rushed to the emergency room. They discovered that I had a huge mass around my ovaries. The ER Doctor contacted Dr. Silberstein to let her know status. Based on the size of the mass, the ER doctor wanted to admit me to the hospital that day. Dr. Silberstein told the Doctor not to admit me and that I should instead contact a particular oncologist for an appointment the following week. I called the oncologist and found out he was booked for an entire month. I then called Dr. Silberstein's office and was informed that she was not available and would not be able to call me back for a few days. I explained how urgent the situation was and was offered no help by her staff. (I ended up finding an excellent oncologist - who operated on me. I am currently going through chemo for stage 3 ovarian cancer.) Dr. Silberstein nor anyone from her office ever called me. Unprofessional, uncaring. Would never recommend this doctor. read more

It has taken me two years to write this review. I am in the Medical field myself and do Prenatal care and Births. How could I fall for this? An Obstetrician Gynecologist with fat melting machine therapy. It's like a brain surgeon having a video game for pay in his office. I saw Dr. Silberstein a couple of years ago. I was referred to her by a friend for a Fat Melting procedure. I cannot believe that I was taken by this crockery!! Dr. Silberstein never came into the room. Her staff was indifferent. The procedure was severly painful; when it was done I had nothing to show for it other than bumps all over my lower abdomen and $2,000 less in my bank account. I think that I deserve a refund. read more

While we never had the opportunity to meet the doctor, the office staff provided one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever had. As a new patient referred by Blue Cross/Blue Shield, I was put on hold seven times spanning 34 minutes and was treated rudely by two of the staff that answered the phone. I would suggest avoiding this office until they either train their staff to be professional or hire new help. Given this doctor's excellent reputation, it surprises me that she would have such incompetent, unprofessional people in her employ. Steve Sherline read more

It has taken me 7 years to write this review. I was a patient for a long time. I got pregnant for the first time in July of 2013 at age 42 (a high risk OB was never suggested). We went in for our 8 week check up, saw a strong heartbeat, was given a flu shot and sent to have bloodwork drawn. I called for my results and was told everything was fine. 4 1/2 weeks later I started spotting (I had no spotting for any of my pregnancy). I called the office and had a hard time getting Dr. Silberstein to return my calls. When she did, she told me not to worry about it. I insisted on coming in the next day, which is when I found out there was no heartbeat. She told me she couldn't fit me in for a D&C until a week and a half later. She told me a miscarriage would only be minor cramping. I began having a natural miscarriage that night and it was brutal. It took over 8 weeks, 3 separate nights of contractions. When I would call with questions, no one would call me back for days. Flash forward 4 months, I went to a new OB who asked me about my EXTREMELY HIGH GLUCOSE at my 8 week bloodwork. I informed her I knew nothing about it, I was assured it was fine. This new doctor sent me to an Endocrinologist to check my glucose. Everything was fine, I'm assuming I had gestational diabetes. Flash forward to June 2014 when Dr. Silberstein's billing office called for the final money ( I was making payments on from the miscarriage ) and CONGRATULATED ME ON THE BABY I MUST HAVE HAD ALREADY. When I called them back, their attitude was "oh well," no apology, and they were rude to me. I am finally brave enough to tell my story. It took a long time. read more

God-awful experience. I was trying to conceive and scheduled a new patient visit. I accepted the first available appointment, which was in 5 weeks. When the day for my appointment finally came, I drove for 30 minutes only to arrive at the office and find out my appointment was cancelled because the doctor had a headache. We rescheduled for a week later. THEN I took a home pregnancy test and got a positive result. I called the office to see if I could get in sooner to confirm my pregnancy and the office staff said the doctor would not see me until I was 7-8 weeks pregnant. I said I wanted to confirm my pregnancy and she said that the home test was accurate. I asked to talk to a nurse and she would not let me because I am not a patient. I have tried very hard to be a patient, including driving to the office for my appointment which they cancelled at the last minute, and now they won't see me for 2 months. Definitely going elsewhere, but now it will take me weeks to get in somewhere else as a new patient. Pathetic. read more

My wife just delivered our baby two days ago and man was Dr. Silberstein great!!! For most of my wife's pregnancy we where with another doctor in Tarzana - she was a great medical doctor but basically it was her way or the highway. My wife and I did hypnobirthing, and our instructor suggested we change to Dr. Silberstein. We are SOO glad we did! Dr. Silberstein's great qualities: Very friendly Sincere Fine with medical procedures and labor augmentation but also fine with those who want completely natural delivery (like us) Has 4 children so she knows how labor goes EXCELLENT Medical Doctor. Anyway, my wife walked in to Dr. Silberstein's office fully dilated, as she thought she was just having SEVERE back pain and spasms -- turned out it was labor. Dr. Silberstein promptly notified the hospital, and personally escorted my wife and I across the street and into the hospital delivery room. She stayed with my wife the entire time from that point until our daughter was born. She allowed me to do my best coaching, but also helped with a lot of the coaching herself! I think my wife hearing things from a woman with experience and a medical degree helped her a lot. Perhaps this is why it took just over an hour and a half to deliver the baby! We really appreciate the fact that Dr. Silberstein did not at all insist on an IV or episiotomy!!! Instead, she allowed me to give my wife water and juice between pushes to stay hydrated and constantly massaged my wife's perineum in between pushes rather than going for the episiotomy. Dr. Silberstein even assisted my wife in grabbing the baby as she was finishing her way out of the birth canal. This way my wife could essentially "deliver" the baby the officially. Thank you, Dr. Silberstein for all that you did!! Sincerely, (The patient you so graciously accepted in the last two weeks of pregnancy, and husband and new born baby daughter :) read more
