Dr Kalouyan is an amazing & caring doctor who spent a lot of time with me on May 4. However the people who work for her are incompetent. I have been waiting for over a month now for a medication that was recommended to me from her. First they send the wrong prescription to 2 pharmacies, then I am informed by email from a person named Eleen, that on May 27 the doctor had submitted a new prescription for the correct medication to a Link pharmacy. Then on June 2 I received another email from Eleen that she had submitted a prior authorization to a Regency pharmacy for the new medication, & she would follow up with me ! I contacted both pharmacys , they had not received anything new from Dr Kalouyan's office except the original prescription from a month ago ! ! ! The first time I went to Dr. Kalouyan's office as a new patient, she made me wait 2 hours in my gown in the examination room, the second time I went to the Nurse practitioner and she made me wait 1 hour and when I spoke to the front desk about it, the receptions told me it was normal to wait with this Doctor, the front desk hardly ever answers the phones, also they billed me $250.00 for the nurse practitioner who was in and out in exactly 10 minutes, failed to tell me the she was out of Network and decided to bill me on her name, not the doctor's office, so if you decide to see this doctor, just know that you will have a long wait and not get thru to them on the phone, I personally will never go to this office again and they never call with test results.. read more

Dr. Kalouyan and her staff were wonderful at removing my fibroid tumors and we had prepared for months for this surgery. The reason I'm giving only 2 stars is because once the medication was put in my iv to go under anesthesia Dr. Kalouyan and her staff asked if they could remove my uterus as well because they stated my fallopian tubes were blocked and that I wouldn't be able to have children because of this anyway and that the fibroids could possibly return leading me to have to undergo this surgery again. I don't feel it's right that I was told this right as I'm about to go under anesthesia this should've been told to me the months prior as we prepared for the surgery, before they put meds in my iv, but thankfully even with the medication in my system I declined and said no because it felt shady that they were telling me this after the fact right before they were about to cut me open and I was in my 20's at the time and had no children and had always wanted to be a Mom. The guy who I was dating at the time was so supportive and he took care of me after my surgery even though we were only 2 months into dating, him and I met in middle school, fast forward to 6 months after having that surgery of having my fibroids removed I began throwing up over 26 times and thought I had food poisoning because since Dr. Kalouyan and her staff had told my fallopian tubes were blocked I thought I couldn't have children but I went to the ER only to find out I was 10 weeks pregnant. I'm thankful I had my fibroids removed, but beware when a doctor tells you your fallopian tubes are blocked and that they want to remove your uterus because had I let Dr. Kalouyan and her staff remove my uterus that day I would not be a Mother now. read more

Dr. Kalouyan's great but her staff is difficult to get a hold of and they bill you before you can see her. I was billed $90 for a coinsurance fee for an annual physical. I was told I'd be refunded as soon as my claim goes through. I called and left numerous voicemails with no response whatsoever. Do I have likely to just dispute my charge with my bank?Anyway she's definitely a nice doctor to work with but i would not come back if I have to deal with her billing staff again. UPDATE: I got a response from the business manager Annette. She was screaming at me the entire time saying I'm not understanding when in fact she doesn't have the updated bill in front of her. She was super demeaning and rude. She said she'll call me back when she looked over the bill, she never did. and When I asked to speak to her supervisor for the way she was SCREAMING AT ME she said Maribel will call me back and predictably she did not. Funnily she told me that they should have charged me more even though I don't owe them anything. Please beware of this office!!! When I first saw Dr. Kalouyan, I was so excited to tell my husband that I'd found the right doctor as we begin family planning. Because of this, I'm disappointed to have lost trust in her and the office since. On 10/28/24 I had a mammogram and ultrasound at UCLA West Hills, which was ordered by Dr. Kalouyan. The radiologist found a mass on the ultrasound, which is particularly concerning given a strong family history of breast cancer. The UCLA office kindly rushed a biopsy because we're currently TTC with the help of a fertility doctor. They told me the results would be ready within approximately 24-72 business hours. It's now been two full weeks since the biopsy, and it feels like Dr. Kalouyan's office has effectively ghosted me. I'm sure folks can understand that waiting for the results of (what is also my first) biopsy in this context is stressful. - Wednesday, 11/6 I left a voicemail for Dr. Kalouyan's assistant, Taylor. No call back. - Thursday, 11/7 I spoke with the receptionist who confirmed the results from UCLA had been received (along with other bloodwork that I'm still waiting for weeks to get the results of), and assured me I would get a call that day. No response or call back. - Tuesday, 11/12 I sent an email to Dr. Kalouyan. No response. - Wednesday, 11/13, I sent a follow-up email to Dr. Kalouyan + left another voicemail for Taylor. No response or call back. Despite ample time to deliver my results, I've missed my fertility window this month, have no idea when I'll be contacted, and any time I call the office I get a phone tree to various voicemail boxes. Patients deserve timely delivery of test results, especially when we are in the thick of the family planning process. I implore the office to keep this in mind in the future, and hope that my results are delivered soon. -- Update that I did hear back from the office after leaving this review, not from Dr. Kalouyan but from Taylor who sent me my results. When I asked what they meant she said she didn't know since she isn't a doctor, so I was left to Google them myself. What an awful experience. read more

YOU ARE IN GREAT HANDS WITH DR. Kalouyan! I couldn't have asked for a better OBGYN. I had a few complication with my pregnancy and she was always on top of it. She was always sending my to Dr. Jadoulee to get second opinions on her decisions (he specializes in high risk pregnancies). She also tried really hard to give me a natural birth but when she choose to give me an emergency c-section it was definitely the right one cause my baby was face down instead of face up. She even apologized that she couldn't give me an natural birth and after 24 hrs in labour I just wanted to see my baby out in the world and healthy. She is very informative and gives her opinion but will do whatever you think is best for your baby. And she really cares and is personable. Can't wait for #2 with her!! This was back in 2018. Dr. Marlene Kalouyan was the doctor on call when the medication I was taking didn't seem to be helping (this was at no fault of the other doctor who had prescribed it to me, it was solely an issue I was having). Anyway, long after hours I had called and left a message - it was almost midnight the night before Thanksgiving. I thought to myself there is no way anyone is going to get back to me at this hour and especially right before a holiday! But how surprisingly wrong I was! Who likes going to the gynecologist? I haven't met anyone as of yet who says they do. With that being, we all know we have to have a regular gynecologist to take care of all our feminine needs. Well let me tell you Dr Kaloyan is that Dr. She has the most amazing heart. She genuinely cares about each and every one of her patients. She takes her time to answer all your questions and easies your concerns while educating you on what's really going on with you medically. Her M.E. Is a sweetheart as well. Update: this office is extremely neglectful. I still don't have my records provided to me after TWO MONTHS! Nobody has called me about the prescriptions either. I have made many calls to get this sorted. Dr. Kalouyan and her office staff are neglectful and irresponsible. I'm shocked by her high reviews. Perhaps her apparent kindness has fooled some people into thinking this is good medical care/service. Original: I am disappointed in both the office staff and Dr. Kalouyan. Dr. Kalouyan is nice and pleasant. But, aside from being an hour and 15 minutes late to my appointment (which I don't actually mind if I'm waiting for a truly good doctor), she hadn't read any of my medical records. She did spend time with me, but that's partly because she didn't read my records and because I was a new patient. She said she'd put in two prescriptions for me, but more than two weeks later, she still hasn't.... She said I should start a hormonal medication, and when I asked about side effects, she only said it will make me warm. That sounded like a euphemism for hot flashes. Through my later research, I found out that the hormonal treatment likely produces a state of menopause or similar to menopause. She should have told me that and should have told me what the other potential risks of that medication are. I also asked her if that hormonal medication will cause irregularities in my periods. She initially said no but then thought a little and said yes. She also said she'd prescribe Sprix. Although I told her I avoid NSAIDs because of gut issues, she said Sprix doesn't cause gut problems. But Sprix's website says all NSAIDs, including Sprix, do harm the gut. She said that endometriosis doesn't cause infertility and can be stopped by having a baby. She also said that having periods that are anywhere from 21-40 days apart is normal, even if the menstrual cycle changes from 28 to 34 to 25 to 31 etc. days apart, that's normal. I'd like to believe everything she said, but I have doubts. Again, Dr. Kalouyan seems very nice and pleasant, so I don't want to leave a less-than-good review, but I'm just stating the truth as I experienced it. Note that trying to talk to someone at the office is difficult. You'll invariably be sent to voicemail. I spent days calling just to try to email my medical records and get confirmation that they were received and accessed. Now that I'm trying to get my visit notes from my one appointment with Dr. Kalouyan, it's once again a phone tag game. Women's Health Specialists of West Hills needs more staff. Note that the suite address online and on their makeshift signage in the building are wrong. Dr. Kalouyan has changed suites and I had to bounce between suites to try to find her office. read more

Her office called me the day before my appointment to tell me that she no longer takes Medicare. She's taken my Medicare & supplement for the last 4 years. I asked for a phone appointment. I got 4 notifications that I had a phone appointment with her. SHE never called me. I texted her twice & she didn't respond. I just wanted to know how I could see her & if at my age I still needed yearly paps. Turns out she's one of those doctors who is only in it for the money. Not for the patients. What a shame. I saw Dr. Kalouyan once only; she was very detailed and explained everything. BUT i wont be going back to that office because first it is impossible to get in touch with the staff. Their system apparently is set up in a way that you always have to leave them a voicemail and they will call you back within 2 hours hopefully. If you are scheduled to have a surgery done and have an immediate question, you wont be able to get in touch with anyone. Second to release your own medical records to you they charge you $30. This is the first Dr.'s office that does that. They are all about money than patient care unfortunately. My visit with Dr. Kalouyan was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences at a gynecologist I've ever had. These type of appointments always tend to make me a little nervous, but discussing my issues with her felt more like chatting with a kind and trusted friend. She instantly put me at ease with her caring bedside manner and it was so wonderful to finally have a doctor who didn't rush the appointment or brush off concerns. She provided many different solutions and went over each one in clear detail so I knew the pros and cons beforehand. Dr. Kalouyan is very nice, but unfortunately her office staff leaves much to be desired. I recently scheduled what I thought was a well woman exam and on the phone the receptionist asked "do you have any other concerns you need to discuss with the doctor?" Being that I was already going to see an OBGYN and my husband and I have been talking about starting a family in the next few years I told the receptionist that I wouldn't mind asking her a few pregnancy questions while I was there. The appointment went well, I basically asked what type of multivitamin she recommended and got a Pap smear. Seems like your pretty standard Well Woman. The confusing part came when I got charged for a specialist visit even though I had yet to go in to see her this year. Ok, whatever, maybe insurance doesn't cover a Well Woman anymore. I get home, call insurance, and they tell me they DO cover a Well Woman. So I call the office back and let them know there was a mistake with billing. They tell me that in the notes it says I wanted to discuss family planning. Well yeah, that's one of the only things you discuss at the Gyno. I never got overcharged when I asked for birth control. I try to reason with her (Mirabella, by the way) and she tells me that's not covered by insurance. Seriously? Why ask me if there's anything else I need to discuss with the doctor on the phone then? Am I not allowed to ask about my vagina either? Does that count as "womanly discussions" and you'll upcharge me for that too? I guess I'm expected to just sit in silence. Honestly, I was deciding whether or not to use Dr. Kalouyan through any future pregnancies, so this really helped me out. Dr Kalouyan is fabulous: knowledgeable, personable, empathetic, fun, hard working, and just a great person. She is one of my favorite doctors! It's impossible not to connect with her, she is so kind and caring. She is kind of addictive, you miss her after not having seen her for a while. I think they have been having a problem with their phone system: when you call, it takes you straight to VM. I reported that problem to them and they acknowledged it. If you cannot get through to them, try pressing other options when calling, don't rely on just one option. Note that their lunch break is between 12 and 2pm. read more

Dr Kalouyan delivered my son on 4/08/2017 by c-section; while in the operating room, she was calm and collected while ensuring us everything is going well.
