Pros: Large spacious interior with plenty of seating Good parking out front Service was quick and efficient Prices reasonable Soft, doughy bagels Bagel sticks too and lots of schmears and toppings Cons: Needs a revive inside to give it Marx own flair Need more bagel offerings; I see lots on their menu, but not too many were made Need more offerings in the fridge area Pro tip: I think they are getting started, but they will get there. Go out and support these guys!

LOX set up: Everything bagel, salty capers, not pressed into the cheese, unfortunately, they came on the side

#CallTheRabbi !!!!! BLOCKS BAGELS: MAIN ST COLUMBUS OHIO #blocksbagels is now #MARX The good the bad and the ugly... THE GOOD: they're open! They still have cream sodas to eat with your lox bagel every time ; that's what I do! THE BAD: they went full-on #OrthodoxKosherKitchen And do not believe in having meat and dairy in the same kitchen. Doubtful that it is ever gonna change. So they've done away with almost all the MEATS. (((((if you're full on orthodox, why are you #openonShabbat Friday night and Saturday? Isn't that #Hypocritical ?)))) THE UGLY: No more Rubens. No more pastrami sandwiches. No more anything with meats. No more chicken salad. But they do have potato salad and tuna salad No more meats; business traffic is dead at noon on a Thursday when there's pretty much normally a line of 20 people always waiting in line and there was no line at all when I arrived and nobody else in the building...Except for the 2 employees... down from the typical five minimum Hal kept around. But they stil got LOX!!!! And that's why I will continue to support them Ambience looks exactly the same. They did take out a roller with some black paint on the walls to make it look a little bit different. Owner is probably a rehab and knows the secret a little bit of paint goes a long way. They did move and create a coffee station from behind the employees who were always trying to do five things at the same time and put it over to the left of the counter when you come in so you can do refills and get coffee at leisure. Great move guys. If you're gonna be an anal about the kosher thing, and follow the 613 laws, then you gotta not make people work on Shabbat you can't have it both ways

Employees didn't greet me for a full 30 minutes. They didn't seem short staffed as much as they just didn't care. Everything was done very slowly to the point I think it must be deliberate. There doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency at all for a morning rush. They either need to train employees better, or offer a better pay so they could get better employees. But the employee who finally came up to greet me was the only one who seemed to actually wanted to be there. He was very nice and welcoming. The cream cheese was amazing. Bagel was mediocre

Pretty good bagels. I'd say less cream cheese and it would be nice to have a toasted bagel, which I'm sure I could've asked for, but definitely will next time. Service was swift and it felt like a normal bagel shop inside.

That was a different experience. The positives are many, crisp digital menu boards, Multiple modern registers, bright lighting, clean polished surfaces, the solarium being back open, crisp bagels loaded with cream cheese. There is a lot of promise and potential here. There are also opportunities. I knew I had cause for concern when the register refused to ring up the iced Americano. I was then asked to verify the temperature, size and beverage selection multiple times by the four employees felt required to make an Americano (one to get the cup, one to get the ice, another to brew the coffee component, still another to take the cup out to the soda fountain to fill it with cold water). My best description of the abominable cup of beverage resulting in all of these efforts is atrocious. A bagel shop not a coffee shop that still needs to get their processes down is the general take away and also they are currently credit card only.

The thermostat said 95 degrees! It's 91 degrees outside at the time I'm posting this.

Very austere. Also chocolate milk was out of date. Not impressed except for bagel. Cooler half empty of drinks. This is a Saturday at 11:15

Superb sandwiches and solid sides. Yep, that's the menu. But that's all they need!…read more Of the sides, the soft pretzels and pimento cheese were worth it - a perfect pairing. I would get them again. The dill pickle potato salad was okay. But let's get to these sandwiches. Meaty, juicy goodness. The sandwich that I got was a special called the King of the Rodeo. Meatloaf, bacon, white cheddar, BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions and ranch on sourdough. OMG! Put this on your regular menu, Newfangled! My wife got the Joe Brrr, essentially a Turkey Reuben. Completely different from my sandwich but very good. No wonder everyone gives this place 5 stars.

This Sandwich Brought the Heat: My Visit to Newfangled Kitchen…read more Some meals leave you full. Others leave you talking. And then there's the Lucifer's Hammer sandwich from Newfangled Kitchen in Bexley, Ohio--which left me sweating, smiling, and seriously considering a second round. I'd heard whispers about Newfangled Kitchen for a while. It's one of those word-of-mouth places--no gimmicks, no over-the-top Instagram vibes, just damn good sandwiches built with love (and a little madness). So when I finally found myself near Bexley, I knew I had to stop in. The moment you walk in, you get a sense of what this place is all about. The decor is no-frills but full of personality--warm wood tones, clever sandwich names chalked up on the wall, and a retro, diner-meets-neighborhood-joint kind of charm. It's small inside--cozy, really--with a few tables to snag if you're lucky. But if the weather's nice, the real move is to take your order out to one of the picnic tables just outside. There's something about spicy meatloaf and sunshine that just works. Now, about that sandwich. Lucifer's Hammer. Even the name dares you to underestimate it. We're talking a thick slab of meatloaf--juicy, savory, slightly crisp around the edges--stacked with fiery jalapeños, melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and smothered in their housemade diablo sauce. All that gets hugged by a soft, toasted bun. One bite in, and it's clear this isn't just a sandwich. It's a full-on assault (in the best way) on your tastebuds. The meatloaf is the real MVP here--comfort food leveled up. It's hearty, flavorful, and holds its own under the weight of the spice. The jalapeños bring the fire, but it's the diablo sauce that steals the show. Creamy, smoky, spicy--it lingers long after the last bite like a good movie scene you replay in your head. But Newfangled doesn't stop at one knockout. They've got a whole lineup of meatloaf-based magic. There's the "Newfangled"--their namesake sandwich, topped with bacon, cheddar, and a tangy barbecue aioli that brings the sweet-and-savory energy. Or the "Phil's Delight," which throws in fried onions and horseradish mayo for a punchier, richer flavor profile. If you want something a little less volcanic than Lucifer's Hammer but still packed with character, "The Fancy Pants" is a solid move--Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, and just enough zip to keep things interesting. And don't sleep on the sides. The mac & cheese is creamy and golden--exactly what you want riding shotgun next to your sandwich. The tater tots are crispy and nostalgic in the best way. And yes, they've got hand-cut fries too--salty, satisfying, and perfect for dipping into any sauce you "accidentally" save from your sandwich. Need something sweet to cool things down after Lucifer scorches your tastebuds? Enter the dessert menu. On my visit, there was a rotating selection of housemade brownies and cookies, and they were everything you hope they'd be--gooey, chocolatey, just-right indulgence that ties the meal together like a great movie ending. Newfangled Kitchen knows what it is: a sandwich shop with soul. No frills. No filler. Just really good food done really well. It's the kind of place where you feel like a regular even on your first visit, where the staff greets you with a smile and a knowing nod when you point to the hotter options on the board. If you ever find yourself anywhere near Bexley, do yourself a favor: stop in. Order the Lucifer's Hammer if you dare, but whatever you choose, bring your appetite. Grab a picnic table if the weather's kind, and take your time with it. Because sometimes, it's not just about the destination--or even the sandwich. Sometimes, you've just gotta take the trip.

Now on to the star of the show which was the Greens. They had a slight bite to them, so tasty with a bit of pork thrown in for extra goodness. This is the type of small business we have to support. All of the items on the menu looked appealing to me, but the menu needs work. It has items on it without any description of the items. For example, my turkey sub had banana peppers on them. I like banana peppers, but I know a lot of people who don't and can see that being an issue. I ordered online through the business DoorDash partnership, which created a cold interaction with the person working there. He kept telling me to show him that I accepted the order on DoorDash, and asked if it was my first day since I couldn't find the button. I then told him that I ordered the food for myself and his demeanor changed completely and was extremely nice and gave me the order. I have heard of DoorDash people scamming businesses so I understand his caution, but it could have been handled better. It would probably be best if he just asked if it's a carry-out or a DoorDash order. The inside is essentially just a giant kitchen and counter, so carry-out is also the only option. I ordered a turkey sub, coney, and a side of coleslaw. The order was completed in 9 minutes, so keep that in mind if you have a far drive. The food was very good. Probably one of the best conies I have had. It was all very warm and flavorful and had the right balance of everything. If I'm in the area I'd like to try more of their menu.

First time my wife and daughter stopped before our daughter headed overseas for two years in the Peace Corps. Scotty''s is super close and convenient to the airport. Scotty learned of the imminent departure and came with cookies and treats for the long flight! And now this morning it was another airport drop off. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that. Seriously, I can declare victory for finding something I'd never had before. Never would have found it without the nudge. Had to cut myself off with all the coffee offers. Just a great vibe. You rarely see a 4.9 rating and even more rarely that high based on so many reviews. But I understand why - like in so many things in life, it is about the people. And the joy they bring to every conversation.
