Had a cake from here today and it was good. I had a few decadent bites of the red velvet, white or yellow cake and the chocolate sheet cake. The wedding cake was for videos and pictures too. If you get a wedding cake from here, they will give you a free wedding topper for your 1 year anniversary, nice. The red velvet crumbled and was quite dry and not so good. No one at our table liked their red velvet, it was a fail. The chocolate cake was the better bites of the 3. The top of the first layer was a pudding. It was moist and tasty. The white cake was also good, not dry at all.

I've only been here once. I need to come back. I love it. So many places in this area give me little reminders of "back in the day". First off, their brownies! I used to get brownies like theirs at a bakery in Madison Heights that was owned by a Polish woman and her son. They were my FAVORITE. I never thought I'd find brownies like those again and I did! I got one with peanut butter topping and yum! I also got a coffe cake which was really good! Crumbly and moist. What I liked is that they also had a deli. I hate getting deli meat at the grocery store because it takes forever. It was not too busy here. There was a staff working the deli and another working the bakery. I really had to stop myself from buying too much. This place is a gem and needs to be supported!

Great little Bakery! They did an amazing job on my son's 1st birthday cake. It looked and tasted great!

    Raspberry Lace cake!

Thank you Marv's for making a delicious and beautiful looking cake for my Mom's 80th Birthday! It was the raspberry lace and everyone loved it and wanted 2nds! And the cherry danishes I bought for this mornings coffee are the bomb!

I sent a nice airplane photo and this is the botched finished product.

Amazing food. The men behind the butcher counter are very friendly, immediate service. Atmosphere of an old fashion butchery.

Older woman behind the counter at bakery is rude every single time, the donuts aren't worth putting me in a piss poor mood every time.

Friendly people and their cakes are beautiful and delicious. They also make the best Paczkis I've ever tasted.

Does Marv's bake paczki's for Fat Tuesdays?

Yes. Only on Fat Tuesday, though. Not before or after. I'd place an order beforehand!

They have a lot of house made items in the meat case, I can't get enough of the blueberry breakfast sausage.

The Reserve Steakhouse - Lapostolle wine, stellar

    The Reserve Steakhouse

This review is very close to a five star one for me, but there is one aspect that makes it four…read morestars. My husband and I went here today for the first time, to celebrate my birthday, which was a few weeks ago. Our waiter was Mark, and he was very good and attentive. I started with their Strawberry Fields cocktail, one of the seasonal ones, and my husband had the Old Fashioned - we enjoyed both. For our appetizer, we ordered the beef tallow candle... I had had a similar appetizer at Frame in Oak Park a while back, which has now closed, and it was good. I didn't like this one quite as much, but it was still good, and also came with some butter. I had the 8 ounce petite filet and unfortunately this is where I was disappointed - which is especially disappointing because this place is a steakhouse. I thought it was nice and tender, but didn't have much taste. The zip sauce provided with it was very good with it, but I always say that the mark of a good steak is if it doesn't need any sauces to go with it. My husband got the 16 ounce New York strip, and I felt the same way about that steak as well. That being said, we got the Potatoes Romanoff and the Brussels sprouts for our sides and those were both excellent. I would order both again, but the rest of their sides also looked good so I would maybe try something else. The Reserve also excels at customer service. They gave me a really nice candle as a birthday gift, and a card signed by the staff. They also brought out a rather large birthday sundae on the house, with fruit in it, and I was impressed by both of these things... I have never been to a restaurant where they give you a full-size candle for your birthday, as well as dessert! Because of this, I didn't get to see the full dessert menu, but the guests at the table next to us were eyeing the crème brûlée, it seemed. Based on this experience, I would come back here, but I would maybe get different steak or an accompaniment for it - they had seasoned butter add-ons and others, too. Overall, however, it was a very nice night out.

@thefoodie.99 Review - (3/5)…read more We finally made it to The Reserve Steakhouse in downtown Brighton -- a spot that's been on our must-try list for months. Beautiful space, great reputation, and the perfect setting for our long-overdue date night. We booked a reservation online, walked in, and were greeted warmly by the hostess. It was a slow night -- maybe a dozen guests total -- but oddly, we were seated right next to a very loud group of ten. Think "bar crowd energy" in an upscale steakhouse. They were having the time of their lives... just not the kind of vibe you want when you're out for a quiet dinner. Unfortunately, they didn't leave until about 20 minutes before we did, so conversation was basically a shouting match. Now, onto the food -- the part that did shine. Our server Jennifer was friendly but felt a bit ready to wrap up for the night. We started with a glass of Prosecco and hot tea for my wife. The Lobster Cargo stole the show -- buttery, garlicky, and rich, with tender lobster and crisp toast. A must-order appetizer. The Rainbow Carrots with goat cheese fondue and pistachios were flavorful, though they took 15 minutes to arrive after our first course, which felt odd given the simplicity of the dish. For mains, the Roasted Half Chicken was near perfection -- crispy skin, a rich mushroom cream sauce, and easily one of the best chicken dishes we've had (and we've eaten our way around the country). The Maple-Glazed Salmon was another win, with delicate squash, caramelized onion hash, and a Dijon sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The Potatoes Romanoof were the only real food miss -- too heavy on the cheese, too light on the potatoes. We were hoping for more of a smooth potato purée, but it leaned more cheesy casserole. Overall: Great food, lovely location, and an impressive wine and knife club program, but the lack of awareness in seating and atmosphere management really dampened the experience. With a little more attention to guest placement and energy in the room, this could easily be a five-star spot. Would we go back? Yes -- but next time, we'll definitely request a quieter table. My mind is blown! I've been to Aldi in Redford and Ferndale but it's been a while. This one was…read morereally nice. For those who aren't in the know, the reason prices are so inexpensive here is because they lower their overhead as much as possible. What this means for you... If you plan on using a cart, bring a quarter (yes, I mean 25 cents) to unlock the cart. Don't worry you'll get it back unless you're too lazy to walk it back inside. This will make more sense when you see it in person. You'll also want to bring your own carrying utensil since they don't provide bags. They also won't bag your groceries but they will put them in the cart for you. You might wait in line for a short time but the cashiers are the fastest in the business. The line moves like crap through a goose! As far as their merchandise, what are you looking for? They have pretty much anything you'd need. Nuts, chips, meat, eggs, cheese, Red Bull (although theirs is called Red Summit and tastes EXACTLY the same). They have La Croix and some other name brands but shopping their brands will only save you money and it's all the same stuff as the name brand without the well known brand name. Their packaging is almost exactly the same too. In fact if you don't pay attention you'll think you're buying your normal brand name item. Also, their beer is fantastic! I've had their brand of Grolsch (I forget the name) and their Kinroo Belgian Ale (their Blue Moon Belgian). They were both equally as good as the name brand if not better and $7 for a six pack. I was impressed. They also carry Bell's and a pretty big selection of wine which I have yet to dabble in. Their produce is above par, they have an assortment of knick-knack items for the home and overall the savings was extraordinary. I left with a smile on my face from the whole experience and the extra cash still in my pocket.
