My husband and I visited for my birthday dinner. We wanted a romantic atmosphere and Marvino's was good for that. The food was really good although quite pricy, which I was prepared for. What I didn't expect was our server did not seem to think we were worthy of being there. I had a glass of wine and my husband had a cocktail with dinner. We were never offered a second drink. I definitely wanted another glass of wine, but our server was MIA. So we gave up and asked to order dessert. We used the Yelp check in free dessert offer. Be prepared if you use this offer to be sneered at. I was really surprised at his attitude. All of the other servers who came by were so gracious and nice but our server was so cold and unfriendly. Great experience with family celebrating a matriarch family member. We observed highly orchestrated table service with amazing perfection between all team members. The menu offerings observed were braised short ribs that melted into the palate and lobster ravioli and sautéed shrimp. The dining experience was flawless and worthy of 5 star acknowledgement. The snapper was not a reorder, but the rest of the dishes were good. The spaghetti in the chicken parm is sub par compared to other Italian restaurants, but the chicken portion was large and delicious. The praline cheesecake is a must order! read more

We hosted a rehearsal dinner for our sons wedding Fri, Jul 29,2022 at the Marvinos on Northwest fwy at Barker Cypress. We worked with Alan to plan the menu and budget. Alan was very flexible and a pleasure to work with even responding while he was on vacation to ensure we were prepared for the event. Maria and Adam were our wait staff and were very accommodating and responsive to our 45 guests (17 were kids). They did a great job getting the kids food out first, keeping the tables clean, refilling drinks and dodging kids :) when serving. The kids had cheese sticks as appetizers and I wished I had choice that for the adults too. They were huge and delicious. we served spinach artichoke dip and calamari as appetizers for the adults. For dinner we offer choice of Norwegian Salmon (to die for!!), ribeye with 3 fried gulf shrimp (huge shrimp) and chicken parmesan. All was absolutely scrumptious. we closed out the meal with Tuxedo and strawberry cheesecake. Lastly, the bill was as expected. We could not have been more please with how things turned out. My family has been going here for a while, but after my last experience, we won't be going back. Really disappointing because I've been a fan of this family's restaurants for years. I went with 2 friends for holiday dinner. One person's food was never delivered, my salad was never delivered but I was charged for it, our drinks were wrong but not replaced. After taking our order, the server never returned. Food was delivered by someone else, and when my friend's food didn't come, I asked for my server who didn't come. I ended up going to the front and asked for the manager who told me the kitchen was busy, he's been doing this for 30 years, and people don't understand how difficult it is. Ok sure... Absolutely nothing done to make it right. I told him that we're all from a restaurant background, and that I'm coming to him with my complaint to give them the opportunity to make it right rather than posting a bad review. The closest we got is he delivered my friend's dinner to go. We didn't ask for a refund or anything other than make it right and assure me that this matters to the company. That did not happen. Giving Marvino's anything but a 5 Star receive would just be wrong. Beautiful restaurant from the moment you pull into the parking lot, until you visit the clean and nice restrooms. The food is amazing. My wife thinks they serve the best Frozen Bellini in all of Houston. This can be an upscale date night experience or a weeknight quick stop and have dinner at their very large bar area. I have never been less than satisfied and beyond when choosing traditional Italian entrees, or some of the unique in house creations. Great food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended! read more

It was cold, rainy and I had a three hungry kids. We yelped local restaurants and settled for Marvino's based on price & review ratings. (Note to self- read reviews in the entirety.) It is a restaurant so the entrees are tailored to that dining experience. I was looking for selections that could be shared or appealing to their eyes. They do have a kids menu with the basic- Mac & cheese, pizza but the entrees are more catered to adults. In my opinion, the menu is not kind friendly. I settled on pizza and customized them to their taste buds for an extra charge. Their pizza selections were "fancy" and cheaper than customizing. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a full food review because of our selection. The decor is relaxing and romantic. The lights aren't bright and inviting. There was a young guy singing for the customers also. Price (2 dollar signs) Food (3 stars) We ordered two pizzas with spinach, pepperoni and bacon. The pizza was oven baked and had that crispy crust we enjoy. The melted cheese stretched as we grabbed our piece. The flavor was good but I think the pizza could of been a little hotter. We order pizza build your own that has sliced filet mignon, we show the picture to the server that was on yelp. they bring us with ground beef. we have told them this is not what we ordered they say ye this is small slice of meat but you can tell what is steak what is ground meat and we was charged $42 for that never ever again. read more

This restaurant has great ambiance. Very good drinks. Their bread and butter was delicious and likely all made in house. I had the filet mignon and it was over cooked but was still good. My husband had the rack of lamb and he said it was good. The pizza my daughter had looked good. For the four of us we walked out at over $250 and my husband and I had 3 alcohol drinks each. So with tip it was over $300. I would say for that amount of money I've been to better places but I'd go back...probably without the kids just because we don't care to spend that kind of money on food for the kids. read more

The shrimp was rubbery which is not a way to enjoy a meal. I had the Chicken Alfredo, which was good, not great. It's no better that that chain restaurant which gives unlimited salad and the like. We're moving to the area in February, came by today to show my kids the house and have dinner. My son chose Italian, I had seen Marvino's on our way so here is where we landed! The food was so good! I had the four cheese ravioli, my son the fettuccine alfredo, and my daughter the kids cheese pizza! The pizza was Huge for a child's plate, btw! Dessert consisted of a vanilla ice cream, I had the salted pecan cheesecake-this was Phenomenal!-and my son the chocolate mousse. Everything was Delicious! Our server was kind, but a smidge forgetful on items, and the other staff was constantly buzzing around-which was a little distracting/overwhelming. They have a large bar, and Clean Restrooms! What a gem! Came in tonight with my girlfriend and her mother. We ordered a cocktails which the bartender crafted to perfection! Try the raspberry lychee martini!! Service I give 10 stars! Maria and Carmen took GREAT care of my family and I On to the food, it was exceptional! Such great flavor and to pair we had a bottle of Chardonnay! And let me tell you, the wine list is WONDERFUL! I had come in a week ago for the first time and loved it, the server was amazing, service was quick and food was great, the first time i came i asked to substitute the green-beans to the asparagus on my dish, the server at the time (did not get the name) made it happen and was not an issue. So i decided to come back today, bringing more people with me since my first experience was so great but Karina, the server, charged an additional 10dollars to substitute green-beans to asparagus and the service was extremely slow and Karina, the server, was annoyed when we asked to split the bill. Have enjoyed or visits here in there past but our last visit was a little disappointing. I have to agree with several of the other Yelpers comments on the service. It was ok but somewhat inattentive. We didn't get a third place setting at our table when there were initially only two and I actually pulled one over from a vacant neighboring table. It was a bit slow but there were only two servers for about five tables for a late lunch, not sure if that qualified as understaffed. In general the restaurant wasn't as busy as I recalled it being a couple years ago at my last visit. The foods is still good so I wonder if there's something else going on. If you can risk the service, the weekend brunch offers some nice dishes. We're tried the pork chop, the chicken fried steak, and the salmon. All were well prepared, just a little too much pink in the pork chop near the bone. I also thought we'd ordered the chicken fried steak and we got the chicken fried chicken but it was juicy and tender and were charged the correct rate so we ended up happy with it. It gets one star because the mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. Chicken parm was on par with hospital food. The lasagna is decent and the tuna is dry. The orange juice tastes just like Minute Maid. I've never seen a place charge so much for such basic quality food. Then there is the cleanliness. My fiancee had a glass of water that had a very obvious imprint of lipstick on the glass. My fiancee doesn't wear lipstick and used a straw. When we told the waiter, he simply wiped it off. I went to Marvino's last night to celebrate my good friends birthday and man let me tell you that was an experience but not a good one. When we told the waitress it was her birthday she had a mean expression on her face and said" are you sure" like we were lying about her birthday which we weren't. My friends parents are having a divorce and things are hard at home so I thought for her birthday I could take her out and bring some light to her day. Than we ask to get something from then kids menu since we wanted smaller portions but the waitress was very mean saying well how old are you turning my friend said 16 and than the waitress was very mean saying she could not get it. Not a good night last week. Went here with the family and we wanted to split the check and was told by the hostess . . "Oh absolutely no problem". We got seated and waited for our waiter - placed our orders. We waited I know 45 minutes before our food arrived. We didn't order any wine just water, tea and soft drinks. What I noticed while waiting for our food was that the tables that ordered the bottles of wine got first class service. I watched while three tables that arrived after we did got their food before us . . . . and you guessed it all three tables were getting tanked on multiple bottles of wine. Coincidence? I won't know for sure. The waiter never refilled our drinks but the other staff did refill our water glasses. Food was overpriced and just not good - not for what we paid. The cherry on the cake of my day was when the check arrived and not split into two like we asked. I asked the waiter and he told me and I'm quoting" We are not going to split the check tonight". Extremely horrible experience this evening. I would strongly suggest that any one who considers eating at Marvino's to highly think twice. Before you go to dine in. 10 minutes went by before a server came over to see us. I watched them go to 4 other tables , pre-bussing and checking on those guest. Not 1 time did either of them stop by our table to at least acknowledge us. They only service the tables that were already seated. We were never greeted only given water and drink menus. No introduction whatsoever from our server so I do not know their names, nor food menus (until I asked) I had to flag down a server to place a drink order. A second server (guy) came by and I politely asked him if he was my server or if the other sever (lady) who stopped by 10 minutes ago was my server. He rudely replied with "you can order with whoever you want too, it doesn't matter"! . That was very odd to me ; his approach and delivery. I felt as if he expected me to already know that this is how the establishment is conducted.With the concept of me literally having to flag down a staff member to place an order. The 1st server, a lady informed me that they were in fact busy ; (there were about 4 other tables in the section that I was in and a few empty tables, the empty tables indicate that they were not fully booked) which is why they were very snappy and un-attentive. To me, that excuse is very unacceptable. There is no valid reason to be rude/snappy towards a guest. We ordered a few appetizers, drinks and 2 entrees. The steak entree was not prepared to our liking so we asked if it could go back on the grill to be cooked a little longer. The male server rudely snatched the plate away and said that he could. Now first off we asked the server when we placed the order what the restaurants steak cooking temperature/color meter was. Between Rare to Well Done. We were told that M/W would be slightly pink. That's the choice we went with. However the steak came out completely pink throughout. Which in my opinion falls well under Medium and not Medium /Well. We offered to buy another steak; again another angry/rude reply. The male sever says " well I'll have to get the manger first" Not sure why when we offered to pay for both. Things really take a turn for the worst once the manager came out. He was very unprofessional, and didn't offer any suggestions. At this point I'm furious, we only have one entree at the table and things are getting worse by the minute. We decide to go ahead and pay for our ticket and just leave. Once we told the manager that we would pay for what was already on the table (which was everything expect for the extra steak meal) He had the audacity with a straight face to ask us "Well what do you expect me to do with the steak that is being made right now" he obviously was implying that we should cover that too, as if we inconvenienced him in some type of way. He never apologized until I asked him what did he think should be the solution. His response was also rude and aggressive. He replied with well " I'm sorry this happened and I hope you come back". He was clearly upset over the extra steak that was being "prepared in the back" regardless of the fact my tab was already at $178. The only people who were inconvenience were my fiancée and I because not only did we pay $178 to Marvino's for food that we didn't get a chance to eat.
