What I didn't expect was our server did not seem to think we were worthy of being there. I had a glass of wine and my husband had a cocktail with dinner. We were never offered a second drink. I definitely wanted another glass of wine, but our server was MIA. So we gave up and asked to order dessert. We used the Yelp check in free dessert offer. Be prepared if you use this offer to be sneered at. I was really surprised at his attitude. All of the other servers who came by were so gracious and nice but our server was so cold and unfriendly. Great experience with family celebrating a matriarch family member. We observed highly orchestrated table service with amazing perfection between all team members. The menu offerings observed were braised short ribs that melted into the palate and lobster ravioli and sautéed shrimp. The dining experience was flawless and worthy of 5 star acknowledgement. This restaurant has great ambiance. Very good drinks. Their bread and butter was delicious and likely all made in house. I had the filet mignon and it was over cooked but was still good. My husband had the rack of lamb and he said it was good. The pizza my daughter had looked good. For the four of us we walked out at over $250 and my husband and I had 3 alcohol drinks each. So with tip it was over $300. I would say for that amount of money I've been to better places but I'd go back...probably without the kids just because we don't care to spend that kind of money on food for the kids. read more

We hosted a rehearsal dinner for our sons wedding Fri, Jul 29,2022 at the Marvinos on Northwest fwy at Barker Cypress. We worked with Alan to plan the menu and budget. Alan was very flexible and a pleasure to work with even responding while he was on vacation to ensure we were prepared for the event. Maria and Adam were our wait staff and were very accommodating and responsive to our 45 guests (17 were kids). They did a great job getting the kids food out first, keeping the tables clean, refilling drinks and dodging kids :) when serving. The kids had cheese sticks as appetizers and I wished I had choice that for the adults too. They were huge and delicious. we served spinach artichoke dip and calamari as appetizers for the adults. For dinner we offer choice of Norwegian Salmon (to die for!!), ribeye with 3 fried gulf shrimp (huge shrimp) and chicken parmesan. All was absolutely scrumptious. we closed out the meal with Tuxedo and strawberry cheesecake. Lastly, the bill was as expected. We could not have been more please with how things turned out. Giving Marvino's anything but a 5 Star receive would just be wrong. Beautiful restaurant from the moment you pull into the parking lot, until you visit the clean and nice restrooms. The food is amazing. My wife thinks they serve the best Frozen Bellini in all of Houston. This can be an upscale date night experience or a weeknight quick stop and have dinner at their very large bar area. I have never been less than satisfied and beyond when choosing traditional Italian entrees, or some of the unique in house creations. Great food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended! read more

They do have a kids menu with the basic- Mac & cheese, pizza but the entrees are more catered to adults. In my opinion, the menu is not kind friendly. I settled on pizza and customized them to their taste buds for an extra charge. Their pizza selections were "fancy" and cheaper than customizing. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a full food review because of our selection. The decor is relaxing and romantic. The lights aren't bright and inviting. There was a young guy singing for the customers also. Price (2 dollar signs) Food (3 stars) We ordered two pizzas with spinach, pepperoni and bacon. I went to Marvino's last night to celebrate my good friends birthday and man let me tell you that was an experience but not a good one. When we told the waitress it was her birthday she had a mean expression on her face and said" are you sure" like we were lying about her birthday which we weren't. My friends parents are having a divorce and things are hard at home so I thought for her birthday I could take her out and bring some light to her day. Than we ask to get something from then kids menu since we wanted smaller portions but the waitress was very mean saying well how old are you turning my friend said 16 and than the waitress was very mean saying she could not get it. When the waitress brought out the cake she just put the plate down very hard and left. But a few minutes before it was someone's else's birthday and they all sang to that person. Not a good night last week. Went here with the family and we wanted to split the check and was told by the hostess . . "Oh absolutely no problem". We got seated and waited for our waiter - placed our orders. We waited I know 45 minutes before our food arrived. We didn't order any wine just water, tea and soft drinks. What I noticed while waiting for our food was that the tables that ordered the bottles of wine got first class service. I watched while three tables that arrived after we did got their food before us . . . . and you guessed it all three tables were getting tanked on multiple bottles of wine. Coincidence? I won't know for sure. The waiter never refilled our drinks but the other staff did refill our water glasses. Food was overpriced and just not good - not for what we paid. The cherry on the cake of my day was when the check arrived and not split into two like we asked. I asked the waiter and he told me and I'm quoting" We are not going to split the check tonight". Service was good, but the food was sub par. My guest had the Shrimp diavola or whatever it was called (i am reviewing from a visit 7 months ago - it's not even on the menu now) was overcooked. The shrimp was rubbery which is not a way to enjoy a meal. I had the Chicken Alfredo, which was good, not great. It's no better that that chain restaurant which gives unlimited salad and the like. I wondered why there was nobody here?? As we arrived just after midday on a Sunday. I soon found out. Initially we were offered a booth seat but requested a table and received a scornful look. A table was finally found. we were shown to a small corner section of the restaurant, as there was nobody dining, and the place was empty. About 4 couples were present. We're moving to the area in February, came by today to show my kids the house and have dinner. My son chose Italian, I had seen Marvino's on our way so here is where we landed! The food was so good! I had the four cheese ravioli, my son the fettuccine alfredo, and my daughter the kids cheese pizza! The pizza was Huge for a child's plate, btw! Dessert consisted of a vanilla ice cream, I had the salted pecan cheesecake-this was Phenomenal!-and my son the chocolate mousse. Everything was Delicious! What a gem! Came in tonight with my girlfriend and her mother. We ordered a cocktails which the bartender crafted to perfection! Try the raspberry lychee martini!! Service I give 10 stars! I had come in a week ago for the first time and loved it, the server was amazing, service was quick and food was great, the first time i came i asked to substitute the green-beans to the asparagus on my dish, the server at the time (did not get the name) made it happen and was not an issue. So i decided to come back today, bringing more people with me since my first experience was so great but Karina, the server, charged an additional 10dollars to substitute green-beans to asparagus and the service was extremely slow and Karina, the server, was annoyed when we asked to split the bill. Will not be returning. I felt terrible for bringing everyone in, thinking i would get the same amazing service as last time. Nobody was happy with Karina's service. read more

Have enjoyed or visits here in there past but our last visit was a little disappointing. I have to agree with several of the other Yelpers comments on the service. It was ok but somewhat inattentive. We didn't get a third place setting at our table when there were initially only two and I actually pulled one over from a vacant neighboring table. It was a bit slow but there were only two servers for about five tables for a late lunch, not sure if that qualified as understaffed. In general the restaurant wasn't as busy as I recalled it being a couple years ago at my last visit. The foods is still good so I wonder if there's something else going on. If you can risk the service, the weekend brunch offers some nice dishes. We're tried the pork chop, the chicken fried steak, and the salmon. All were well prepared, just a little too much pink in the pork chop near the bone. I also thought we'd ordered the chicken fried steak and we got the chicken fried chicken but it was juicy and tender and were charged the correct rate so we ended up happy with it. We've enjoyed Marvino's several times in the past, but very disappointed last night. My steak was overcooked and came out much too salty to eat. Our waiter was nice, pleasant, but disinterested? It wasn't busy in the seating area. He asked a bit late and literally in passing if everything was ok, but all I saw was his back. Why bother asking at all if you aren't going to turn your head and pause to see if anyone responds? (We weren't asked when the food came out or soon enough after.) The mashed potatoes weren't warm. We were offered dessert, declined, but our birthday family member asked if there was anything, some treat, for her birthday. He seemed surprised, asking, "It's your birthday?" The gift bags were right there the entire time, and we had made a reservation with a notation that we were celebrating a birthday. We certainly were not asked at any time upon arrival or while there if there was any special occasion. A waitress came toward the end to offer to box our food. I told her about my steak. She seemed genuinely concerned, offered to have another prepared, but everyone else ready to go. It gets one star because the mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. Chicken parm was on par with hospital food. The lasagna is decent and the tuna is dry. The orange juice tastes just like Minute Maid. I've never seen a place charge so much for such basic quality food. Then there is the cleanliness. My fiancee had a glass of water that had a very obvious imprint of lipstick on the glass. My fiancee doesn't wear lipstick and used a straw. When we told the waiter, he simply wiped it off. When I asked bartender for a glass of wine he asked if I was going to pay for it, I felt like that was a stupid question, well of course, I didn't think wine was free! So. We were here for my fathers 88 birthday and they were aware because when I made the reservation they asked for the occasion. It was forgotten and never mentioned again until I asked about it and they said they did not know. All the food was served to the wrong person, they were out of 3 of the 4 wines offered. We had to pass hot plates around the table. There were so many waiters at times then there were none. No one mentioned desert at hour 2 or coffee. It took forever to cut a piece of key lime pie. The food was NOT GOOD the white sauce was milky and the read sauce too thick and gunky. No one even saw the disaster happening and reached out to help. We had to chase the wait staff down.
