Worst service ever We were dining at this place and I ordered the grilled cheese meal for my kid. My son is allergic to eggs but usually grilled cheese comes with white bread so I just made the assumption. When the server brought the dish, I noticed it's not white bread. So I told my husband, let's double check before giving it to the kid and we could order something new if it did contain eggs. The server came and I asked him if the bread was white bread but he said he didn't know. So I asked him if he could double check because my son has egg allergy. All the sudden he became very mad and rude. He said why didn't you tell me before ordered???? I understood his frustration and was about to apologize and wanted to tell him we planned to order a new one. Before we did that, he simply yelled WE ARE NOT GOING TO REMAKE THIS! Wait, what?!!! So he assumed I wanted to ask him to remake the dish for free??? He's worried about us not wanting to pay for another kid's meal which cost $12? So ridiculous!!! At all times, I never asked him to remake. I just wanted to double check before i gave it to my kid or see if I should order a new dish. With him being so rude and unprofessional , I didn't feel the need to explain. Later he came and said the fries that came with the grilled cheese also contained eggs. He also asked if we wanted to order something else. We just said no and left because we didn't want to continue receiving rude and unprofessional customer service. read more

it's a good hotel restaurant, i don't ever have any expectations when it comes to a hotel restaurant. i was staying here and tried it out for both dinner and breakfast. order dinner and took it to my room, it was good and the hostess was nice.service was fast. for breakfast they only have a buffet, there were good options. and an omelet station, everything was good. the restaurant is big with big windows facing the pool. and service is fast. read more

So, let me start by saying the service is outstanding. (Major kudos to Erica!) The care taken is exceptional with plating. (Elite alert: The "resort fee" at the hotel includes two modest servings of wine per night... not fabulous wines, but also included in the charge. Just give your room number and get your tickets, redemption at the wine bar.) And the wine selection is also good (but could be better). I really wish they would focus on local wineries like Wente (hint, hint). Their wine room, fabulous! Check it out for happy hour! Better yet, it's bookable! And I came back for the vegetable platter, TWICE! (Although they should really warn their olives still have pits... gah! And sadly the eater next to me had a broken oyster served to her... which is a big no-no! So don't be afraid to send food back! But I just watched the small plate pizza go by, and it looked really good!) In fact, the entire decor is relaxed and inviting. The area near the wine tasting bar is quiet and relaxed, while the bar area is full of popular music, laughter and great seating options. All in all... I'd be happy to meet friends here, or stop in after dinner. read more

The food was delicious But the service was even better Shaddy was our server for the evening and he was % amazing. We had a larger party and he immediately accommodated us no questions asked.he kept checking in on us making sure we were updated on the status of our food. Brought the kids food out early so they wouldn't get restless he even participated in keeping a secret to surprise our parents with cake and ice cream. The whole experience was just absolutely wonderful. Thank you again Shaddy for all of your hard work. read more

Marina Kitchen is in the Marriott Marquis on Harbor Blvd. It is on the floor behind the registration area toward the South Tower. It says they serve modern comfort food and drink. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and even have a kids menu. The menu has an interesting array prime beef, chicken and seafood in creative ways. They told us they use fresh, seasonally available ingredients which I appreciate. We came in for lunch since it was in walking distance from the marina. My husband ordered a cup of clam chowder and the panko coated fish & chips and I had the swordfish with puréed potatoes and roasted baby veggies. The chowder came out first-and I noticed a chile oil floating on the top with micro greens. I warned my husband, who can't handle spicy. I ate it and it was very hot but tasty with the chowder. The clam chowder was probably the best we have ever had. It wasn't too thick or too thin, with enough clams and soft potatoes and a great flavor. The entrees came perfectly timed after the soup was finished. The panko coated fish were excellent but the fries were just barely warm. We sent them back and they came back really hot-and they were really good too. The swordfish has a nice caramelization and amazing light sauce. The puréed potatoes were smooth and delicious. And the roasted baby veggies that were so good. The perfect meal. I highly recommend the Marina Kitchen. Abe, our server, was very nice and professional. We had a view of the swimming pools with palm trees and flowers. And the food is excellent! read more

We decided to eat breakfast at the Marina Kitchen Restaurant located inside the Marriott on our last day of our stay. You can order from the menu or choose their buffet. Their buffet is quite pricey, but it is all you can eat with coffee/juice. If you order from their menu and add a drink, it would be more than the buffet price! Now to the buffet! This place is BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS!!! They have cheese and different lunch meats. There's fruits, cereal, cold oatmeal parfait, bacon, sausages, hot oatmeal with all the fixings!! There's a FANTASTIC guy that can make your eggs to order. He made me a very tasty omelette!! There's also french toast and waffles. Different breads and biscuits. They have the most delicious persimmon jam I've ever tasted. Overall, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. A beautiful place with great food! The only thing was the sting of a bit pricey for breakfast!! Especially when you're not wanting to overeat!!! read more

We came in for dinner with a 5 yo and waited for more than 30 mins for our food. Someone forgot our food that we ordered, and tried to serve some food that we didn't order. The restaurant was not even a full house with such slow services. One star for sure. If I am not a Marriott elite member I wouldn't even come to this place. I'm eating lunch, waiting for my room at the Marriott. This restaurant is located inside the Marriott. It's clean, spacious and welcoming. They have a very nice view of the pools. There is a bar and tables against the windows. They have TVs at the bar and food service also. They have traditional eating tables and a lounge area available. It is self seating. My server/bartender is Sandra. She's very helpful. She even went to the kitchen to answer my questions about the food. I'm eating a seafood salad. It's healthy and yummy. I'm here for 4 days, I imagine I'll be here again!!! read more

Every time I write a positive review on the food from either the Marina kitchen or the Marina market the prices go up. The last review I wrote on the Marina restaurant they changed the price of the entree I liked by $6 and took away dinner rolls and now charge $7 dollars for them! The last time I wrote a review on the Marina market avocado toast they changed the price and raised it $3 dollars within a few months. I'm going stop writing good reviews for the Marina kitchen or the Market. We were here the day before the Fourth of July and bought food at the Marina Market, the very next day we went and all the prices had been raised by $3-$5 each. I don't know if it was simply for the Fourth of July weekend, but we went again this morning and the prices were still all that much higher. It's getting really out of control, and that's coming from someone who spends a lot of money on eating out.. read more

HOTEL BAR LOUNGING After an evening stroll down the waterfront, a glass of wine was calling. It's the best way to end the weekend! I've been to the Hyatt and wanted to check this place out. I know, hotel lounge? There's something peaceful and sophisticated about hotel lounges, it's quieter and everybody mind's their business. Lounge area has comfy couch seating and one large screen tv. The bar has several TV and plenty of bar seats squaring around the bar. SAUVIGNON BLANC - 2015 Langlois-Chateau, Sancerre, France Sauvignon Blanc's from France are my favorite white wine of choice. Okay, it's probably the only white wine I'll drink. It wasn't the best that I've had and the after notes were a little dry for my liking but it was still a decent blanc in my opinion. RECOMMEND TRUFFLE FRIES - truffle salt, parsley, Grana Padano, garlic aioli. Pretty pricy for french fries but portion was decent and the execution of the fries were delicious. Nice crunch and seasoned well. You can taste the truffle on the fry and the seasoning, although noticeable yet not overpowering. The parsley and Grana Padano were visible on the top of the bowl and wish it was spread throughout the bowl. I tried to do it myself but only made a mess on the table. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Until the next review.... read more

I was at this hotel for a week. I enjoyed it. But the restaurant for the breakfast buffet is way over priced. Good thing I was there on business. The first time I got breakfast it was Monday & it was warm plus seemed freshly cut with the fruit. I enjoyed my hash and also the cook. He was very friendly and welcoming. The second time I came for breakfast though. Oh my goodness it was horrible. Everything tasted days old. Like they just kept it all and didn't refrigerate it right. So many flies on the fruit and you can look at it and see just how soggy it all was. Super disappointing. There was literally nats flying around the Asian food station. Which is all uncovered. I brought it up to a hostess but she didn't seem to care she just kept talking to her coworkers. I was sitting across from stand and I didn't once hear her say anything to anyone about it. read more

On the first day of my visit, I arrived around 7:30am, so I ordered an over medium egg combo breakfast that came with your choice of protein (bacon, turkey sausage, regular sausage), pancakes, fresh fruit, and an English muffin. On the second day, I visited this restaurant around 10am, so I decided to get the breakfast buffet, which was a perfect time for brunch! They have an incredible selection of items ranging from custom made omelets and pancakes. They have a fresh selection of fruits, juices, and yogurt. They also have scrambled eggs, yummy bacon, turkey sausage, bagels, oatmeal, muffins, pastries, and french toast. Beautiful decor and conveniently located within the Marriot Marquis hotel :) We just ordered small sides and desserts, but we got: Brussel sprouts with bacon: Very tiny, cute little brussel sprouts packed with delicious flavor! Bacon was a great addition as well...the brussel sprouts are more on the firm side (some like it cooked more), but I was fine with it. Seasonal veggies: This was actually very interesting to me. I love my veggies, but this dish actually had some goodies in there that had me wondering "What is that?" There were tons of veggies, definitely locally bought and seasonal (some places call carrots, peas, and broccoli "seasonal"). Wonderful color, and once again on the firmer side. I found purple and white veggies that weren't anything I've seen before...but were delicious all the same. Seasoned with simple salt, I was able to get the pure natural flavor of the vegetables. It was wonderful. Fudge brownie: A lot of people ordered this...so of course, we had to as well! Yummy yummy...topped off with homemade-tasting vanilla ice cream. Rich and full of sugary sweetness! Bread pudding: This dessert was wonderful as well. I just love the little scoop of what tasted like brown sugar ice cream (forgot what it really was) that enhanced the warm, gooey, comfort of the bread pudding. This is definitely the place to relax and enjoy a meal, dessert, or even a snack. Seriously, I can't emphasize enough how amazing the atmosphere is. However, this makes it hard to flag down the waiters some time, so keep it in mind! Otherwise...wow. I'll be back if I ever stay at the hotel again :) read more

We also came during Comic Con on a Friday night. Friend heard the music would be good and we were also picking up another friend from the airport earlier that evening. I was skeptical about coming here since Marina is located in the Marriott right next door to the convention center. It was humid, muggy, and warm inside the restaurant. The bar area wasn't too packed so we sat at the long bar table facing the windows. No one helped us so I walked up to the bar to order drinks. The female bartender barely acknowledged me and I had to politely ask her if I could order drinks from her. Friend wanted a vodka neat, I asked for the house red (assuming it would be cheaper than the min $9/glass or so I saw on menu), and another friend wanted just ginger ale/sprite. Guess what the price was. Just GUESS. $43 after tip. Yes, I still tip grouchy bartenders. But FORTY THREE DOLLARS for 3 drinks (one which was a house wine which ended up being $13 and one which was a non alcoholic soda served with a lot of ice). Friend was starving so he ordered a pizza and chicken bites. Pizza and the fried chicken bites were truly a sad statement that should not represent this restaurant. They must have more potential than this. The pizza/flatbread was limp with bare minimum cheese on top. The chicken bites were over drenched in buffalo sauce and could have passed for a kids meal. I am not sure how much friend paid for this as he had a separate tab but I think it was over $35 after tax/tip. The band that night was great and I would have enjoyed them more had the air been better circulated in the restaurant. It was nice to people watch as there were some cool costumes and characters from Comic Con. But the service, drinks, food, and prices left a sad dent that night for us. read more

I have been a regular of Marina Kitchen since that night I just wanted a cappuccino and I got a yes for an answer at the bar. Since then I have been in NYE and other occasions and last Friday we had an excellent time sharing a the MK burger that was the most splendid burger I have eaten in the past few months. Ok, $18 but really worth the price. We asked to share (as we usually do, as we don't want to eat too much) and we were greatly surprised to have the burger divided in two different plates (a nice wood and not sure if metal, but looked like black rock) with two servings of that delicious sauce and two servings of shoestrings fries. I mean for the price of 1 we got 2 separate plates, how generous was that. Not only the presentation was fantastic (and lets not talk about the views to the beautiful pool and the great live music). The flavors were amazing, the chef Aron Schwartz definitively does an amazing job. The meat was cooked to perfection, Gouda cheese melting awesomely and the arugula adding a fresh farm-to-table touch. Needless to say I want to try everything in the menu and hopefully more great times at the Marina Kitchen. read more

Ate here during Comic-Con. Prices are a little steep but it's also at the expected price point for a hotel right next to the convention center hosting SDCC. They have some pretty interesting items on the menu, like a Maker's Mark Whiskey Milkshake. Very good Walnut Shrimp appetizer... I went for the Seasoned veggies and gnocchi entree and was thoroughly satisfied as I was going through a veggie deficit. The gnocchi was homemade and the veggies were fresh. The waitress was also delightfully helpful and very attentive. I would come here again next year as not only is the food good but it's reliable with the menu and their full bar. read more

This restaurant is located in the Marriott and is convenient if you are staying in the hotel. The restaurant area has a good view but it's a little smelly from all the grease. They have a lot of food options which are unfortunately just ok. There is something about the food that feels mass produced and not so fresh. Stopped by just after checking in, and after traveling all day, to have a drink. Mel, the Bartender, was SO RUDE! I made a mistake giving my room # (I had JUST checked in). I returned later in the evening and Mel was still there, so I went to the opposite side he was on. We're staying at in the Marquis Marriott hotel for 3 days and decided to eat at the Marina kitchen which is part of the hotel. Sure why not? It's raining pretty hard outside so leaving the hotel to look for restaurants options is limited. We were greeted and sat right away but after the waiter took our drinks order the service was painfully slow. The Staff is very limited in this restaurant. The only guy that is the hostess is also our waiter and maybe even our bartender at the moment. I won't be surprised if he is also the cook. Jokes aside, the food finally came out. My boyfriend order lemon pepper chicken wings for appetizers and a burger. I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad. My chicken was dried and old looking. Dressing wasn't good. The lemon pepper chicken wing was not good either but my bf loved it. His burger was good. It was big and juicy. Earlier I asked for a coke. Was told they have only Pepsi. What about dr. Pepper? No, but they have root beer. Okay I want a root beer. He brought my drink. It was Pepsi. Lol. I didn't say anything. I figure I might as well drink the Pepsi because I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for my drink. My utensil had dried spotted food stains. We asked for new utensils. I sat next to the window viewing the swimming pool area. It's a rainy day but the view was still lovely. I'm in a wheel chair. The restaurant pathway is spread wide enough to accommodate my wheelchair which was nice I didn't have to squeeze through to get to a table. Our waiter was nice but unfortunately he was the only waiter running around accommodating other customers and at one point he disappeared in the back and we didn't see him again for awhile. We ordered brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. I'm sorry but the brownie was probably the worse I've had ever eaten. It was oddly made. I swore they missed an ingredient in it. My bf has a sweet tooth he'll eat anything and everything if it's sweet. He made a comment about the brownie lol. Would I eat here again? Probably not because the food was not that cheap and it was mediocre. read more

Marina kitchen is a nice bar, but definitely overpriced. But then again, so is the whole hotel. The bar itself is a nice, chill spot. Friday and Saturday nights they have someone come to perform in the bar/lounge area. I got a burger and a spicy margarita. Both were surprisingly good! It's a good place for food if you don't feel like leaving the hotel to venture in to gaslamp. Ok so changing my review. The bar does not care if you like or dislike your food.
