Long waits! It was a regular weekday and we came around 8:30 pm-ish and the wait was at least 1hr out the door. The host was really good at remembering who came first considering he didn't write anyone's name down! Amazing. What's better is that, this has to be the best pizza we had in Italy. Simple delicious and definitely worth the value! Good portions for the amount of foods. The seafood de mare had an abundant of variety seafoods & large shrimps. We wanted to make sure we got to try what's the hype of Italian pizza was all about & this place did not disappoints. The bread was chewy but crispy. This was the best food I had while in Milan. To sum it up, I found God in my Capricciosa pizza. It was unlike anything I've ever had as far as pizza goes, and I've had my share. This is a great place to eat some authentic Italian food. On a Saturday just before 8pm we got the last 2 person table. We were surrounded by locals (a good sign) and began with a good and cheap house wine. This is my first visit to Milan and I tried this place out based on other Yelp reviews. I confer that this is worth a visit. A colleagues and I went for dinner on Sunday evening and there was a wait to get in and new people arriving the whole time we were there. This said, we waited less than ten minutes for a table: no problem. We shared a pizza which was flavorful - well cooked and with a good chewy crust - and an order of veal scallopini with green peppercorns. I had a house-made panne cotta for dessert: excellent! The house red was good and not too expensive. The service was very good overall. (I'd give this place five stars, but I typically reserve that for places where I've been more than once.) read more

I'm a very big fan of Maruzzella. I've eaten here the last couple of times I've been in Milan and enjoyed each meal. The pizza's are fantastic and run from 5e-10e on average. I usually get the carbonara as well which is fantastic. I'd recommend showing up as close to opening time as possible to avoid a long wait. read more

I don't usually give so many five stars, but after my visit to Milan it is hard not to. There were so many amazing places to eat and see. This place was definitely one of them. This restaurant came recommended to me by my Italian colleague who used to live in Milan and stated this was his favorite pizza place. He warned me that I would have to wait at the minimum 20 minutes no matter what time I went. He was NOT wrong. You would never guess that a jewel of a restaurant awaits inside by walking down the street. I would have never noticed this place as anything special if I hadn't known beforehand. Immediately upon entering you are welcomed by a guy throwing pizza dough into the air and shoving pizza's into a wood fire oven. The owner welcomed us and asked for our names and warned us we would be waiting 20 minutes. There was a plate of yummy cooked pizza dough with spices and oil to chew on while you waited. It didn't feel like much of a long wait as it was fun to watch all the yummy food passing, watching them make one yummy pizza after another, and smelling the aroma of the Italian spices and cheese wafting through the air. Once we were seated we took a glance through the very large menu offering many dishes besides pizza. They also had an extensive wine list. However, when we asked for a wine recommendation they just brought the house red wine which was very nice. The buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad was amazing, and the pizza was the best pizza I have had. I am hungry just thinking about it. The limencello was a delicious way to end the meal. We just didn't have room for any of the yummy looking deserts. This is another place I would add to my must return to list when visiting Milan. read more

I went here based on other great reviews but have to say I was let down. The place was clean, priced very well and nice enough. But the food quality left much to be desired. Not the best Italian meal I was expecting. Salad seemed like something that came out of a bag and the pollo milanese came out of the kitchen way too quickly to be fresh made if you ask me. I had the homemade baba for dessert and that was very good. My recommendation is try some other places in the area. read more

Helps if you are Italian, have a drink while you wait and Build a relationship with the Maître who does a great job controlling the crowds. Had a late dinner tonight. I purposefully ordered a pizza and a pasta and ate half of each so that I could take the rest home for my breakfast the next morning before my early flight back home. The waiter didn't understand my request to "pack and take away / take-out" and threw out my pasta but packed my 2 slices of pizza. I was disappointed and all he could do was say sorry. He, the pizza chef and another waiter explained the situation to the owner but the owner just threw up his hands and said "too bad" in italian and walked away from them. The kitchen was closed, which is fine as I really did not want to wait for it to be made again. I suggested just charging me for half of the pasta as it was the waiter's mistake. The 3 staff agreed that was fair but the owner wouldn't budge. After going up to him at the cash and telling him what happened AGAIN he finally, in an angry tone, slammed the 6 euro on the table and yelled at me. Him and the host told me to leave the restaurant and pointed to the door. Keeping my calm, I walked back to my table, put my coat on, spoke to both the waiter and advised him to tell his boss that it was his mistake. After speaking to the pizza chef, who profusely apologized, I left the restaurant. The pizza may be great here (pasta wasn't too good), but the owner just doesn't know how to do good business. I wouldn't go back there nor will I suggest any of my colleagues and friends to go there. Talk about hot-headed! read more

We love it here, been back over and over because their pizzas are so good and their pastas are cheap and so tasty. The owner/host is always so nice and his staff is great, especially the waiter who is (was?) a wrestler! We had the ragu which is very good but we lovedddd the arrabbiata. The cream sauce with porcini is good w the tagliatelle and the margherita pizza is only €5! The crust is the perfect combo of chewy yet crunchy. We see lots of locals and tourists/foreigners line up here every day but if you get there right when they open, the big restaurant can accommodate you. Really tasty pizza, but expect to wait quite a while. We went around 9:00pm on a Sunday night, but we still needed to wait outside for about 30 minutes. You need to find the owner, who is handing the wait list. You won't write your name anywhere, just have him recognize that you're waiting. Then when table are free, he just remembers the order. Recent business trip to Milan and I was traveling solo - needed a place for dinner and didn't know where to start. A quick search for pizza on yelp brought me here and I was thrilled. As an American, I have a natural love for pizza. But as an American, I also grew up on pizza which is defined in a different way than in its native Italy. However, while I love St. Louis, New York, and even thick crust pizza loaded with toppings, this is the best pizza I have ever had. I ordered the classic diavola pizza, but made sure to add buffalo cheese. This is a must. The result was a classic pizza but with high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection in their authentic Italian pizza oven. The taste was pure and I panicked when half way through I hit a wall - but not to fear; I got a second wind and soldiered on! I made sure to add a carafe of the house white wine, which was superb for being a house, and I finished off with an excellent tiramisu. Would highly recommend to any traveller. Warning: the restaurant often has a line and rather than keeping a wait list they seat people based on memory. This is maddening for an American used to order. However, the proprietor Armando lords over the waiting crowd and handed out free wine during my wait. While I doubted his ability to keep everyone straight in his head, I was promised a 20 minute wait and I was seated in 25. Don't let the disorder discourage you! read more

It's been voted one of the best pizza spots in Milan. Totally lived up to the hype. You do have to wait if you go at peak hours, so if you're apposed to waiting while they give you complimentary prosecco, then go earlier than 7 pm. Two Aussies walk into a restaurant with an unpretentious, authentic decor that is full of locals, features a very reasonably priced menu (hey, our dollar sucks at the moment). But the taste and the quality of food you ask?...DELICIOUS! We had the diavola pizza, cottolette Milanese and tagliatelle ragu but order anything you like, every plate looked amazing! My husband and I were in Milan as part of our honeymoon and was recommended to try Maruzzella. We were there on a Tuesday night and had to wait a little over 30 minutes for a table, which we expected. There was probably another 4-5 parties waiting for tables as well and the owner of the restaurant came out and offered everyone a glass of their house white wine! How fantastic is that? The food was very good and service was attentive. We ordered the calamari, portion was huge. We also ordered the veal something (fried) and it was also very good. Food was decently priced.
