Had a blast celebrating my friends birthday here a few weeks ago! I studied abroad in Korea when I was in school and some of my favorite memories involve Korean karaoke bars. Finding Maru was a treat! It's not really going to blow you away in terms of amenities or anything but there are lots of songs to choose from. I wish it was easier to browse the songs (they're alphabetized by song title), but ultimately, searching is part of the fun. Now if only I could find the beers I was drinking in Korea...

I went here with friends for my birthday! I love karaoke and I brought some karaoke skeptics here with me. It wasn't long before they were singing and rapping their nostalgic middle school songs right with me! We also ordered the special alcoholic drink they had, I can't remember what it was called but it was delicious! I would say that their menu and business functioning was a little confusing on prices and such. Also they only do full hour slots. We were ready to go at an hour and a half but we stayed to the two hours because they charge full hours. Nothing too crazy though! We had so much fun!

I really hope that doesn't say Bat Top Shell..

I don't often do karaoke but when I do... wait. This has nothing to do with Dos Equis. I befriended a large group of cute young people in the Korean restaurant next door and they dragged me over here to do some karaoke. They didn't realize I was a professional singer so I tried not to sound to professional. Which isn't hard for me because I'm not really that professional don't tell anyone it's a secret. It's not the cheapest karaoke I've ever been to but the system works fine and it has plenty of songs, especially if you are wanting to sing some Asian music or some pop hits. It's definitely a fun place to have a fun time and it's cool that Indianapolis has a place like this for the Korean community and for everybody else.

    Drinks

Overly priced and they won't even print an itemized receipt just some note paper the lady with the white hair will write on and then they'll demand for a 10% "tip" after bringing in food on cheap paper plates and charging 9.99 for 1 packet of ramen in a bowl that they microwaved? Not even ramyeon. $15 for 5 dry unseasoned chicken wings and not to mention they apparently ran out of spicy sauce so you're left eating wings that have little to no flavor besides the grease on them. Not to even mention the music catalog is badly outdated. The alcohol selection is $5 soju that they'll audaciously charge $25 a bottle for. Bad business practice. Do not recommend unless you feel like getting ripped off. Definitely better karaoke bars in the Indy area than this excuse.

This was refreshing but a bit odd! It felt like the karaoke joints I frequent back home! They serve alcohol aka "singing in front of people bravery serum" and even snacks. They have some pretty recent songs in English and even have tambourines so those who aren't holding mics can get in on some of the fun! There are party lights in the room and the karaoke system is easy to use. The only odd thing is that they weren't open during the posted hours. I was there at six but they weren't there until about 30 mins later which was inconvenient. They had songs from artists like Journey to Blink 182 and even recent songs like Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down". It was a lot of fun and you could probably squeeze in 8 people and sing for an hour for only $25 bucks! In a private room!!! I know this much... girls like music and dancing. You take em on a date here and show them how to have fun and let loose and not be shy and timid and they might find that more attractive than your face! Go on... give it a try! And it's a private room so you don't have to be embarrassed. It's not about singing GREAT, it's about having fun and just singing and letting loose and releasing your inner rock star. Give this a try and be a Don Juan for a night! You may get lucky and you already have a private room =)!

How much does it cost currently for the hour?

How much is it to get in and how much person and karaoke? how much for 3 people to do karaoke?

Last time I went there it was $25 for the room per hour. Doesn't matter how many folks and they will split checks for you if you want to pay separately.

This place is great for groups. We were seated in a booth and we were greeted by our server right away. He did a great job of explaining the different options of what to order. The food was excellent! The hot bar & vegetable/salad bar were excellent! They had of bunch of different "appetizer" type options on the hot bar. However there was so much food with the KBbq that we were actually disappointed that we wasted stomach space on the hot bar (eventhough the food was good!). The hot pot was great & the broth had such great flavor. The KBbq was amazing! We really loved all the different cuts of meat for the grill! The short ribs were a fav & there's more than enough food for the table so everyone leaves more than full! It's also great that eventhough this place is busy & set up well for groups, it's not overly loud so you can still carry on a normal volume level conversation with others at your table! There are carnival type games and other distractions to pass the time. When seated your table has a large stove surface in the middle where you will either be doing BBQ or hot pot cooking. The menu is straightforward and easy to choose your option. The whole table has to choose the same option (BBQ or hot pot) so discussion might be helpful before the waiter arrives. Then you choose your meat and broth type and head to the never ending salad and veggie area. It has veggies, noodles, sauces, toppings and more! The waiter tells you em several times it is all you can eat, thus the higher price point. Make sure to note too though that if you order a lot more than you eat you will get charged a few for leftovers. They want to curb food waste which is commendable. I suggest starting small and then building as for sure you get full rather quickly! My favorite aspect was the sauce area where they listed sauce combos the recommend. It helped me a lot to have some guidance and I liked the sauce I chose from their list. A fun interactive experience and good for groups. It is loud and smelly as you are basically sitting inside a large kitchen. But a fun experience and yummy food so worth a visit!

One of the reasons I loved it was the traditional charcoal grill, which is becoming harder and harder to find these days. Most places use gas grills, but charcoal really gives the meat that authentic Korean BBQ flavor. Because of my past visits, I came in expecting the same level of food quality and service. However, it seems the restaurant may now be under new ownership because the experience felt very different from what I remembered. Service was noticeably slower, and the food quality was not what I had come to expect from Bando. The bulgogi, galbi, chicken, and marinated pork were all brought out together on one plate. When I asked if I could order just beef, I was told that meats cannot be selected individually. Instead, I could choose three meats that would be served in half portions. We were also told that if any of the meat was not finished, there would be an additional $10 charge per person. Another surprise was that the usual Korean BBQ accompaniments were missing. Typically, all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ includes items like steamed egg and soybean soup, but neither were provided. Lettuce for wraps was also charged separately at $4. It's unfortunate because this used to be one of my go-to Korean BBQ spots. The charcoal grill is still a great feature, but overall, the experience wasn't the same as before. Free parking is available, which at least makes visiting convenient. Sadly, it may be time for me to start looking for a new Korean BBQ restaurant.
