Love your clothes? Then don't bring them here! I WAS a faithful customer for over 25 years, spending on average $600+ per year at this dry cleaner. They shrunk my favorite Brooks Brothers merino wool sweater (tags said "Dry Clean Only"), melted the lining in a beautiful jacket and damaged a third piece, a linen skirt.
I called to complain, and the response from the woman was: "I'm sorry your feelings are hurt."
WTF!!! REALLY??? I told her my feelings weren't hurt, they ruined a very expensive sweater. I told the woman how much I paid, she offered a reimbursement amount, which I assumed would be paid in cash. She laughed and told me it was only a credit. Why would I want to drop off MORE good clothes when this cleaner has already demonstrated that they can't be trusted to take proper care of my clothes??? She added that the amount was as high as she could go since my sweater was "last season's." Again, REALLY??? This is a classic Brooks Brothers that they shrunk so small it was ridiculous.
In that same order, I had a summer jacket and when the garment was returned to me, the jacket lining appeared to have been over heated, resulting in a wrinkled texture to the fabric. The third piece was a linen skirt that had been so over heated that the skirt itself shrunk and the lining ended up being longer than the skirt. I had to take the skirt to my tailor to have the lining shortened so it would not be longer than the skirt.
There is NO EXCUSE for a dry cleaner to make these kinds of mistakes, much less three in the same order. It was clear someone operating the equipment didn't know how to properly control the temperature settings.
Based on the extremely poor treatment of my clothes, and the horrible customer service, I would NEVER patronize this cleaner EVER again, and I tell EVRYONE to avoid One Hour Martinizing in Lincoln Park. read more
