A Great Place to Wash, Friendly & Safe! I've been coming to…read moreLupita Wash & Dry for quite a while, and I can honestly say this place feels safe and welcoming -- even with the ongoing concerns people have been talking about in the neighborhood. While there has been a lot of conversation in the community about ICE and how that's affecting people's comfort outside their homes and regular routines, I personally feel comfortable coming here to do my laundry and see lots of other neighbors doing the same. The facility itself is clean, the machines work well, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's a normal, everyday laundromat where people from all backgrounds come to take care of their laundry without any trouble. I've never felt unsafe while here, and I encourage others to keep supporting local businesses like Lupita because our community thrives when we show up for one another. Whether you're stopping by during the day or early evening, I've always found the environment to be respectful and calm . Everyone looks out for one another here, and you can truly feel that sense of community and make you feel like your family. Highly recommended if you want a dependable, down-to-earth place to wash and dry your clothes -- you'll feel safe, welcomed, and supported.

On Michigan at W Grand Blvd, this laundromat is not in the most desirable area. ESPECIALLY if you are taking advantage of the 24 hours factor and coming here late night. I would definitely not advise that. But on a light post-daylight savings time evening when I needed some laundry done fast, and knowing that my usual laundromat on Vernor closed early, I decided to just brave it. I only had one load to throw in. I was pleasantly surprised! Street parking put me right in front so I had full view of my car the whole time (and no...my car is NOT the beat up white one in the picture on here lol). Inside, I found a very large selection of various load sized washers and dryers. Considering I've yet to ever see a 24 hour laundromat that is squeaky clean, this place is pretty well kept up. There were a lot of families in here, with the kids running around playing and watching spanish television on the one small TV while their parents did the wash. I brought a book to bide my time. The regular top load washers are only a dollar per load - CONSIDERABLY cheaper than what I've been paying at Lupita's on Vernor. There was a gentleman working there, walking around and spot cleaning and just providing general service. He kept to himself but was working the entire time, and had a kind face and smile. There are a few vending machines for both snacks and detergant. It almost made me feel bad for writing the Coin-O-Matic off as being a shady pit, which was honestly the impression I always got just from driving by. Because it's not in the best area, I would forewarn anyone who gets real anxious around that type of environment. Also, I would never go (especially by myself) late at night. But it is really SO much cheaper than the place I had been going (where i paid about $3 per load just to wash), so I just may switch and start coming here. But I will make sure it is during daylight hours. :)

They seem to do brisk business here but it isn't usually crammed with people. There's a lot of residential here near the University but almost all the buildings have machines. Still, if someone's already doing laundry or if you wanna knock out multiple loads in an oversized machine CCCL has got you covered. The Bronx Bar and Marcus Market are also conveniently located across the street if you're looking to pick up some essentials or kill time with a brew or burger while doing the wash. This laundromat is clean and bright and now has multiple murals adding splashes of color to the walls. They still rock the classic Ms. PAC Man/Galaga machine. I recommend Galaga as the down on the joystick doesn't work too well and you don't even need that direction for Galaga. Disappointingly, pinball wasn't plugged in on my last visit. Presumably it's out of order. I'd come here more if I actually did laundry when the sun was up instead of during the wee hours.

MI EZ Laundromat - Coffee shop vibes laundromat

I didn't look to far into it as I had my old plastic coffee jug I put Mario on with a mess of quarters and other shiny round bits I have to sift through. The furniture and walls have real coffeehouse vibes. It's funny a color close to the avocado green my parents had a matching washer and dryer in back in the super 70s adorns the freshly painted modern walls in Mi EZ Laundromat. Speaking of the 70s the music video channel on the tv had The Bee Gees singing about Stayin Alive, along with newer acts like Meghan Trainor and Carly Rae Jepsen. There was all manner of catchy, middle of the road pop hits spanning decades from the 70s to the 2010s. There might have even been a 60s song mixed in though I can't remember what. This laundromat is part of a cute little commercial strip a bit off the beaten path that, as an eastsider I'm not familiar with. It was around 10 at night when I walked through the doors of this 24 hour establishment so mostly everything else was shut down - apart from the 7 Eleven. Always handy having one of those near a laundromat. There were 4 other patrons besides me despite the late hour so it seems like this new business is doing okay with staying open late. My one beef with this place is there's not enough tables for folding clothes and they're located about as far from the dryers as possible! It kinda ruined my whole maiden voyage here. I'm in and out of those dryers a lot, snatching out clothes as they dry to speed up the whole process- boxers are usually done first, followed by t shirts and sheets. By the end it's usually just a couple of thick sweaters and hoodies tumbling around and I've got just about everything else folded. Well, I'm not trying to constantly walk all the way across the whole room so I ended up folding most of my shirts on top of the washing machines which was pretty awkward and wouldn't even have been possible if they were busy. That, along with a location I don't find myself near much makes me doubt if I'll be back. If you live near here, though, and aren't partial to my impatient grabby hands speed drying technique you might like this laundromat a lot.

Downtown Detroit

Well I checked for alterations in my area, three came up. The first told me there was no way he could fix my zipper that day (which frankly is bs as it takes less than an hour and I was willing to pay extra, but I digress). The second shop didn't even have a tailor on site! What nonsense! Finally, after two and a half hours of walking around Detroit, I came to this lovely shop. I walked in, about to burst into tears at the thought of my ruined plans, and begged if there was any way he could fix my zipper. I didn't care what it looked like, I just needed to wear it. "If course I can! Give me your name and number, it'll be ready in an hour". So much weight was just lifted off of my shoulders. You see, you can't go to a fancy restaurant in ratty shorts and a stained tank top (Starbucks and bumps in the sidewalk don't mix). My boyfriend and I walked around the corner and grabbed a beer while we waited. Half a pint and about 20 minutes later, I was greeted with a text that said my garment was ready. When I sent a text to say we'd be there shortly and he had my eternal thanks, I got a simple text back: "it's what I DO!" My dress looks beautiful. It was masterfully altered. I am beyond grateful that this wonderful man decided to help me. He knows what's he's doing, he's kind and very gracious. I am beyond tempted to bring all of my alteration needs across the border just to bring this man my business. I hope that anyone reading this is moved to his shop as well. You will not be disappointed.

I first heard of this place because I was looking for quick alterations on my Halloween costume…read more My costume was too long so I needed them shortened, Clark (the owner) agreed to do in just a couple of hours and even delivered it to my office (which was only a few blocks from his shop) so I said okay to $30. He did alright on my costume, although I wasn't too worried about it since I was probably only going to wear it once. I then decided to give Clark another try on a pair of jeans I just got from Madewell because I needed them done in the next two days (sidenote: Madewell will hem any pair of pants you purchase from them, but unfortunately I also needed some tapering). When I arrived at his shop to drop my pair of jeans, I had an unsettling feeling in my stomach as if I should just turn around and bring my jeans elsewhere for a number of reasons: 1.) His shop is so unorganized located in an abandoned building (220 Bagley Ave.), there were piles of clothes carelessly stacked on the floor which basically took up 2/10 of his shop, 2.) After I tried the jeans on so he can measure/pin it, he disappeared into the back for almost 5 minutes. I waited and waited until I finally rang the doorbell again to remind him that I was still waiting, 3.) Finally, Clark didn't even have the proper pins to mark it, which I thought was unacceptable for a tailor! He just held my jeans to where I said I wanted them and then told me "I've got it." But I insisted that he use pins or something to mark where I wanted it to start and how tight I wanted it around my ankles. To my surprise, Clark called me within two hours and told me my jeans are ready and he will drop them off at the lobby of my office. I didn't have time to inspect it prior to giving Clark my payment, but when I had a chance to look at it later that day, it was very obvious that the job was VERY POORLY DONE. I didn't have to try it on to notice that the cut itself did not gradually get slimmer at the end like I would expect from a tapering job, rather the bottom of the pants bluntly got tighter- it looked like an amateur's work. Furthermore, I examined the sewing and it was noticeable that the thread was loose and carelessly uneven. I called Clark and expressed my utter disappointment and asked for my money back. He simply replied with "No, I can't do that". Be forewarned, Clark is a scammer! You are better off going to Eddie's Alterations in Royal Oak. I've had most of my alterations done by Eddie. He is very meticulous, does an amazing stitch work, and the clothes always come back so much better. But he does take some time, which is why I tried Clark to begin with - big mistake!
