** DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT ** THEY ARE THIEVES ** Martin's Family Appliance Center was hired to fix a Maytag washer model number MVW7230HW0 that was showing an error code F8E1 "No water detected". Original work order is dated Nov. 14, 2023 at 12:15pm. Service call was paid for, including charge for replacement valve. It is now Dec. 8, 2023, and still no part, still no service. We have called Martin's several times over the past weeks. Each time, we are told that the "part is on order". This morning, I called and spoke with Cory, who claims to be in charge of ordering parts. He said part was ordered yesterday, (in response to yesterday's call, apparently), and there is nothing that can be done until part is delivered. This begs the question of why part was ordered yesterday and not following the Nov. 14 service call. Finally, this morning, I asked for the part number to see if I could find it from another source. Instead of being provided the part number, I was passed off to someone else at Martin's. He flat-out refused to provide the part number, said I'd have to wait, then hung up. In all my years of dealing with service providers (I'm 55 years old), this is by far the worst service attitude I have ever encountered, including airlines (a very low bar). Martin's Saved the Day!!! Yesterday, 12/27/23, noticed our refrigerator was getting warm! This morning we went to Martin's Appliance. Rodrick met us. Asked what size refrigerator we wanted. He looked us up in their records, our last one we purchased in 1999!! It had lasted 24 years!!! Can't complain about that!! We needed it today and they were all booked up with deliveries. Rodrick asked Mr. Martin if he could man the store and he would deliver the refrigerator. Less than 1 1/2 hour later Rodrick arrived at our home! Brought the new one in, unloaded old refrigerator. He set everything that we needed on new refrigerator. He also told us he would take care of registering the new refrigerator for us. Now that is service! We are extremely happy. I bought a Whirlpool Induction range from Martin as they were closing, and unloaded it when I got home. I tried to install it but soon realized that the new range was different from the old one (conventional versus slide-in) and would require me to modify my counter as it would not be as simple as sliding out the old one and sliding in the new one. I wanted to return it so I went back to Martin's as soon when they opened the next morning and was told that I could only return it with a restocking fee (about ($375). I asked if they could waive that and was told no. I had the range for about 18 hours but they would not let me return it. I don't understand why. I believe in supporting local businesses, but at what cost? The big box stores would have allowed me to return it. Then while looking up ranges online to understand the differences in ranges I saw that in my ignorance I vastly overpaid for the range. They sold it to me as a $1,999 range that was marked down to $1,475 because it was dented. Online they are selling for $1,235 with free shipping. No retailers were selling them at $1,999, so perhaps Martin's just made that up. I will never, ever, ever again buy anything from Martin's. I like to support a local business when I can instead of chains. That said, I came to Martin's and chose a top and Speed Queen washer. It's still under warranted, but is leaking. Martins flatly refused to honor the warrantee, but told me to call someone else that works on Speed Queen. I did this and there was a factory recall on the washer. I bought a belt for my dryer, they sold me the wrong belt. The belt was not used because the belt did not fit. They refused to let me return the belt, even though they sold me the wrong belt. I told them them I got the correct belt at appliance depot on 6th st for $21 the same belt he charged me $73 for. instantly the salesman got a attitude and the salesman walked away leaving me standing at the counter, Telling me about there no return policy. In 2021 my son and his wife were building a home and we went to Martin Appliances to purchase a washer, dryer and refrigerator. I will give credit to Mr. Martin as he was willing to get the appliances and store them until the house was completed. Why do I only give him 1 star is because he doesn't stand behind his products and he sort of ripped us off. When the appliances were delivered the washer and dryer were installed without the leveling feet. The result was that the washing machine rocked when in spin cycle and the pedestal drawer is hard to open because it sits on the floor. When my called Martin to discuss the rocking washer he was informed to call GE. GE came out to service the unit and informed my son that the model he has was a 2020 model, not the 2021 we thought we ordered. Also, he informed my son that the leveling feet were not installed. When my family called Martin to discuss the situation, he declined to assist and/or never returned phone calls. Now, my wife and I are building a home in Gainesville and we will NOT use Martin Appliances for any reason. Anyone who is considering using them, I say "BUYER BEWARE!" I made the mistake of purchasing a used washer from these people. Long story short, Robert refused to give my money back after 2 machines failed. He said I have to wait 2 weeks even though Martins totally failed to provide me a working machine TWICE! So I stood in front of the store for over 4 hrs warning people about Martins and their substandard merchandise. Robert claims he is the owner of the establishment. He refused to speak to my husband on the phone. He called the police on me, shot a bird at me (most unprofessional.) took pictures of me with his phone, and then took a picture of my tag that's not even my vehicle. I stopped 11 people from spending money there that day (one of which I saw at Lowe's later that same day buying a fridge she was going to buy from Robert.. we saw each other and laughed.) I hope refusing to be fair with me was worth losing 11 customers, ROBERT. One man said he and his wife were coming in to buy several appliances. They went elsewhere after I informed them how badly I was treated by Robert. Too bad there's not a negative star rating on Yelp. One star is way to much for these people. I wish I new the dollar amount that Robert lost that day. I'm sure it was a lot. Buyer beware. My LG stove, which was 3 years old and long out of warranty, had a burner short out on me. I called Martin's (downtown, not off of Tower Road) due to the great reviews & I have to add mine to the list. They ordered the part and after it came in, arranged for installation. Due to manpower & factory shortages from COVID-19, it took about 10 days and of course, problems come in 3's and our Maytag dryer stopped blowing hot air. I called Martin's and was told the same repair person could take care of both in one trip and they were right! Chris had the dryer part in his truck and he gave me the name of someone who could clean the vent so this doesn't happen again. Our 3rd problem was with our LG frig and Chris came back the next day (would've been same day but no one would be home). Unfortunately, the condenser is gone, but Chris was super as usual. If we need any more repairs, will not hesitate to use Martin's again. read more

AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!*** I recently - as in one week ago - purchased a GE washing machine from Martin Appliance Family Line; aka Martin Appliance Family; aka Martin Appliance & More. Not even 24 hours after purchase, MAJOR issues ensued the first - and only - time I used the machine. Contacted the store the next day to request to have the machine picked up. Was told I would have to come in to the store to discuss; I did. When I made it clear I did not want to have the (defective) machine replaced (with the same model the salesman, Robert, kept trying to offer) or to purchase a different model, I was hit with a 25% re-stocking fee to the tune of $162.50. Full disclosure: Yes, the invoice I signed does state there would be such a fee. However, what business choses to enforce a "re-stocking fee" on an item the customer was only in possession of for 24 hours...not to mention a DEFECTIVE item???? THIS PLACE. In addition to the re-stock fee, I also lost $40 for the required "down payment," as well as my original washing machine; which Robert informed me "[had] already been junked" Within 24 hours of being picked up! In retrospect, after reading (alas, too late) many of the online reviews, I would dare to suggest it is quite possible the "new" machine I purchased was more than likely used. Had to be. There were too many issues at play for a "brand new" machine: 1) machine rocked when in use 2) water only filled machine enough to saturate laundry load (a very small load, by the way; three towels and two flat sheets) 3) machine made loud, clanging noises during rinse and spin cycles. I will go even further to suggest it is quite possible the unscrupulous staff of this business will try to repair my "junked" washing machine and attempt to sell it by passing it off as new! I purchased a refrigerator a couple of days ago, and had it delivered this morning. I had a refrigerator that worked, but wanted a larger one to store insulin and extra milk instead of having to go to the stores every couple of days. They ( Martin's appliance outlet) shipped the fridge I chose out this morning, and I plugged it in, and waited for it to get cold to put everything I had in the "new" fridge. It is now 5:20 pm, and the fridge is not even close to being cold. I can't put my medication in it- my meds would go bad. I tried calling Martins appliance- and heard a recording, which asked if I would like to speak to an associate, which I did. And that recording claimed that they were so "busy" (?) and asked me to leave my name and number. That's okay, because I am going to go down there and complain tomorrow. They told me this was a new refrigerator, it was a scratch and dent- which did not bother me. This one does not work at all. Update 4/8/2021- Went to store and told them the fridge did not work- they told me they would bring me another fridge. I purchased a washing machine, sight unseen over the phone and had my handyman pick it up. It arrived broken, it did nothing as it was supposed to for 10 minutes we played with it until finally we got it to take in some water but then it wouldn't spin out. I bailed out the water, determining there's too many things wrong with this washing machine. I called the company the next day and the owner would not even listen to what might be wrong with it he insisted nothing was wrong with it when it left his store, he said he didn't know what we had done to it between the time we picked it up and delivered it to my house. He was not interested in hearing the complaint of how it was broken. He would not let me finish a sentence, I asked if I could exchange this washing machine for another and he said absolutely not. I was very unhappy about the way I was treated. I was willing to do business with the local family business. The location on main Street is a great location, they treat you very nicely there. I ended up having to buy a new washing machine from Lowe's. At this point I own two washing machines. One that works, the other not even. I knew the owner would not work with me so I contacted Visa and I disputed the sale through them and they got me my money back a week and a half later.Meanwhile I had my handyman return the junk machine back to Martin's and he just left it there. Fortunately it turned out okay for me. I urge you,Do not do business with the location by home Depot on Tower road. My wife and I try to support our local business owners as much as possible. In keeping with that belief, we shopped at the big box stores for a washer, dryer and dishwasher first to gain knowledge of each product. After doing our homework, we went to Martin Appliances in the Home Depot Shopping Center to see what they could offer. Mr. Martin is quite the salesman, funny and swears he knows his stuff about every machine out there and boy can he talk the talk or at least trick you into thinking he can. We bought into all this and ended up making a $2100.00 mistake. Mr. Martin is exactly the salesman you would want in your business because he sure can make the deal but has a very difficult time when issues arises and keeping his word. Mr. Martin failed to return numerous phone calls and message left with his employee's when issues arose from our installation. He blamed the employee's for not giving him the message but the fact is the employee advised me on the phone my message was hand delivered to him. Further, Mr. Martin has a problem telling the truth and keeping his word. We paid to have our new appliances delivered. This was a huge mistake.....his employees showed up and basically stayed on their cell phone the entire time they were at my home. Further during the installation process, the destroyed the transition strip leading from my laundry room to my hall way. Additionally, they broke a landscape light outside by putting the washer on top of it. Mr. Martin did nothing to fix or repair any of these items. They then installed the dishwasher and failed to tighten the hose to the water outlet under the sink and then didn't turn the water back on. My wife tried to use the dishwasher twice and each time no water came into the dishwasher. I called Mr. Martin regarding this issue a few days after it was installed. He gave me every excuse as to why he couldn't get anyone out to look at it until 5 days later because he employee was out of town dealing with a custody issue. He told me he would call me on Saturday to tell me when he could get someone out. He never called as promised. My wife called him and he advised no one had contacted me and he denied ever speaking to me. I then called him and reminded him of our conversation and he suddenly remembered but not before he insulted my wife and said she has an attitude problem. I informed him that anyone who spent the amount of money with his business and dealt with his lies and ongoing issues would have the same issues with him. He then told me he would send someone out on Sunday. I advised him when I left my message on Friday, I advised his employee I needed the dishwasher fixed prior to Sunday due to a BBQ at my home. I told him Sunday would not work. Mr. Martin then advised he would get another employee out on Monday to look at the issue and due to my issues, he would refund $100.00 of my money. The employee showed up on Monday, and advised me he found the issue. He advised the employee who installed the dishwasher failed to hook up the hose correctly to the water outlet, and failed to tighten it or put plumbing tape as he was trained to do so. The employee then advised that the employee who installed the appliances had not followed the training he was given when he was trained to install appliances. He completed the task and then ran the dishwasher without issue. After more than a month of no refund, my wife and I stopped by to see Mr. Martin regarding our refund. He advised we were not getting a refund because his employee told him it was our fault. I asked Mr. Martin why he had not reached out to me to let me know if this was the case. Mr. Martin advised he didn't think he needed to because he was told we were embarrassed at what had happened. I advised Mr. Martin that made no sense to me since his employees installed the appliances so why would I have any kind of embarrassment regarding this matter. He again blamed his employee as he always does and could not answer my questions. He then stated he does not install appliances and knows nothing about it so he has to go by what he is told. I find this ironic with the length of time this business has been around. It was just yet another excuse of many that Mr. Martin had the duration of our issues. The employee in question, who came to repair the dishwasher was working the day I went to the business. Mr. Martin refused to bring him out so we could both speak to him due to the fact that Mr. Martin knew he was being deceitful. After a heated discussion with Mr. Martin due to him calling my wife and myself names, and lying to us repeatedly we left his store and made sure he was aware we would share our experience and he stated go ahead he did not care. After a couple of weeks our refund of $100.00 arrived. My advice is to stay far away from Martin Appliances. Mr. Martin cannot be trusted and does not keep his word. Right now I'm thumbing through a service manual for an electric dryer, one that was posted to a DIY site and one that is clearly meant for the use of an actual electrician, not a poor schlub like myself. And why am I doing something so foolhardy and clearly destined for failure, you ask? Why, because the good folks at Martin Appliance Center keep making appointments with me that they fail to honor! To explain further: I bought a plug from them, which I attempted to return the next day unopened w/ receipt. They couldn't return my money, but they offered me store credit. I used the store credit towards a service call which literally consisted of a gentleman attaching a hose to a pipe in the back of the dryer, so I'm pretty glad that I didn't have to shell out $80 for that (it came out to about $65). However, there was still an issue with the dryer's electric board, and after getting absolutely nowhere with LG customer service, I called Martin's again to explain that I needed someone to return. I was told both by phone and in person, and I quote, "I'm 99% sure of what your problem is just by listening to you, but I want to come by myself and look at the machine before you order the part. After that, you can order it and we'll install it for free. Let me write down your information and I'll be out there this Sunday." Sounds fabu! ... the problem is that they've never come, despite multiple in-person visits and numerous phone calls. The excuses have been varied--they run the gamut from claims of a wrong phone number given to a simple "Sorry, I forgot." Heck, at this point, I'd be more than happy to pay for the service call, but I can't even get anyone on the phone to bribe. The last time I called them I reached another business in town incidentally also called Martin's Appliances. They gave me the correct number, but not before letting me know that they regularly get misdirected calls complaining about unfulfilled service calls which are meant for this store. Ominous. EDIT: Thanks to the service manual, the help of my wonderful husband, my Dyson vacuum and its various attachments and some persistence, I managed to clean enough lint out of the dryer to get it working again. I am very disappointed in my dishwasher. I went to Martin appliance because I was fed up with the "BIG BOX" store quality.I thought that using a local small business I would get better merchandise and service. Not so here at Martin's appliance by The Home Depot. I have spent $700.00 so far in two years and I never know when my dishwasher is going to work. When I went to talk with him about it face to face he was rude, kept interrupting me and frankly, didn't care. He was almost manic with enthusiasm, making great claims when I purchased the appliance but since I have a problem with the dishwasher he is a very different person. Ditto to the review by Domenick. I purchased a used washer ($250.00) from Gary Martin (owner) 3-18-13. Gary assured me and even continued to woe and cater to my partner that, his exact words were "I'm very proud of this washer to be honest", "you better hurry, someone's gonna snatch it up". Since they said it would cost basically a million dollars to deliver and install, we had to get a friend with a truck to help us. The washer came with a 90 day warranty (note: warranty ONLY covers the service call, which Joey (kid who answered the phone today) claims is the cheapest in town, rate $89.99, I will be checking tomorrow regarding this statement). The parts and labour is additional charge not covered under their warranty. Fast forward 95 days, yes only 5 days outside of warranty, Sunday night 6-23-13 the washer stopped spinning right in the middle of washing clothes. Perfect! I called and spoke to Joey first thing this morning 6-24-13. Joey answered the phone and I told him what happened with the washer not working only a few days outside of warranty. Then he replies with "wait one sec", keep in mind, I called using my work phone, I heard this guy talking to other people in the background not related to my issue at all. He proceeds to get back on the phone and his next words were: "oh yea that is a bummer being only a couple days outside of it, huh?...OK we dont have any service calls available today but can check it out tomorrow"...I replied "ok, well is it free?" You know what comes next , "we can't help you outside of warranty", this is when I asked if he was going to tell me now or after they showed up at my house that I had to pay for it? He ignored me of course and so I proceeded to tell him that I read all the reviews online and everything they said was coming true to me! He didn't care about the reviews and in fact encouraged me to write one myself, if I didn't like the service! You know, you just can't make this stuff up...I did bring to his attention that by the time I pay for the $90 service call, plus parts and labour, I would have paid the same I paid for the washer 95 days ago. Again, wasted on deaf ears. Solution: We decided to figure out how to fix this ourself, it can't be that difficult and sure enough, it isn't...after some digging and a few youtube video's later we know exactly what the issue is, we even opened up the washer to make 100% sure it was that issue. We looked up the part, which shows to be about $20 bucks and after watching the DIY youtube video's discovered it will take less then 15 mins to install. To try and give Martin's the fairest of opportunities to make good by this, I plan to reach out to Gary tomorrow, he talked a big talk about this washer, I want to hear exactly what his reply is. To be fair, I will make sure to let him know I left this review but if he can make good by this (honestly, now that we know how to fix it, we would be satisfied with them providing the cheap part for free...as a good will effort, it's never too late to turn things around). If he does that, I will let him know I plan to update this review. It will depend on the outcome that shows which way this can go..down the path of continuing to dump on his clients, or perhaps he can turn it around. Let's hope for the lather. Let me tell my experience with Martins Appliance by home depot. So my dryer stopped working due to a broken belt. I called martains appliance and they told me $100 for them to pick it up and diagnose or $50 if I bring it in. I took it in and the turn around was about a week. I was called to pick it up and paid $127 for the belt replacement in addition to the $50. They were kind enough to lend me their dolly to help me offload the dryer when I got home. I did not install the dryer until a couple of days. To my dismay, the dryer will not power on, which was not the reason why I took it in. I went to the store this Saturday and the tech got my address and said he will come to my house and take a look at. He didn't show and did not call after waiting at home for him for more than 4hours. I called the store and the owner was there and he said he will get in touch with the tech. Well, no one called this Saturday or Sunday and no tech stopped by my house. I called Monday and the first call someone hanged up. I called again and they were able to put me in touch with the tech. He promised to be there later on in the afternoon and he called to say he was running behind but I am on the schedule. Waited all afternoon and no one came to repair the dryer. If I had known this was going to be such an ordeal, I could have bought a cheaply used dryer. Buy local, support local business... This is what I get in return as a consumer? This will not have happened had I gone to Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

My mom and I had a really great experience with MARTIN. We really like this company and their new appliance sales (their prices are no different from the big box stores). My mom had them come to her house to fix her stove and they did a great job! I found them to be very knowledgeable, they gave us great advice. The staff was friendly, and very patient with us with all of our questions. She ended up needing a new stove and they gave her a great deal with their "used appliance" sale. When I showed Mr. Martin the ad, he said we NEVER match prices or make ANY PRICE ADJUSTMENTS. The appliance was not delivered at the promised time although they called and arranged to deliver it the next day. When it was installed, there was no final inspection. As a result we have a problem with the machine, the solution for which is a single part. We called three times, once talking with a person who promised a return call. The other two times we called we left messages. Again no return call. After more than a suitable time to return our calls I went to the store to seek a remedy. All the store owner had to say was they had problems getting parts from LG and that us why they had quit selling them (an interesting piece of information that was missing from the conversation when he so cheerfully sold it to us). In frustration, I asked if it also LG's fault that Martin Appliance would not return our calls to which the reply was, "I do not respond well to that." I don't understand how this place stays in business. I think it's because they are a small dealer and can get by without repeat customers. They sell premium appliances at premium prices. If you purchase an appliance from them, hope that nothing goes wrong with it, because they will not provide service, nor will they assist you in obtaining service for the appliance. They will assure you that all you have to do is to give them a call if you have a problem with your appliance during their sales pitch. They sold me a defective appliance and when I called them, they simply told me to contact the manufacturer for service and that they had nothing to do with providing service for the appliance. read more

I'd like to complement the sales staff and service staff; very polite. I do however recommend a higher level of installation training/troubleshooting. Unfortunately, a botched installation caused my brand-new dryer to nearly overheat On the day of installation!! this was remedied in a timely manner with some basic installation engineering by a more experienced employee. Ok, fast forward three weeks. Saturday morning and I realize that the water hose on my brand-new washer has come loose and is gushing water...thank goodness I was home and able to shut the machine off immediately! I called Martin appliance right away and was told they could get to me on Monday.... two days later! Mind you they did the installation and guaranteed it; this was not three weeks after ..... I'll skip the middle part needless to say I had to pay someone else to come out and fix it due to the flooding to avoid any damage.. So here we are Monday 12:45 PM and I still haven't seen or heard a peep from Martin appliance. Too Bad read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the most unorganized place of business (using that term very loosely) that I have ever dealt with in my life. First I purchase a used dryer and they come to deliver it and they drop it down the stairs breaking it. They then LIE to me that they "didn't have all the parts to hook it up" so they would come back the following day. No one ever showed up so I called, only to find out that they had in fact dropped it and it broke so they would replace it. The following week they brought another used dryer to my house only for it to not work properly. It would rarely actually turn on and eventually it stopped turning on all together and started making a burning smell. I call because they obviously brought me the worst dryer they had in the store and they told me a technician would come out to fix or replace it. The day they are to come out, no one shows up again. I call and they say the technician has called out sick and they don't know when he will be back so they will call me. Completely unprofessional staff and they do not care about their customers. I have been going back and forth with them over a working dryer for over a month now. I just want my money back and I'll go somewhere else. read more

Never, never call this business (Martin Appliance Family) for an appliance repair. And never pay them upfront for a repair that has not been completed. Two months later, after I had to make over 10 phone calls and my husband went to the store in person twice, we got a refund of half of what we paid for a repair that they were never able to complete. They could not fix the problem. Their service person was rude and unpleasant as well. My husband made a mistake, he meant to call Martin's Family Appliance on Main St in downtown Gainesville but called this business instead. We will never make this mistake again. read more

I went to their store because I was looking into buying a new washer/dryer to an apartment that I'm renting. My tenant has been complaining about it for a while so I figured I would go to the good folks at Martin and check out their prices. Let me tell you that they're better than any of those big stores like Sears and Lowes! When you go to one of those big stores, it's hard to find someone who can help you. Let alone someone who actually has the knowledge on all those appliances they're selling. Well, the Martin's staff knew every detail of each appliance that I looked into and they truly helped me out. After I bought the units, we set up a date and time that would work out for my tenant. They were very flexible about the installation, which was definitely a plus. My tenant is happy, and so am I. I know where to go if I ever need anything! read more
