Since the installed replacement cost have more than doubled for just a single stage 15 seer system…read moreand 3-4 times higher for an 18+ seer variable speed condenser and air handler system, I began researching different systems and vendors. During this time, I learned that not everyone likes a do-it-yourself like me. Some even said I wanted, "free work." Not true! However, the current installed prices spoke to me. I grabbed my tools! Pulling a local permit as a home owner/builder in Florida, I installed a 2 ton (24k) ACIQ-24-HP32 condenser and ACIQ-24-AH32 air handler, and related mechanical. This system replaced a 26 year old 1.5 ton (18K) Trane XE-1000 condenser and TWGO18A air handler that was showing its age -- like me. One of my main hardware vendors, HVAC direct, patiently worked with me as I learned the new system requirements. With help from Isaiah Luke Appliance Repair to do the final commissioning of the system, the new ACIQ inverter system passed local inspection! The new system is a noticeably quieter and produces considerable heat split by comparison with the previous system. The fact that the ACIQ has a higher BTU rating, (24K) a higher seer rating (18), and yet uses smaller breakers, 30A down to 25A on the outside unit and 30 down to 15 amps for the inside unit and doesn't dim my lights when it runs, says it all. Thanks again to: Isaiah Luke Appliance Repairs!

My washer in my unit was filling with water and wouldn't start up so I called this company to come…read moreout and take a look. I have a tenant in the unit and asked them to call before any work was done. I had an initial charge of 69 dollars to come out and take a look which is very reasonable and competitive with most companies. Once the technician got there they called and left a message. I tried to contact the tech again several times but no one answered. Finally I had to call the company back and let them know I was trying to reach their technician at my unit. The gentleman then quoted me almost $500 stating that it was a very expensive part and so forth. I looked up the part and he was correct the part was $100 but they were charging the rest in labor?! I then let him know I would have to call him back because it was an old washer and dryer and for that cost it maybe best to invest my money elsewhere. After discussing it with my husband we decided to buy a new unit since we rent and would rather not have anymore trouble. Turns out when I called back they had already did the work on my unit!! Without my consent!!! Then charged me $300!! I couldn't believe it and had no choice but to pay. They ripped me off. I will never use them again.

He was knowledgeable and courteous, and he had that reassuring "can do" enthusiasm. He advised me that one appliance needed the attention of an electrician before anything else could be done, so that appliance ended up requiring two trips through no fault of his, but even so he ended up taking care of both appliances basically for the cost of one. It was actually a pleasure to deal with this appliance service!

The Citywide tech did a wonderful job. When I had a leaking…read morerefridgerator shutoff valve, they got us scheduled to allow our problem to be fixed. The tech kept in touch with me, letting me know when he would get there. He made the repairs needed and then checked out the refridgerator to make sure there were no other problems. We were very happy with the work and would recommend Citywide Appliance to anyone.

Based on our experience with Citywide Appliance Repairs, I am suspicious of the 5 star Yelp reviews…read moreof this place. In my opinion these people are incompetent and unethical. We have a 3-year-old Frigidaire sub-zero freezer in our garage. And it works fine if you unplug it for a few hours every day, but that is not the way freezer-human relationships are supposed to work, and I kept nagging Jeff to fix it but he never got around to it, so I called "the guy." Well "the guy" in this case Citywide Appliance Repairs, and he did not know what he was doing when it came to fixing my fridge. He did know what he was doing when he ripped me off for over 160 bucks. So this guy came and for a $69 diagnosis charge he said that it was probably low on Freon. He attaches this little can, about the size of a travel shave cream can, and he keeps turning the valve, but it doesn't really take any pressure from the can. Nothing happens. He closes it up and charges me $159.43. There is no change in the performance of the deep freeze. It is still cooling, but not cooling enough. So I have my husband call them and they say they will contact us the next week when the guy is in our neighborhood. He never calls. We call them a week later and the guy finally calls and says he has done all that he can do, I need to get a new freezer. This is a 3-year-old Frigidaire that I just spent one hundred and sixty dollar for them to fix and that fix did nothing. How is this in any way possible? These people are incompetent and unethical. I would avoid them at all cost. They are a waist of your time and money.

I have a home (Ocala) built in 2002 with two (2) heat pumps The builder-installed heat pumps were…read moreby a no-name manufacturer. Starting in 2006, these units needed annual repairs that started at ~$350 and eventually got as high as $950. So when one of the units died (again) in 2012, I decided enough - replace both units with reliable name brand units. I had several estimates from Ocala-based HVAC companies, but decided to see if a Gainesville-based company would do an install and service. I am very glad that I made the call! Bob and his crew were exceptionally professional. Right off the bat, Bob did a heat load analysis to see what size units were necessary. Unlike most of the local companies (who merely looked at the existing units and offered to replace them with same-sized units), Bob engineered a system that fit the house. Bob and his crew installed Carrier Performance series SEER 15 variable speed indoor and outdoor units + new copper lines + installed new "intelligent" thermostats with humidity-control (a plus in FL) + a high efficiency 4" Honeywell paper filter system + sealed all duct work vents (to prevent conditioned air from escaping into non-living areas) + included a 1-year service contract. For about the same price (+/- $200) as the next lowest bidder (using the same Carrier-brand equipment), proposed to install lower-grade Comfort-series non-variable speed units + a similar dry filter system + reuse old thermostats + reuse old copper lines + no duct work sealing + no maintenance plan. Hmmm . . . which do you think was a better deal? The new systems are much quieter than the old OEM equipment, run less frequently for shorter periods of time and do a better job of maintaining indoor air quality. BTW, when I mention the systems run more quietly (both inside systems and outside coils), let me give a couple examples: (i) Outside coil systems: the OEM systems could be heard literally down the street (at least 3 -4 houses away); the new units can barely be heard from my mailbox; (ii) one of indoor units runs so quietly that the only way to tell it is running is put your ear on the box and listen - quietly!
