MAAAARTHAAAAS! My bf and I stopped ordering pizza for the longest time. We were so tired of feeling ripped off by pizza places in HRM. We were always disappointed with our orders. We feel "if you want it done right, just do it yourself" so we made pizzas homemade for the longest time. Well not tonight! We took a chance on Martha's after seeing their Instagram photos. We ordered the 12" pizza & 12" garlic finger special for $26.49. I was first impressed that they allow 6 toppings! We are not pepperoni & cheese people. We like ingredients on our pies. I ordered a works and GF with bacon and extra donair sauce. Firstly, there was no need to order extra sauce cuz these guys hook you up. They didnt give 2 ounces of sauce to use on your first two fingers and eat the rest dry. They gave me a huge cup plus an extra smaller one (which is the one I ordered). Secondly, GARLIC TOWN! AND CHEESE FO DAYS! Our first bites were garlicky, melty heaven. A final note about the GF - the donair sauce is THICC. They're not stuffing that container into the box, turning it to hot miserable water. The pizza itself was FULLY LOADED! These guys aren't throwing on 4 green peppers n' a mushroom and calling it a day. I had every topping in every bite I took. Also, I ate all my crust!! Why? Because the toppings spread to the very edges! These guys don't skimp! The pizza sauce was flavorful and plentiful. There wasnt any need to spread the extra donair sauce.. cuz that pie aint dry!! But there aint no shame in soaking up all that creamy deliciousness nonetheless. Lastly, the pizza was FULLY COOKED despite the loaded toppings. Who'd-a-thunk a pizza place could figure out NOT serving a RAW works pizza?! Mind = blown. We each ate 1 pizza slice & 2 fingers and were FULL??!?!! Marthas, if you guys consistently deliver a product like this, you have customers for life. BLESS. ***EDIT - We paid extra for an additional topping but they did NOT add the Italian sausage we asked for.

I've ordered from marthas a few times , it has always been delicious. The most recent time I order a Hawaiian pizza and garlic fingers with Parmesan and oregano on em ... Needless to say that was pretty tasty. All their stuff is homemade and very yummy. My number one recommendation from this spot would have to be their hot hamburger!! So friggin' good!!!! It has little crispy onions on top of it and their homemade gravy is fantastic. It's pretty huge and good for sharing!!!! Their coleslaw , also handmade , is very good for those who appreciate a good coleslaw!! They have real Roasted turkey for clubs and hot turkeys while is also pretty damn perfect. I'm a big fan of places that make their own sauces and the majority of their stuff and this place is it!!! They even have a build your own salad with lots of good toppings and they make a great side for the pizza!!!

I love Pete's hard to find unique and import items. If you're looking for respite from the…read morenever-ending monotony that is shopping at the regular grocery stores, I definitely recommend it here. When you walk into the store, the first thing you notice is all the British imported food and snack items.. Reminds me a lot of my childhood and I usually buy something for nostalgia sake. Right beyond that is beverage display case with all sorts of drinks you'd rarely see elsewhere. I especially enjoy their local and import ginger beer selection, as well as Ribena. Beyond that the store is a mixture of exotic cheeses, excellent produce, a deli, health food aisles and the British butchery. This butchery is especially known for its Nova Scotia lamb, which is the best I've bought anywhere around here. The beef steaks are a close second. Needless to say, due to the nature of the products sold here, the prices are exorbitant.. I keep Pete's as a treat to go buy a few luxury food items if I haven't entirely blown my food budget for the month. If my budget hasn't been blown yet, it's sure to be so once I'm done at the Frootique. While many of the items are quite unique, there are many food items that are..items which can be purchased at your regular grocery store for half the price (ie. many of the dairy products). I also think the space the store occupies is much too small... you constantly feel like you're in a traffic jam trying to navigate the narrowly jam packed aisles, and always a hair breadth away from knocking things over.. the store is so cramped, I picture knocking something over as having a domino effect.. dropped a bag of chips?...there goes the whole aisle. The check out staff are fast, friendly and on the ball with keeping registers open. I don't necessarily see this as good customer service, though... since the store is so cramped, if long lines were to form then customers in line to pay would take up half the retail space (I've seen this happen here more than once). I definitely recommend this place, though, even if just to window shop. You might discover something new on every visit.

Unfortunately, most of these new options are all found at good ole Sunnyside Mall*. While Pete's salads are usually a safe bet, sometimes I'm just in the mood for something that is a little closer to home-cooking, and I tend to have found it at Presto. This standalone booth makes fresh soups, salads, paninis and pastas daily, while also bringing in (I assume) perogies, samosas, and other treats. Most of the menu is standard from day-to-day but the soups tend to change up. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and totally helps sell the experience of getting a hearty meal to-go. I've never had a meal here that blew me away but it always did the trick. Filling and healthy-adjacent, it was a great quick option in a pick. That said, the prices are a little steep for what you get. Nonetheless, you'll always be the envy of the office when you show up with one of their delicious soups and flatbread! *Unless you're a Bedford Place kind of person in which case your judgment is already suspect.

Being from Sackville originally (something I don't announce often), I have spent a lot of time in Bedford, considering it was the closest place to shop. Also, I worked in Sunnyside Mall years ago, and now, I find myself working in the mall once again on Sunday afternoons. Presto! - I give you props for making a lot of your food from scratch, I really do. To be honest, the food here HAS gotten better over the years, but I still feel like it is missing something. Here is the main problem: a lot of the food is decent, but I don't find the flavour or quality consistent. Sometimes the food is really flavourful, and other times, it's not so great. Also, the fact that everything is kept cold and is heated in a microwave, takes away from the overall appeal and presentation of the food. Something I will point out, is their impressive selection of hot soups. There are always dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian options available, which is always a plus. (TRY: The Maple, Carrot and Sweet Potato Soup. If nothing else, you MUST try this if they have it. It is delicious, and I find it usually tastes similar every time I order it.)
