Gone is that rustic penny pinching charm, here amidst dull Indiana cornfields is a new menu with bigger pieces than an Irish pub I went to in Irvine, California. At least the service is solid, a surprising lot of American items for the timid, shepherds pie and Guinness stew are somewhat reasonable, albeit $3.50 of ingredients. I can't wait for Town and Gown to get their dinner menu back up. For the present, T&G's Reuben is better, shock. Nine Irish probably doesn't need to ever lower prices but for the value aims and families hoping to fill up the kids be aware! I highly recommend Boomerangs down the block where a fantastic menu and price awareness hold hands.

Good drinks, good beer selection, friendly (if seriously busy) bartenders, decent patio and fantastic inside seating. The decor is wonderful - love the belt-driven fans and the tin ceiling. And the food is really good - the pork tenderloin (brought down from sister bar Digby's was a "grown up" version with flavorful marinated meat encased in a nice breading that refused to crumble off, topped with a mustard sauce and house-made cucumber, onion and jalapeño pickles on a brioche bun that stood up to it all. It's not the tenderloin I had as a kid, but it's a delight for a grown-up. I really like this place, and so does my wife.

Oyster was good, east coast briny does me right. Our Old Fashioneds were insanely expensive without offering any memorable flavors, balance seemed restrained neither giving a forward bite or a smooth sweetness. Strawberry Lemon sprits was similar, an overpriced kid's slushy. Asparagus was fine. Potato sides surprisingly flavorless, we all couldn't believe how dull the potatoes were. My sister's salmon looked half the size of Town and Gown's while costing fifty percent more and offering half the food. She did finish the ocean protein but left most of the rice. Thankfully the desserts were better, bread pudding somewhat dry and needing a sparkle of that smooth actual pudding but the winner was definitely the key lime. Rich and dense, dreamy and tangy, I got happy! Sure the atmosphere and staff is enjoyable, providing some fresh city vibes compared to the homely and old school Mountain Jacks. However Jacks and Mcgraws Steakhouse both do far better as culinary is concerned. Would be exciting to see this place fix up their inconsistency, out of touch pricing, or they'll be the next to go the way of Bowen Bistro during the next economic crash.
