My wedding dress I was completely transforming the neckline, and adding a lot of personal touches to make it special and had already been told by 2 other tailors they wouldn't do it. My reception dress was taking my mom's 1980's style turtle neck and puffy shoulders and turning into a cropped sweetheart dress to party in, again a job both other tailors said absolutely not to. I had Marta hem my finance's dress pants for our rehearsal dinner and she did an amazing job! However, I really want to highlight her tailoring on my silk dress rehearsal dinner look- the top of my dress was too big and I asked if she could take it in from the seams at the shoulders and she did a FANTASTIC JOB! We had an amazing experience with Marta! I consider myself blessed to have found her. Her years of experience, passion, and pride she has for her work really shows. The alterations made on my wedding dress included: bringing in the bodice/ waistline, correctly sewing the shift of the bodice to the embellished layers, fitting the chest, adjusting the hem up in front, adjusting the neckline's appliqué, and adding a three-point bustle (with appliqué hiding them). After the initial fitting appointment, she removed each appliqué by hand (where needed), tacked (temporary stitch) the changes, confirmed at the second fitting, and finalized the alterations by hand. I brought in a simple, one layer, ribbed dress that needed a few inches taken off the bottom. Marta quoted me $30 and asked when I wanted to pick it up. I gave her three weeks since it wasn't urgent so she gave me a receipt with a date & time of when to pick it up. Three weeks later I go to pick it up and Marta is confused, asking what dress I'm referring to, and if I was sure I was supposed to pick it up today. I said yes and pulled out the receipt with the date and time. She casually told me it wasn't ready and when I asked why, she said she didn't put it in her calendar. I told her I needed it for a trip for the next day and she asked if I wanted to come back later that same evening, but I declined and took the dress unaltered. In hindsight, I shouldn't have planned to pick up the dress the day before I needed it, but I thought three weeks would have been plenty of time for a simple hem. read more

MARTA IS AN ANGEL!!!! For my wedding I have TWO dresses. One ballgown, one mermaid. My wedding was August 20, 2016. I didn't get around to getting my dress to a tailor until JULY 15th, because my dress didn't come until the end of June and I had so much stuff going on. I called multiple places and they all said that it wasn't going to be enough time for both dresses, so sorry! I found Marta on Yelp and told her my situation and she said to bring it on in! I walked in and she was nothing but FUN, KIND, PROFESSIONAL, and UNDERSTANDING! My ballgown dress was too big, and the boning that was out in for the chest area created a gap between my chest and the dress. The mermaid dress was a disaster! I saw it and loved it, so I had to buy it "as is" the boning was crooked, the material in the back was falling apart and the fit was all wrong! On top of all that- the church where we were getting married was EXTREMELY conservative so I couldn't wear strapless in the church, and didn't want to get a shaw so she made me a BOLERO FROM SCRATCH! From the most gorgeous lace Alacron material!!! The cherry on top of the cake: I DECIDED TO GO TO NOLA FOR MY BACH AUG 5th-7th, and EUROPE (crazy I know!) AUG 7th-AUG 17th. I told her I'm coming back only three days before my wedding she said NO PROBLEM! I had multiple fittings and she was always prepared and ready to work on time! I got my dress the day after I came back and it was perfect! Only problem* when I went on my trip I lost 8 pounds so the mermaid dress was so big on me! Once again, not a problem! Such an angel she was, she worked on it all night and BROUGHT IT TO MY HOUSE the morning of the 19th! She was fantastic! She's a perfectionist at what she does! I had a few skirts and dresses hemmed since I wrote my review. They came out just as I'd ask Marta to do them. Only bit is it took her awhile to get back to us since I had given her clothes amidst a holiday weekend. Must remember to avoid those times as that's when she gets super busy with everyone wanting their outfits for big weekends sorted. Nevertheless I'm happy with her work -I took one dress that pretty much had to been taken apart entirely to refit me and she did great with it and charged reasonably as well. What I do really appreciate about Marta is she pays attention to detail and goes the extra mile to take care of your clothes as I had another dress that was missing some beading and since I did not have extra beads with me, she readjusted the entire set to make it look even -all that when I said I'd just take care of it myself. If not she would've finished sooner. She did an amazing job. You gotta give that amazing woman some credit. My dress had lace throughout the entire length of the dress and since l'm only 5'3" she had to cut some inches and shorten the pattern on the lace. She fixed the length, took off some boning in the front of the dress, added a bustle, and fixed the sleeves by the underarms. When I got a change to try on my dress after she finished altering it... I almost cried. I felt like a princess. I got married at disney and everyone loved the dress. In fact many of tourist complimented on the dress. I felt amazing...
