Had brunch here yesterday and like one of the other reviews say that they were told that the wait was 30 minutes we were told the same thing but we're sat in 14 minutes! Winning! Their indoor and outdoor is open and you have an option. We Ended up outside which was nice but just a heads up it gets kind of hot in that morning sun. I really enjoyed that they had healthy options. I ordered the Powerhouse omelette and I didn't have to alter it to make it cleaner. Egg whites, no salt and came with fruit. Their fruit is very fresh there and I enjoyed that as well. My boyfriend ordered the Ciabatta breakfast sandwich which he really liked surprisingly he ordered fruit instead of the potatoes I guess my healthy choice was rubbing off LOL Good service and our waitress was funny! read more

Visited this restaurant for the first time today and had lunch. My guest and I both ordered the salmon wrap. Food was pretty good but service was average at best. Our server was polite but only came by once to ask if all was well. When we finished our meal, we waited for 5-10 mins but our server did not return. As another server walked by, I leaned slightly out of the booth, said excuse me but was rudely ignored. I didn't get her name but her arms appeared to be fully tattooed. It's amazing how quickly a rather pleasant dining experience can go off the rails due to a single rude interaction. Food is ok but service needs an overhaul! read more

Unbelievably slow service and wait times for the number of available tables both inside and outside. My wife and I waited with our kids for 35 minutes among a group of 10-12 others while we counted 10 open tables on the patio and 8 sitting empty inside. Our first time here but clearly they have the same customers who comes in because they were greetings individuals by name and also already knowing what they want. I saw staff hugging customers when they walked in like there family. Staff asking about family kids. I was so impressed. So much staff working, im use to places being understaffed and overwhelm but the staff here are laid back and look their jobs. I came here with two of my clients for a breakfast meeting. the place is in the back of a strip mall well on the back of the lot behind the parking. It a good thin one of my dealers knew about it or i would never have found it. Very cool feel inside the patio looked great too. I looked at the Eggs Benedict, but before I ever order that item, I always ask for a sample of the Hollandaise to see if is real or a off shoot concoction. I ordered Eggs Benedict standard two poached eggs perfectly cooked with a little run to the yolk and Canadian bacon on a toasted English muffin. topped with one of the best creamy hollandaise sauce I have had (next to mine) ;) and it stood perfectly on top of the eggs. It came wit a side of special potatoes with onions and peppers was great too. Both of my compadres had Pulled Pork Benedict, each got two poached eggs served with BBQ pork on a toasted English muffin. topped with a cool spicy hollandaise sauce and served with a side of special potatoes with onions and peppers too. We sit down to our highly anticipated breakfast of Eggs Benedict and Fabulous French Toast and - BAM - it hits me: the french toast is greasy and underdone in the middle...the eggs in the Benedict are overdone...the hollendaise is grainy. I tell the waitress, who tells the manager, who ignores the problem... Then I ask the waitress where Chef McClean is and I am told "he is no longer with the company." WHAT? As many of you have read my previous reviews, you know I am a stickler for customer service...and this customer felt served...like a tennis ball off the racquet of Pete Sampras...at 140 MPH... So I come to Yelp and notice all of these really bad reviews that have been showing up in the last week. And I see the pattern. It appears that all of the great things that Marston's promised: great food, acclaimed chef, fresh ingredients, friendly people...all gone in less than a month. Marston's, you lost at least one customer in me...and I can tell from the reaction to your latest decisions that you have lost others, as well. Lying to your customers may work for you in Pasadena, but the Santa Clarita crowd expects more. And you can expect your weekend crowds to dwindle as the unimpressed go back to Eggs and Things and Egg Plantation...hell, we'll head back to IHOP. Came here on Easter Sunday and was lucky that Marston's was still open since it seemed like all the other restaurants were closed! Service was excellent and swift and the ingredients here all seemed really fresh! Plus, they have inside and patio seatings. Ordered Tomato Basil omelette - added chicken for $1.50, replaced toast for French Toast $1.50. I would not order the additional chicken for future orders. The restaurant gave a generous amount of chicken, too generous! I was a little overwhelmed with all the chicken and it took away the flavors of the dish. My replacement French Toast was amazing and I would definitely recommend upgrading it for $1.50 or ordering a full order and share with with your friends. Their French toast is crusty with the additional cornflakes covered all over, yum! I'm glad I came in and got a little taste of this place! Even with my chicken filled omelet, I still like this restaurant. The quality of the food seemed homely and inviting. I can't wait to to come back to try their Happy Hour Menu. I had a great breakfast served by an incredible waitress named Cicila. We were warmly greeted and quickly seated to our booth. For this morning's breakfast I had hot tea that came with the variety of options. My main meal was the Californian omlette. The California came with chicken sausage with spinach onions and tomatoes in the omelette. I had wheat toast and country potatoes to round it out. Don't let this place fool you. From the outside it looks very quaint but when we went in it was already busy with people. The service was great they acknowledge the fact that I was there with a US airman and greeted him with warm regards. I will definitely be back soon! read more

We decided to go here for lunch today, however, I don't think they did their best job, mainly regarding the service. We have always liked the food, and today was no exception. We ordered the California salad and the eggs Benedict Florentine. Again, the food was not the issue. Everything tasted great. However, the service left a lot to be desired. We felt ignored. It took at least 15 minutes for someone to come and ask us for our drink or food order. They brought us a basket of their popovers, without any small plates. My review has five parts: location,  parking,  appearance, general and bottom line. LOCATION: Easy to find at the northeast corner of Newhall Ranch Road and McBean Parkway. PARKING: They have parking close to the entrance. APPEARANCE: The place is clean and has nice wood tables and chairs, as well as booths. Nice ambiance with dim lighting, interesting framed pictures and old-fashioned chalkboard menus. GENERAL: The cheese popovers (bread) is delicious. Black pepper and cheese. Yum. I ordered the Tri-tip sandwich with fries. The meat was well-done as I asked but a little greasy. The sauce on it was good and they included cheese and tomato slices. The French fries were crisp and the ranch dressing was fresh. The waiter regularly stopping by to check on us. The restroom was clean and they have outdoor seating. We were so excited to try Marston's because their menu and photos looked a little more sophisticated than the normal breakfast and brunch foods. Waiting for a table on a Sunday morning wasn't terrible (thankfully). French Toast - 2/5 They were crusted, maybe with bread crumbs? They looked amazing on the plate, but taste and texture wise, it was too crunchy and bland. Even drowning the toast in maple syrup didn't help. Their butter was salted, which also didn't help or compliment the dish. Californian Omelette - 2.5/5 The veggies, cheese and ingredients were fresh.... The taste however was the same story, bland. We added salt, pepper, and even hot sauce. Overall the service was friendly and pretty attentive. If you are the type if person that likes food on the bland side, this might be the place for you. I came here for the morning brunch with a couple girlfriends. We heard a lot about the place so we wanted to give it a shot. We all started with a mimosa, and the server offered us other flavored mimosas which another girl and I decided to try. I got the raspberry and it was very good. Unfortunately she didn't mention that it costs $3 extra for flavored mimosa, which wasn't mentioned to us upon ordering and her offering the other flavors. I ordered a simple plate of eggs bacon toast and potatoes. I usually don't eat potatoes so I asked if I could sub it for a pancake. She told me it would be no problem, and that's exactly what I got. Unfortunately, she didn't mention once again that the sub pancake would be extra. Not only that, it was only one pancake... if I'm getting charged, I would at least like to be given 2.. I was going to my sister's house and decided to get food to go here. The servers are quite rude. I stood there and nobody came to ask me if they could help me. Multiple servers walked past me and though they were somewhat busy (but not chaotic busy), nobody offered to help me even when their hands were free. Finally I had hunt down a server and tell her that I was ready to order. I ordered for myself and my sister and my mom asked for the ravioli. The server looked at my mom confused as if she didn't know they had ravioli and my mom told her it was on their menu list and the server told us that was only for dinner. Well, if somebody would have handed us a menu instead of us grabbing them ourselves we would have known the difference. My mom opted for a salad as well. The server then asked us if it was separate orders and I made it clear it was ALL TOGETHER. So what does she do? Put my order and my mom's order separately. Seriously lady? Then she has the nerve to say that she can't cancel the order and put it all under one check and for us to just pay separately... such bull! I'll give it to them though their salads are very fresh and delicious. They gave us what they call cheese poppers with our salads, they were so good! They're not cheesy at all but so savory. My sister and I were trying to figure out what to categorize them as and we decided they're like croissant muffins. Came here for brunch on Sunday. I was surprised on how small the menu was for breakfast, but i guess you don't need a 100 different options when your only going to order one item. Pulled pork Benedict - i guess if they only had this item on the menu this menu would be just fine. The meat is juicy and the hollandaise sauce works well with the meat. Came here for brunch on a Friday morning with the family. Quaint décor, and beautiful outdoor seating. Marston's is delicious breakfast food done right. They try to keep their use of ingredients simple and modest. I appreciated their pulled pork benedict : tender meat, with a subtle sweetness that was made richer with their hollandaise sauce. It could feel overwhelmingly rich, and could benefit from something contrasting (like spice). Their potatoes are also dang good too! I also appreciated the Macadamia Pancakes and their effort in allowing the nuts to contrast the soft fluffy pancake. Simple. Good. Then there was their infamous French Toast. I love crunchy and well-seasoned French Toast, and this was it. The use of good sourdough as the base is also well received. I feel as if many places are afraid to use sourdough because of its tartness, but Marston's does the SourD French Toast Justice! On any given day, Marston's executes traditional breakfast just right. First time at Marston's and I am excited to go back for our next visit! Awesome service, staff is really nice and very attentive. You are quickly seated and the food comes out shortly after you've placed your order. The food is AMAAAAAAZING! I tried the Pulled Pork Benedict with grilled veggies and potatoes on the side ($11.95) with coffee (their coffee is nice and strong, really good.), my hubby got the Tuna Sandwich with fries on the side (Huge tuna sandwich, tasted really good if you like dill, and good portion of french fries) and my daughter had the Chicken Strips Kid Plate with Fresh Fruit ($5.95) (3 big pieces of chicken strips w/ ranch dressing and a mix of strawberries, raspberries and pineapple fresh fruit mix on the side). Which is yes, you called it delicious pulled pork on English muffin topped with an egg and a spicy hollandaise sauce. It was absolutely amazing. I could go on about JUST the sauce but the truth was that the combination of flavors worked so well together. The portions are HUGE and I always have to have my sweet end so we split the dish along with the "works" French toast. It's their traditional French toast, which is NOT traditional at all. It's thick slices of sourdough dipped in batter and covered in cornflakes. Can you say hot diggity dog!!!! The works has fresh berries, whipped cream and candied pecans that make this already amazing dish out of this world. I love food that has texture and I've never had French toast like this. The bread was cooked perfectly, not soft, and with the cornflake layer added an appetizing crunch. I didn't even use the syrup provided. If you ever find yourself on Valencia, heck it's not that far from the San Fernando valley.. Let me start over. So I haven't been here in years, but I was very pleased with our service and satisfied with the food. We were instantly greeted and seated. When I asked for a different seat other then a booth I was accommodated and moved with no problem. We sat in the bar area and from begging to end our service was excellent. We were never left alone to long and our server and the manager were very nice and checked on us regularly. The menu has many options and the happy hour menu is plentiful. The desert menu had plenty to choose from as well. All things here are very reasonably priced! My only issue was the food. IT WASN'T BAD, but it did not live up to the descriptions in the menu. Let me say that our food was cooked well and tasted ok. First of all the bread they gave us was over seasoned with who knows what and was spongey, our Brussels sprouts were not seasoned, soft and served with some weird mayo. My ribeye was cooked perfectly but with no seasoning so it was just ok, my wife enjoyed her meal. I had a pre-made cream brûlée that was slightly over charred on top and the brownie that my wife had tasted like it was store bought. I will say that our cocktails were fabulous and that our server even made a drink from our directions and that was great as well. So fine bistro type dining it's not. We had a table on the front patio. There's plenty of shade provided by umbrellas but the chairs aren't very comfortable. They have a decent selection of food on their menu. There's enough for variety but Not too much to where you would be indecisive. I ordered "The Californian" omelet and a slice of French toast. The omelette was the perfect size and tasted great. It was full of flavor and not overcooked. It came with a half of an avocado and not just a couple slices like places like Denny's or IHOP would give. The potatoes on the side were cooked with bell peppers and onions. They weren't that great because they were really lacking in flavor. About 3 of them had extra seasoning and spice while the remaining were bland and boring. The French toast, which I was most excited about, was a little bit of a let down. It's crusted in cornflakes and dusted in powdered sugar. I was looking forward to it being crunchy on the outside (which it was) and fluffy on the inside (which it wasn't). It was kind of tough on the inside and lacking flavor...even after the syrup. The presentation is nice and the food is just alright. read more
