Read the reviews and don't understand why it was rated 3.5 stars. I think it deserves a 4. My mom and I wanted to try local seafood after a day at the beach (Jekyll Island). I read about this place and really liked their menu selection. Located outside of Jekyll Island close to the Sidney Lanier Bridge (approximately 2 miles). We had a late lunch so we were seated right away. Love the view on the deck which overlooks the marshy wildlife land. Too bad it was too hot to dine outdoors (95 degrees and humid). Our server got our drink order right away. She asked if we needed any help with the menu which I thought was nice and helpful. I got Sweetwater on tap and Bass in a bottle. I also noticed that they are certified "Wild Georgia Shrimp". I started off with the House Salad with Parmesan Peppercorn dressing (and my mom did the same). My mom also got the crab stew (soup). For dinner I got the Grilled Fish Tacos which had a spicy sauce in a 6 inch tortilla with wasabi coleslaw (you get two tacos) and my side was the spuds (sliced potatoes which is coated and fried, very tasty). My mom got the Shrimp Quesadilla (included grilled shrimp, cheese with a side of sour cream and salsa). We got our food and really enjoyed all of it!! My mom raved about her shrimp quesadilla and soup. She mentioned that the seafood was fresh and cooked just right. I enjoyed my fish tacos. Has great flavor and love the spicy kick of the wasabi sauce. Food was hot and did not have to wait long. Service was excellent, restaurant is very open/clean, and bathrooms clean. We actually came 9 miles out of our way to eat here and we are glad we did. The food was really good. My family order the fish, shrimp, and the chicken over pasta with veggie medley and it was all very good. We did have to wait at least 15-20 mins for our food but that is understandable given the time of day and type of food we ordered. Would definitely recommend and would come back if we ever come back to the area. It was a little pricey. 3 people on my check and it was $53 for a kids shrimp meal, a fish basket and the chicken over pasta but like I said the food was good. The staff had masks on but basically none of them were wearing them correctly. The bartender had it hanging on one ear and wasn't covering his face at all. So I just called (yes....called... I didn't even get a chance to make it in the door) at 9:20 p.m. and was told that the kitchen was closed. However the closing time listed is 10:00 p.m. I asked to speak with the manager and he tried to justify the reason why the kitchen is closed and customers aren't able to order food when they are open.... Basically stating that they do not want to pay the kitchen staff if they are slow and that typically on their slow days (Sunday & Monday) they will close the kitchen around 8-8:30 so that the kitchen staff can clean up and get out of there..... I cannot be the only person who thinks something is wrong with this. I informed the manager of the closing time listed on Yelp & he seemed surprised & stated that he will take that down, but I'm confused because why would you not know what is listed regarding your place of employment and you are a manager?? I'm very disappointed how this was handled. Needless to say, I will not patronize with this business. Maybe someone should do a better job in how they are portrayed and advertised. I brought 10 senior citizens to Marshside Grill yesterday for an 11 AM lunch. We were told to be together we had to sit outside. It was very cold and windy and were told it was covered and would be ok. There were two tables inside that would work but were told it wouldn't work for us because each table had a different waitress. We sat outside and it was cold and loud from the wind. The waitress came back to take our drink order and we asked to be seated inside. We were told no because we were already seated. We asked for coffee to help warm ourselves and was told there was no coffee. We asked if some could be made and were told they were out of coffee. We asked for hot tea and and told no. We ordered our food and continued to be cold. The waitress finally turned on the heat but it only worked for those sitting right under it. While waiting on our food two of the ninety year olds were frozen and went inside to ask for a table. They were told they would be on the bottom of the wait list. So they sat inside to wait. The waitress delivered their food outside and left it there. What??? Food was eventually picked up and delivered to them in their lap to eat with no table. Suffice it to say we will not return. Last Thursday ordered 8 piece chicken finger basket Blackened. The last time I ordered the same thing and it was juicy, cooked well, and seasoned perfectly. But Thursday, it was dry and had burned parts of the pieces (not blackened but burned). The pieces were also extremely small as if someone cut big pieces into little ones. I wish I would have gotten the name of our server- she was amazing! I got the fried full moon platter (shrimp, oysters, scallops and fish). Our side salads were huge and no extra charge; also fresh. Marshside Grill is not perfect, but considering the other options in Brunswick, you should give them a go. The waitress did not know the difference between corn and flour tortillas in reference to the fish tacos ordered, but the grilled fish was excellent. The parking lot is always full when we go to the Marshside Grill, when nothing else that's the best indicator. Like their name implies, they are located on the Marsh and you don't have to go on St Simmons or Jekyll and that's a good thing. If you plan to eat on the deck, make sure you bring knat repellent just in case. The atmosphere is what I'd expect from any popular hangout where mostly locals go; it's loud and nothing fancy. A fun place to grab a seafood dinner! This place is loud, loud, loud, which you should know before you go. That being said, we immediately got a table, the service was pretty prompt and friendly, and it had a fun atmosphere. I got the mahi sandwich, my friend got the mahi tacos, and my non-seafood-eating friend orders tenderloin bites. The mahi sandwich was pretty good. The fish was fresh and delicious! The cheese, which comes unless you ask for it to be left off, was a little weird, and I'd probably leave it off next time. The bun was only ok - a better bun is needed for this good of fish. Wonderful service from Kelley! Before you could finish your drink it was refilled!! Food was great, had the fajita chicken wrap. My husband had the shrimp platter with "spuds". We assumed spuds were mashed potatoes (we are from NH) and were pleasantly surprised to find they are thinly sliced potatoes that are battered and deep fried. Yummy!!! She recommended a local IPA to start, great recommendation! We both ordered the quad seafood platters. Everything was done perfect and super fresh. So I very rarely give 3 stars to a local restaurant....the problem here was some strange menu issues quality of service and quality of food for price. The portions were over priced and small...there is a weird rule on the menu that you can only get 3 refills on a $2 sodas (really...crazy). Service was really slow. I had a seafood platter that lacked the normal local goodness of plentifully seafood I'd say I had a total of s 1/2lb of seafood. I expected closer to 1-1.5lbs for the price. Several of our group had been there previously and recommended the Brunswick stew. I started with a cup of it and highly recommend it.
