We had to take our 13 yo poodle in when she developed stomach issues. We learned that she was diabetic and dispite heroic efforts by Doctor McKay, she slowly declined. She became unresponsive and had to be helped over the Rainbow Bridge. The entire staff helped us as we mourned her passing. I highly recommend them.

First time I went here one of the vet techs freaked out that I brought a snake in I could here her screaming about it (yes vet tech not receptionist) Snake should of been given a enema but I was sent home with a$200 vet bill and a dosage that Dr Sherman said should be ok this snake died over that weekend visit was on a Thursday death was on following Sunday. I decided to give them another chance which was a mistake. Had a rescue I took in with a respiratory infection They wanted to concerts not a culture test I declined x rays they prescribed baytril to be injected daily, I told them I've never done injections before so Dr Sherman said he would show me how, I wait for them to come back noticeably absent was dr Sherman, the vet tech comes in asking me if I wanted to give the injection I told her I didn't Know how but I could watch video later. She reluctantly injected snake while I was there later to find out she did it improperly I called vet after I left and got to a point where I could watch a video and contact another vet for pointers. I then told Dr Sherman what all she did and his response was is the snake dead how is she doing, well New Year's Eve I go to check on her and she is dead .... They may be ok for dogs and cats but idk I do know they are over priced and do not seem to have proper knowledge for reptiles. They also charged me the price of a full 100ml bottle of baytril when i was prescribed under 30ml

Bill was substantially higher than quoted. Second visit was frustrating, in that again the bill was higher than the quote- this time by a little over one hundred dollars. Desk staff was friendly this time, but I did not leave impressed or happy overall, and would not recommend.

A 13 year old coonhound mix born with a huge lump/bone on the top of his head. I fed Char Char his peanut butter and then waited for his angels. I went to healing paws per a recommendation from a friend. The phlebitis occurred during a dental cleaning (that Dr Betty pushed hard for income). Initially went in for a broken tooth which she decided not to pull. I received care from a better vet in a different zip code and I'm so glad I did. My dog has a serious infection caused by incompetence from a vet clinic who will gladly fire you as a client once they're under fire with the law. Be cautious.

It is easy to make appointments here, and the office keeps us up to date on what our animals are…read moredue for: vaccines, etc. Also, they are very understanding when you have trouble getting large dogs to their appointments!  (Let's just say our Great Dane had issues.) Their boarding services are wonderful and very reasonably priced. We felt very comfortable having them take care of our Great Dane after he got neutered knowing he would receive his medication on time and eat quality food. Now to the vet: Dr. Scott Peters has been our family veterinarian for close to two decades. He's maintained the health of our donkeys, horse, dogs, and cats (yes, it gets noisy sometimes out here!). He saw us thru two donkey pregnancies, has a great after-hour emergency service (which we have used more than once), and helped us keep the feral cat population down in our area by spraying/neutering the ferals my mom would trap and bring in (I think most vets would have told her that was crazy to do). If you need veterinarian services in the Ava area, I recommend the Animal Clinic of Ava.

The building itself is clean, and up to date. Just goregous. Staff is helpful, friendly and very caring. Prices are fair and even significantly LOWER! Than other clinics for certain services. I am a professional dog trainer and I travel the contry worh our 24 performing dogs. They are my pets and best friends and they come first. I drive hours out of my way just to visit this clinic and staff. I've had several amazing experiences with multiple staff members, this place never disappoints! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We have an English Bulldog puppy who has been seen by Dr. Mallard and Faith since we adopted him…read more He started to experience some problems and Dr Mallard has acted as our advocate with the MIZZOU veterinary school. He is very knowledgeable, caring and calming (to us) and always takes as much time as we need to understand everything that is going on. We live 1.5 hrs from the clinic and wouldn't dream of changing doctors! Dr Mallard's assistant Faith is awesome as well. She communicates with us and never fails to promptly return our calls.
