Compared to the TJ Maxx just up the escalator, this Marshalls does not shine as bright. With them being so close, and being from the same parent company, it is hard not to compare the two. There were parts of the store that were really unkept, and disorganized. This made it hard to see and get to merchandise. As I got further into the store, the aisles began looking more presentable. For what I was looking for, the selection was not as good as the neighboring TJ Maxx. Both Marshalls and HomeGoods have their own entrances. At a couple of points in the store there are openings to eachother. Signs hanging from the ceiling indicate that you are about to enter the other store. I think merchandise may be taken between stores, but I am not completely sure.
This location had some home decor items that help display Ohio and Indiana spirt/pride. There were pillows with an outline of Ohio on them. There were plaques and signs with both Ohio and Indiana outlines. Many of these items had a woodsy winter look to them. This was a nice and unexpected find.
There was a wide array of home decor items. Many were priced lower than what I was expecting. Their pet department seems to be similarly priced as their other affiliated stores in the area. There is a decent sized selection of goods. My dogs really seem to enjoy the bamboo chew toys that they sell.
I did not look at the clothing during my visit. I did however look at the shoes a bit. For the shoes I was interested in I was unable to find the sizes I was looking for. In a few spots, two separate brands of shoes were on an end cap. Pricing signage was only for one of the brand. This made more expensive shoes seem like they were less. Not all of the pairs of more expensive shoes had prices marked on them.
Parts of this experience were four stars. Other parts were closer to two stars. I left feeling a bit confused, and still am. I guess three stars is appropriate. read more
