In recent years, I started coming to Glendale's East Broadway CVS Pharmacy location with some regularity as I took my mom for whatever this-and-that she needed. It was conveniently close to our P.O. Box, minimal traffic in the area except when the nearby elementary school let out, and the parking situation was usually easy. Because of these reasons, I then found myself shopping for random things because I was in the area. In particular, I frequented them for some of my favorite everyday-used brands/items: contact lens solution, lime juice for making cocktails, past holiday sale candy, shampoo, and toothpaste. Let's get into my latest shopping bags to give you an idea that this place wasn't just a pharmacy!
PURCHASE(S)
Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs 9.6oz Bag ($3.50 x2), Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Spring Sprinkles Miniatures 9.3oz Bag ($3.50), Reese's White Eggs ($1.50): I loved chocolate and peanut butter candy, so why wouldn't I want to raid the shelves once a respective holiday ended usually at 50%-off!? These four bags of Easter-themed candies "should" last me for at least a couple of weeks! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=rWl6cVgn9ZJ-0IvKIeNhlg
Crest 3D White Toothpaste Radiant Mint 3.3oz Tube ($5.00), Hershey's Kisses Milk Chocolate Valentines Day 9.6oz Bag ($1.50), M&Ms Peanut Butter Cupid's Blend 9.48oz Bag ($1.50): My favorite toothpaste brand since I was a kid, I liked the way my mouth tasted after brushing, but I don't know about the whole whitening thing. Plus, my dentist would kill me if he knew how much candy I ate! And again, more candy this time Valentine's Day-themed! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=7o0H_sfZGFjgtRAmc2UwPg
Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner 12floz Bottle ($6.29 x2): I've been using this same shampoo since university because it had a nice fragrance and added some oomph to my fine and new thinning hair. Plus, less places are carrying this exact product, but CVS continued to do so at a wonderful price. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=EAGPhJhCcKvi289qw3Vdpg
SERVICE
I knew where everything was, so I rarely needed any assistance. But once I got to the checkout counter, the staff was friendly enough but never more than they needed to be which was fine. I believed they used to have some self-checkout counters but no more. Easy-peasy - thank you!
PARKING
(FREE): Located in an outdoor strip mall, they shared a sizable lot with several businesses, I usually found a spot. However, if necessary, there appeared to be spaces along the main drag of Broadway and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said.
ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE
Your standard big box convenience store with the pharmacy located along the back wall, the checkout counters right in the front, a refrigerated area towards the back-left wall, the liquor https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=vhuw7vrwurbTeDGP2MlvVg along the front-left wall, and rows upon rows of shelving https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=cdQff_ZvbBDkrXDlQNLqqQ that displayed everything else was in the middle of the entire store. A minimal amount of natural lighting came in through the front glass windows and doors while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while pop music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=CRSJQYS1HoeRtgnW-nOttQ
ATTIRE
Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.
OVERALL
By default, CVS Pharmacy's Glendale East Broadway location had become my favorite pharmacy to go to, and I don't see that changing. The prices were generally comparable except maybe the actual grocery items which I've never bought, I couldn't speak about the pharmacy which I've never used, and the sale on the holiday candy was phenomenal! The many locked-up cases were sad to see, but that was more for a longer social commentary discussion. The one negative I had with them was their mile-long paper receipts loaded with a ton of coupons you probably wouldn't use! But, I felt their loyalty rewards program was pretty good because it seemed like I always qualified for a $5.00 cashback coupon. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $37.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
