My husband's "screwdriver" & my off-menu "dirty little hot chocolate" ;)

My husband came back from the East Coast and because his company pays for travel, he chose to stay here & we had a mini staycation for a week, starting on Valentine's Day. (This is WAAAAAAY nicer than the Hilton by the freeway.) The room is so nice with great lighting (I would've preferred pool or ocean view or a bathroom with a soaking tub but it had a cute window seat & the king sized bed is so comfortable!) The weather was crazy and throwing a tantrum with winds and storm but the guards were so nice, the front desk was nice, the room service and staff are all amazing, the coffee shop staff were sweet, the bar tender was amazing, the restaurant staff was great too! Everyone here was great! Shout out to Robert, the bar tender & his mustache! I came over with my husband wanting a hot chocolate but with alcohol before we went out for the night. He whipped up something sooooo good: I think it was hot chocolate, vanilla vodka, Bailey's & Kahlua? With whipped cream! Omg! An orgasm in my mouth! It's not on the menu but we're calling it the "Dirty little hot chocolate" so you can ask for that if you see Robert and mention me and he'll whip it up for you. ;) Shout out to the room service and the cleaning staff! Y'all are such hard workers! Thank you for always making our bed, changing our sheets & towels and lining our shoes up and even putting our toothbrushes on clean towels & lining up our toiletries! Big tip coming your way! Oh! The gym is decent too! Very important in a hotel! The hot tub and the heated pool were refreshing! Maybe more enjoyable when the weather isn't so windy but who can refuse a hot tub soak to decompress after work? All in all, totally worth the stay! Only thing I wish I could add is a spa with facials, massages, etc but this gives people opportunities to support local businesses so that's ok. Thank you guys!

This is for the Local Currant Bar inside the MLB. Excellent drinks, good food. Awesome service by Christina. Highly recommend.

Accommodations Very nice. Room was very clean and smelled that way! Bed was comfortable and linens/bedding were soft and warm enough. Pillows were great! No obvious stains on the carpet. Bathroom was clean and well designed. Towels were clean and fresh. There was an in room safe and a handheld clothes steamer. Classy. It was nice to have a refrigerator and there was an area on the floor with ice, a water refill station, and a microwave. Really appreciated not having to go down to the lobby to reheat leftovers. The walls are a little thin but not a problem with earplugs lol. Love the window seat where I enjoyed a cabernet nightcap. Love that the location was central to restaurants and pretty good food trucks. Parking Self Parking is $45 per day and the garage is accessible. I believe valet parking is also available. Bar Hotel has a bar in the lobby. A glass of Cabernet was $22 with tip (approximately) but it was really good. Market The on-site Market had Starbucks coffee daily that was included in the stay, and it was delicious and hot! Service Housekeeping, bar, Market, and front desk staff were professional and helpful. Would stay again anytime.

Great experience at the Marriott Long Beach. Super convenient location directly across the street from the convention and boardwalk. Beautifully renovated with quality furnishings. Love the on-site coffee shop with Starbucks. Recommend their pastrami sandwich. The restaurant bar and restaurant is also worth checking out. Spacious gym. Fun pool and hot tub area. Self-service parking available with the attached parking ramp. Beautiful views of the downtown area and ocean.

**currently undergoing renovation 7/4/2024*** Pros: Location is excellent. Customer service is fantastic. Rooms are spacious and clean. Parking garage is easily accessible. Card key requires to operate elevator to rooms. Breakfast, alcohol, and snacks available for purchase. Overall, would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend. Cons: parking is $45/night, you can hear the noisy streets at night, they have some hidden fees that can be used as credit for certain items

The Marriott Long Beach downtown is in a nice location, close to the beach and within walking distance of many restaurants. Unfortunately, the Marriott itself has only one dining location, called Local Current, and that is next to the lobby. Here you can get breakfast lunch and dinner via a limited menu. Nothing impressive. There is no big lobby space and there is limited staff everywhere, including the reception. Getting a bell boy to help with luggage was a chore. There is parking in the hotel structure, but you have to pay daily. There is a market store for coffee or to pick up limited fast eats, juices, soda and water. There is a pool onsite. The rooms are well maintained but the hallways are narrow. The 4 elevators moved fast and minimized wait time. Prices to stay here are high, compared to the competition, where in addition, you get much more, in terms of amenities and facilities.

Great hotel. It can be noisy on the street, but you are in the middle of town so that is expected. Our room was clean and updated. We had a dirty towel so the staff was quick to bring us fresh ones and rectified our concern quickly. My wife's sister in law, Carolyn, would stay here. Which means a lot about the quality of this place. Also, you can see the ocean from our room, which was super cool. Carolyn wouldn't care so much about that, but I thought it was pretty neat!

I have stayed at a few Marriott Properties over the years and this location in LBC is a solid choice for a quick overnighter before my cruise. This hotel is close to the port which is a bonus. The lobby is beautiful and the staff was friendly and attentive. Huge shoutout to Jazmin & Rey at the front desk for going above and beyond to help me print some cruise docs. Life savers indeed! The hotel does have a resort fee but it included a $35 dollar f&b credit. I totally used my credit to buy Starbucks in the lobby, fresh fruit and a few snacks for the cruise. I upgraded to an ocean view on the 8th floor because the room was ready and I arrived earlier than standard 4pm check in time. The room had great natural light, comfy beds and the pillow mist was a thoughtful touch. The pillow mist scent was such a relaxing scent. I'm totally a bath junkie and for a big and tall girl like myself the tub was just okay. The bathroom overall was very spacious which I appreciated. If you're staying in the Long Beach area and want something clean, cozy and convenient I'd definitely recommend this spot.

My wife and I discovered The Modern during a special event right before I proposed, and we knew that if we ever got married, this would be the place. Following our engagement, we had a tour of the place with Mary, and we were 1000% convinced with the place since Mary came with the package lol. The communication throughout the course of our planning was outstanding, and both Abel and Mary addressed all our inquiries and concerns without hesitation and with clear answers. While the conditions of the contract initially seemed rigid, all guidelines and expectations were stated clearly, and both Abel and Mary provided all the support necessary to ensure the vendors understood and executed per the contract accordingly. All terms of the pricing were transparent, and we found the costs to be worth every penny, as we were 1000% satisfied with the venue. Through the course of our two-year planning, Abel and Mary were available and offered the walkthroughs necessary for the vendors and us to plan accordingly and execute an impeccably perfect wedding. Mary did an outstanding job and exerted so much patience with both my Wife and I through the course of food and drink tasting. She assessed our preferences and perfected our specialty cocktails and food menu to reflect my wife, our guests, and I. We appreciated the opportunity to host our rehearsal brunch at their Kitchen and Bar located below the venue. Our guests enjoyed getting a small taste of the delicious food and drinks they'd be having the following day at the actual wedding. The day of the wedding could not have unfolded so perfectly, both aesthetically and logistically. Abel and Mary coordinated and collaborated in unison with our group of vendors, and they really outdid themselves by providing the foundation to our dream wedding, literally. They did an amazing and efficient job at flipping the venue space for the reception. All while our guests were enjoying themselves in the lavish lounge during cocktail hour. The venue itself is perfect. It is very modern, clean, spacious, classy, and their furniture and greenery were the perfect accessories necessary to complete our wedding day. And that's not all. The VIEWS are one of a kind as the venue has an entire wall space made up of windows that overlooks Long Beach Airport and an outdoor terrace that allowed us and our guests to enjoy the views. We literally had airplanes flying up and down during our entire wedding, with a grand exit of us flying off in a helicopter. My wife, our guests, and I cannot believe how perfect the entire day turned out. They will not stop raving about how perfect and beautiful everything turned out. From the food to the drinks and the wonderful bartenders, and of course to how magically, beautiful our wedding was. None of which would have been possible without the fantastic venue, Abel, Mary and their team. While we are saddened to turn the chapter from the wedding planning and wedding, we are so so so happy we chose The Modern. The Modern and team will forever be embedded in our hearts and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Mary, Abel, team, and The Modern!

Walking through the home and gardens truly felt like stepping back in time. There's something incredibly special about being able to see and feel how people lived in the past--it creates a deep sense of connection and nostalgia that's hard to put into words. For me, the visit was also a moment of reflection--appreciating the lives and efforts of those who came before us, and how their contributions shaped the world we live in today. In such a fast-paced, modern era, it felt especially powerful to immerse myself in a place that preserves history so beautifully. I even remembered visiting here as a child, and coming back as an adult gave me a whole new appreciation for it. It's more than just a historical site--it's an experience that invites you to reflect, learn, and reconnect. I highly recommend visiting. It's a beautiful reminder that Long Beach is full of incredible history and hidden gems worth exploring.

I noticed right away that there were a lot of teenagers spending time around the space, and it made perfect sense because the atmosphere has that lively and upbeat energy that teenagers really connect with. The lighting, the open layout, and the way the rooms are arranged all make it easy to move around, talk, and enjoy yourself without feeling crowded or rushed. What really stood out to me was how comfortable it was to simply exist in the space. Nothing felt strict or stiff, and it gave everyone, especially the teenagers I saw, the freedom to be creative, take pictures, and enjoy the moment in their own way. Even though it was my first time visiting The Grand Event, I did not realize how much there was to appreciate until I walked through and saw how thoughtfully everything was put together. I loved how natural it felt to have fun there, and I never doubted that the experience would turn out exactly the way I hoped it would. It honestly reminded me of the same playful excitement I felt at places like Funko Hollywood, where the environment itself makes you feel younger and more energized. I have lived for 24 years, but with the youthful mindset I discovered in the summer of 2024, still physically and mentally 18 with a prefrontal cortex that is more developed than the average 25 year old, I felt completely in sync with the vibe of this place. The Grand Event is one of the most enjoyable and inviting venues I have been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to have fun, feel confident, take pictures, and enjoy an atmosphere that truly supports their creativity.
