I had been wanting to try this spot for sometime and finally did so a couple weekends ago. The staff was wonderfully gracious and friendly, but the food was just so so. Wow, what a great little Mexican Restaurant. I'm not an expert but it seemed very authentic to me, with dishes that you won't see at your more main stream places that are often more Tex Mex. Everything we had was freshly made and delicious. We had the Guacamole, orange and red salsas, potato and cheese enchiladas with verde sauce and the Plato Marquez. Service was friendly and very attentive. This was early afternoon on a Saturday with a moderate crowd. I can't recommend this place enough and can't wait to go back. read more

Marquez continues to be our favorite Mexican restaurant and never disappoints. It's small inside but there's always been seating available as a lot of their business is take out. The service is always great. The servers are nice, professional, and accommodating. We love their horchata. The fajitas are my go-to and my mom loves the chicken enchiladas, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The fajitas always come out sizzling on a skillet. My wife and I have enjoyed the chef/owner's OTHER Marquez restaurant across the tracks in Hammonton, NJ, several times, so we were excited to try the new eatery - we were not disappointed. The tostadas and fajitas were probably the best we've had in Hammonton, which is saying a lot as there are a number of terrific Mexican restaurants in town. Great food aside, the staff including bartender Jay and our server Kimberly were most welcoming and personable. As we left, we encountered the owner, Marquez, who doesn't speak much English (thanks Kimberly for translating) but turns out to be a really nice guy who is pursuing a lifelong dream as a restaurateur. That is something those of us who love Mexican in the Hammonton area can be grateful for - we can't wait to go back! read more

We experienced by far the best food and service with our dinner on 1/31/25. I've never been a fan of refried beans or guacamole but that changed since with our visit. They bring you a basket of fresh homemade tortilla chips with a plate of their refried beans before the meal. Both were excellent! We also had their burritos, one pork with the other being shrimp. We also had their chicken quesadillas. Everything was fantastic along with our server. We also had the chance to meet manager Jay whom you could tell takes great pride in this establishment along with their staff. From the minute we walked in we were greeted. Everyone was so friendly. The inside is not overly decorated which makes it feel cozy. Their chicken quesadilla and beef torta were very good. Serving sizes are large so come hungry. Can't wait to go back and try their churros and horchata. read more

Two stars for service. While the staff was nice, they were insanely overwhelmed with takeout orders and my sandwich took forever to find its way to me. Decided to try out a new place with a work friend. First thing we noticed that it was very hot inside so we were sweating while we were sitting there there is no drink menu. The appetizer was beans and chips which they bring to you. The spicy shrimp was pretty good and they gave you a lot of shrimp. It did end up making my stomach feel a little weird. Don't pass this place by in Hammonton. From the outside you wouldn't think to stop in and check them out but they did not disappoint. We haven't been since the new owners and were excited to check it out. Food was excellent!! We got the steak with rice and beans and it was delicious. Seasoned and cooked just right. Portion sizes were large. The kids ordered quesadillas. One chicken and cheese which was huge. Overstuffed with chicken!! One just plain cheese and it was great as well. The complimentary chips and bean dip was so flavorful. They are also BYOB!! All plus points for this spot. The negatives are the staff there is really young and not very attentive. Once you walk in you weren't greeted right away. Drink orders took getting the waitress's attention to get. They don't have drinks for smaller kids or anyone not wanting soda. Only option is water. So we went next to to the convenient store to grab a Gatorade. After the waitress took our order she never brought our chips. We had to ask another server. She seemed to be the one running things even though she was a high schooler. She (Kimberly) was the main waitress that was running around doing everything. Front counter, takeout orders, waiting tables and running food. Once the food came everything was great just our server did not check back in on us. Our waitress seemed to be overwhelmed for such a small place. Despite the service and the girls not being attentive this place was great. I would definitely recommend checking them out. every time we pass the building the shape of the windows catch my eye. it's a cool looking place and we figured mexican food in hammonton is almost guaranteed to be good so we made the trip and it was definitely worth it. we were sat quickly and it didn't take too long for our waters to come out. we both had verde enchiladas - she got the chicken i got the potato which i had no idea existed. they were a pleasant surprise, enjoyed them thoroughly and my fiancée liked hers as well. the chips and beans they bring to the table were also good, unexpected but nice change from the classic chips and salsa. my only complaint is that there was a fan on high pointed directly at me the entire time. i was cold and our napkins kept flying around hopefully they keep doing good business and can upgrade to air conditioning or ceiling fans instead. we live about 30 minutes away and i'd make the drive again any time so definitely stop in if you get the chance :) read more

Got lunch here. The food was good but it wasn't great. Everything seemed fresh (meat, cilantro, onion), but I wish there was more flavor. My tacos were pretty bland, just onion, cilantro, and pork. I also wish that my chorizo was more flavorful as this is typically a spicer meat. The rice could use a lot of work. Overall probably wouldn't come back but I wasn't unhappy with it. HOLE IN WALL place but food is very good, the staff is "very young and disrespectful". We are older adults and it was dead of winter, they have a broken entry door so its hard to close and open. traffic is non stop thru door, and they put us to sit next to door, when the back was EMPTY! I ask the girl can we sit in back, its too cold up here and she said no, that is for larger groups. We could have been seated ,eaten and left by the time anyone showed up that used the back seating area. How rude and bad for business. Someone needs to tell them to " accommodate your patrons because they are paying money to eat inside !" read more

This is a small little Mexican restaurant with fresh and delicious food. Service is slow and it's always crowded. Be prepared to wait. But it's worth it. Not a lot of seating inside but recommend the tacos, enchiladas and salmon. read more

Stopped by today for a quick take out order for myself and husband. Was a little hesitant to go in because store hours said closed monday's but saw an open sign in the window. So this place is The Best in the neighborhood. If you know the area, you know there's a spanish food restaurant on every corner (or two). Several folks who work the area have been to All the eateries, and they advised me to check out Marquez. We did and it was very good, very authentic to Mexican cuisine, not oily or greasy.
