Most authentic tacos I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.

    Chicken enchiladas in green sauce

The food was great. The portions were huge. The staff was friendly. They make things that aren't on the menu if you ask . They have vegetarian options, make sure you ask. Here is a picture of my husband's chicken enchiladas.

Pulled Pork - highly recommended totally worth the wait.

I stopped here and called in the order. Although I had to wait, the food was delicious and plentiful. I ordered the pulled pork platter. Excellent dish and a little spicy. Looking forward to stopping in soon.

This place is small family run operation. We were all very skeptical, but Las Lomas was closed and we don't like El Mariachi or Fiesta Mexicana which are just slightly better than Chi Chi's. Glad we hung in there because we were rewarded with an awesome meal. The server was the chefs daughter and she was a pleasant young girl who was helpful making selections. Not everything on the menu was available, it depends day to day. We started with guacamole with chips. Took a while because they fried the chips and made the guacamole to order. Huge portion of guacamole that was the best I ever ate. I had the Huarache which our server recommended. It was pork on a thick homemade tortilla with onion, fresh cilantro, avocado and fresh oaxaca cheese. It was a huge portion and awesome! My son Ben had the same and loved it!! My wife had spicy shrimp with rice. It was very spicy and flavorful with like a pound of nice shrimp for like $10. It was also delicious. One son huge steak burrito that he loved. My other had 4 pork tacos which he loved. He was the only person who managed to finish his meal. With drinks, this epic Mexican feast for 5 was $72 including tax! I was so happy with everything I have gave the young lady a $100 and told her to keep the change. Can't wait for another visit!! Go, but understand, this place is not fancy, your plates won't match, her kids may be watching tv from the next table and you'll drink your byob wine out of coffee cups. But who cares, it's about the food!!

So much better than the flat burrito I had when they first opened. Bravo for the improvement. Definitely get that again. Glad I gave them another chance.

Wow!! I just found one of my go-to Mexican restaurants! A couple weeks back I was at a local bar…read morewith a few friends. We were talking about good, authentic Mexican restaurants around. The bartender overheard our conversation and emphatically directed us to La Carreta. Hammonton already has some of the best options for authentic Mexican food and now this one is right at or near the top of the list. The location is great. It's connected to Vinyl Brewing so you can get your food to go and enjoy a beer next door (like I did), however the inside is very cute and welcoming. I love the decorations and the furniture is beautifully finished wood. They also have a few tables outside for dining on nice days. The staff was very nice, apologetic (even though they didn't need to be), and accommodating. I like how the menu is set up as it's very easy to follow. Now for the most important part: the food. Everything we ordered was incredible. Carnitas tacos, chicken burrito, Alambres, and el Toxico torta. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and made to order. The tacos are a La carte so you can order as many or as little as you'd like, and you can mix and match (for now at least)! The carnitas were tender and the tacos had raw and grilled onions. The portion sizes on the burrito, Alambres, and torta were huge and the price was more than reasonable. The Alambres was grilled steak, cheese, onions, and peppers and came with 5 homemade tortillas and rice. The burrito had a very nice sear on the outside giving the tortilla a great crisp. The torta (which I ordered) was great. Grilled ham, breaded steak, chicken, egg, avocado, onion, and tomato. There were so many things I wanted to try on the menu, but I knew that had to be my first order. I wasn't disappointed by any means and now I'm going to have to come back soon to try many more menu items.

Sometimes you've just gotta have a taco...am I right or am I right?! Well, just such a craving hit…read moreme at work the other day. Luckily, I pass by two taco trucks on the drive home from Hammonton, and I decided to give Tacos y Tortas La Carreta a try! Parking is an issue, if you come by way of vehicle. Use the lot if there's room, park on the street if there's not. Tacos y Tortas serves tacos and tortas (duh) as well as quesadillas and sopes. They also have horchata and Jarritos. Today, I ordered one taco al pastor, and one taco carnitas. Let me just say first of all, they get points for even having al pastor and lengua, so that's that. Also, the tacos are $1.50 each, and you can't beat that with a stick! The woman cooking in the truck was sweet and polite. I like that you can sit outside or head inside where there are several tables and a restroom. The food itself, well, I think I've been spoiled by Pancho's in Atlantic City. I found the pastor to be overly oily, and the carnitas to be a bit dry. The tortillas were warm, but not very soft, so I had to forgo them and just eat the meat. Probably most disappointing was that the cilantro wasn't very fresh. I was so looking forward to that savory, cilantro-y taste and smell, and unfortunately it just wasn't there. But, having taco trucks in town is super cool and a great alternative for workday lunch. I would definitely come back to try to quesadillas and sopes.
