Julio's On Main - Vineland, NJ Had lunch here today with my two kids and we were pleasantly surprised. The decor and atmosphere were top-notch--very welcoming and well done. The host and wait staff were all friendly, and our waitress Gianna was especially helpful and attentive throughout our visit. As soon as we sat down, we were given complimentary chips with multiple dips. The chips were great. I was hoping the salsa had a little more heat, but considering it was complimentary, it was still a nice touch. My five-year-old ordered chicken fingers and fries, which he rated a 10/10--so that's saying something. I had the steak tacos with rice and refried beans. I'm a bit of a taco snob from having tried tacos in a lot of places, but these were still a solid 7.5/10 and definitely enjoyable. The menu is very diverse, including family-style taco options, which I really liked. It strikes a good balance between modern appeal and authentic Mexican food. Our total bill came to $30.91 for the two of us, which felt very reasonable. Overall, we'd definitely return--great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. read more

Wow! What a surprise! Located in a strip mall in Vineland, I was surprised to walk into a nicely decorated restaurant. Our server was fantastic, I wish I remembered her name but I think she had pink hair. She was fun and very helpful. Today was my last time going to this restaurant. Often order take out but within our friend group the joke always was, when you pick up go 20 mins late because the food is never ready at time stated when ordering. But today I've lost hope on the service in this place. We got seated today there was 3 tables seated. We sat almost 20 minutes no one came to take our order. I ask the one waitress after she was done waiting on a table next to us and seated after us if we had a waitress, she apologized and said she would get someone. Our server (I believe her name was Amanda) brought such great energy to our visit. She knew the menu well and had great recommendations. This place was clean and a very open feel to it. We got the guacamole with street corn app (it was a special) with chips. It was out of this world. The salsas that were brought out rocked too. The jerk chicken was excellent (was told it was a special, but it should be a regular). The rice and bean bowl was excellent. I liked how I could customize it. Nothing seemed like a bother - was able to get the special (Jerk Chicken) as a protein on any meal, which I appreciated it. They also had a kid's menu. Fountain sodas. Came here this evening with my husband and we really enjoyed it. The owners really out done themselves. I love how they transformed this old little strip mail into something new. They moved into a new unit with a lot more space for indoor and outdoor dining. Very nice decor and ambience set. The food was on point. My fajitas came out sizzling. Can't say I would be back. Always pass this place and say we have to try it so today we did. Many other mexican places in vineland that are much better value. I understand the cost of everything has skyrocketed but maybe a new interior could've waited instead of charging 5$ per empanada and 16$ for chips and guac! I was sticker shocked at the prices. The "street corn" side was canned corn with a squirt of mayonnaise on top....My steak fajita salad had slivers of chip steak on it which were overcooked and tough; precooked so i couldn't order rare. Beautiful place! Owner greeted us at door and noticed my mom with a walker and considerately seated us not far from the door and away from a speaker. Service was good but the food took a long time to come out. (One star off for slow service). Thank goodness for the tortilla chips (freshly made but a little over fried) and nice choice of sauces. Although I love their food, they are very poor with having it ready on time for pick up. We had a get together and ordered food at 2:30 for a 4:45 pick up. We had to wait 25 minutes for the food. Every time I order, it's like this and have learned to add 15 minutes but ordering 2 hours ahead of time and having to wait 25 minutes is ridiculous. I even had to go back because they forgot to put in the guacamole. At that time I talked to the manager and she agreed but offer no discount... didn't even take off the guacamole that I had to go back for. Not happy with their lack of customer service. read more

I had my first dinner in Julio's new dining room last night. Excellent service, delicious food, attractive atmosphere, and fantastic value. Chef/Owner (I am assuming) was helping run food when they were slammed and still found time to come to each table to say hello and ask how everything was. I was really impressed by customer service last night. I liked how they have a separate entrance for take out so the dining room is saved that traffic and the view of stacks of take out bags. Smart. BYOB. They did a really good job on the interior. It's warm, clean, and current. They have a simple light on the table. I can't stand when you go out to eat and there is a bunch of stuff on the table like drink and coffee menus with pictures, cheap fake flowers from the dollar store, etc. It cheapens everything. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they have a decent vegan offering of beyond meat, vegan chicken, beef, and seasoned jack fruit. I am not a big meat eater and you don't find this everywhere. Not only was the food amazing but they were soooo quick.. my one worry was having people miss the party waiting for food.. but that was not the case and we had around 50 people but they def could handle more!! This happens almost every time when they tell you 20 minutes, expect to wait another 40 minutes. Went to the Outlaw's burger place (which is also good) last time I was in the area and I happened to notice Julio's humbly located at the corner. The name clicked in an instance. I had remember seeing it on a "top restaurants in south jersey" on google. I just knew I had to go inside and check it out. I had already eaten so no food was ordered by I definitely grabbed a menu knowing I'd be back next time I was in Vineland. Two items that grabbed my attention immediately were the Empanadas ($3.50 each) and the birria combo, which is a personal mexican favorite of mine. Another standout was the birria pizza which sounded enticing. I told my coworkers we have to come here next time around. Fast forward less than a week later. We finally arrive at Julio's. After looking at the menu, I see one more item that I just know I have to get -- the amazing birria empanadas! I never even knew such a thing existed. Two foods I love combined in one, so I knew it couldn't go wrong. Boy, was I right! After the birria combo (w/ rice and beans) and the birria empanadas arrived, I eagerly tried the empanadas first. All that was missing was a nice bowl of queso for me but everything came out fantastically. The tacos were mouth burningly fresh. I was super excited when I heard about this place from the video posted on the Daily Journal, as there are very few vegan options in this area. I wanted to try the Birria tacos with the vegan broth as advertised by the owner Julio in the video. When we got there, I was told the broth for the Birria vegan tacos was made with meat, and that this is no other option. I was told to "call ahead in the morning so that a vegan broth could be made" and "only the owner knows how to make it." Well, I called early the next day (Sunday), and they said the didn't have a vegan broth again. When I told them about my experience the day before then they said "they were out, and would have more vegan broth Tuesday...." I'm just disappointed that the broth was publicly advertised as vegan, and yet unavailable. I settled for the taco salad with the Jackfruit Al pastor and I enjoyed it. I still want to try the Birria tacos whenever I can catch the owner. Hopefully this can be addressed so it's no longer an issue for the real vegans out there that care. read more

I don't know if they were flour chips and not corn but the texture and flavor were soooo off! Normally that is when I know it won't be good and I should've trusted my gut. We ordered the Queso with Chorizo, it was inedible and it had the consistency of elmers glue. My carnitas tacos were all pork fat. I was trying to find meat.
