My husband said I'm bougie about my Mexican food, and I can't disagree, but this is because I am Mexican-American; so I grew up on mainly Mexican food on the west coast. Being on the east coast I don't have many authentic Mexican food places I go to, but El Nopal is that place for me. The food has never disappointed me. We got tostadas and picadas as apps I got my tostadas with shrimp and absolutely loved it The camarones ala diabla are definitely spicy. Don't underestimate them when they warn you. I'm not sure what is going on with the outside ambiance but it was not welcoming. I was going to stop in but they were playing music from their outside speakers at an obnoxious volume that was echoing off of surrounding buildings. It was so loud we couldn't hear when we opened our car doors. I feel bad for the people living in the area if this is the way they normally play music outside of their main entrance. Definitely overpriced. The food was fine but the prices are pretty outrageous for what it is (e.g., $20 for a basic guacamole and chips). We spent almost $140 for a lunch for our family of four. My soap Azteca was average and the burritos my young boys ordered were also just okay. Salsas were good, as were the aguas de fresa. read more

First off we were here early when nobody was around, the waitress was rushing us since the time we got sat, she came to the table like 3 times in five minutes to see if we were ready, my wife was in the bathroom so we were just getting comfortable, i ordered the cecina especial and it was ok. She ordered the menudo soup, the pancita wasn't cooked all the way, the broth had no flavor whatsoever and it wasn't even cleaned thoroughly, it still had the fat that you supposed to get rid off and it was really tough. After we got the food served the waitress only came once and she wasn't showing interest on us, it was like she was mad we were here. At the end she bought the bill which wasn't that bad, but the only thing that upset us is that she charged 20% on service and the service wasn't even good. Now, i don't mind tipping my waitress and i usually tip 18% to 25% being 18 the lowest based on service, what i really think it's outrageous is the fact that they would charge you service on a table of 2 without letting you know or displaying a sign or disclaimer, i been a server too and i know that after 6 people you can add the tip on the bill but for two people? We went there for the first time tonight! First impressions- very clean and colorful, nicely decorated. The menu is bilingual, but some of the photos puzzled my husband. He ordered the steak fajitas ( his go-to), and I chose between 4 things that stood out for me, selecting the Mole Poblano. Our server struggled with her English, but got the order right. She asked us if we wanted guacamole, and if we preferred spicy or not spicy food. Spice is good! The guacamole was perfectly limed, salted, and accented with the right amounts of cilantro, onion, and jalapeños. The dipping sauces were obviously fresh and made in-house. The green was mild, the red was hot. Tortilla chips were crispy and homemade, as were the tortillas served with our meals. The mole was the BEST ever, smooth, perfectly spiced, and did not have the "burnt chili" flavor I've had other places. I would buy this stuff by the quart! Also, the rice was fluffy, and the chicken beneath thus luxurious mole was tender and juicy. Too often, the chicken is stringy and shredded, this was a whole leg! My husband's steak was also tender and had good flavor. In all, it was a great meal, and i will surely order my chilaquiles next time! read more

I want to start by saying the food is pretty good. Portions are large and I've now been introduced to the wonders of eating cactus - which you could now serve me in basically anything and I'd be a happy camper. The food was pretty good. I got the vegetarian burrito and the BF got a chorizo burrito. I loved mine - see note above about cactus. He was noncommittal on his. We also got a queso appetizer that came sizzling in a cast iron - that was out of this world good. A couple things could be done to improve my dining experience. First, wear masks correctly. When I was in our server, and the person who greeted us at the door, had their masks underneath their nose. Also, turn the music down a notch. It's at a volume where conversation is a challenge and I found myself feeling overwhelmed with the sound. Finally, there was a kid in there (not a customer) playing a loud video game on his phone so, when there was a pause in the music my ears were assaulted with straight up noise. First time going to this Mexican restaurant and it won't be the last time. Was pleasantly surprised how good everything was. I had the chicken enchilada and asked for two sauces as you can see in my pic, and it was delicious! and my side of beans were so good and tasty. The rice was decent but not my favorite thing. I will go back again and again for my meal. My hubby had the steak burrito and it was HUGE and he really enjoyed it. The effort was there not the food or service. The place is a nice Mexican style restaurant. The service was awful just like the food. The waiter was scared and didn't even know how to answer our questions about the dishes that they had. We ordered a Mexican drink and it tasted like water down milk with sugar and when we asked for a different drink they tried to argue with us said we had tasted it and they couldn't do anything. I've never had an experience like this it was awful. My family loves tacos so we opted for that since they couldn't answer any questions about the food. The decorations that were near the table were falling off the walls. Once we got our food let's say I ate it because I felt bad enough for the waiter. It was nasty I can make better tacos at home my toddler son and daughter didn't even like it and they love tacos. 100% do not recommend for nothing. Waste of time and money and way over priced we can go to a better Mexican restaurant family of 4 with paying 50-60 dollars but here wow old your money and stomach it was $103 ridiculous. Figured we would try a new place for lunch. The food was great and very tasty and there was a lot of it. I am a vegetarian and though their menu doesn't accommodate vegetarian food I was able to order off the menu and they substituted the meat for vegetables And I was very pleased. A great new restaurant in Vineland! We visited El Nopal last evening with nothing more than a hunger for Mexican food and a love of chili peppers. I have seen no reviews up to this point. The building is an old bank building. There is no memory of that when you walk in. The walls are bright and cheerful in yellow. The furniture is bright and full of color. Scenes of cactus and haciendas is the chair backs. So cute. The staff was welcoming with big smiles and a real effort to make you happy. My boyfriend had chicken enchiladas verde. The verse sauce was spicy and a beautiful vibrant green. I had chicken enchiladas mole. The mole was delish! The chilies worked with all the other ingredients to create a thick flavorful sauce. A recipe I would love to try to recreate! The tortillas were tender and the chicken cooked to perfection. Even the salsas that we enjoyed with chips while waiting for our dinners were great! Nice to enjoy some authentic food so close to home. Can't wait to try more on the menu. We will definitely be back! read more
