Downright proper Turkish grill, ideal for the carnivores among us. Seldom have restaurants been able to demonstrate mastery of variety meat grilling and Marmaris came through with flying colors. The mixed grill plate featured a surprisingly tender piece if prime lamb chop and chicken breast, nestled in a heaps of doner meats and coleslaw. Highly recommend drenching that with their house hot sauce for that extra kick. Vegetarian? Maybe the lamb knuckle will change your mind about your misguided choice of lifestyle. read more

"Lets go to a pub by the river". Is what we originally said. Quite how we ended up in a Turkish restaurant no where near a river is a bit random. But im very pleased we did. Slap bang in the centre of Bath you'll find Marmaris. Its a restaurant/takeaway servicing Turkish tucker. Upon entering your met with faux doomed ceilings and Turkish artwork adorning the walls. A very friendly (maybe its just me) waitress showed us to our cosy table. There is an excellent choice to be had ranging in price. We all opted for the 3 course set menu consisting of : Mixed mezze pittas, chillies, olives and selection of dippy dips humus tatzickie etc. All freshly made all very tasty. For main I had a chicken sis kebab and chips with salad again this was spot on gorgeous! The creme caramel for dessert was surprisingly just ok. But I think that was a bad choice on my part as im not that keen on it. What was great though was the FREE complimentry turkish delight and fruit salad. This was delicious and had me gurning with pleasure in no time. I have to say come and give this place a go. Whether or not your keen on Turkish food. This place was a real gem of a find! It can be difficult to find affordable family restaurants in Bath. We enjoyed the mixed meze and mixed kebabs platters. The chicken kebab was both flavorful and moist - definitely not overdone! The doner and lamb chops were delicious too. We were completely stuffed, all for less than £10/person! The lunchtime special menu said soup, chicken or lamb kebab, fruit salad or coffee. Didn't sound that inviting but, having read good reports on Trip Adviser, we decided to give it a try. We were given, as we sat down, a tray of pickled chillis, carrots, pitta bread and olives. The soup was an excellent lentil one, the kebabs nicely served with rice, vegetable salad and chilli sauce. We ordered coffee to finish but they brought a plate of fruit salad to share and beautiful Turkish delight as well. I have walked past the Marmaris for years never giving it a second look. Good food, good value, friendly service. Stopped in late with few expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Shortly after sitting down, iced water with lemon and a basket of warm pita arrived, followed quickly by a nice plate of olives and carrots. Our starter of calimari was not much of a wait and proved to be light and not at all chewy, although lacking in salt. Main course Kabab platter was very generous with three kinds of lamb and a chicken Kabab. All were very flavourful and tender. The side salad was a nice bright contrast to the meats. To finish a bowl of fruit salad was perfect.While quality of the food was good, the final tally was equally good particularly for such a tourist town. read more

Positive: They serve decent tasting kebabs. The service is friendly and quick and they give you complimentary treats after the meal consisting of a fresh fruit salad and wit. Negative: The quality and overall care leave something to be desired. I ordered the chicken kebab. The kebab was good, but nothing special. It was average quality meat (a bit too plumped which made it slightly stringy), cooked nice and juicy, but no particularly interesting seasoning. The vegetables were tiny mushrooms and a small piece of pepper where chunky veggies that added more texture and flavour were desperately needed. Some sliced onions and a dull coleslaw were included alongside what was basically just steamed rice, absent any seasoning, colour or flavour that I was wishing for. Perhaps it was an expectation gap for me from reading prior reviews. Overall it wasn't bad, just underwhelming and the price, well, typical England: not exactly a killer deal for what you get. read more

No matter what you might think about the hideous, greasy kebab stores all over this fair nation, this place right next to the weir (round the back of the Guildhall Markets, if that helps) is most certainly the exception to the rule. They are super friendly here and will do their utmost to pack your kebab with all the salad you care for and have a range of fantastic sauces that are really worth trying out. You get the feeling, with all the food freshly prepared and on display behind the glass counter, that this is how kebabs are traditionally made in Turkey. I highly recommend this place, whether you're out of your skull on booze (the normal time to buy a kebab) or stone-cold sober and looking for a quick bite at lunch. read more

Got the midnight munchies after a night on the town? Stop here for a kebab... they have good kebabs, and pepperoncini... They saw how excited I was over the pepperoncini (not a banana pepper, not a jalepeno), they asked if I wanted extra and I said yes. They were very generous with them at no extra charge. The staff were friendly and got our food to us quickly so we didn't rack up our taxi fare. The chips were not as good, so stick to the kebabs. read more

No question about it, Marmaris could only get 5 stars from me. An unassuming frontage (presumably for planning permission reasons, it's in a beautiful spot!) hides a grill capable of cooking more meat simultaneously than I've ever seen in my life. There is a fair wild-west atmosphere at 3am, but when you behold the 6 quid mixed, with lamb shish, chicken shish, lamb kofta and 2 types of donor, you'll be glad you dodged the flying bottles read more

Mamaris is THE place to go for some great naughty grub after a night out!! It's always rammed so fight your way to the front and shout your order, they do great kebabs, chicken burgers, cheeseburgers but the ultimate is chips in pitta..sooooo good!!! I've never been here for a sit down meal but I've heard it is ok..as long as you're expecting to eat in a kebab house restaurant then you get what you expect!!! The guys serving are always friendly and good fun, despite being harrassed by more than several very drunk and very hungry people!!! If you're looking for food when you come out of the club stop here, it's also very central on Pultney Weir and well priced. read more

My local kebab shop/restaurant. A bit more expensive but its worth it in my opinion! Their sit down meals are good too. Special offer at lunch on weekdays is good value - 3 courses. The chilli sauce is not that awful stuff you usually get in most kebab places either! read more

As Gordon Ramsay says, 'consistency is everything'. Have been coming here for years and Marmaris never changes. We always get the chicken kabob and it is ALWAYS cooked perfectly with little sides of turkish coleslaw, pita bread and olives. Delicious, healthy and very affordable, esp. for Bath. I've been in Bath for 15 years and until today only ever been to the takeaway part of Marmaris. Today we ventured into the restaurant for a sit down meal at lunchtime. The best value, tastiest meal I have had in Bath in a long time. Service was very efficient, food was piping hot and great value for money. £16.95 for two without drinks. He had the fixed price menu £6.95 for soup, chicken kebab with chips and coffee and I had soup then vegetarian stew. Pitta bread was on the house. We will definitely be back. read more

Wow. Great find. Late lunch after walking about Bath. Lovely service and very freshly prepared meal. Four of us shared a four-course kebab sampler with a hummus appetizer. My son and I spent the day in Bath and happily found Marmaris around lunchtime. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced and the portions were generous. Most importantly, the food was great and the service was excellent. I had the Vegetable Moussaka off the price fixe menu. You have a choice of meze plate or soup. I'm sure the soup is good, but the meze plate was really lovely and the moussaka comes with rice and salad. My son enjoyed his lamb which comes with roasted veggies as well. The view of the Pulteney Bridge as we were eating was a bonus. A wonderful place to enjoy a meal. read more

Found this place by accident. Fast & friendly service. Both ordered moussaka. Not bad less tasty than we expected. Various complimentary sides which was nice. Main complaint was being ripped off for two supposidly small black currant & sodas. Arrived as black currant squash & cost me £4. Otherwise ok. read more

If you wanted to be ordered (not shown) to a table that you don't like in a half empty restaurant and have the menu thrown at you on the table, this is the best place to go. I have never seen such level of rudeness and ill manners by a waiter especially at such an old age which was the only reason I tolerated him in the first place. The place was very compact and when I asked for him excuse me while he passed by me, he shouted loudly in front of everybody Not now I am busy like I was begging him. Plenty of other little things that make you feel uncomfortable which I will not go into now. I asked the other lady waitress for the manager, and to my surprise, she said you can talk to him, now I don't know what this means, but I am pretty sure that such an ignorant person cannot run such restaurant, she is probably covering for him. I decide to leave immediately before ordering anything. I was in bath for the first time and for one day only which was very beautiful until it was ruined by this bad choice of restaurant. read more
