I decided to look up a place here on Yelp and came across this place. If you're familiar with the area, to me it felt it was in an odd place. Still, after looking at some pictures I decided to take mom and give this a try. Let me tell you. Although this is a small place, it attracts both Hispanic and the Asian community. For being Mexican-American, I felt like I was out of place for a second but i understood why that small restaurant is so successful. It was a great feeling to see both Hispanics and Asian-Americans enjoy authentic Mexican food. Although small, it is big enough for about 30 sit-in guests. The ambience was mellow. You have a little bit of Hispanic culture on the walls. Pretty cool for being this our first time. The food, let me talk about the food. I had the mixed fajitas with rice, beans, and a small side of veggie and potato salad. It also hada chile toreado and a corn quesadilla. The quesadilla was unexpected. I had it with flour tortillas. That plate was worth the price. I highly recommend it. Mom had the camarones empanizado plate. It came with rice, beans, and a small veggie and potato salad. She enjoyed her place also. Lastly, my brother and father had the torta de carne asada. They also liked it as well. I got a glimpse of dad taking a bite and it seems like they toast the torta bread. So glad the usual place that I wanted to go to was closed. This is what caused me to have to look around for a new place and found this online. Now my kids have gone to the middle school near here and we frequent the shopping center across the street but have for some reason never seen this place. Coming in an hour before closing, everyone was friendly and quick to help us out. We were able to pick our own seats and were handed chips and salsa as well. I had already known what I wanted to try seeing as it was a seafood place but I also wanted to try their meat options. I opted for the shrimp enchiladas with green sauce and a carne asada sope. The star here was the enchiladas. The green sauce that they have created is so flavorful. I was given enough to mix with my rice and wow that brought it over the edge. The spot is a little hidden gem ! This Mexican restaurant has been at this location for about three years. I go down the street every single day and did not see it until I seen a sign that was in back of a truck in the parking lot so the next morning, which was today I stopped by and had some Menudo , we also ordered 2 shrimp tacos and one pancake for the kiddos ! The Menudo was really tasty tell you the honest truth probably one of the best ones I've had in a long time! The shrimp taco was super fresh, handmade, fresh corn tortillas, and they give you a big bottle of chipotle sauce so good!! my two girls had a pancake, pretty fluffy and big. I cut it up and pieces for them and they shared it. Overall, the food was delicious. The service could be a little bit better, but I think the waitress was pretty new. I was on my second bowl of chips and salsa before we got our drinks. .. The chips and salsa were perfect. They always say if the salsa is great at a Mexican restaurant, the food is gonna be better And it was !!! that's salsa was so good ! The food was immaculate!!!! I ordered the caldo de camarón and my husband ordered the carne asada plate . Both were fresh but I have to say my shrimp soup (which is the caldo de camarón) was sooo authentic, the flavors complemented one after another!! The tortillas are freshly made . I called ahead and placed an order for pick up. The staff at the front were nice and I thought the price was fair until I opened my order and felt I paid more than the portion size I got. The ceviche I ordered was fresh but the container it was in didn't contain the liquids well so by the time I ate it most of the liquids were in the bag. As someone who's eaten from many Mexican restaurants / joins over the years in the LA area - I have to say this place is one of the best! BEST shrimp tacos & entree plates, IMO. Plus, the chips & salsa (complimentary w/entrees) - are beyond amazing. I've met the lady owner and the head chef a few times - they're both super nice, professional, and friendly. On today's visit, I was helped by a young lady named Claudia. Very nice, professional, and great customer service. Located in a relatively quiet strip mall across from 99 Ranch, I didn't think much of it. I'm glad curiosity got the best of me and I checked Yelp. I was visiting my Mom and picking up dinner to bring back to my home, 20ish mins away. For that reason, I didn't opt for any item that would be best eaten immediately; crunchy foods such as tacos, nachos, quesadillas or loaded fries. I opted for 5 $7.99 burritos to go: carne asada, chicken, and al pastor. The Hubs didn't think his carne asada burrito was anything special because he wanted guac in it & it must be an up charge because none if them came with it. My Mom liked her carne asada burrito and said it was very tasty. The al pastor was lightly sweet and spicy. Nice chunks of meat and fresh crunchy onion pieces, cilantro, and a perfect ratio of rice and beans. I got 2 gristle pieces but it was otherwise great quality meat. Tried this place for the first time. Based on the two items I tried it is not deserving of 4.6 stars. This is a run of the mill Mexican food place, those rating it may not be familiar with authentic Mexican food cooked at home by grandma's and aunts. A cocktail costs almost $20 and it does not have an amount of seafood that is worth that cost. One shrimp tostada is $11.99, nothing to write home about as far as flavor. Place looks decent enough to have a sit down meal. Service was not friendly but to me that's the least of my worries if a place has good food and fair prices. read more

Hidden gem! I was craving a shrimp burrito and even though it was not in the menu they were able to make it! I guess they had a secret menu which I need to see what else is on there because that burrito was delicious! The restaurant is small but very clean! The server was very polite and welcoming. This little spot has always been our go to Mexican food. We have dined in and order take out. My mother in law from out of town really enjoyed it the next time she visited she returned for dinner. Shrimp Taco : best item of the lot - it had good crunch and hit the spot really well. Fish Taco : shrimp taco was much better - fish wasn't bad but we were better off with shrimp tacos. Chicken Tacos - underwhelming - did not like them at all. Chicken quesadilla - again chicken is not well made . I got a bite which wasn't cooked enough and that ruined the plate for me . My definition for a Tuesday is TACOS . And Marlin has it. I am very pleased with the order I got. Marlin Taco Tuesday deal for $5.99, of course due to pandemic the price went up, it's reasonable. Overall it's my first time trying a new Mexican / taco joint near work. I am very happy with their tacos, it has flavors it's a plus. I have tried many tacos and many asada tacos many of them just taste kind of plain. But Marlin your tacos have flavors and I am surprised and I LIKED IT. I will definitely be back. They also gave me chips it's really fresh tortilla chips. Salsas was tasty, but I feel the green salsa needs a bit more chili or spice maybe it's just me. I really like their red salsa it has a kick to it and it goes with with the taco and chips. Overall I will be back and try out other foods from their menu. First time here at Marlins and it has great ambiance for a small establishment, great music in the back ground. We waited a while for our food but it was worth it, the Menudo I ordered was delicious one of the best I've tasted, my other family members ordered chilaquiles and huevos rancheros and they said it was also delicious to finish off our Sunday breakfast we ordered the cream filled churros and they were very good. FINALLY amazing Mexican food in my hood. I used to drive down to Hawaiian Gardens to get good Mexican food because all the options around here are sub par. This place is AMAZING. Favorites - Gobernador taco - the shrimp they use on is so good! Chunky, fresh and meaty. Then they put a bunch of peppers and toppings on it it's like a mini meal in itself! Sausage and bacon breakfast burrito - holy god so good here. They make the eggs perfect. Super moist and not rubbery like most places plus the bacon is super crispy! (Bonus they serve it ALL DAY!) I've also recently had the Huevos al la Mexicana. Such a perfectly balanced breakfast and the eggs have a nice kick to it from the Serrano pepper.
