This shopping mall seems okay. It could be better organized when it comes to the manner in which products and services are on display within the shopping mall. But it's a good place to go window shopping every once in a while. It's connected to Walmart and has a nice food court spend time in. The rest rooms could be a bit more clean. read more

I felt unsafe here, and as a result, I left earlier than I normally would to avoid being there after sunset. Most places seem dodgier than they really are due to the outdated and dingy building. The Tim Hortons is located away from the food court, with no seating. If you want seating, you need to carry your food awkwardly down the mall to the court. read more

Technically, there is nothing wrong with Marlborough Mall. It's got all the right stores, it's got a great food court and it's decent in size. Crowd wise, however, that's another story. I wandered into Marlborough Mall a couple of weeks ago because I was waiting for someone and I figured I could burn some time in the mall. Despite all the delightful stores they have (Ie. Teopia, The Body Shop, La Senza, Le Chateau), and despite the fact that this is one of the ONLY malls in the city that still has the fun store 'Sanfrancisco' in it, I ended up sitting at the food court people-watching. One word for you guys: SKETCHY. I don't mean to hate, I really don't, but the crowd in this mall is a little disconcerting. Let me paint you a picture: After an hour of sitting in the food court she got up, and walked to a store nearby. She happened to notice a man sitting behind her at the food court, staring, but she politely went around him and was well on her way. She spent about 15 minutes in a jewelry store and then came out, only to notice the same man from the foodcourt waiting for her outside. They looked directly at one another and she kept walking. She then looked back over her shoulder and he was following her. She went into the Shoppers' Drug Mart store on the corner and he ran behind her. She went from store to store, with him either coming in behind her, or waiting at the entrance of the respective stores. "What The Heck???" She wondered, getting a little creeped out. She considered calling mall security but didn't want to make a scene. Finally, as he waited for her outside a store with his back turned, she ran out in the other direction and hid inside a store, watching him pace back and forth outside trying to figure out where she had gone. He eventually left. True Story. My experience at Marlborough Mall and the simple reason as to why I wont be back. My conclusion holds true: SKETCHY. read more

Oooo Marlborough Mall. Such a bitter-sweet place. Located in what is widely considered to be one of the lowest income (and sketchiest) areas of Calgary, it's no wonder this mall has foregone all the trendy clothing boutiques and health-centric food court clients in favor of a who's who of keeping things cheap (hell, the mall is anchored by Sears and WalMart, what do you expect?) to cater to the local needs. That being said, everything that is within the control of the mall is generally rather well kept. Things are clean, organised, and run fairly precise. All in all, the mall ITSELF is rather nice. The issue is the people. Coming from somebody who's worked in the security industry for almost 3 years, and having worked for the company who runs security at Marlborough, I can tell you from experience that this is a job NOBODY wants, and for good reason. I've heard horror stories of entire teams wrestling with drug addicts, homeless people making home in little back hallways where they think they won't be found, and to be honest I'm never even REMOTELY surprised to see police cars in the parking lot (not exactly a rare occurance.) So, in essence, I guess you get what you pay for. Marlborough is a great place to go if you have a small ammount of money you want to stretch a long way. Chances are, you may share the hallways with some slightly unsavory characters, but it's a lot like walking through downtown at night; keep your wits about you and choose your paths, and these issues are easily avoided. read more

I can't explain it, but I really enjoy going to Marlborough Mall. There is nothing about the mall, or the stores inside it, that makes it any better than any other mall. It's a decent size, but nothing fantastic. It has a decent selection of stores, but once again nothing amazing. It has a Walmart, which is either a good or bad thing depending on your preferences. But for some strange reason, I light up at the prospect of going. I will speak to a few stores though that I like. Oddly, being a guy and all, I strongly recommend Studio 2000 for hair products. Their prices are pretty cheap from what I've seen (confirmed by my fiance). Anthony's Jewellers is another good bet. Not the only location in Calgary, and certainly not the only mall location, but I've always found Anthony's in general to be a good jeweller. And, perhaps most importantly, they have a Showcase store. One of those stores that sells "as seen on TV" merchandise. Actually, that's probably why I like this mall so much. And why I don't watch any shopping channels. They recently opened a small Tim Horton's here as well, which was a pleasant surprise. And of course, the aforementioned Walmart. I generally hate going to Walmart, mostly due to the crowds. This location isn't too bad though. Although some of the customers are undesirable, if you know what I mean. I should have worn a cowboy hat! This is the only mall in Canada where you'll find a greeter at Wal-Mart who'll say "Howdy!" at the entrance. Hey, it's Calgary! If you like Wal-Mart, Sears, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Dollarama, then, this is the mall for you. I wouldn't go here for the latest fashion. Unless, you like Randy River or Reitmans. Not a big mall though but it is just an ordinary and usual mall with few necessary businesses and a decent food court. It has a connecting wallmart and shoppers drug mart which makes it look lengthy. And the good thing is that it has dollorama connected to it which is one of the good dollar stores which has a good collection of goods. I am not a big fan of marlborough mall but the good thing about this place is that it is very connective to public transit and has many other places near by like T&T market, canadian tyre, etc. Also we could go around to sundrige from this place. So usually I don't go to just visit this place rather like to visit as one of a bunch. Also this marlborough has a medical professional centre in it where in could go for blood tests or other test through alberta health services which is also open during saturdays unlike many other places in downtown. Never been in a mall with such a creepy crowd..Got followed by some random guy until he turned his head away and I pretty much ran out the store and to my car. Literally ran. Re: Nail Spa I love to give reviews of praises and it is disappointing that I have had my first visit at an establishment that compelled me to actually write the next couple paragraphs. In short, I was poorly treated by one of the employees and it was her work that was subpar. I had been polite with the whole situation but I eventually left feeling discouraged and very small, and I am a tall woman! Know that I get my nails done frequently both regular nail polish and Bio Gel ( A lot healthier than Shellac). Now I know better, I will strongly consider reviews moving forward! I went in on a Saturday, July 30th morning for a Pedicure and Manicure, the woman I had was phenomenal to start, she did my feet great. But the salon had started to fill up and she essentially rushed through my manicure. It was the worst manicure I have ever had. I left there having my hands look like Shmirfs because she rushed too much. I had to call her over twice to fix a nail that was botched, I never even got the protective coat OR the spray from her. Needless to say I was get exasperated so I said I would leave and come back when it was less busy. Keep in mind her services were paid for before she even started, maybe next time I will not do this. Now this past Saturday was the long weekend. I went in yesterday, Tuesday, August 2nd, to have my hands fixed. I had called earlier in the day and was told that the salon closes at 9pm and that I should just make sure I show up before then. I come in, I later realized it was the same girl from Saturday, scolding me telling me how it is regular nail polish, I should have gone with shellac rather than this and that is why the nail polish is bubbling and chipping. Here is what I don't understand... shellac has only been on the market for 5-7 years... before that we used Gel, Acrylic or regular nail polish and never had this problem. I like to get my nails done frequently and I never had this problem with regular nail polish. She did a rush job and then had the audacity to talk down to me and tell me that typing at my desk is what cause my nails to wear out and chip, how is this possible? Considering yesterday was my first day back at the office and my nails were chipped by Sunday!! I was really disappointed and upset to be spoken to in this manner, I have paid my dues and worked in the service industry and my bosses would have never allowed me to speak to a patron/client in this manner. The owner was even using the excuse of cultural differences have different tone indication. To me this is inexcusable as I am a woman of minority and I am acutely aware of tone and how it can be perceived negatively in the service industry. She needs to learn that she cannot speak to other people in that manner. If she wants to point fingers in her family/friends faces then so be it but if she's going to be in the service industry she needs to use proper etiquette and communication! This is not North American specific it is international community courtesy. Hopefully, she can remember our interactions moving forward and try to be more aware of her body language and tone. She went back to her client, the funny thing is I didn't single her out as the one, she must of recognized my face and got defensive. The woman who fixed my hands, according to the boss, is the best and that she was because my hands looked fabulous once I left and I can guarantee that the nail polish will not chip as I type at work (I typed this whole review, no chip) OR the nails tips wear off. She would not accept a tip, which to me was odd but that is her personal decision. read more

The mall needs an update!! I feel a lot of stores are low end, and it attracts a family crowd during the day. The kids play area is very popular and great during cold winter months!! The only thing I like is the Walmart and the dollar store. The mall has a lot of security which is good, because the area is known for crime and a transient population that is a constant issue in this area!! I feel safe during the day, but as soon as it's dark I high tale it out of there; the area is littered with drug dealers/addicts and creepy people at night. If I didn't live in the area I would never go to this mall, I only attend for convenience!! Also I suggest if you're looking into living in this area DON'T!! I can't tell you how many times I called the police because of crime. For example, I found a passed out druggie in my apartment foyer with a large knife beside him. Every weekend transients break into my apartment complex smoke drugs and loiter in the main halls. There are much better neighbourhoods to live in than Marlborough. The rent is low for a reason, avoid the mall and neighborhood if possible read more

I really enjoy Marlborough Mall. Its been a growing Mall ever since i was a little kid in Calgary my Grandma and Grandpa have taken me to this mall. I think the still called it Franklin Mall or something even though its actually Marlborough Mall. But either way its a good mall to get everything you need all in one place. I generally avoid this Wal-Mart...the place is always packed, I was in before Christmas to grab a few things thought, the place was a mess and there were staff standing around chatting instead of doing their jobs. I mentioned that to the cashier and she just passed it off that they were opening the grocery section of the store in a few days so the staff was tired. I didn't know that being tired was a good reason for not doing your job. Any way, I popped in last weekend, the grocery is up and running and looks great, unfortunately the other areas of the store are still a wreck! Hope things get better... read more

I've been going to Marlborough Mall all my life and it hasn't changed that much from all the years I've been to it. They've added a few new additions like other reviewers have stated such as the new mini Tim Hortons thats moved to where "Things Engraved" used to be (I think thats what the store was called) Anyways, its decent in size for a mall and they did some renovations to it a few years ago - nothing exciting. Their food court is decent, but I also hate the weirdos that cram that place up. I don't recommend going there at night...lots of hobos in the area. I went to the 711 nearby there and the guy told me a girl was beat up in the middle of the night in the parking lot for her shoes. This story might scare you away but I don't think such things happen that frequently. I really wish they renovated it more. I also enjoy the San Francisco store there - which they recently relocated and expanded =) Lots of fun things to play with in there. Now that I think of it most of their stores are smaller in size but I do enjoy going to Walmart, haha. The parking is never too bad - from what I can remember. I like how the train station is nearby so you can go to Sunridge Mall or vice versa. But also, stay away from the station at night because it does get a lil scary .. always watch your back! ... besides all those little misfortunes..I don't mind going there to pick up some necessities for my house. read more

Marlborough Mall needs a serious makeover... . It looks so dated and the Marquee M signage is so sunfaded, it's hard to imagine what it once looked like when it was new. The shops inside are low end, but I like going to get my eyebrows threaded at the Curves there. Because I live close by, there are a few convenient shops and vendors that I buy from at Marlborough Mall. I get my computer ink refilled at Island Ink Jet, occasionally, I buy batteries from the Source and I sometimes like to pop into Coles bookstore. I also love that there's a shoe repair shop tucked in behind the food court. They are so good at what they do and lovely people. It would be nice if you could buy a good coffee there, but all that they offer is Timmy Ho's. Maybe one day, it will get a makeover and more people will feel welcomed in instead of feeling intimidated ( personally I don't find it intimidating at all...but some people are very fragile). read more

studio 2000 in marborlough mall is disgusting. I went in last month with my son and little brother; the lady who was using a razor on my son's head (who has blonde hair) used a razor that had black hair all over it. after I noticed I looked in the drawer which holds all of their cutting tools and it was full of hair. I then went over to the lady cutting my brothers hair and her drawers and brushes were full of hair aswell. I asked them and the manager why they don't keep their stuff clean and they denied it, even after I took pictures they denied it and stated that because they use a spray on their products that it is clean. I informed the manager that the lady cutting my son's hair didn't use a spray and had black hair all over the razor, he stated that because the hair was only on the handle it was okay. he did not apologize or try to compensate for my bad service. I told him that I would not pay for the full hair cut my brother got and for the partial hair cut my son got and we went home and finished my son's hair ourselfs. this place is not following health standards. beware. read more

There are better places to shop on the cheap. This mall is far past its best days and at this point it is simply a gross and possibly dangerous place to go and shop. There is not a single store in this mall that makes the trip here worthwhile, nothing unique that makes the trip to this place required. PEOPLE JEWELERS HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER AT THIS MALL!!!!!! They have had my rings for four weeks; I dropped them off on November 10 and was told I would have them back within 10 business days, I received and email letting me know that it would not be ready until Dec 4 (far exceeding 10 business days). Dec 7 I still have not received my rings or any information on them, when I call to ask about them I never get a call back and all I hear is how it is someone else fault, when I ask to speak to a manager they are always "off" for the day. They have all the incorrect information on file for me (a phone number I never had and an address I have never lived at) and I have been telling them for 6 years to change it because none of it is correct and still they have not changed it! NEVER buy anything from them, they are liars and crooks!my wife she is very angry and upset, they got her rings to her today and they were sized wrong if they were even sized at all. We wouldn't really know as the girls who took her rings when she dropped them off never bothered to see what size she needed them sized up, they just threw the ring sizer at her and told her to find one that fit. When she asked how it should fit she was told that the one she had picked out was goo and took the sizer back. How the hell would they know if it was good if they didn't even look at what she had on. My wife and I will be writing a review anywhere we can to advise people on how horrible the service at this store is. We have also found other reviews from other people on how crappy the service is at this location so it is not just us. read more
