Phenomenal work. I offered a small upgrade I was considering and they made sure thr apartment could handle it and what would be required. Professional with light touch recommendations focused on ease of relations after closing. I'm not planning to purchase again in the short term, but I will keep their information handy for anyone I know who needs an inspection. They took nearly all the stress out of purchasing for the first time! read more

We had Chuck Babcock come out to inspect a home we expected to purchase in White Plains earlier in August of this year. We could not have asked for a more professional, detailed, thorough inspection. The report that was submitted to us two days later included detailed photos, very clear explanations. He was available for follow up calls with our questions. He was clear. He was patient. He wasn't alarming, just thorough. My husband and I felt we had a better picture of what we were buying and could plan our budget for repairs accordingly. He helped us feel better about going forward with the purchase of a very old house with good bones. Sadly, after all that, the Seller pulled out but....should we find another home in Westchester to buy - we'd call Mark's Inspections and Chuck Babcock again in a heartbeat. HIGHLY recommend them. read more

Ross handled the inspection of a potential home last week. He was friendly and personable, very thorough, did not rush, and had no problem explaining what he was seeing and suggesting ways to maintain or improve issues. The report he sent the day after was even more detailed and had information on it we didn't even think to ask about! He's also easy to contact and responsive, which we appreciate. I would gladly refer Ross to friends and family in need of a home inspector. read more

Inspector Chuck came to look at the home we eventually bought in August and did not find any large issues. The same we we moved into the home, we noticed a large water leak coming from the furnace flue cleanout in the basement, and there was clear evidence that the leak had been going on for a while (brown water staining). Upon inspection of the chimney, we immediately noticed multiple cracks and large holes on the chimney that were letting in water. The inspector either ignored these obvious issues or did not see them. Either way, we now have to rebuild our chimney, a $6,000 expense. Stay far, far away. read more

I wish I could give more stars but the inspector that came to the house was completely off regarding the condition of the furnace. He said that it could last a few years but after a week of being in the house, it broke down and we were told that if the inspector took a better look, the problem would have been diagnosed sooner. read more

Kevin did an incredible job! He was very detailed in his inspections (we ended up doing 2 separate houses with him) providing a thorough, but prioritized, report of issues with the houses. He was happy to spend the time explaining things and even offered to have a call after we read his report. He really cared that we understand all of the potential maintenance or repair items for the property. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. read more

Just like the other reviewers, we are now finding MAJOR issues that should have been caught by Mark. We purchased the home 3 years ago and are now doing some repairs, which we thought would be minor. Mark and his team missed a TON of water damage that the previous home owner covered up by re-painting. The damage would have taken years and years to happen, so we know it occurred before purchasing the home. There are other things that we now know Mark missed as well. It's really a shame as he was referred to us, and I KNOW she referred him to us in good faith. The home inspection is such a critical piece in the process and we trusted Mark to do right by us. If he had done his job, we would have caught everything ahead of time and used it to close the home deal. Now, we're on the hook for thousands of dollars of damage and repairs that should have been caught had he taken the extra 5 minutes. read more

Awful experience. Inspector did not even look at crawl space and missed major structural issue with concrete slab. They followed up with us trying to reslove things. While he ackowledges that his employess did not do his job, Mark is unwilling to accept any responsibilities for his employess and does a lot of handwaving claiming that everything is how it is supposed to be and repaired well, so there are not damages he is liable for, pointing to his limitation of liability of $500 (the cost of the inspection). So we will have to pursue other avenues to recover damages due their gross negligence. Unfortunate. read more

Appreciated having Ross do the inspection, on very short notice. Ross was very thorough and noticed things that I wouldn't have noticed with the unit and had good suggestions for ways to fix problems and mitigate future problems. He looked at all of the systems (cooling, electrical, plumbing, heating) in great detail and gave every appliance a thorough check, which turned up some big potential problems with one of the appliances. He also was very detail-oriented in his review of the exterior (roof, stucco, ...) and items that needed to be attended to and addressed. He also had useful suggestions on how to improve some of the systems. Ross was also very patient in answering my questions. read more

This is my 2nd time using Mark to do my home inspections, and I must say it's been a pleasure every time; this time he did it for my mother. He greeted us cordially and was super focused on the inspection. He reassured us that at any time we could stop and ask any kinds of questions. He even should us how to use and read certain items in and around the house. As he continued his inspection he pointed out issues that had to be dealt with prior to moving in. Even after he was done we still continued to talk to him as well as asking him any last minute questions. I must say that dealing with him was an ABSOLUTE PLEASURE and his reassurance towards with my mother future investment was phenomenal and on point. He is officially my "go-to-guy" for home inspections. Thank you so much Mark for all that you did! read more

DO NOT USE!!! I REPEAT DO NOT USE!!! Mark is the owner of the company, however, takes no responsibility for those that work under his company name. Rich Perotta performed a home inspection that was subpar and has cost me thousands of dollars and no one wants to own up to it. Be wise and choose another company! read more

We had Ross inspect a home that we are purchasing in Bronxville. In this market time is of the essence. I was able to schedule an inspection in less than 24 hours. Ross was clear and made great recommendations that allowed us to comfortably move forward with the home, knowing what we should address right away and ballpark costs. Highly recommend. read more

We found Mark on our realtor's recommendation to inspect a house we're considering purchasing. He was friendly and professional throughout the entire inspection, pointing out some areas of minor concern and giving us all the info we needed. The sellers realtor deceived us and blatantly lied about a couple things regarding the home that made us pull out of that sale, but once we found a new home Mark met us again and was just as thorough as the first time with what ended up being our home. He pointed out some major concerns that we went back to the new seller to have repaired and would have not noticed without his bring it to our attention. He saved us a small fortune by finding what he did. Mark's a great guy and did an awesome job. We would definitely recommend him to anyone in the area looking for an inspector for their home. read more

We asked for a Buyer's inspection, and were impressed not only with the detail (over 3 hours, crawling over, under and through cramped spaces to look for issues, an extensive report including many photos to further explain issues detected) but also with Chuck's willingness to explain what he was looking for and why it's important. The buyers now have a detailed understanding of how to move forward, including negotiations with the owners about remedies for the issues identified. Well worth the money! read more

Our realtor referred us to Mark...said he was the best and he was! He rearranged his schedule to do an inspection for us the next day. Knowing my husband and I were buying our first home together, he patiently walked us through the inspection process, and carefully explained all the issues he was flagging. We were very grateful to him that he warned us of moisture in the basement. After the walk through, we called him with follow-up questions and he was very good about helping us better understand the issues we were addressing. He saved us from potentially buying a home in a flood zone...so every penny we spent on the home inspection was worth it! Mark really knows what he is doing and is truly looking out for the best interest of his clients. Rated !! read more

BEWARE AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!!! We purchased our first home and Mark's Inspections was recommended to us by our real estate agent. We unfortunately was sent and inspector named Rich Perotta from Mark's Inspections. Firstly, it took him several days to get the report to us and when he did I noticed that in the report, he inserted a "fake picture" of the fuse box. He also indicated that the fuse box was in a totally different area. When we realized that we called him to reinspect, which he did. Second item - he indicated that he inspected the gutters. The house does not have any gutters!!!!!!! Third item - he indicated the dryer vent was installed correctly, however, the dryer vent was covered by the vinyl siding and he never went outside to inspect. This man has cost us unnecessary money and as first time home buyers, we trusted him because the company was recommended to us. Mark (the owner) was very rude when I called and said this has nothing to do with him, his workers are independent contractors. The home inspection is such a critical piece in the process and we trusted Rich Perotta (under Mark's Inspection) to do right by us. If he had done his job, we would have caught everything ahead of time and used it to close the home deal. I just don't want anyone else to fall victim to this company!!!! Now no one has returned our emails. The inspection was $500. read more

Mark's inspection report on our home was 50% inaccurate and/or misleading. He did not do the house justice spending less than 2 hours reviewing our 3,100 square foot home. He was knit picky on silly things as there were no real issues to report on. He was an alarmist and scared the first time house buyers and killed our deal. He should be reported to New York State and his license suspended. Shame on you Mark Aakjar for doing such a shoddy report on our home!!!! Warning to all potential house buyers and realestate brokers, stay away from this guy!!!! read more

Mark did a great job for us when buying our house, so it was a no-brainer that we would ask him to come by and look at our house before listing it for sale. His insight was invaluable! He helped us prioritize things and understand what to expect out of the inspection process as sellers. Very responsive and knowledgeable! read more

Purchasing our first home is by far the most important decision my spouse and I have ever made jointly thus far. Justin's thorough inspection and detailed report ensured us without a doubt that we had made the right choice, not only relative to the home but by selecting Mark's Inspections. He did a great job and was very thorough, giving us confidence in our purchase. read more

Mark could not have been nicer and done a more thorough job. As a first time home buyer mark walked me through the entire process and was so great to work with. He pointed out various issues that should be addressed and others to make me aware that might need fixing down the line. I cannot thank my real estate agent enough for bringing mark in. I have already referred mark to some friends and will continue to do so. He is a class act. read more

Mark agreed to inspect a house the very next day after I called him and was prompt and thorough! He was extremely down to earth and pointed out items with the house I wouldn't have noticed. He was realistic about what needed to be fixed and what to just leave as is. He also offered awesome personal advice about the house throughout the process (I asked, it wasn't unsolicited). He even rolled with the punches when I accidentally provided wrong information prior to the meeting. He let me follow him around the whole time and explained things patiently, thoroughly, and in a way I would understand. Very easy. Mark was just plain great. He will definitely be invited over for a party once the house is closed! Choose him - you won't be disappointed! It will actually be a painless process! read more

Moved into our new home two weeks ago. Justin from Mark's inspections did our pre-purchase inspection 5-6 weeks before we moved in. Was referred to them by our realtors. Guess what? We just discovered the house has termites. And the wall is wet near the termite invasion. I can only imagine what else will crop up that wasn't found at inspection. One of the few times I didn't check reviews before hiring someone. Never again. read more

I used these guys because the guy I wanted was out of town. The guy was nice. The inspection felt a bit rushed. He missed what I now know to be about 10 signs of water damage. Guess how I know? The roof is leaking in 3 different places. He didn't really inspect the roof but asked me to take a look...the house is fine otherwise. Not terrible but I probably should've gotten more for my $450 bucks an hour. read more

Although Mark is very nice, I am now living with the problems that he failed to disclose to me. He told me I had fiberglass insulation in my attic, it is EXPOSED ASBESTOS. He told me my pipes were in working condition- THEY ARE RUSTED. He told me I didn't have a termite problem, they SWARMED out of the ground, surrounding my daughters toys. I am now over $5000 in debt due to this issues. Just which he had been more thorough in my inspection. I believe he works with the realty company and just wants to get the properties sold, no matter if they have issues or not. read more

There's an old saying: "...you get what you pay for..." Their inspector, Rich (I think) did not find mold in 3 different areas in my house that had been there a very long time. It was only a rodent inspection that mold was found. I emailed Mark Aakjar about this with no response. It's best to avoid home-based businesses and stick with a company that has a real office space and office staff so that there is accountability. read more

Best inspector to use. The inspection is for your own safety it's not like they can know the future or know what will come up. The inspection is for the house at the time of sale. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! If i could give this zero stars i would Have done it. I had the worst experience with this company. I had them inspect a house in port chester which i was planning to buy. Their report said that there was no molds and everything was fine. 3 days before signing contracts i had my uncle take one last look Of the house and found molds and sewer leaks which was not seen by this company's inspector. I paid $525 for a job not done as expected. I spoke to mark aakjar who is said to be the owner and at first he said he was going to give us a refund but its been weeks And he still Has not given us a refund. He refuses to answer our calls and emails. And when i spoke to Him he just put the phone down on me and after that he never called or responded. I would not suggest this company even to my enemy. They have the worst service. Update: 4 days after posting this review, owner mark aakjar calls me to say "if you do not take down your review, the company will not refund you the money" I told him i will only take it down if they do something about their service and if they indeed refund me but he can't even give me a date as to when he will refund. This is the kind of company they have. Telling the customer to delete a bad review is not a good thing. He should have asked me how he can make The company better. I hope this will help other consumers specially like myself who is a fist time home buyer not to be fooled. read more

Although Mark could not perform the inspection services that my home required, not because he was unwilling, but because of the specificity of the inspection, his telephone consultation, candor, and information about the subject were invaluable. I had been on the phone for days just seeking some basic information about how a certain inspection would proceed, and, knowing that he would not gain anything from the conversation, nor would he get any paid business, he took the time out of a busy Monday morning to talk me through the situation. To me, that is an indicator of a truly honest and knowledgeable professional. If I ever need a home inspection, I will absolutely be calling him. read more

DO NOT USE MARK or his company! He inspected the house I currently live in and over the years people have said to me didn't your home inspector find these issues? New roof replacement, outdated electrical panels that do not meet requirements, outdated electricity, leaking basement, asbestos in basement and every one of these things I've had to replace in my house which he said was ALL FINE mind you I asked him personally when he did the inspection and said everything is good! I hope he goes out of business! I've spent over 30k fixing issues I could have negotiated as part of the contract! read more

I could say the same of the previous person who talked about the inspection..... I had a situation with my basement where I told it was only but minimal water problem I recently had a rainstorm in November which was so terrible that I had to buy a wetvac and drain my basement 36 times when I call Mark to explain that he had told me that this was supposed to be a minimal water in the basement he said he never said that was very rude and inconsiderate and then trying to give me ideas what to do for my basement if you're giving me those ideas and you must have known that the basement was a major problem so I had to take things into my own hands and take care of the problem I suggest you don't use this gentleman cuz this company sucks sucks real bad and does not have any consideration not even to come over and comfort the person that used he's useless and then complete an ass don't use them read more

I must say it was one of the best experiences working with Mark and his staff for the inspections on my future home. Mark himself came to inspect the property and was very detailed and knowledgeable. From the moment he arrived (which was on time after receiving my request at the last minute) he immediately notice the great things about the property and items that may be of concern. It was very comforting knowing he wasn't just there to do a job but was concerned with my families well-being. If you are in the market for an expert inspector Mark and his team should be your first choice. Thanks Again Mark! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! IF i could give it Zero stars i would have. I purchased a home in Westchester and had Mark come out to inspect my home. The inspection came out fine specifying that there are no termites or mold. When we started demoing there were termites and mold everywhere, thank GOD we demoed everything because we could of gotten very sick from the mold. Also, we noticed that the bean in the basement that supports the whole house was off by 2 inches causing the house to sink on one side. We asked mark to come out to look at what we have there. He was shceduled to come at 11:30 and he NEVER showed up until i called him, he then said he was soooo busy jumping from appiontment to appointment and will come by at 1:30PM. He stops by at 1:30 and he was extremely rude and tells my husband he can't see through walls and when my husband showed him the exposed beam in the basement that was 2 inches off causing the house to sink in on one side he lied and said this bean was not visible when he inspected the home when in fact we have pictures of the beam visbile at the time of inspection. My husband asked how are you going to compensate us for this, you did not do your job right. Mark then says nothing, that he cant do anything and started acting like a real jerk. He didn't seem to care what he had done and showed no remorse for his actions. He wouldn't even refund us the money we spent to have the home inspected. I am now filing a Lawsuite against MARKS INSPECTIONS due to the lack of knowledge and professionalism that is causing myself and my husband a ton of money to fix. You hire inspectors before you purchase a home to make sure what you are buying doesnt not have MOLD or TERMITES or anything that can harm you so to have this happen is a nitemare! It seems that this guy Mark does not know what he is doing and all he does is jump from house to house doing inspections that he has no clue about and rushes the job so he can make money. He could care less what he does to people. People like this should not be in business. read more

If I could give him a zero I would. Homeowners DO NOT use Mark! He rushes through, hard to get in touch with with results. Not worth his cheap inspection. Better to spend more on someone who will actually conduct a home inspection and actually take time to INSPECT. Mark found everything around the house that I would - broken windows, compromised gutters, leaky faucets, but missed some of the biggest concerns a homeowner would have. As a first-time buyer, I made lots of mistakes and using this service was a big one. Make sure you spend your money well on home inspection because that 400 - 600 dollars up front can save you thousands down the road. We lost out big time on this purchase - we still love the house, but the work we need to get it up to code is overwhelming and could have been prevented with a better inspection. read more
