We had Chuck Babcock come out to inspect a home we expected to purchase in White Plains earlier in August of this year. We could not have asked for a more professional, detailed, thorough inspection. The report that was submitted to us two days later included detailed photos, very clear explanations. He was available for follow up calls with our questions. He was clear. He was patient. He wasn't alarming, just thorough. My husband and I felt we had a better picture of what we were buying and could plan our budget for repairs accordingly. Inspector Chuck came to look at the home we eventually bought in August and did not find any large issues. The same we we moved into the home, we noticed a large water leak coming from the furnace flue cleanout in the basement, and there was clear evidence that the leak had been going on for a while (brown water staining). Upon inspection of the chimney, we immediately noticed multiple cracks and large holes on the chimney that were letting in water. The inspector either ignored these obvious issues or did not see them. Either way, we now have to rebuild our chimney, a $6,000 expense. Stay far, far away. read more

I wish I could give more stars but the inspector that came to the house was completely off regarding the condition of the furnace. He said that it could last a few years but after a week of being in the house, it broke down and we were told that if the inspector took a better look, the problem would have been diagnosed sooner. read more

Awful experience. Inspector did not even look at crawl space and missed major structural issue with concrete slab. They followed up with us trying to reslove things. While he ackowledges that his employess did not do his job, Mark is unwilling to accept any responsibilities for his employess and does a lot of handwaving claiming that everything is how it is supposed to be and repaired well, so there are not damages he is liable for, pointing to his limitation of liability of $500 (the cost of the inspection). So we will have to pursue other avenues to recover damages due their gross negligence. Unfortunate. read more

Just like the other reviewers, we are now finding MAJOR issues that should have been caught by Mark. We purchased the home 3 years ago and are now doing some repairs, which we thought would be minor. Mark and his team missed a TON of water damage that the previous home owner covered up by re-painting. The damage would have taken years and years to happen, so we know it occurred before purchasing the home. There are other things that we now know Mark missed as well. It's really a shame as he was referred to us, and I KNOW she referred him to us in good faith. The home inspection is such a critical piece in the process and we trusted Mark to do right by us. If he had done his job, we would have caught everything ahead of time and used it to close the home deal. Appreciated having Ross do the inspection, on very short notice. Ross was very thorough and noticed things that I wouldn't have noticed with the unit and had good suggestions for ways to fix problems and mitigate future problems. He looked at all of the systems (cooling, electrical, plumbing, heating) in great detail and gave every appliance a thorough check, which turned up some big potential problems with one of the appliances. He also was very detail-oriented in his review of the exterior (roof, stucco, ...) and items that needed to be attended to and addressed. The sellers realtor deceived us and blatantly lied about a couple things regarding the home that made us pull out of that sale, but once we found a new home Mark met us again and was just as thorough as the first time with what ended up being our home. BEWARE AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!!! We purchased our first home and Mark's Inspections was recommended to us by our real estate agent. We unfortunately was sent and inspector named Rich Perotta from Mark's Inspections. Firstly, it took him several days to get the report to us and when he did I noticed that in the report, he inserted a "fake picture" of the fuse box. He also indicated that the fuse box was in a totally different area. When we realized that we called him to reinspect, which he did. Second item - he indicated that he inspected the gutters. The house does not have any gutters!!!!!!! Third item - he indicated the dryer vent was installed correctly, however, the dryer vent was covered by the vinyl siding and he never went outside to inspect. This man has cost us unnecessary money and as first time home buyers, we trusted him because the company was recommended to us. Mark (the owner) was very rude when I called and said this has nothing to do with him, his workers are independent contractors. The home inspection is such a critical piece in the process and we trusted Rich Perotta (under Mark's Inspection) to do right by us. If he had done his job, we would have caught everything ahead of time and used it to close the home deal. I just don't want anyone else to fall victim to this company!!!! Knowing my husband and I were buying our first home together, he patiently walked us through the inspection process, and carefully explained all the issues he was flagging. Mark's inspection report on our home was 50% inaccurate and/or misleading. He did not do the house justice spending less than 2 hours reviewing our 3,100 square foot home. He was knit picky on silly things as there were no real issues to report on. He was an alarmist and scared the first time house buyers and killed our deal. He should be reported to New York State and his license suspended. Shame on you Mark Aakjar for doing such a shoddy report on our home!!!! I used these guys because the guy I wanted was out of town. The guy was nice. The inspection felt a bit rushed. He missed what I now know to be about 10 signs of water damage. Guess how I know? The roof is leaking in 3 different places. He didn't really inspect the roof but asked me to take a look...the house is fine otherwise. Not terrible but I probably should've gotten more for my $450 bucks an hour. read more

Although Mark is very nice, I am now living with the problems that he failed to disclose to me. He told me I had fiberglass insulation in my attic, it is EXPOSED ASBESTOS. He told me my pipes were in working condition- THEY ARE RUSTED. He told me I didn't have a termite problem, they SWARMED out of the ground, surrounding my daughters toys. I am now over $5000 in debt due to this issues. Just which he had been more thorough in my inspection. There's an old saying: "...you get what you pay for..." Their inspector, Rich (I think) did not find mold in 3 different areas in my house that had been there a very long time. It was only a rodent inspection that mold was found. I emailed Mark Aakjar about this with no response. It's best to avoid home-based businesses and stick with a company that has a real office space and office staff so that there is accountability. read more

Their report said that there was no molds and everything was fine. 3 days before signing contracts i had my uncle take one last look Of the house and found molds and sewer leaks which was not seen by this company's inspector. I paid $525 for a job not done as expected. I spoke to mark aakjar who is said to be the owner and at first he said he was going to give us a refund but its been weeks And he still Has not given us a refund. He refuses to answer our calls and emails. And when i spoke to Him he just put the phone down on me and after that he never called or responded. I would not suggest this company even to my enemy. They have the worst service. Update: 4 days after posting this review, owner mark aakjar calls me to say "if you do not take down your review, the company will not refund you the money" I told him i will only take it down if they do something about their service and if they indeed refund me but he can't even give me a date as to when he will refund. This is the kind of company they have. Telling the customer to delete a bad review is not a good thing. He should have asked me how he can make The company better. I had a situation with my basement where I told it was only but minimal water problem I recently had a rainstorm in November which was so terrible that I had to buy a wetvac and drain my basement 36 times when I call Mark to explain that he had told me that this was supposed to be a minimal water in the basement he said he never said that was very rude and inconsiderate and then trying to give me ideas what to do for my basement if you're giving me those ideas and you must have known that the basement was a major problem so I had to take things into my own hands and take care of the problem I suggest you don't use this gentleman cuz this company sucks sucks real bad and does not have any consideration not even to come over and comfort the person that used he's useless and then complete an ass don't use them read more

Contacted Mark's Inspections to inspect a condominium in Westchester county. Ross was the inspector assigned to the job. The inspection was thorough as he identified some issues that required attention. He even looked behind the electrical panel. He tested the HVAC and made sure all windows were functional. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! IF i could give it Zero stars i would have. I purchased a home in Westchester and had Mark come out to inspect my home. The inspection came out fine specifying that there are no termites or mold. When we started demoing there were termites and mold everywhere, thank GOD we demoed everything because we could of gotten very sick from the mold. Also, we noticed that the bean in the basement that supports the whole house was off by 2 inches causing the house to sink on one side. We asked mark to come out to look at what we have there. He was shceduled to come at 11:30 and he NEVER showed up until i called him, he then said he was soooo busy jumping from appiontment to appointment and will come by at 1:30PM. He stops by at 1:30 and he was extremely rude and tells my husband he can't see through walls and when my husband showed him the exposed beam in the basement that was 2 inches off causing the house to sink in on one side he lied and said this bean was not visible when he inspected the home when in fact we have pictures of the beam visbile at the time of inspection. My husband asked how are you going to compensate us for this, you did not do your job right. Mark then says nothing, that he cant do anything and started acting like a real jerk. He didn't seem to care what he had done and showed no remorse for his actions. He wouldn't even refund us the money we spent to have the home inspected. I am now filing a Lawsuite against MARKS INSPECTIONS due to the lack of knowledge and professionalism that is causing myself and my husband a ton of money to fix. You hire inspectors before you purchase a home to make sure what you are buying doesnt not have MOLD or TERMITES or anything that can harm you so to have this happen is a nitemare! It seems that this guy Mark does not know what he is doing and all he does is jump from house to house doing inspections that he has no clue about and rushes the job so he can make money. Mark found everything around the house that I would - broken windows, compromised gutters, leaky faucets, but missed some of the biggest concerns a homeowner would have. As a first-time buyer, I made lots of mistakes and using this service was a big one.
