We purchased our home in April 2013. We used Check Mark Services LLC for the inspection of 2 properties including another one. Jeff Malloy and his partner Steve Dolph did a tremendous job each time. They were extremely accommodating and were able to arrange an inspection of the first property for us the very next day. As mentioned by others they are both very thorough, professional, and detail oriented in their approach to the inspection. The first inspection lasted around 5 hours and the second around 3 and a half hours. During the inspection Jeff and Steve both took the time to explain everything we asked. They pointed out areas of concern as well as areas for improvement that were less critical. In the process we learned a great deal about proper home maintenance and safety. After the inspections, we received an email with a link to a 60+ page document which detailed every aspect of the inspection, including many many photos and recommendations for appropriate remediation where needed. Jeff reviewed the report with me over the phone and explained his findings to my complete satisfaction. We were able to negotiate a lower purchase price based on the findings of their careful inspection. Since we moved in, I have found the inspection report to be a valuable guide as we begin renovations and needed repairs. Even though they may be a bit more expensive than other inspectors that we initially considered, Check Mark Services provides exceptional service and an unusually thorough inspection that becomes an invaluable resource to the new homeowner. We can't thank Steve enough for his service! As other reviews state, Steve is extremely thorough and took the time to explain everything to us in detail. As first time homebuyers, all of the information we received was invaluable. He was happy to answer our questions. He made suggestions and gave us a clear baseline of how soon something might need to be replaced and pointed out things that could pose a potential problem later on. He genuinely cared and was extremely knowledgeable, and made sure we felt comfortable that he addressed all of our questions/concerns prior to leaving. He even went through the terms of the inspection contract with us to ensure we knew what we were getting and were satisfied before handing over payment. We hired Jeff and Sven with Check Mark Services for our home inspection in Armonk. They were a little more expensive than others, but I see why. These guys know what they're doing. They spent hours inspecting the home and found a few things wrong that we used to negotiate the price down a bit. My real estate agent recommended a few inspectors..But they all had bad/no reviews online. In 2016, a business should have online reviews. There's a reason why Check Mark Services has so many positive ones. They're very meticulous, extremely knowledgeable, and super competent. The report they provided is great. A full checklist of projects to tackle once the house is yours. Grateful to have it! Jeff and Sven did clash with my real estate agent a bit. Because they called out every little thing wrong with the place. And that's why I hired them. An inspector should be independent and be looking out for you. Jeff did an amazing job! I researched 10 different companies and I am so happy I chose Check Mark Services. Jeff is thorough, knowledgeable, patient and efficient. He took his time going through the entire house and outside. No stone (literally!) went unturned. He pointed out every single detail from a chipped light switch to larger issues like moisture in the basement. He took the time to explain what to look for and how to fix it (weather it was a copper tube that needed to be installed or just a cosmetic fix). We had the report within 48 hours with everything itemized from smaller fixes to major issues. Everything was detailed and organized. He took the time to call me after we received the report. Jeff and Steve did 2 inspections for us. On the first house, they found enough for us to realize it didn't make any sense to go any further with the process. On the second house, they found an issue that could have cost us a lot of money if going undetected. Thankfully the seller took care of it and we ended up buying the house. That enough would make their services worth it many times over. However, they also have a very elaborate process of inspecting a house that gives you a baseline of what needs to be done: urgently, soon, at leisure. This is backed up by hundreds of pictures and comments about the code or why it makes sense to fix it now or later. They are also both a pleasure to work with, guarantee their work and will give a thorough education on the mechanics of the house. We highly recommend them to anyone buying a house in Westchester. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the home inspection we received with Check Mark Services! Stephen came out to the house we wished to buy within 1 day of calling him. He was on time, professional, and extremely thorough. There wasn't a nook or cranny that he missed. To evaluate the roof, he attached a camera to a long rod and put it out of the window of the 2nd floor bedroom. In this way, he made a movie to evaluate the quality of the roof! We were completely amazed. Afterward, we received a 100 page report on the house - we couldn't believe how much attention and care he took to observe and describe every issue. We were most satisfied with our recent house inspection by Jeff and Steve. Both have impressive knowledge of current regulations and building codes. The inspection was through, meticulously detailed, and aided with advanced equipment. This was an incredible experience! When trying to purchase a home we used Jeff and Steve for the inspection. This was the best decision we could have made. They were able to look at every last inch of the house and find the last.
