I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

So much more besides, including alcohol, newspapers and magazines. There's a fair sized car park at the side which was never full when we visited. The Co-op is found just around the corner at the top of the main shopping street and on the Oban (north) road.

Apparently everyone else in Newton Mearns thought the same thing as it was absolutely heaving - it's been a while since I've seen the car park at Harvie Avenue totally full! The Co-Op is bigger than Harvies was and makes really good use of the space to fit a tonne of food/booze/misc in there. You could probably do a decent grocery shop in here, that's how good of a range they have. They have an in-store bakery and a good range of most things you're looking for. I doubt we will move from Waitrose for our full shop to here, but I would definitely use it for mid-week top ups. There's a good range of wine, beer and spirits are stocked behind the counter. They also sell Buckfast. Staff were very smiley despite the store being totally rammed.

This enormous store opened a just a few years ago, on the edge of the existing retail park…read more As well as a large grocery section, there is a wide range of clothing (George brand) and a few aisles of homewares, toys, home electricals, music, computer games and DVDs, and seasonal stuff like garden products or Christmas decorations. It's quite possible to spend over an hour just browsing through these things before you even make a start on your shopping. This, however, tends to make the overall shopping bill far more expensive as it's almost impossible to progress to the foodstuffs before you've half-filled your trolley with things you hadn't set out to buy in the first place! I therefore prefer to shop in Morrisons across the road, however this is an excellent store and well worth a look if you've got time to browse.

Meanwhile, a tasty bottle of Black Heart is a mere £13.99. This shop is not only good for frozen and/or instant food but also stocks most simple ingredients for pasta bakes and the like e.g. cheese, onions, peperoni (three for £1.50) and jars of bolognese sauce. Most of the products here are the same as the ones in Tescos and Sainsburys and they try and price match it at Waitrose. So, maybe the "Waitrose is most expensive place to shop" moniker is misplaced. Back to the store. If you have been to the Byres Road version, then you have some idea of what to expect. Expand the Butchers, Bakers and Deli sections, add a decent freezer area and you may get some idea of what you have here. But the best bit - you ready for this? Quick Check. Yes - I love Quick Check. You grab your scanner when you walk in. Scan stuff as you walk around and put them into your bags. At the end of your shopping, you hand over the scanner, pay for your shopping and wander out. No loading groceries onto a moving belt and then quickly stuffing it into bags. You can organise your shopping as you wander, keep track of what you are spending and not have to go through that silly checkout crap. It makes shopping much easier. Other than that - decent wine and beer selection, loads of specialist goods, and all the regular stuff. We are definitely making the trip down the M77. We don't need to fight the Byres Road traffic and pedestrians anymore to get our Waitrose fix.

Water, milk, soda, sparkling wine, red wine, pasta, bread, steaks, blue cheese, fruit and veggies. Some snacks for our doggie. As usual we found everything we needed and as usual for the same good quality and prices. Another enjoyable shopping experience at Tesco.

I've seen at weekends like melon or even fresh asparagus for 20p. Sainsbury's are heading to the route of having little staff and more of those awkward self service counters. Overall the store has less variety & selection than a regular store but serves your basic need's.

I want to make stew and forgot to pick one up yesterday. Because I always go here after work and it closes early (i think it's opening hours reflect the surrounding office buildings), things start getting reduced at about 5 and I finish at 5 so always grab a bargain. I picked up half a swede, a small bag of new potatoes and a cauliflower all for the princely sum of 90p! They didn't have any vegan butter which I also planned to pick up but I will survive without it...for now. This place recently got self scanners which amuse me because as usual there was a man telling everyone to come use them but only 1 person on the actual checkout and a huge queue.
